I love HTC to death and everything, but I believe its now time to switch for me. I'll be picking up the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 once it comes out.
One of the main reasons is that Microsoft is really slow to change. Android has gone through a number of great revisions, whereas it took Microsoft plenty years to go from 6 to 7. Also, I would like a phone that can be used to its full potential by a myriad of apps of out there.
Right now I'm giving myself the impression that I will likely pick up a WP7 eventually. I won't be an early adopter as I love my TP2, and I'm still under contract for a while. But once I'm freed up from that, I'm definitely open to it. There are some things I don't like about WP7, like loosing all my WM6 apps (assuming no one releases an emulator, which I personally think is unlikely), but I think the benefits could outweigh the downsides. Only time will tell though.
Android is flexible, well styled, fast and an ever growing community. was close to getting a HD2 but held out til MWC ... I'm glad I did. I'll be grabbing the Desire in april. while wm 7 looks nice, it's still another 8 or so months away and by then android will probly have a new update on the horizon.
I'm swithering, WM7 looks good but very tempted to go back to Apple when iPhone 4G is launched.

I doubt that they will come up with anything that can challenge the HTC Desire...
Seriously, do you expect them to add a bigger WVGA screen, a good camera, faster processor AND more RAM with one single update?
No, that's not how Apple works.
Plus, they would have to add multitasking, cutomizability, better call handling features and a perfect way of handling notifications (because Android DOES is perfectly).

EDIT: And did I mention the crappy build quality of the iPhone? They knew about issues like hairline cracks and the scratched Apple logo and chrome frame with the 3G, yet they released the 3GS with exactly the same casing that's a piece of junk.

Google paid you for this bs or what? android has myriad of BS, not apps, first. there is NOTHING that could be substitute of apps i know for years(since wm03).
it is funny that wm7 will kill MYRIAD of useful apps, especially perfect, freeware ones, made for WM by great people(BEFORE xdadev era, i am not talking about fockin manilla skins here).

No, I wont switch to other platform. I will stick to WM (Currently WM6.1 on HTC Kaiser).
Android is nice, I was about to switch until I saw WP7.

My take on this is that I'm hoping there will be cooked HD2 ROMs based on WP7, and that I will try them out if there are. I'm currently only 3 months into an 18 month contract with my HD2, and right now I don't see any pressing need to upgrade before the end of the contract period. By that time we may be close to the launch of the next iPhone model after this year's, and Android and Maemo will likely have improved dramatically; so it's impossible to predict what I might do then!
You need more options, my answer would have be HELL YES! WP7! Xbox and Zune and Windows Mobile, what more could I want!
And all these people who keep saying there going to change to android, I really dont get it, Yeh its a nice os, but it still doesnt feel finished to me.
It depends only on upgradeability.
If the HTC HD2 will get the WP7 upgrade, I'll still be buying a Windows Phone. If not, I'll go to Android.
I don't want my $800 device to be obsolete after 3 months.
I love Windows, however I'm going to have to give it up due to my company offering me service from sprint.

We don't know much about the OS yet, and picking a phone is more than just the OS. The actual hardware & features matter too.

i think its kind of early to make a decision, i've always been a fan of WM but i have to wait for the MIX on march to see how apps will go, and whether WP7 provides access to registry and filesystem in order for us to be able to tweak some things (although i find that unlikely).
we should also wait and see apple's response to WP7 during the summer.
if i move away from windows it will probably be for android, but as i said, i didnt vote because the info we have at this time is very little on the platform
If this phone gets to the US through att (please!) I'm thinking hard about picking it up. I have a question though for the users that have switched from winmo to android.
I've been a winmo user since the wizard days and here lately I've grown tired of the daily resets (or multiple resets per day) to keep memory down and things running smooth. I love the Sense UI but it's a hog on winmo. I never thought I'd go to another phone that didn't have a slide out keyboard but the desire is something I'm really considering.
I realize this is a modding community and I'm sure I'll mod the device, but whereas the sense ui on winmo is "lipstick on a pig" it seems it's a lot more seamless on android.
Mainly i think i'm just getting burned out on winmo, but i refuse to support the evil empire of apple lol. I just want a phone that i don't have to restart every day, and I'm hoping android can be that.

