Hey everyone was a incredible member, until now. below is directions about how to make call quality clearer on the incredible. Just wondering if there is a way to do this on the evo?
I claim NO credit for this. Just letting you all know.
I can confirm it made a huge different for me.
1.Go to Phone and Dial ##778
2.Choose Edit Mode
3.Password is 000000
4.Go to CDMA Settings
5.Scroll all the way to bottom
6.Change Home Page, Home Orig, and Roam Orig from EVRC to EVRC-B
7.Hit Menu and Commit Changes
Phone reboots and walla no more muffed voice calls!
enjoy your uber phone.
It worked very well for me on the incredible.
Doesn't work. Can't dial that number.

Shouldn't that be ##786# ?
Shouldn't that 000000 be your MSL Number?
What is msl number? I wanna do this but I'm not sure of the source is credible at this point.
I have NO IDEA on what the number should be. I tried to dial it and it made a call. I was a Verizon user for 10 years so i am 3 days new to sprint and it's service numbers.
I was posting this thread asking others if they knew a way to make this work on our sprint evo's? It worked very well on my incredible.
i cant rember how but i found this listed in one of the dialer code menu and it was set at b allready
thanks kwajr

yea...i am hearing some noice in background, will call sprint tomorrow for the MSL code.
Done... noticed that Evo options are only Home Orig (was set to EVRC) and Roam Orig (was set to Voice 13k). Updated both to EVRC-B.
Try the logcat version to get the msl code easy as pie its in the hero forums

I tried the logcat trick, never could find the MSL in the log.
So does it make the calls any better? Any updated instruction?

Yes, I paused it after it finished 'reading the log'. I also tried a filter of 'I/' to only show the informational messages. Couldn't find it that way either.
Didn't work for me either. I just called Sprint and was able to get my code. Took all of 2 mins.

Try ##778# on your dialpad then go into the Security settings and under HDR AN Auth and PPP USER ID and S.IP DUN Username, make sure they are set to "[email protected]" and under HDR AN Passsord and PPP PASSWORD make sure it is "cricket".
Check the M.IP Default Profile too. make sure NAI and DUN NAI is set to "[email protected]" and under HA Shared Secret and AAA Shared Secret, they are set to "cricket"
Under M.IP Settings make sure the Number of profiles is set to "1" and the Active User Profile Index is set to "0" and the MIP MODE is set to Simple IP Only.
Try that and see if it works.
PRL
And also, you can try this PRL, it is the Cricket Nationwide Roaming EVDO PRL. it should work for the OTA (*228) Programming. But remember that you must check the EPST Settings under "security" and "M.IP Default Profile" after you OTA cause they will revert back to Verizon settings. Sometimes you have to *228 more than once to get it to work.
I had to zip the PRL, so just extract it and then put it on your SD card and update your PRL with it.

Hey man what's going on. Guess I've been a member here for long enough that I've gleaned far more than enough information and software from here that it's time I start posting and helping out others myself.
I am 99% I know how to solve your problem since I talked my brother out of his brand new HTC Droid Incredible a few days ago and I ran into the same problem as you at one point but as of approximately 6hrs ago I can happily tell you I have fully flashed my Dinc to the Cricket network here in Reno, Nevada with a PayGo Unlimited account for which I pay $40 a month and I am now able to do the *228 update after 3 days of trying and failing no matter how many bajillion (seemingly heheh) different prl's or other things I tried. (rofl I got like 40 cricket prl files now, maybe I should make my own site just for cricket prls lol)
Now, you say you flashed your wife's phone to cricket. Tell me did she already have a cricket account from which you are using the MDN and MIN to program her Dinc with? If something like this is the case then I am wondering if you have tried dialing 611 and talking to a cricket rep to have them change the MEID on the account to the MEID of the Dinc?
Let me know

Yes she had an account previous to her Dinc so after i flashed her phone I called and got the MDN and MIN from cricket and also I gave them the MEID from the DINC..she has service but I just can't get the phone to get the OTA update and like you I've tried at least 30 prl's. Currently I have 32400 prl loaded on her phone with no problems but I know that's not the prl she is supposed to be using. By the way I live in tucson az..Thanks for your reply

