So just now I took my phone out of my pocket, and hit the power button to wake it up.
The screen stayed blank.
I then pressed and held the power button. The LG logo came up like usual when you're powering it on. I thought oh brother it must've turned itself off.
Then the logo didn't go away. It just stayed there. So I pressed and held the button again. Every time I did that, the screen would go black, but then start booting again.... without me having pressed the power button to turn it on. And the LG logo would hang, and the phone would not do anything.
So for the first time since I've owned this phone, I had to do a battery pull. A testament to wp7 is that I didn't even know how to open it. I hadn't had to.
With the NoDo patheticness, and now this, I'm starting to get a realllllll funny feeling I've been "fooled twice". Please don't give me the "early adopter" nonsense, we bought a product. It should work. It's that simple.
The sad thing is, I'm one of the biggest supporters of the wp7 OS. But I cannot f*cking believe I had to do a battery pull. Utter garbage. If I was wealthy, I'd throw this piece of **** in the garbage and go buy an iPhone.
(maybe not as I still enjoy the OS, but it's pretty upsetting)
So here's to hoping MS has media scans and sees this.
Thanks a lot Microsoft. You obviously haven't learned a ****ing thing.

I got labeled as "argumentative" and a "troll" for saying what you just said. And was infracted.
Well (as you know) there's no trolling in my post.
I'm the type that when I buy something, I expect it to work. Little glitches here and there I get. But when the thing CAN'T. TURN. ON...
it's like I'm back in 2007 with my HTC Touch. Ridiculous.
When you purchase a car, would you get upset if all of a sudden the thing wouldn't turn on? Well guess what, an automobile is miles more complicated than a cell phone. It just shouldn't be a problem.

I understand your frustration. I've hard to do about 4 battery pulls on my Samsung Focus. Most of those times the device froze in the Music + Videos hub while playing music. But all in all, that's a lot better than my old WM6.1 phone. Especially because WP7 boots in about 35 seconds instead of the full 1-2 minutes for WM6.
I'm not complaining because let's face it, all products have problems. Some manufacturers *cough*Apple*cough* just choose to call them features or ignore them entirely. How many times has the iPhone alarm had bugs that caused the alarm to not work or go off late? I think it has happened every time we transitioned into or out of DST for the past 2 or 3 years. Moreover, if the iPhone freezes and you can't power it off, you can't remove the battery. Not only might it take hours for the device to die, during which you can't use it. But when it does die, you have to wait for it to recharge from 0%. I don't know about others here, but I'll take WP7 over iOS any day.

There wasn't any trolling in my post back then either. But I still received an infraction. In fact, you were one who called me a troll.

Good point about the iPhone battery. Every time my wife's iPhone glitches, I wince thinking... what if the battery needs to be pulled.
Like I said, I still love the wp7 OS, it's just, after the absolute disaster of wm, it's very........ frustrating.

Well I probably thought you were, I dunno.
I'm still not sure, as weren't you the one that was pushing all the Palm OS people to vote in the mobile OS bracket?

Do you consider WP7 better, all around, than WebOS? And the WebOS was well after the infraction and all the allegations upon mysellf.

I don't understand the point of your counter-question. I've never used it, I'm sure it's solid, but it doesn't interest me.
...maybe it's cause I'm looking forward to the weekend, but I don't understand this:

So someone was posing as you on the Palm forums? You did it to just for kicks after getting an infraction?

Why the question about WebOS. I had nothing to do with WebOS when I was busy in this forum and posting my displeasure at how WP7 was turning. I received an infraction without anything to do with WebOS. So why bring that up?
If you want to see the mirror image of my infracted post compared to your post, just visit my profile.
Never had this problem. Till now all issue can be solved with soft-reboot for me.
Only phone of all the US released devices I've ever had to battery pull was the Surround... that thing is just a terrible excuse for a WP7 device...
I think carriers delaying the NoDo update are making some people angry at MSFT. All those emotional posts today didn't forget to mention waiting for update.
The problem is.. WHAT THESE ****ING CARRIERS HAVE TO DO ABOUT IT?
Oh god. They just sucks! Put the ****ing network to work and do not worry about the handsets. Let MS, Google and Apple deal with it. No. They have to screw it around.
And COME ON MS!
First I needed to buy my Trophy from another country (btw, I don't even know wich one). All I know it is Vodafone from somewhere in the east.
I can't buy a simple app, even if my Credit card is international. I can't update. I have to deal with these bugs.. So, yes, I'm with you. Seriously, I have an iPhone 4. And when I got my trophy, I put it away and started to play with WP7.
Now, I just put my Trophy away, because iOS is so much more reliable then WP7. I wish it was from Apple.
It would be perfect (;

I definitely remember screenshots of a "MartyLK" in the Palm forums trying to get people to vote over and over?...
Someone posted it in a thread here. That's the only reason I bring it up.