Depending on how much of a "power user" one is , you could say Android just works.
I mean, Android with Sense + some minor tweaks and i don't have the urge to hack my phone into little pieces. I just use it.
Then again, for "just using" you might aswell get the iPhone.

Some of the design and the widgets of course and the integration. Plus it's slower on winmo than on android...
Almost identical reasons as the OP for me very seriously considering moving to the Desire.
Sense on Android does seem far more customisable than on WinMo devices. I've been using WinMo device since the Imate JAM.

I'm a die hard WinMo fan (I have well over a dozen WinMo phones right now - all HTC except 2). I want the Desire if for no other reason to hack something different while I wait for Windows Mobile 7 (which I may not get). If for no other reason, I ran out of things to hack on Windows Mobile. I need a new challenge. If I end up not liking Android, at least it kept me busy while we wait for Windows Mobile 7 (I refuse to call it anything else).
I picked up an iPhone 3GS just to see what I could do with it. Never even activated it. Not one of my prouder moments...

same here... i absolutely love WinMo and will never, ever abandon it. i'm waiting for the HD2 to drop on T-Mo so i can test before i buy. if i get the HD2 it will be the Telstra version. i might wait longer for a WinMo 7 device, too.
i took the Android plunge almost 2 months ago with the Nexus One. i have been challenged to no end to learn some of the Android basics, but i'm getting there. once i got the courage to unlock and root, it was friggin on! now i'm running the alpha Desire ROM (yes alpha), a.k.a, Sense UI, which isn't perfect, but from a functionality and performance perspective i couldn't be happier. (well, that's not entirely true, i'm hoping that [email protected] can get bluetooth fixed, it's a little flaky right now). i truly, truly hope that WM Seven is similar in performance and functionality.
using Android hasn't been an easy journey and i was very concerned that i'd change my mind and go back to WinMo, but it hasn't happened. i know i will be a better, more knowledgeable hacker in the future. some of the things i admire with Android/Nexus One:
ability to create backups before testing new ROMs. i mean backups with all my apps installed. a.k.a., Nandroid
the ability to recover from my mistakes via Nandroid backups.
a buttload of themes, customizations galore for the Nexus One
notification panel, where you can slide down for all your notifications
a great browsing experience
absolutely beautiful AMOLED screen
with a 1 ghz processor, this thing is simply fast
gesture search of contacts, music, apps, web, etc. it's like the old graffiti but using the regular alphabet
things that are challenging me big time:
Android command language
ROM/folder structures, basically where stuff get's stored
java, java, java
no native install to microSD card, there's AP2SD, but i'm not ready for that yet
not knowing how Android manages memory, programs, etc.
knowing how to create my own themes; i've had more failures than successes
having to depend more on others for assistance than i'm accustomed to.
i'm glad i made the transition to Android with the right device (for me). i miss WinMo and my all time favorite device Touch HD. i have an Xda Orbit II as a standby that's been good to me for 2 years. i'll be back to WinMo 7, but for now, i'm enjoying my Android experience.
i'm not trying to convince you or anyone else to move to Android; i only want to share my experience as a current/forever, diehard WinMo user. thanks for allowing me to express my thoughts!
p.s. i still have my first WinMo device, it's an MPx 200 running WinMo 6.5. a classic device that i will never give up!
I can not call myself a WinMo veteran, since I have been using the HD2 for only 2,5 months. But the fact that it is already a dead device because of the Developers leaving to 7 Series(Adobe just stopped making flash for it, while they were very close to finishing it) makes me sad. If on 1 April there is still no word on the future of the HD2, I am selling it and getting a Desire.
A few questions to Android users!
How is the Android Market? How many apps? All useable by Desire, or is the divercity of the Android devices making the quality suffer? And only instal to internal memory right?
General Android OS: easy to use? Eye candy? Touch optimized?
Android browser: good or not? Is there Opera browser for Android?
Does HTC Sense work well with Android? Does it become 'one', or stay 2 different things like Sense and WinMo?
What should I know more about Android? What do you Android users think are the bad things about the OS and hope to see changed in the future updates?
I know it is a lot I am asking, but I am making a right decision this time so I need to be informed.