hey buddy i just noticed that you are from tucson as well!
well let me tell you that i have flashed android phones to cricket (my own) like the evo, droid 1, eris and incredible. ad let me tell you its not as hard as it seems or people make it seem, so here it is! the attached zip file contains OUR NEW NATION WIDE PRL and flashing instructions. you do not need QPST if your phone is already unlocked with 000000 if you dial ##778.
anyways just put the prl on sdcard then dial ##778 then password is:000000
go to PRL>update PRL> then choose the prl i have attached then follow the instructions from step 3 (skip 1, 2) without skipping anything and you should have your web mms set up!!
however if you run to any problems PM me and ill help you or i can either meet up with you here in the southwest of town and ill do it for you.
No matter where I try to play them from, it tells me, sorry this video cannot be played...there was a problem playing the video. Anyway to fix this?
Thank you..
Does this happen even in the YouTube app? I get that from the webpage sometimes, but if I click on a YouTube link it gives me the option of using the app and it plays just fine.
youtube has always been iffy on all platforms of android and on most phones and it's a shame that it's googles own website and these are google phones lol... Sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt.

After i choose edit mode it asks me for a code how do i find out my code if anybody can help me thanks.
download msl reader from the market. it will tell u ur 6 digit msl #.
that is the number the prevous post told u u would need
You need to be rooted to get your msl using msl reader. If you aren't and want it. Call sprint and tell them you need to do an RTN reset. They will give you your msl during the process at the password prompt. Simply hang up. Make sure not to tell them you are just doing this for the MSL or they won't give it to you. They have to actually think your doing the reset.

When i tried to make a call this morning my calls wouldnt go through. i wouldnt get calls either. i would also get these error messages when sending texts. Unable to send/receive a text message.
SMS Error
Radio Interface Resource Shortage
Details
Cause Code:64
Error Class:2... my phone was perfectly fine yesterday. i would also get stuck on the call screen when i end a call. could this be on sprints end?
It happened to both my wife and I, try updating your PRL that's what trying to update.
updated but its still getting some sms errors and some calls are still not getting thru
I'm in Myrtle Beach right now and it's terrible. Calls take about a minute to go through and texts won't send. Data browsing is painfully slow also.
are you rooted? and do you have a X over your signal bars?
yeah same here and calls are going to my voice mail. instead of the sms error it says network not responding.
yeah im rooted. my signal goes in and out. i update prl and reboot and everything works for about five minutes and then everything goes wonky
If you know your MSL number if not search the market for " msl reader " then go to your dialer and type in ##3283# then press edit mode, type in your msl number/ password then press date profile, press menu, and hit restore ( don't worry this won't erase anything ) let it do its magic .
theres two options when i go into edit mode. mobile directory number and msid. which one do i edit?
Once you're in Edit mode, go to data profile and just hit your menu button and select Restore. and let it reboot and it should set up your data like new without you losing any of your settings.

Ok, so I know a lot of us are having data issues and some are not
I think I may have figured it out
It is most probably because you ordered from a 3rd party retailer that didn't program the phone properly.
I ordered from Wirefly, and they never programmed my MSID, just the cell phone number
1. So, call tech support and have them reprogram your phone. They will give you a ##xxxxxx# code, then you enter in your cell number and MSID
2. let it reboot
3. update PRL, Firmware, and Profile in that order. Restart again
you *should* have better data connectivity.
PLEASE REPORT WITH RESULTS
Its called data reset and you can do it by your self if you ask them for the MSL number...
The MSID should be in the phone already if its activated the other SSID or w.e. Is your phone number
But good looking out for others who dont know

No if those numbers are wrong even by one number your phone will not be ativated
(I believe)
I think it just resets the phone signal to server/tower but frequently check for prl and profile updates that always seems to help a little bit especially when traveling out of your normal usage area

Honestly, I have yet to figure out any type of pattern as to what numbers are assigned. However, most commonly, it is your MDN that is the same as your phone number (PTN).
There's no good general rule of thumb to go by. Sometimes both of them are the same. Some times they're in different area codes as your PTN. Can't say I've ever seen an MSID be the same as the PTN without the MDN being the same as well. But anything is possible.
If you want, you can PM me your phone number. I don't work until Wednesday, but it only takes a couple clicks once I get in. I'm willing to do this for people, but within reason. Just PM me.

The MSL can be found by downloading "terminal emulator" and typing "getprop ril.MSL" It is case sensitive.
From there, go to the phone, and type ##72786# , at the SCRTN screen select yes, let the phone reboot, let the activation go through its thing NOT TOUCHING THE SCREEN unless it tells you to. Let it do a reboot again.
This will do everything in OPs post without so much hassle.

