When you root your device you can remove all apps you want. I use Titanium Backup for that because I can delete data file that can be leftover after uninstalling of app.
thanks

Is there a guide on how to do it? Can you use a mac? Or is it done directly on the phone?
You can do either way...I just use Root Explorer app and delete things I don't need...I have done it many times and know which ones I can't delete So, if this is your first time, you may want to just rename them so they don't run...let me find the link...it was here somewhere
Here ya go.
By the way, the [Q] means question, this belonged in the Q&A thread.

Thanks...and...oops.... if an admin can move it.... oops...
I like to use Titanium Backup. That way I uninstall and if I ever need those items back on I can reinstall.
I agree titanium backup is good way to go. it allows you to remove city id and stuff like that + it backs up your apps with market links.

I can't answer your question as I didn't think it was possible with our root.
So.. hello! this is my first thread as you can see and i gome some question that stop me from rooting my verizon xperia play ( wich i think its called r800x ), mine is the CDMA version.
Btw, my phone has 2.3.2 and atm i cant update, Already read the sticky on r800x , but just want to confirm..
so basically i found that SuperOneClick does the job, so here are some questions:
i dont want custom roms on my cellphone i just want to remove verizon apps and those stuff, and also install titanium. BUT!
1.- if i root my phone, and uninstall the verizon apps, what will happen if i need to do a factory reset, will it crash ir brick since it cant find those apps?
2.- am i right? SuperOneClick does the job using the zergrush xploit?
Thats all for now! thank you guys!
If you do a factory reset in the phone, all that does is clear your personal info from every nook and cranny possible in your phone. It doesn't actually try to find all the apps, iirc, it just wipes everything it can find.
Superoneclick worked for me on 2.3.3, so I'm sure it'll work on 2.3.2, as well.

If you root your phone and uninstall all the vz bloat, I would suggest doing a data wipe because of the cache/dalvik cache left behind and re gain the extra internal space, your phone will NOT brick if you delete those apps and data wipe.
And you are correct, super one click will do the job!
I would update to 2.3.3 though, it is much better then 2.3.2, How come you cant update?
how to hard reset R800x?
i couldnt find anyway to hard reset this device , its got pattern lock and cant get inside the device , any idea please . i tried this ( right button-left button-power release after sony ericson logo displays on screen , that does nothing to device , any other solution please post and thanks in advance ,

1.If you do go back to stock, flash the stock ft ( in the Dev section)
2. Indeed it does. Make sure you get 2.3.3, root it, get cwm for locked bootloader ( there's a thread in the dev section ),and get Cola ROM. It is so fast, and has no Verizon apps. Plus, its for locked boot loaders!
I'm running it right now, and it is great! Also, make sure you make a backup of stock 2.3.3 before flashing Cola.

hello,
My wife has a WFS and has a lot of apps preinstalled on her phone.
i looked a time ago to root it to remove them, but in that time, i didn't found a solution.
Now i see that there are a lot of apps an methots to root it, putting it S-off, ...
but i'm not sure which one to use.
What do i want?
I want to be able to remove all preinstalled apps, without loosing all the data/other apps/... there are on at this moment.
What is a good methot doing so?
tx!
I am definitely not an expert, but I've been playing a lot with my WFS. To clear those pre installed apps, you need admin privileges, ie root access. The most simple solution I used was a dedicated tool, unlockroot http://www.unlockroot.com. But, as a prerequisite, phone must be S-on. Otherwise, you will have to S-On it first.

here you go...
these are the tutorial links...
1) to unlock bootloader http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432199
2) to root ur device http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195275
*************************************************************** Hit Thanks if I helped You *****************************************************************
Tx!
What is see in the tutorials is that
1) you need an unlocked bootloader to step 2.
2) You loose all data in step 1.
They advice to do a full phone backup, but how can i do this?
Isn't there another way of rooting, without loosing all data?

If your phone has already an unlocked bootloader (ie S-off) and then you just want to root it, without loosing anything and without having to backup any single piece of data, unlockroot is the simple way to go. I gave the link in my previous post.
But if you need to S-off it first, then you definitely need to backup some data. As far as I know, you may have to backup call logs, sms. Exports your contacts lists as vCard on your sDcard (or synchronized them with an online account, as you like).
You may also want to backup some user applications. You can use ApkManagerPlus (search it on the Google store), it can export user apps as apk files on the sdCard. Or just use Airdroid (available on the Google Store, too), which is awesome at that, too.
All of them are freely available apps.
If you have access to a stock based recovery, perform a nandroid backup too.
Then connect the phone as a mass storage and copy the whole contents on your PC.
That should be enough precautions before trying to unlock the bootloader.
Hi All
I'm trying to move apps to SD and the devices tell me I need to root for this to happen. I went through the process of unlocking the bootloader only to have it remind me that it essentially becomes a factory reset, so I'm going to back up all my data and have a go on the weekend. I need to factory reset anyway as the phone has started lagging.
I have read that unlocking bootloader will allow the flashing of custom ROMs, which could include a ROM that is rooted. Is this correct?
If so can someone point me towards a stock rooted ROM, or the process of simply rooting the standard? I have no real desire to start playing with ROMs as the phone functions quite well it just requires a bit of cleaning it currently won't allow me to do.
android 4.2.2 HTC One XL (Telstra Branded)
I just want to delete some rubbish stock apps that I never use (like pocket news) and move the unessential apps like games to SD card as well as delete the hideously bulky little demo movies that these things have to free up some space.
Thanks in advance, and sorry if this is the wrong spot.
If you need any other info on the device let me know and I'll hunt it down. I'm not new to this kind of thing but it has been a while.
Cheers
Glenn