great time to stumble on this thread.... my HD2 is no more and despite only using winmo for 3 months, I'm ready to go to Android too.
I'm no smartphone veteran - but something I enjoyed on the HD2 was the PSX emulator - will we see anything like that on Android?

I am quite a WinMobile user. I already worked with WinCE many many years ago, but couldn't ever think of having a phone with WinCE/WinMobile. Then 2 years ago, I got myself the Tytn II because I wanted to advance in my mobile experience. After using it quite a while, flashing ROMs and doing stuff with it, I thought I'd never switch away from WinMobile. Until the real problems started.
A friend of mine got a Hero last year and I started playing around a bit. Android really seemed to me, that it is pretty nice and you can do a bunch of things with it. I then tried some Android things on my Tytn II and was pretty happy with playing around with it. My first Android experience was with the G1. But I really didn't like it back then.
Currently I use the iPhone I repaired for a friend (just some minor testing because I don't like it) and I must say, that I am already pretty accustomed to the touchscreen keyboard (like everyone knows, the touchscreen keyboards on Tytn II are crap) (and the iPhone sucks... did I mention that?). But, I always wanted a hardware keyboard again. The only good device currently is the Moto Droid. But it already lacks due to the processor and not natively having Android 2.1. So I looked around a bit and found the Nexus One. Would be pretty cool, but it's still not yet available in germany. So I waited. Then the MWC. HTC Desire. Now this is what I want and this is what I will get. Already pre-ordered and hopefully it will hit the market soon. Can't wait for it.
This will be my first Android device, but I look forward to a bright future with it I already like the customizability of it and of course the big screen and everything else. Despite the little things.

I would say that anything with android on it would still be considered a google phone since google came up with android in the first place. They get a customer either way
However, I have no idea how they make money out of this since it is open source. Maybe they are like huge donators to a charity for all us techno geeks, just to make life more pleasant for us.
Just wanted to say I recently traded my tp2 for 200$ plus a G1, and I couldn't have been happier. The G1 is GREAT. It's not rooted yet, but I already like the experience more then the Tp2 with sense.
Im going to be trading the G1 for a Magic soon, and I will get sense on that. Im sure I will enjoy it even more then.
I liked winmo 6.5. But 7 looks like garbage to me. So I jumped ship from a dieing platform, and I suggest others to do so aswell. Android is great.

im since 2 years an windows mobile user .. it all started with my lg ks20 .. i also have been just playin around with the diamond...
i think compared to android winmo is just the better OS, because of so many apps ... when i need a windows mobile app for making my mobile an touchpad , i just type on google.com "touchpad wm6.5" ... and there are successfull hits...
so why android ? the hd2 has:
- a bigger screen (i think 4,3 " is my limit, otherwise it would be too big for my pocket ... so i dont think that i´ll get the hd3)
- faster processor
- more apps (but spread in the www)
- capability in porting other ROMs on it (since many years)
also i think, that windows mobile 7 looks just disgusting... its not "windows" anymore ... the weird (and really too simple) interface, just like with any self made OS from other devices ....
when i see the windows mobile home screen interface, i want 20 ways to open a program , otherwise it isnt windows.... this is the thing, why i prefer windows mobile... its complicated, but when you read the manual, its easy ... and its expandable (other apps and so on)...
Hope the HD2 will arrive in 2 weeks ... i think i will be pretty happy with it...

