T mobile settings in about phone?? - Desire General

Hey i bricked my T-Mobile desire last night whilst flashing a radio update.
Im gonna send it back for repair or replacement so i flashed the generic T-Mobile rom from the unroot guide on modaco.
In about phone - software information it says
Firmware version - 2.1-update1
Baseband Version - 32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2
Kernal version - 2.6.29-0cb9f166 [email protected] #1
Build number - 1.21.405.2 cl174215 release keys
Software number - 1.21.405.2
Can anyone confirm these with a stock, unrooted T-mobile desire please as i don't want them to know i rooted
Did people returning their devices contact HTC directly, the carrier (T Mobile) or their insurance provider?
Thanks

My UK T-Mobile stock desire has a different baseband version ,kernal version, build number and software number.

i think you need to flash:
RUU_Bravo_TMO_UK_1.15.110.11_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_122755.exe
[edit] sorry, i think it's the same rom you already tried flashing.
not sure why it hasn't worked though...
did the flash run ok, with no errors?

Ok, i just tried again and the RUU said
"ERROR [140]:BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR"
I think its because HBOOT is 0.8 and not 0.75 anymore. I dont know what changed it. Iv only flashed a modaco rom, the standard HTC rom by accident, the radio update and the T mobile one.
Is there any way to change back and flash the TMO rom?
Thanks

The stock HTC ROM changed the bootloader to 0.80 - it can't be rolled back

Standard HTC rom is where you went wrong, 1.21.405.2 WWE rom would have updated the bootloader to 0.80 and there's no way to downgrade the HBOOT yet if ever.

Thanks, If i send it to HTC with the stock rom on, would it still void the warranty as its official?
Thanks again

I would've thought not but they'd be able to check the S/N against operators and might find out it's flashed

Thanks for the quick reply.
Iv just spoken to HTC and they're going to take it in for repair, has anyone had any success with HTC repairing a rooted phone?
Thanks

It's not rooted so there shouldn't be an issue - only if they suss it was a T-Mobile one in the first place!
Worst that happens is they send it back saying warranty void

Hope you are successful.
Can someone tell me what radio update refers to?

[Q] do original RUUs restore recovery image?

Hi all, would like to know if, after installing a custom ROM, if i use a RUU will the recovery image be restored to default?
Thanks in advance!
Yes it Will
Yay! thank you! so just using the RUUs i will totally reset my desire, so HTC won't be able to tell if it's been rooted before?
Don't know whether they can't tell, whether they look if they've no need to I don't know...so long as it's on a stock ROM I don't think they'd check

What is a RUU and how can I do it, as I'm having the same problem.
I rooted to allow Titanium Backup to have root after using unrevoked but wasn’t aware that meant I also had a custom rom installed now.
I’ve been told I need to RUU as well.
RUU = ROM Upgrade Utility
It's the official way of flashing a ROM. Each phone has a software version running on it when you first get it and you should make a note of the one on yours before doing anything root-related for the very reason that if something goes wrong you can revert back to stock. Not all versions are available, e.g. there are no Orange RUUs about, but the ones that are can be found here:
http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Bravo
If you didn't happen to make a note of yours then it's hard to say what it came with. If you've only rooted and NOT flashed a new ROM yet then if you go to Settings>About phone>Software information and post the software version we might be able to help
Thanks for all the information it helps fill in some blanks.
I dont think I have put a different rom on it, I only rooted using revoked- does that mean it has a different rom now?
and my settings show
Android 2.2
Baseband version 32.46.00.32U_5.10.05.17_2
Kernel version 2.6.32.15-gd96f2c0 [email protected] #1
Build number 2.12.110.2 CL232610 release-keys
Software number 2.12.110.2
on a side note the link you posted - what do the numbers correspond to, my Kernel or build
Right you're on a T-Mobile FroYo ROM but the issue is there isn't that versions RUU available...how long have you had your Desire?
Damm.
I got mine in April this year, why do you ask.
Can I not use RUU_Bravo_Froyo_TMO_AT_2.12.112.1_Radio_32.46.00.32U_5.10.05.17_2_release_143754_signed.exe?
You CAN use that but it's the Austrian one...the reason I ask is to find out the screen type, you should be on an AMOLED screen so you can flash the older 1.21.110.4 RUU if you need to - you'll need a gold card to do it, though, I believe
http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_127570_signed.exe
If I do flash the older 1.21.110.4 version, are there any drawbacks, or will I just be able to update through OTA updates that will then be available to me through T-mobile to get me back to normal?
Also is there a best way to do this RUU as I have seen a few guides, can you recommend any to follow.
The way I'd do it is:
1. Download that RUU
2. Have gold card in your phone and HTC Sync installed on your PC
3. Connect phone to PC and select 'HTC Sync' from the options on the phone
4. Once HTC Sync on the PC shows connected, run the RUU
5. All being correct it'll flash the ROM
6. Assuming it's worked, you should get the OTA updates again as you did before
Replying on here and androidforums is getting confusing!!!
Thanks for all the help and I hope those instructions were meant for me and not some one else
Maybe you have to downgrade your hboot to 0.75.