Yes. ##SCRTN# in the dialer resets the radio data (msid and mdn and a couple other obscure codes); think of it as a hard reset only for your activation. Upon reboot, the phone will go through hands free.
Also, ##"your msl"# takes you to the manual programming screen

Ok, n00b question. Do I have to be rooted to use terminal emulator?
I am using Terminal Emulator Pro and when I enter getprop ril.MSL and hit enter, I get nothing but the next line. Also, everytime I enter the ril.MSL part, the "i" changes to capital "I".......is that the problem? I assume I an not supposed to use the quotations either right?
Also, another n00b question, what is SCRTN? Is that just the phone dialer screen?
If someone could use the QPST software to make a backup of what the e4gt has inside the device.. since i flashed a file in the wrong slot of odin i have had so many problems.. currently my phone can make phone calls, text(no MMS) and connect to 4g but if i dont have 3g. it also says it needs to be activated yet i can still receive and make calls. i think it is something i did with qpst when i had to put the meid numbers back into the phone and somehow changed some other stuff.. you can remove any personal info(phone number, username, etc) but i just need to know what to do to get this back working properly.
i thought about using a pit file in odin but not sure if that would even help in my situation.
ok so just got finished talking to sprint and got my msid and msl back to what they were supposed to be. now i just need to figure out what else i changed in qpst. if someone could use qpst and save the file from there phone(take out msl, msid and phone number) then i could just put my information there and be good to go... PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME do this
Try updating profile usually any problems with connecting to the network or the I'd of your phone to the network will be fixed. I if not review your steps on what you did in qpst and try to find out what you may have changed.

No nees to pit.
I swear I responded to this already. Hm.
What does settings/about_phone/status say your MSID is. It may be the problem. If it is not a number clise to your phones number call sprint and ask for it. They will tell you how.
Other options: a reprovision, as suggested.
##72786# is a DSA reset. It may help force a reprovision.
If all else fails, back up EVERYTHING and do a ##786# as a last resort. It will work, but has risks.
You will need your MSL for my suggestions unless you make an anycut/nova/apex activity shortcut to com.android.sprintmenu/ SCRTN (i think. Its the only one that looks like that)
Good luck

Thats usually the default.. i used 000000 as my msl in qpst to flash prl 11119. If not theres an app on the market and other ways to get your real msl.. the guy above was speaking about your MSID.. sometimes its the same as your number but a lot of times different.. but if your msid is wrong on the device it will cause all kinds of problems

Again the person stated could be MSID.. im not talking about tye MSL.. MSID/MIN is a ten digit number.. its needed to provision the phone correctly.. if he messed up his MSID/MIN in QPST then he needs to find his and correct it..
MSL is like a SEC or sublock code needed for the device to change certain things.. default is normally 000000. If that doesnt work you need to retrieve it from the device or from sprint. I dont think he could have wrote a prl to tye device if he didnt have the correct MSL thus he probably did something else wrong.

Yeah ( i know, thats why I said he should check it. )
ADD: If it is MSID he could get it frim Sprint if he doesnt have it,
then, assuming a stock dialer, could ##(puthisMSL)# and enter MSID manually.
Is MSID one of the ten thousand number sequences on the box¿
I think its MAC, MEID etc

No.. mac and meid are on there.. msid wouldnt be because its assigned by sprint.. the meid is tied to the device.. msid/min and the telephone number are assigned by sprint.. for example if you change your telephone number your msid is likely to change but in some instances it will remain what it was before.. if people are having issues like he described first thing you would want to check is the programming of the phone.. if the phone was manually programmed (qpst in this case) he could have messed it all up lol.. thats why in the prl threads it says dont do it if your not sure what it is.. qpst has lots of tools in it.. he could have done a number of things wrong if directions werent followed to a T.. either way hope he gets it working right lol

You can get your correct msl mdn and msid all from logging into sprint's site and choosing to activate a new device

Good call. I'm just so used to having it all written down that I forget about the right way. Oh, so many networks... neatly written (gf..) it'll come in handy some day... for instance if someone's IP were banned and they wanted access anyway.... or something

Cracked screen--Bought replacement--Dies when I swap
I have a black SPH-D710 on Sprint. I cracked the screen, so I bought a white replacement on eBay without the battery or most of the guts.
I took the phone apart and swapped the screens and reconnected the boards and it powers up great... except that I have no service. If I connect back to the cracked screen, it powers up great and I get great service. I was hoping for a quick and dirty swap, but it seems like there must be some code in the screen-side circuit board that is foiling my attempt. I found this video [goo.gl/YNLZE -- xda won't let me post links, yet] where the guy seems to suggest that my problem is the IMEI, but I don't have the first clue about trying to find that in the old part and moving it to the new one, if that's even the problem.
Ideas?