Your reasons why the HD2 (with WM 6.5) is better than Android:
1. Yes, it has a 4.3 inch screen, and currently there is no Android device that has such a huge screen. I myself find the screen beautiful, but would not mind using a slightly smaller screen. The HTC HD2 can be hard to use sometimes, because of that massive screen.
2. The 1 GHz processor is fast indeed, but the Nexus One and HTC Desire both have a 1 GHz processor as well. Since most people here are talking about the HTC Desire, this point makes no sense. Both have a 1 GHz processor.
3. Android Market = 20.000 apps and growing, fast. WM Marketplace = biggest Smartphone Application Store failure ever. Seriously.
And yes, there may be many 'apps' on the internet that you can use on the HTC HD2. But really, of what quality are they? First of all, they are random spread on the internet, so very hard to find. Secondly, they are made for Windows Mobile in GENERAL, or if you are lucky for Windows Mobile 6.5. But then again, it could be made for another device, with a 3.5 inch screen, which means it will not be optimized for the HTC HD2.
So what I am trying to say is: the HTC HD2 lacks good apps. Android Market on the other hand offers many applications, which are easy to find and install & usually better quality.
4. I think that you can use custom ROMs on Android devices as well, but I am no expert in that area.
So my vision is still, HTC Desire > HTC HD2

Android, unlike win mo, is an open source operating system so the scope for new roms, new featurs etc is better than Windows Mobile.
Check G1 Android Development or Nexus One Android Development to see the vast amount of roms avaliable.

Sorry mate but I think a mega fail on your part, you just bought a device that can only run at this stage on a dying OS that will be unsupported shortly. No new fancy apps or games..... And technically you are not a convert, so why you posting?
I will be switching to the desire after having my blackstone for a year. I hate win-mo. No matter which version (6.1 -too old, 6.5 - still ugly and looks the same as 6.1, or 6.5.x which looks slightly better but that's it) I always try and improve things. That's the prob I find, it doesn't do what most people want it to do straight out of the box. You have to apply a zillion reg fixes, patches, work arounds all to get something android does straight out of the box..... Can't wait!!!! been fiddling with android on my blackstone and it rules, so pretty and logical
For reference on the switching to Android from WM thing, I bought an n1 a month or so ago, with great hesitation, and came from a TP2. I've been an avid WM guy for about 2 years, mostly due to being amazed at eeeeverything you could do.
The just works thing is the best answer. But it's also more of a black box, yet more customizable. linux is no registry having windows system. however, sense on android makes wm touchflo rediculous. The home system is completely different but similar thinking. The Android homescreen with sense is seven screens, customizable completely and easily with either shortcuts or widgets, smaller tiny always on versions of programs that you choose. htc designed a widget to replace each pane on the WM version, for example text email weather etc.
But there is a big similarity. The weather clock, the dialer, the keyboard, and mostly the weather widget, is exactly, down to color and design, the same. And so when converting to Android, if you liked htc, the desire will be instantly usable.

By the way I am dying to have an Android phone released like the TP2, except more 2010: very thin, wider screen, good speakerphone nice keyboard. I'ld buy that droid in a heartbeat if it was gsm, b ut i hate the keyboard. thats the idea though, or like the toshiba g1 w/ the qwerty version.

I'm coming from a Touch HD running Winmo 6.1..... It's done a good job, but looking for a more intuitive UI, more apps and functionality (not limited by cupertino ) ...... android seems to tick all those boxes. From what I've seen WinMo 7 doesn't really appeal to me. Hope that app development for android will take off even more quickly.... but that should be the case given the growth of the platform. Waiting for my Desire.....