Yes they're for you but there's someone on androidforums with EXACTLY the same issue - you sure you're not the same person??
Nope thats not me
I followed all the procedures. But the RUU gave me an error after a few minutes saying 'Error 140 Bootloader version error'.
What does that mean and how can I fix it.
Which RUU are you trying to use? And which HBOOT are you on now?
Im trying to use the one you recommended above RUU_Bravo_TMO_UK_1.21.110.4_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_127570_signed.exe
Bootloader version I found out by holding the back key and power button to swithc on, it says HBOOT - 0.93.0001

[Q] Warranty

Hi, I am a newbie to ROM flashing/Rooting on Android devices, so I need a bit of assitance in the following questions
1) If I want to root my device and when I needed to send my device back to HTC for some reason(replacing etc..) will I be able to obtain my Warranty without worrying of voiding it?
2) Same as above, however, changing ROM of device and resetting it to the original state (default) ROM?
Many thanks,
Miah
Yes, you can root and install a custom rom and then unroot to stock (the rom that was installed when you bought it) and send it it for repair.
You can unroot assuming the original RUU for the ROM your phone shipped with is available. If not, you run the risk that HTC turn around and refuse to repair your phone

[Q] Please help with unroot

HELP!
I rooted my phone using unrevoked forever and now that I want it back to stock I'm unable to do so. I have been searching and trying stuff for a week now with no results.
I have a Norwegian (english display language) not locked HTC Desire.
Hboot v: 0.97.0001
I constantly keep getting "wrong bootloader version" (error 140).
I have tried using the method from android modaco com (cannot post link, not allowed )
1 Make sure your goldcard is in your phone (If Required)
2 Turn your Desire on
3 Connect it to a Windows PC
4 Run the HTC RUU
5 Let it run
6 & YOUR DONE!
(without gold card).
I think the problem is that I'm using wrong RUUs, but I cannot seem too find the right one.
Can anyone help me?
PS: If you can supply a step by step guide I would be very grateful. I don't have a lot of experience with this sort of thing.
forgot to mention.
I have s-on
What ROM was on the phone when you first got it?
When I first got the phone was just after release though I don't remember the version. I rooted the phone last week so it hasn't been that long since I last did an update.
Without knowing the version there's no way of knowing what RUU you need. The only thing you can try is:
1. Make a gold card:
http://android.modaco.com/content/software/308798/pc-application-goldcardtool/
2. Downgrade to an earlier HBOOT:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768256
3. Flash the latest WWE RUU (2.29.405.5)
http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&so...cZlrId8Dkc9IAPJsg&sig2=QNe-C8tewW0x4cdsO7aCXA
OR
http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&so...IwRiRP-6PYkibAtPA&sig2=OT9aE7a-DDKInlx4lTxTjw
Is there any way to find the version now or am I boned?
There's no way know without having the ROM on the phone
I have only rooted the phone. I have not installed any new ROM though.
Software info:
Android: 2.2
Baseband version: 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
Kernel version: 2.6.32.15
Build number: 2.29.405.2
Software number: 2.29.405.2
Ah, OK!! That's alright then!!
Just download the RUU I linked to up there and do the following:
1. Turn off phone
2. Turn it on holding the back button
3. Once at the white screen with FASTBOOT at the top connect to the PC
4. Once it says 'FASTBOOT USB' (and the drivers have installed) run the RUU
5. Allow it to complete
Job done
Great!
Gonna try it as soon as I have the RUU (slow network connection).
Damn, I can only thank you once
Thanks a million!
The one thing I would double-check is the HBOOT version on your phone - you sure it's not 0.93 and not 0.97?
Only reason I ask is that ROM version (both 2.29.405.2 and 2.29.405.5) both have HBOOT 0.93 in them and you can't flash them if yours is higher
It worked !
The HBOOT version was probably just me misremembering.
Thanks so much!
No worries, keep the RUU safe in case you need it again
Hi,sorry to hijack this thread.i need to clear some doubts abt unrooting, almost similar scenerio.
i think my front speakers are dead.from emiui 12.11 to miui-au 12.24 still not able to resolve the issue.thus need to unroot to stock to see whether it is working there or have to send it for warranty.
The phone originally came with:
Android Version
2.2
Baseband version
32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2
Kernal version
2.6.32.15-gd96f2c0
[email protected]#1
Build number
2.13.707.1 CL233262 release-keys
Software number
2.13.707.1
So my qn is when i see miui-au build no is :MIUI_AU 0.12.24 R2,what's the build no as in 2.xx.xxx??Or miui have their own build?
I have already downloaded RUU_Bravo_Froyo_hTC_Asia_WWE_2.13.707.1_Radio_32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_143921_signed.exe
can i use this?
Another confusion from me is goldcard. My phone is bought from local carrier(Singtel,SG).does that means it is network branded?
Thanks!
If you're using 2.13.707.1 you should be OK to use that RUU without a gold card. Try it and see
so custom roms have no effect on build no.?
is there any diff running the ruu w or w/o goldcard?
oh..so i should follow the instructions on yr post and run the ruu from bootloader?

