At work today I was looking at the security footage on our DVR and when viewing the screen from the office where my phone is located my Tilt 2 is emitting what looks like infrared signals from around the led notification light. The light isn't blinking but when looking at the phone through the camera you can see three blinks a pause and then three blinks and it just keeps repeating. I think it is infrared because it looks a lot like when you hold a remote control to a camera and push a button(assuming you've tried that ) Do we have an infrared port on our tilt 2? I know my ipaq 6945 had one a few years back.
no you don't

No to be simple.
no. its not the IR that transfers data. but i believe it is the proximity sensor. i dont think it would be the light sensor cus if u think about it. proximity sensor:see IR light: screen on. no IR light visible:screen on. thats just my .02 correct me if im wrong

I am OMJ's Rom on my EVO rooted with toasts method plus the radio update and the led's under the front buttons are not working. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there an app that controls them that was removed?
The lights will be off when the phone is plugged in and charging.
When exactly are the lights under the four soft buttons supposed to be on?
On my EVO (novatec 003, stock) I have noticed an inconstancy in when they light up. Sometimes they light up when I unlock my phone, sometimes they don't. Sometimes they turn on later, sometimes they don't turn on at all.
This doesn't seem normal to me. What are other's experience with this?
Thanks
they are controled with the light sensor and should be on in low light situations and off in bright lights. you can test this by covering the light sensor to the right of the HTC logo on top of the device.
Thank you @peepeesea that was it exactly. Which is more hi-tech that I gave them credit for.
Also as a side note, since I've been reading the xda forums I feel like a phone hypochondriac. Everythings broken!!
i have a tilt 2 im running xdandroid the two led lights next to the ear speaker wont go of the green on will stay light up and it alternate between orange
That's normal. See the Project Android FAQs:
My Notification LED is always on?
Current state of the Notification LED is more for diagnostic purposes. It isn't functioning yet for true notifications. It is more for diagnostics right now from my understanding to let you know that the phone is in sleep mode. If the light isn't Green when sleeping then it hasn't ran it's power collapse mode and it is draining your battery. I get an occasional Flash from Green to Orange and I assume it is when the phone wakes up to check things like mail etc. But otherwise it is Green all the time the phone is sleeping. Which is good!

thanks over looked that

If you have a Tilt 2, then you only have "ONE" notification LED. That is to the left of the ear piece.
You also have a proximity sensor, which is on the right of the ear piece. The proximity sensor should never show any type of light.
Hi all and happy holidays
So I just bought my DEFY... my first ever touch and smartphone and I have Skype installed. It seems every time I sign in this faint red light comes on, it's located just on the left of the earpiece.
Anyone has any idea what it's for? this is not mentioned in the user manual :/
I wouldnt worry too much about it, I have it aswell, I have a feeling its a faint IR beam for proximity sensor (to turn off the screen when the phone is in use)
had a look in motorola forums as well, it does seem to be the proximity sensor after all...
PS can't post outside links yet
There's a LED indicator on the Defy just aside the proximity sensor (on the left or earpiece).
This led can warn you when you receive an email, a SMS or for missed call.
Maybe skypa can handle the led and turn it red when you're signed on.
What is the countinously blinking IR led in the front for? By looking at the notification LED area through anothers phone camera, which is a bit sensitive in the IR, one can see the blinking IR led. Is it for focusing with the front camera? I did not activate facial recognition yet. Actually it is blinking all the time, even when the front camera is not in use.

Ok. But the proximity sensor is always on. Always. Even when the display is inactive. I reseted the system to factory settings and at some point in the process the sensor turns on and it stays on non-stop if the phone is on. Is this normal?

It's always on to check if the phone is in a pocket or not. That's completely normal. When it's in a pocket it disables aod to preserve battery. It doesn't consume battery at all and it doesn't do any harm.
Edit: also disables touchscreen when you're talking on the phone while next to your face.
Hi all,
Been looking around and have had trouble finding what I'm looking for.
Does anyone know of a way to triggered the notification LED on the Pixel 2 XL when the camera is active?
E.g. When I open Google Duo and the front facing camera turns on, the LED turns on as a solid or blinking red.
Was thinking there might be a way to do this via Tasker or iftt.