Blackberry Storm v1...the Desire is sooooo much better....This is my first android device.
Nothing beats the blackberry email service...unless theres a email spam filter for Android out there ?!?.... is there ? (sorry - i should really create a new topic for that question!)
Touch Diamond,wm 6.1
I was using a T-mobile G1 with Android 1.6 before the Desire.
I (am) was using HTC Kaiser, still waiting the Desire.
This waiting time is killing me, hopefully Clove really can deliver next week!
In the meantime (since yesterday), I installed Android 2.1 EClair on my HTC Kaiser. It works very well and I could use it to try and test Android apps
maybe add some more detail to this poll, such as hd2, touch pro 2, diamond 2, hero, g1, nexus one, blackberry storm etc
I have come from a Blackberry 8700 and still have an HP iPAQ Data Messenger for work.
And the missus has an iPhone. Just missing the Symbian I guess :lol:
selling my HD2 on eBay today, getting my desire on thursday. had a touch diamond before, and also a touch HD. Time for a change me thinks, Android is up and comng, not so limited either. especially with this site too
I was using a Nokia 5800XM then took on my girlfriends old HTC Tattoo...loved it so much i went for the Desire
HTC HD2. My Desire has opened up a whole new world for me! Would never go back to WM6.5 and very unlikely to go to WM7.
I still have a Samsung i8910 Omnia/Player HD, running Symbian OS S60v5. I'll be getting my Desire sometime next week hopefully.
I cannot wait to enter the Android world!
Only ever had WinMo OS devices, new to Android, got shot of my Orbit and bought a sim free LG Cookie, paired it with an o2 Simplicity sim, and we've been plodding away quite merrily over the past year

Finally got a high spec hardware Android from HTC to relieve me of the turmoil that is Windows Mobile. I spent years hoping they'd get their act together and create something usable but finally gave up and bought the Desire after using a Hero for a month last year.
Owned the HTC HD2, Touch HD, Touch Pro 2, Vario 2 & 3 so tried but Microsoft just couldn't get it right no matter how much the great Rom cookers such as Dutty and HTC's sense tried to cover the sham up. They did their best but at the end of the day, they were limited by WinMo underlying in there.
Freedom of the Desire is something I'm loving and I ain't looking back!
i also tried the Omnia HD (great hardware, poor OS), the Nokia 5800 (bad allround) and even Samsung Galaxy (shame it wasn't updated from 1.5 android as couldve been ok-ish!)
HTC have always impressed me and have moved forward in leaps and bounds over the last 3 years, coupling that with Android as it's now coming to maturity is a perfect combination.
I'm coming from a SE K800i so this Desire is a bit special !!
Came from HTC hero used for about 5 months before going desire 4 days ago....Can wait for Google's OS to come so that I can get rid of Windows 7 on my PC....

Now I must say I'm quite surprised to see how many people used platforms other than Android before getting an Desire. I'd say that's great, it means Android android adoption is speeding up.
The smartphones that I've used are listed in my signature. Of course I had many dumbphones before that, but those don't count any more
I think Android and iPhone OS are the only two real competitors in today's market because no other platform will ever catch-up. I might be wrong - you never know... So since I don't like closed nature of iPhone and no choice in hardware, I will stick with Android for a while.
As Windows Phone 7 was launched today we wanted to put up a poll based on general perception of the device. If you could buy one today, money not being an issue, would you? We want to see whether Windows phone 7 has been received well by the community.

Omnia 7 is at the top of my list atm. GSMARENA has a good review of the device already (no idea how they got hold of it)
Im gonna hang on to my current device and by a WP7 phone when they start coming out with a second line of phones.
just bought my desire. WinMo 7 doesn't look too customizable, but only time will tell
Former long time windows mobile user, not impressed, Ill stick with my EVO for now.
Going to get a better Android phone I think... probably Samsung Epic 4G now or Evo (more than the WP7) ones now.
Once I see multiple calendar support, we'll talk. As for now: never.
Like a lot of people here, I have a HTC HD2 and am running WM6.5 and Android 2.2 on it. So, for me, I'll consider a WP7 device once my HD2 either dies (let's pray it never happens) or maybe in 6-12months when it's time for an upgrade.

Me too.... HD2 forever
Our beloved HD2s can run any OS so why switch to WP7 when the HD2 already runs it (Not public yet!)
The hardware in most (currently presented) WP7 devices is as good as our HD2's
So.. maybe I will buy one if the hardware is superior to the HD2's!!!

