Hi my phone come with orange branded crap, like orange market etc.. and I want to uninstall the app.
Is there any way to do it, or a program that uninstalls apps like this?
Do you mean all the ****ty apps that come with branded phones?
There isn't a way to remove them unless you root the phone. Loads of threads on this board relating to rooting Desires.
You don't need to root to de-brand you're orange phone, do a search and you'll find the guide to do it
Ok guys thanks very much, I'm not being lazy, but I have tried some advanced search terms and cant find a topic on it.
Could you tell me a valid search term?

So, i've read that according to this: http://android.modaco.com/content/h...e-now-with-hboot-0-80-and-os-to-1-21-support/ there is a few limitations with the root process atm, though i don't fully understand what it means, but am just wondering, will you be able to use those apps that needs root access with the current state of rooting the Desire? Like Market Access?

I haven't read your link, but the root process is painless and works perfectly. All apps that need root access work apart from ones that need rw access to system. System is read only while the phone is booted. The only app that springs to mind is metamorph.
Apps like titanium backup, market enabler all work perfectly.
Okay, thanks for the answer, though since you haven't read the link, which root process did you use on your Desire? The one from the sticky in the Desire development sub-forum here?

All the information you need is in the sticky, its well worth searching and reading the links before posting the question. This has been asked many times before and the thread is very helpful.
Hi, I think I've already met with those limitations I couldn't get the (ratson's) Autokiller to work on my rooted Desire. It won't kill processes/programs automatically in the background, just manually part works. I' ve tried out everything

What makes you think that's a root limitation? The application is bugged. Contact the developer.
I have read all the threads, but as ever on the wonderful forum , they go off in all areas .
All I want to do is delete the APK's from the \system\app folder
I have Orange UK ROM ( 2.2) that works fab for me... but I'd like to delete some ofthe rubbish... ( stocks etc )
Will the "Unrevoked" work on my phone.... there seams to be some confussion now as if you need a gold card or not.
I do not want a new image , I do not want to unlock my phone .. I just want to delete the rubbish on the phone.
This also maybe in the wrong area.
Thanks for your help... just a simple yes or no will do .
Download 'AndroidCommander' - it's a Windows-based app that basically uses adb but with a nicer GUI. You can then remove what you don't want quite easily and I don't think you have to be rooted
stunning app.. but YOU NEED ROOT ACCES !!
Ant one else to my orginal question...??
If you need to be rooted to use AndroidCommander (which just uses adb) then you'd need to be rooted to use adb as a standalone - which would lead to a no to your question...
I'm sure you don't need to be rooted to use adb, though
Thanks, but Orange dont want a new rom .. will Unrevoked work with a gold card ... orginal question .....?????????????????????????????
Ah, right!!!
You shouldn't need a gold card to root the phone, best thing is to wait for someone who has a branded Desire and see what they say. Mine was debranded and so didn't need one
i rooted a branded desire with 2.2 froyo on orange using unrevoked, no problems, but if like me you want to remove the orange bloat ware, rooting alone wont let you, but it will let you flash a genetic rom
so in basic, orange froyo can be rooted with unrevoked without goldcard, but wont let you remove orange pish
Mike
Anyone know how to remove the bloatware the easiest way, then?
I'd rather not have to flash a generic rom because I want to use some of Orange's facilities.. just not the game demos and other bloated apps.
You need to root using unrEVOked (which won't change anything bar giving root access) and then use AndroidCommander to remove the gumpf you don't want, leaving what you do!
Yes yes yes , but will this work on an Orange UK Branded phone ? with out killing it ?
Yes it will work on an Orange phone.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Yes it will work otherwise I wouldn't have said to do it!
Once you have rooted with unrevoked you could try using titanium (from the market) to freeze or uninstall system apps. Sometimes its handy to freeze aps rather than uninstall them. Its less hassle than adb/adb commander but you may need the pay version of titanium.
I get this :
The hbbot drivers worked and win xp sees phone correctly .
I then ran reflash.exe, came up after 5 mins Failed to flash recovery image .
All I want is the ROOT permisions , not to put a new rom on it…
I'm a brand new user to my new HTC Wildfire S and even though I have searched and come across many threads on numerous websites, the language, terms and discussions seem to confuse me. Hopefully here I can possibly find an answer to my question.
I live in Chongqing China. A city in the mainland of China - therefore subject to all the firewalls and bans on international media, news, content, etc. I think Google has exited the market as well. Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and other "Western" outlets are also blocked. Nonetheless, I'm able to use a VPN on my computer to access these.
Now to my real issue...
I recently bought and HTC Wildfire S with the model number HTC A510e. It is running on Androir 2.3.3. and has HTC Sense version 2.1.
My carrier is China Mobile. I have a normal data package with allows me to text, browse the "internet" and use other Chinese applications. The problem is that I don't have Market. I've tried download the .apk and it doesn't work. I don't know how to "root" my phone (unlock?).
I simply want to be able to get access to Market! I have HTC Marketplace but it is garbage and littered with Chinese applications. I've tried numerous different .apk files called Market but none of them seem to work. I even installed my VPN to my phone and still, I can't access websites like Facebook and YouTube from my phone.
I think my only option is to "root" my phone. I don't know what rooting is or the consequences and if I can do it. I found a bunch of videos on YouTube by a group called 'unrevoked'. Does anyone know if I can follow them or what?
The bottom line is that I just want the Market.apk so I can download some "Western" applications and use them. I don't even have Maps... it's some Chinese application which can't be changed to English.
Any help, ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!
It sounds like your best bet would be to 'debrand' your phone to a WWE (worldwide english) version, which has all the regular applications installed. See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1142529
Thanks a lot. I read through it but unfortunately, I don't understand a lot of what they are discussing. I need it in laments terms... can you help me out?
We can give it a shot...
At what point are you getting stuck?
I haven't even started. All I have is my mobile phone and the card inside it... I'm assuming I should follow those steps to make it a GoldCard or whatever?
Hello compatriot, Your english is GOOD.
yet, their is not a good way to "root" the s-on phone. Please wait, the root methond is coming out.
Follow the steps in http://android.modaco.com/topic/305672-creating-a-goldcard/ first to create the Goldcard (this is just a fancy name for a sd-card that has a zip file on it that will allow you to flash a wider selection of signed ROM's - including older versions than what you might currently be running).
Once you have the 'Goldcard' ready, it is in fact a matter of following the steps in the thread I linked to earlier.