[Q] Debranding fails - Error 140

Hey guys, I'm having serious trouble debranding my desire and spent the last days 'n nights searching for a solution.
Three days ago I was given an HTC Desire A8181 by my sister's boyfriend from Canada. I want to use it in Germany and somehow 3G doesen't work at all(only Edge).
So I thought about flashing a European /WWE ROM to solve the problem.
As he told me the phone was unbranded I just picked the last EU RUU from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667
But while flashing I got Error 130 - Wrong RUU.
Flashing itself doesn't seem to be the problem: My sister's boyfriend found his old ROM he was using before on this phone and I was able to flash it without problems.
It is 3.14.405.1 / Android 2.3. - apparently Telus branded.
I checked with Terminal Emulator and found out that the phone is indeed Telus branded. So I created a goldcard and tried again.
Now I get Error 140 while flashing ( wrong Bootloader version )
Could it be, that the ROM I want to install is too old?
I'd appreciate any suggestion.
Information:
Bravo PVT3 Ship S-ON
HBOOT-1.02.0001
MICCROP-051d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
Radio-5.17.05.23
The Phone is unrooted.
Both drivers and HTC Sync are installed on my PC.
Btw. Any ideas why 3G doesn't work?
Thanks in advance!
Hi there!
If this is the case you could just flash a stock ROM instead?
Also, this may help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=943726 to unlock the phone fully (though it seems like that's the case already it may help) it's quite safe. I've done it on about 4 Desire's without problems over the last two years.
There is Teppic74's rooted stock 2.3 ROM which is very good and exactly like the RUU version, with the exception of being rooted: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1200261
To root the phone, last I checked it was pretty simple. You simply downlopad unREVoked, run it, connect your phone when you're told and let it do it's stuff: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788044
Also, a problem you MAY have is that the phone is CDMA and Europe is mostly GSM networks (I think)
@ Kryten2k35
Thanks for your reply.
Firstly, I already SIM-unlocked it with the linked tool - that was the first thing I did after holding it in my hands.
Actually I could install a custom ROM, yes and I must admit that I already did so before. I tried out Supernova and tried to flash a new Radio ( I used unrevoked to do so) . I was quite sure that I screwed st. up so I wanted to get a nice proper European RUU running on my phone. That's when I always had Error 130 ("wrong RUU") while flashing all kinds of official ROMs. At this point I was given the (obviously Telusbranded) Telus ROM that perfectly worked as the only exeption.
I had the same idea with that CDMA / GSM uncompatability but found out, that my modell Number is A8181 which is sold in Europe/ Asia. So it should work...
Thanks anyways!
Other ideas?
Well, that Teppic74 ROM is completely stock (except it's rooted) so it's exactly like the Gingerbread ROM. He tailors all his stock ROM's to be totally like stock!
Have you tried the offical HTC Desire Gingerbread RUU? Beware it will stop you from ever putting a custom ROM on again (iirc)