Well..it had nothing to do with my infracted post. I mean, I didn't receive an infraction because of the WebOS bit.

No no, I didn't mean or think that. It's unrelated to your infraction. Just a question I always had; ie if you were pumping people to vote for WebOS, why are you here talking about wp7?
Phones, as with other computing devices, tend to crash and freeze sometimes. iPhone, Android, WP7 - they all have their moments. That is reality. For a person that "loves" WP7 so much to go off the deep end after 1 - a single - crash... Well lets just say that maybe it's time to put the phone down for a bit and take a deep breath. Eh?

It isn't just the crash, in this poster's case. WP7 is buggy as Hell, in my case, anyway. And it has none of the common features smartphones have. It was billed as being updated aggressively by MS rather than the carriers and that important features is missing...the updates aren't coming. MS is being slower than a snail about how they are building WP7 up. People are just losing patience and have had enough. People that once were staunch supporters of WP7 have turned against it. You have to conclude there is something wrong or else you are just poking your head in the sand.
Hey I was just wondering if this was just me..but when i boot up the phone on the boot up animation as the colors are doing they're thing, it looks like the screen is a bit pixelated or as if it has oily blotches on the screen. I was wondering if that's normal with the phone or if like i should get it replaced. and than also with that..this is my second phone already..i exchanged my first one cause the usb connector wasnt working, would verizon exchange this one with no problem also?
Only in the boot animation? Are you sure it isn't supposed to look that way?
Yes, the boot animation is a bit rough-looking normally.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
ah alright i wasnt sure if it was supposed to look that way or not..thanks for that merry christmas all!
it's normal, to made the boot animation smoother.
Hated to bump an old thread, but it seemed to be the closest hit.
Just got my GNex from Google Play today. When I turned on the phone for the first time, the animation discussed here appeared to be absolutely vivid and stunning - HD quality. It was quite impressive indeed.
However, after accepting the system update nag it appears grainy and closer to SD quality following the update. It's now feeding my paranoia about everything else I look at.
Other than that, I don't see any other screen issues other than the blue tinge when viewing from indirect angles.
Not sure what all the update did. Looks like I am running Android Version 4.04 and kernel version 3.0.8-gda6252b
Sound normal?
Rooted?
http://www.mediafire.com/?kfn1e6nvys663ar
Flash that.
If not...
You can open that .zip...find the bootanimation.zip
and adb push it to /data/local/bootanimation.zip

Not rooted, but possibly heading in that direction. Just getting acquainted for now and making sure I don't need to send it back before I get too intimate with it.
Need to do some more forum searching and start sequencing out a plan. Thanks for your file link, I'll put it with my arsenal.
So I've been trying to figure out how to get a custom ROM on the Verizon version.
So could we possibly dd backup the system, extract, modify and then re-dd restore the *.img?
I'm spit balling here and correct me if I'm wrong. I've done a dd backup and modified my system and dd restored to pre-modified state with no problem, [as long as the boot loader isn't touched] so we could have mods made that way?
Does any of this make sense? It does to me.

There could easily be custom stock based roms for this phone which I'd love to see since the Verizon regime decided to fut buck everyone's party and horrifically lock the hell outta the boot loaders. I'd love to see someone hack the sh.t outta this thing or make another "bump" like deal ya know , especially since my g3 committed suicide the other day and the screen is destroyed leaving my flash addiction naked and cold in the dark lol. The problem is it seems any good devs have just given up on this model and I'm far from that smart myself. I'll test any toys if anyone bothers to put the time into it as long as they don't touch that sick twisted demented bootie blowing everyone's bag of blow on the floor like an accidentally flipped ceiling fan switch lol.

Yes I highly recommend years of being a working musician in the thick of "S.. , D.... , and R & R if ya feel me, tends to leave an impression on one along with scars, hearing loss and a few less brain cells lol. Anyway yea someone really smart should take a dig at this toy , I still bet it's possible to get through the BL but I know I can't do it.