There is no need for Backstrom to root his phone; debranding can be done without root.
Also, what root method would there be coming out soon? Are the people of xda.cn working on some alternative to AlphaRevx?
isn't the htc going to unlock the bootloader by august or september? then that means s-off can root.

There is no way of knowing that for sure. Now stop derailing the thread.
Debranding from TMobile version to euro is possible with goldcard ?
Sorry I've been busy. I'll get back to you soon! And thanks for offering to help me out!

Rooting is not risky or anything, just plug you phone in your pc and use unrevoked. Finished in a minute or so and then it's rooted.. But if you don't feel good about it, don't
thanks, i downloaded the unrevoked program, before i root is there a posibitety to backup my phone rom? And if i root, do i loss my warrenty?
and he program said, make shure you DONT have installed htc sync, do the mean on my pc or phone? and can i use it after it is rooted again?
thanks
btw can i also flash my rom with this program?
Read guides before you do anything, they are all over the forums just search.
Also before you do anything write down your software/radio version so you can download appropriate RUU in case you need go back to factory default ROM.
You'll also need to know how to partition SD card. (most ROMs requires it)
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
i installed the theme app but now i cant put my old htc sense widgets on my desktop. is there a posibillety to have my old sense widgets? (i looked onb the market but the fake ones aren't so nice as the original)
Not the exact same ones, no.
There are some replicas on the market, especially for the 4x2 clock/weather there is a great replica that looks exactly like the real thing.

When you root your device you can remove all apps you want. I use Titanium Backup for that because I can delete data file that can be leftover after uninstalling of app.
thanks