Looks great to me, especially the Dell Venue Pro.
Sure, why not. Every HTC phone that I have had was Windows. Why would I give up now? I have played with the HTC EVO running Android, and I do not like it. I prefer Windows. That is my own personal opinion and choice from experience, and somewhat from what I have spoken with other people who have Android phones from different manufactures, which I have personaly tried and played with for a while with each and every one of them.
I just prefer Windows over anything else.
maybe and unsure is about the same.
im hoping it can be ported to the hd2. that'll save me some money
for sure i will buy the WP7 phone HD7 i think... as i am HTC fan as well as WM.
Not at this time. I love the interface. I just don't like the rest of the story. The system just locks you in. Perhaps if could be jailbroken, that would change things.
Well I got the HTC Desire on Android 2.2 and thus far I don't see anything I prefer in the Win 7 phones that would make me switch. If anything it has less functionality at present with no cut & paste, no tethering and no SD card. I do like some of the features though but will wait and see how they develop this, so for now it's a no.
I think Microsoft has missed a trick with the launch of WP7, by basing the OS entirely for phone devices. As with Android it can be used not only on phones but tablets as well and judging by how the community response to the Sammy Tab is high with enthusiasm i think MS should have looked further forward than just Windows 'Phone' 7 and evolved further ahead with appying its new OS to tablets as well, even if not making it available now but atleast showing a mock up to show its potential of being more than just a phone OS.

What?!? no cut & paste and no sd cards? where can I read up on WP7 features?
Also long time and big time WinMo fan, but I got the EVO and after rooting it, nothing can come close. Win7 simply went the way of iPhone, by locking everything down, so even if it weren't for the rooted EVO being so damned awesome and far above every other phone out there, I wouldn't get a Win7 phone out of iPhone-hatin' spite.

I Have been a long time user of wm and recently palm and android, I just got to the point where I wanted a straightforward uncontested smartphone that gives me the info I need on the move, wp7 meets my needs perfectly
I would consider trying out WP7 (even with all its deficiencies) but the ones being offered by AT&T are garbage. Just look at HTC Surround. Was this phone a inside joke by HTC? Slap on a some cheap, useless and bulky speakers on a phone and see how many people would rush to buy one just because it is different. Amazing how a bunch of designers came together and agreed on this model as one of their flagships.
The one phone that does interest me is the 7 Pro. But there is no word on when it will be out on US soil, it has only 8gb internal memory, and by the time the phone does come out it will be too little too late. Looks like I will be on my Tilt 2 for a while.
I was on Symbian, then wm6.5 then Symbian then WP7 with my HD7.
Coming from my Tilt2, which I loved dearly, but spent way too much time trying to tweak. The effortless speed of WP7 is a breath of fresh air.
I voted as an average user because technically this is my first smart phone w/ any type of data plan. I spent @ 10 hours playing with phones and reading forums before picking WP7. Didn't want iOS simply becuase I didn't want what masses already have. Considered Android because of all you can do to it and enjoyned playing with my wifes Aria. However every time I went to ATT I gravitated to the WP7 devices. I really liked the fresh new UE and the HTC Surround. I just like how it felt in my hands over the Focus and personally I think the speakers are neat and rock when compaired to any other "noise" you get from any other device. 100% pleased with my choice.
Average users dont visit xda and most of the other categories listed dont like WP7.

Maybe so. But like I said this is my first smart phone and although I have been too xda before I never really read much of the content on the page or forums. What should I have selected then?