Well, mate, the biggest problem with compatibility is a band version of device not rom. If you got it from Telus you have to check which frequencies it supports and see which one are used in Germany (I think you said Germany).
About RUU, you can't flash EU RUU on your device without a gold card because of CID version of your phone.
And if you want stock RUU that will work on your phone go to HTC dev site, kernel source code part, configure filter to DEVICE (Desire) and choose OTHER below it, click FIND FILES and the first one to download will be RUU upgrade android version 2.3. It's made for all CIDs and it will work with your hboot version.

Why should it do so?
Besides I'm quite sure, that the ROM I'm currently using IS the latest official ROM - it can't be a branded one.
FIrst: Android Task Manager tells me under information - Brand: HTC_WWE
Sounds like HTC's official version.
Second: Current System Software is entitled: 3.14.405.1. ,which is HTC's latest Gingerbread (2.3.3)-update. So actually it cannot be branded.
Third: THe old owner swears that the ROM he gave me was NOT branded.
I just found out that flashing with a comon SDcard would lead to Error 130 while flashing with Goldcard leads to Error 140.
At this point I probably could S-Off and root the phone and put a custom ROM on it but I'd really, really, really like to know why I'm unable to flash those stupid RUUs.

I just checked that THIS RUU is exactly the one I have installed right now!
Thanks for this hint!
So could you tell me why only this RUU works and the other ones don't?
Thanks a lot!
I suppose it's because of the updated bootloader, which is 1.02 and won't be downgraded to 0.93, which would be the froyo version.
Btw, this will not stop you from doing s-off (which I'd recommend you to do). Only using HTC Dev unlock will stop you, so avoid using it.
Gesendet von meinem HTC Desire
Yes bootloader is the problem, so you can't flash older RUU. If you go s-off (only revolutionary can do so for you) you can flesh alpharev stock hboot which is write protected and you can try older RUU (but I don't see a reason).
So, go s-off and root now and flash a custom rom of your choice.
Sent from my HTC Desire via flashes and thunders
Thanks guys, you really helped me out!
So far I flashed CM 7.2 and it's running fine - will try to get a proper radio on it hoping the 3G issues will disappear.
Thanks!

Desire showing "Limited Service" after Unlock

Phone was 2.2 (Froyo) Locked to Orange/EE HBoot 0.93.0000
I unlocked desire using this guide:
http://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Blog/Unlock-HTC-Desire-Free/ba-p/3185757
However, afterwards it was showing No Sim or Limited Service on any SIM card.
So I Upgraded the phone using the 2.3 Upgrade HBoot 1.02.0001.
Now it recognises and works with an Organe/EE sim after about 5 mins of being left, but when i reboot the phone, it shows No Sim.
With Any Other SIM it just shows "Limited Service".
I still have full functionality and can access HBoot.
Any Advice Please
Thanks
What ROM did you use to upgrade to 2.3?
It might be good to upgrade your radio firmware.
I used HTCs own 2.3 Upgrade which they gave out for everyone.. Its the one that debrands the phone. I got it from:
http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Bravo
Scroll down, its the Last one in the list, the phone isnt broken.. it works fine but it seems as if its only half unlocked and the person only gave half the instructions.
My Info is:
HBoot 1.02.0001
Version 2.3.3 / BaseBand V: 32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.23 / Kernel: 2.6.35.10 / Build: 3.14.405.1.
Which Radio version should I flash?. I dont mind flashing the Radio back to Orange/EE and ill just pay to Unlock it
Thanks
You cannot re-lock the phone.
And you already have the latest radio. You could try flashing it again through fastboot, but i don't think it will do anything.
Try running the unlock tool again. Maybe something will get fixed.
