Try a different USB port on the PC.
Did you try to root your phone or anything like that, before the usb stopped working?
I've tried 3 with no luck.
I not using the original HTC usb cable, I haven't got it with me ATM to try.
only certain USB cables allow data connection.
I found this out by getting a universal one from PC World and so had to buy a HTC or Blackberry one.

i'm not sure if this is the right section to ask this but my tilt 2 is not recognized by my computer anymore. I thought maybe it is the phone but it's recognized on other computers so I was wondering is there a way to reinstall the driver on my computer or some other fix someone know of?
I think I saw some threads with similar problems but I didn't see any definitive answer in any.
HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you have XP or Vista/7? The first step you should try is uninstalling/reinstalling whichevery type of sync software you have on the PC...for XP it's ActiveSync, for Vista/7, it's Mobile Device Center. A fresh reinstall of those sometimes clears this problem up, and it's the easiest solution to try first
I have xp and I have uninstalled and reinstalled but that doesn't do anything my phone still isn't recognize that's why I was wondering if after u uninstall does the driver remains on the hard drive and if so how would u remove the driver so u can reinstall it.
Do you use the same cable when you are connecting it to the other computers? If you do then... well I dont know.. I would still try a new cable and wiggle it a bit
When you uninstall the Active Sync I believe it does take the driver off as well...
When you connect your phone to the computer does it still come up asking if you want to connect via Active Sync, Disk Drive, Internet Sharing?
I'll give you one method that helped me at least when I was having connection issues, have no idea if it is related to yours (and it might not even be applicable to the older XP version of ActiveSync).
While your phone is connected, go into Device Manager and under the Network adapters node, look for "Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter". If it is there, uninstall it.
After that, disconnect then reconnect your phone.
As a long shot, you would not happen to be running any VPN software would you? A connected VPN always makes syncing the phone impossible.
Is your phone charging while connected?
I had/have a USB connection issue with my Tilt2. It wasn't recognized by the computer, but it was charging. When I connect through bluetooth, it is detected just fine. I am assuming that my issue are the pins in the USB connector on the phone, since I have the same issue with different cables.

yeah it's still charging but that is it... nothing else happens
Every so often when I connect my phone to my pc all it does is charge.. All I do to fix it is soft reset the phone AND restart the computer. Usually after that it works fine. If not just take it off and put it back on the dock or cable.. if you try a different cable that might work for you too. Or try plugging your cable into a different usb port on the computer
I cant get Zune software to connect to my HD7 .
I have uninstalled zune from my laptop 2 times now and still no go ,have also tried different USB ports and 2 different cables.
Anybody have this issue? or a fix?.
Cheers
have you used the original cable for the hd7?
Other than that I am not sure, I haven't had any connection issues.
Might be a drivers issue.

Yes I have used the original cable and all drivers seem to be installed.
Cheers
I've had this phone for about 4 months and it was working perfectly, flashing ROMs left and right. Yesterday I tried connecting my Samsung USB cable into my laptop and tried to hop on that USB storage. What my laptop is telling me when I connect it is strange. It says that it doesn't recognize the USB device. I tried re-installing the drivers, shutting both phone and laptop down and restarting.. nothing seems to work. Please help me, because without being able to connect to the laptop, my phone is going to be boring and unflashable. Thanks!

I've had this happen before with my first sgs2, i'm on my third now. Try it on another PC, with another cable, if that doesn't work I'd just send the unit back for a replacement because the USB port is probably malfunctioning.
Hey guys, just wondering if anyone had this before:
I am able to charge the devices, but nothing related to USB transfer works...
I am stock, not rooted, with latest version available for the Telus' E973
I've tryed 3 PCs, 2 cables, hard resetted the thing but nothing...
So far, I'm thinking I'd RMA the thing...
Does phone ask about mode when you plug it in?
Also, does the computer make any sound or showing that it's plugged in under computer or device manager?
Sounds like USB cable problem, but if you tried 2 cables the odd it's the problem are really low.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Nothing on either the computer nor the device, no changes in the device manager...
Was having same problem.
Redownload/install the ADB drivers or whatever they are, and all other drivers. Worked for me. Mainly the ADB ones.
You mean on a computer or on the device?
I've tried on multiple computer which were working before, and nothing is being "added" when pluging in the device, so it's most likely not a driver issu on the computers.
Maybe you broke the connector? What os does the pc have
Tried with Windows 7 x64 and x86 and Windows XP, same thing on 3 PC's
No reaction either on the PC's or the device.
Definitely broken connector
I'll keep you posted, I'm going to check out with my reseller tonight or mid-day.
So far, I understand that no one had this issue?
Thanks for all the input!
Got there during lunch, it's send out...
Now I'm stuck with a crappy Desire HD...
I've been trying to connect my phone to my computer and all it does is charge. Nothing shows up on the computer and no notifications show up on my phone. I've re-installed drivers and tried to connect it to different computers and it does the same thing. I've tried different roms and used different cables as well. The only thing I think of is that it got some light water damage about 6 months back but I've connected it to a computer since then so I don't know how that could be it. I've searched for solutions for the last 3 days but nothing has worked. Anybody have any ideas what I could do or could I replace the usb port or something? Thanks.