My Focus is FAR superior to my HTC phones that I owned and loved. Didn't think I could do without a hardware keyboard, as I can't type on my wife's iPhone (after hours of trying). I still make a lot of mistakes, but, this phone corrects my typos accurately 99% of the time.
I don't miss the lag and drag of my Tilt2, which I overclocked to 748 mHz. Hopefully this phone won't fall apart like my HTCs.
I've been an Android user since the very beginning. I preordered a G1...and still own it, a MyTouch 3G, and a Vibrant. I was also impressed enough by the HD2 hardware to give WM a shot. Stock WM on the TMOUS HD2 was a mess...but that was nothing that a nice custom rom wasn't able to fix. I still enjoy using my HD2 on occasion. I also own an iTouch...which, of course, runs iOS (beautiful hardware, but mine is best at collecting dust). And, although it's a bit of an afterthought now, I also owned three Blackberries.
I really like Android. Nothing can touch it when it comes to customization. But, the inherent stuttering and occasional lag does get old...even though it's gotten much better in both departments and is now fairly smooth on most new phones. It's also not the prettiest thing in the world, in my opinion (I also think iOS is hidious looking...although nothing is smoother, but WP7 is nipping on its heels in that department).
I've owned my HD7 for nearly a week. I bought it with the full intention of returning it prior to the end of my 14 grace period...unless it totally blew my mind. Well, consider my mind blown. I now believe that it's a keeper. Keeping in mind that WP7 is currently just at v1.0, I believe that MS has done a better job than both Apple and Google. Yes, there are a few features missing....but there's good reason for that...and the upcoming update is very likely to address those deficiencies.
For v1.0, MS focused on the UI, and it shows. My HD7 is incredibly smooth and blazing fast. The UI is intuitive, efficient, beautiful, and fun. The few issues with it are also things that were lacking in both iOS and Android initially...and it took both Apple and Google substantually longer to address them than what it's taken MS. Many people are saying that these things should've been included from the get go. I say that MS has created a masterpiece, and that...as long as the missing features are addressed in a timely manner....whatever they had to do to get the rest right was ok in my book.
MS was down...and all the haters thought that they were out. I never felt that way, but I was skeptical that they were going to be able to deliver something that would truly rival the offerings from Google and Apple. I was wrong....and so were/are all the haters.
I am as unbiased as it gets. I own devices that run all 4 major mobile OS'...and know their strengths, and weaknesses, inside out. I now consider WP7 to be my favorite. MS has laid a foundation that surpasses the foundations that both Google and Apple initially laid. Things are only going to get better from here on out...and I'm excited to see how far MS can take this.
Does this refer to what platform I was JUST on before making the jump to WP7? Because I have owned iPhone, Android, AND Symbian based phones as my past Smartphones. Also, how come Symbian or BlackBerry is not included in the poll? That is a glaring omission....
Also missing is Blackberry.
I came from android but I ticked other as I think that would be the main target for MS most android users love its openness iPhone users are to loyal even though ots hardly changed and old MS users want the buseness features more than the play. As I said I came from android but I always planned to change before I bought my desire so I don't think it counts.
have been a long time htc user first the tilt then the tilt 2. loved my tilt2, got the surround and returned it due to battery life.... never thought id like a samsung device, seeing how my girlfriend went through about five instincts, and four or five various other sprint samsung phones,,, but i must say i love my Samsung Focus...........
Windows Mobile User Tried and True
Ive been a Windows Mobile User since its inception and I have to say Microsoft has out done themselves. Just need to bring on the Business access like remote desktop and ICS. Still have my HP IPaq 1945, Tilt, and Tilt 2. I know own the Samsung Focus. We also need a XDA App for Windows Mobile 7.

I have used most of the modern smartphone OS's (see signature), just waiting for a good Android tablet now that Honeycomb is almost here ...

You haven't tried the Samsung Galaxy Tab? Outstanding smaller tablet. Has 16GB built-in and a slot for up to 32GB extra. Has front and rear cameras and can be used as a phone....with the install of a specific app.
What do I vote as? I moved from an HD2 which was running Android but I also have an iPod Touch and iPad :S

Hmm being only 1 of those is a phone and the topic is "Who is buying windows phone 7" key word phone. That narrows it down to which one of the 3 to consider IMO. And since your using Android on your HD2 I would think you should vote as an Android user.
