Whats the benefit of having you MSL # for the EVO

Noob here so Im just wanted to see what the benefit of having the MSL number for the EVO is?
Basically it is a password for several "hidden" settings for the phone.
(ie ##DATA#)
I think you can use the MSL to roam off verizon towers instead of sprint and alter settings in the phone. I'm assuming settings that involve how your phone communicates with the Sprint network.
You can adjust several settings that unless you know what you are doing, you shouldn't mess with. Sometimes there is a need, but most of the time there isn't.
For the Hero, there was a ring delay and with the MSL you could lower the time that the phone checked for a call, lowering or removing the delay. For the EVO, I think you can get it to roam on Verizon towers as said above, but not sure that is such a good thing.
If you have it, keep it because you may need it, if not, it's probably never going to be needed. If you do need it and don't have it, just call Sprint tech support and ask for it. Usually they give it out without a problem.
Thanks for the feed back fellas! I have my MSL number and just didnt know what to do with it thats all. I will probably just tuck it away and forget about it.
Put it on a post it note under the battery.
Posted via XDA Android app from Evo
Go to Phone and Dial ##3282#
Choose Edit Mode
Enter MSL
Change Home Orig., and Roam Orig. to EVRC-B
Hit Menu and Commit Changes
This is the main thing I have seen people use there MSL to change. Apparently the signal is stronger with B. You are normaly getting signal from A. The other thing if I recall correctly is that all the A towers are also equiped with B equipment so even B is the better choice? Sorry its been a month since I did this mod if you search over at the PPCGeeks forum I know you will find it in the tips thread that is stickied at the top.

Hi guys first of all im in chicago I know that cricket is a triband but i also know that the HTC evo is also a triband phone. I uploaded the prl 4499. I already have the esn number registered with cricket but the ota will not go true. I also added the city SID 6534 yet the phone is not working. when i try to make a call it says sorry your account could not be validaded. or when I try to dial the *228 it says THE NUMBER OR CODE YOU HAVE DIAL IS INCORRECT AND TO CHECK. please help. what files do I need to truly flash it to cricket. I am lost. please help.
don't mean to bump this so far up, but i've also read that EVO is also a triband, I live in one of cricket's triband markets and i want to figure out how to set its frequency to the triband ranges?

Searching does wonders, it also helps you see what else is happening if you have issues.
In case you dont know after installing this, ##775# change PRL. I think you need your msl which there is a app in the market msl reader. you also need to put the prl that you want on there. if you dont have one, search for the prls.

I did find my prl# with ws and I think I can write or change the prl with ws, but I dont know what to write ?
Please help me. The prl that's installed on my phone won't give me data when I roam. When I dial ##775# I get a weird incomplete call message from Cricket. I'm supposed to have unlimited data while roaming. Now I have no data. I installed 2.3.3. Rooted EVO 4G on Sprint. Prl 01115.
EDIT: Never mind, I re-read what you posted. I had answered incorrectly.
you dont actually get unlimited data when you roam....you get 300mb or 800min...after that sprint will ask you to stop the roaming and soon will discontinue your contract. you get truly unlimited data if you use sprints network

[Q] PRL Write on JellyBomb

Has anyone that is running JellyBomb came up with an easier way than using DFS to write a PRL. It seems ## codes do not work and PRL write with any cut doesn't work either. I am looking for something quick like the above mentioned because where I live I change PRL's frequently based on the area I am in and using CDMA workshop on the go doesn't work.
Thanks.

No 4G

I have a 920p variant of the samsung s6 and everytime I sign up for a 4g data plan in my country it's always showing 3g not 4g... is there any where to change any option to receive full fledged 4g instead of 3g?
Any help would be appreciated...
plaese tell me were i can found my MSL code
Saafir said:
You usually would get it from the devices carrier (Sprint) In your case.. you will likely have to find it thru a logcat. I've never had to do this method. I always just ask Sprint and they give it to me. You can find the method here on XDA with a little searching. I don't have a thread to provide you with. Sorry
