PHM Traylaunch.

Hi,
I recently installed PHM traylaunch, very nice APP btw. Could someone inform me of how to change the icon that is presented on the today screen? For example, I put calendar.exe in the traylauch and the icon that is associated it with it is garbage. Could someone explain to me how to change the icon? Thanks!
I believe the icons are located within the program's files, usually a .exe or a .dll file. You would need to edit the files with a program like reshack (resource hacker). I did this for a couple of programs when I used TrayLaunch. You'll need to replace the icons in the file and save it. I would make a backup first -- you don't want to screw up the program's executable and have no way of recovering it.
I usually copy the file to my desktop to edit it. When I have the new file saved, I rename the old file on my device (xxxxxx.old), then I copy the new file to the same location as the old one. If you replaced the icons with new ones more to your liking, then a soft reset should show you the new icons in the tray.
I think calendar.exe is in ROM, though, so this probably will not work. I believe there are launcher programs which let you assign icons, but I haven't used any. TrayLaunch is simple and efficient, even if it is a pain to set up initially.

How to change directory permissions

I want to replace some of the graphics used by HTC Home. When I try to store my new files in the /Windows directory with the same name as the existing files, the system tells me I don't have permissions to write over a read-only file.
I cannot disable the read-only flag, and I read this forum and all others in XDA-developers before giving up.
Can anyone tell me how to change permissions?
Thanks,
George
I have the same question ....
I can copy over files .... but not, rename or delete.
I to have searched for this.
Great question argie.
try using resco explorer or gsfinder or total commander...they can do the job
if you need to modify the htc home i suggest trying hhc (htc home customizer)......

Anyone can help me about the VolumeControl.dll?

I want to have the original VolumeControl.dll anyone can help me?
I change the VolumeControl.dll but it didn't work ...but before i instead the VolumeControl.dll i had not copy the original one... who can help me..?Please.
I don't know about the VolumeControl.dll you're talking about, but I sure know that in order to change the volume bars appearance you'll need to replace the volume PNGs located in Windows folder...
Attached is the original HD volume package; extract & replace to Windows folder using Total Commander or Resco Explorer..
Thank you for your respond..
but actually,i want the file is inside Windows...the name is HTCVolumeControl.dll and HTCVolumControl.dll.0404
can you help me one more time?
If you delete the files you've installed (may need to use Resco Explorer or Total Commander) the original ROM files will magically re-appear.

Prof. Yaffle is right ;
You can retrieve the original files by deleting their substitutes using Total Commader or Resco Explorer.. Try deleting the ones you replaced earlier ...
Both of you are right.
The file is back ,Thank you !!

[Q]A noobie needs help!

Hi, my name is kostas and I recently become owner of a Blackstone!
After searching the forum about themes and how to create them, I decided to try and create one. That's when my problems started!
First I copied the windows folder from my device to my pc, then with manila editor I extracted the icons that I wanted to change and edit them in photoshop. After that, I replaced them to the manila files with manila editor.
When I tried to copy the new manila files to my device I got a message which says that I cannot copy them to the windows folder.
Then I used QuickCab to install the files from my phone but after the installation I started the TF3D and the old icons were shown.
What should I do to make this work?

If you used File Explorer to replace the files, most times it does not allow you to return them. The safest is probably to first disable TF3D (Settings\Today) and then use something like to Total Commander or Resco to replace the files in Windows. Soft reset and re-enable TF3D.
thanks for the advice. I'll try it and see what happens

Pleasure bro, hope it works for you. You can also look at HD Wall which allows you to create your own slider with your icons and then creates a cab for you to install.

Alternatively you can use Sashimi to copy the files to your Windows directory! But Total Commander should work just fine...
