Hi, try unzip© attached file into windows directory of your device.
THANKS
Thanks Sir ,,,
U R Grea Man Really
Thank you, just what I was Looking for.
I had a problem with the password TWICE!! my P3600 does not recognize my password after i power off and on the device. i had to do a hard reset in order to use the device again, then i'd lost all my data. i am a Apple user so i did not back it up, actually i do not know how to sync my WM6 with my Apple.
now i do not use the password in fear that it may happen again. is this a bug with WM6? apparently a few people have experience this as well.
Hi,
it's a problem which happens if the device is reset before the change in the registry is written into the flashrom.
Turn the device off by holding the powerbutton down for about 10s, then you should be fine.

i did not power off/on, or reset, the device right after i created the password. the password was working fine when the device goes into the sleep mode. in fact, i am sure the password was fine as well when i power off/on a couple of times. it just seems to happen randomly without a pattern.
your suggestion seems logical enough, but i know for sure it was LONG enough for it to update the registry.
Good, someone else with this problem. I posted this in Shaps rom thread on Monday but got no reply.
I flashed a standard WM5 Orange M700 up to Schaps new rom.
First i sim unlocked it.
Then hard SPL
Then flashed the ROM
Got everything set up and must have rebooted a few times in different ways after setting the password and then 1 time it just wouldnt accept the password.
Hard reset, did everything again and same thing. I set the password the first thing when i first booted the device this time though and since that i must have reset about 5 or 6 times without problem when installing things like Random Access and stuff you obviously have to reboot. Then again after half an hour or so after another soft reset and it locks me out.
I flashed to a dif WM6 rom after this and i havent heard that there has been an issue yet.

okay. I just reread your first post... you said you were not able to back up data...
for me, I use PIM Backup by dotFred because it backs up the PIM on storage card, and can be restored on any WM version using the same program. (i.e. between wm5 and wm6) PIM data would be contacts, messages, call logs, calendard, etc.
if you'd really need to sync your pocket-pc to mac, you can see this
http://www.eltima.com/products/syncmate/
the one at sourceforge is still under development...

hey again,
i downloaded syncmate a few weeks ago, it works great. then today, it says my beta version expired and i should go to www.eltima.com to get the newer version. i tried but with no luck. i downloaded what appears to be the latest, yet whenever i start it up, i get the expired error again.
do you have any more info on this software? or anyone in this forum use this software to sync between Mac ans WM6?
i have the same "syncmate expired"-problem. I use HTC 3300 (WM6). It has worked for many weeks, but today i get this problem.

If its a cab file you're trying to install, copy it anywhere on the phone. Then using file explorer on your phone, click on the cab file and installation will begin.
If its an exe file, these install from your pc through Activesync. On your pc(with phone connected), click on the exe file and it will copy the files to your phone. It will then tell you to check your phone, which will then look like you had just started a cab file installation.
If either cab or exe asks you if you want to install to device or storage card, it should be your choice unless the creator has specified otherwise.
Some files require rebooting the phone after installation. Most will tell you before they reboot, and some creators will tell you its necessary. In this case you should manually reboot it if the installation doesn't automatically do it for you.
just out of curiosity. how did you manage to flash 6.1 on the phone when you are unsure of how to install a simple application?

be a little more specific man..
for the keyboard go look in the sticky ontop of this forum and download the keyboard file to your pc. plug your phone into the pc and let it sync. then take that file and through activesync > explorer put it on your phone
on your phone, go to where that file is located and just execute it..install to device. then reboot the phone when its done installing.

there are sticky's full of instructions for installing new roms....followed by 1000 pages of the same questions and the same answers.

You honestly think hes the one? I didn't think installing cabs was that hard. Put cab on phone, click on it from explorer, and wait just a bit, Done. I really don't think he is the chosen one. In fact, I would venture a guess that it was pure luck he was able to get 6.1 flashed at all. No offense. I nominate Gixxum to be his personal tutor
which is why id like to know how or what instructions he followed.
I didn't think you was being a jerk, infact i found your answer rather commicle, so i had to reply with comedy, i just imagined he followed the forum thread and think from his answer i was correct? But maybe not?

Im glad you guys are having fun at my expense, this is how I figured it out. It was posted in this forum, I wish I had the name on it, but I give thanks to ever wrote this and am sorry I didnt have the nameHeres how to beat the 270 error.
When running the installer, "push any key" through the first few steps as it says.
When the queue comes up saying "press center key and screen should turn white", "press any key to continue"
FIRST - press any key, to bring up the next queue
SECOND - now push the center button on your phone, and it should turn white
THIRD - push any key on your PC to start the actual flash.
If you do step 2 before 1, it will still continue onto the flash screens, but will Error 270 at 1-10%.....
Hope this helps some of you!

Error 720 is/has nothing to do with "Installing programs"
Think about it.
That was regards to gixxum, and in my post of installing programs, I clearly stated installing the keyboard and I believe the sirius program. I am sorry for all the confusion. Later

Im almost afraid to say it, but no, I put them on the phone and it seems to install but nothing after that, I have learned to type with what ever text is on there though.

Try this, the fix unread count cab:

Did you try a Forum search first? This is a pretty common problem.
by flash I assume you mean ROM's? this is well covered with detailed instructions and tutorials look at the stickys on the touch pro 2 custum rom subforum. pay attention that you dont flash gsm rom's to cdma device. cdma device is the sprint/verizon tp2. use the search function
for your phantom message try going to all messages from the message tab and just open everything i have had to do that a couple times.
start off by looking for hardspl on your device thats the first step. from there you can go down the rabbit hole as far as you want. have fun

Hello!
I'm using a HTC Desire with a the "Pre-rooted Stock Froyo" ROM by teppic74.
Today I've received an OTA update notification from HTC, which I haven't accepted yet because it would probably break my ROM (by the way, it seems like teppic didn't disable the OTA update notifications in this ROM).
The size of the update is 6.34 MB.
Has anyone else received the OTA update? Anyone knows what's updated?
EDIT: As I've read somewhere, it increases the software version number to 2.29.405.14 from 2.29.405.05

Yes... increases... version number used to end in 05, with the update it would end in 14.
I don't know what changes in functionality this update is supposed to bring.
Hey i just received the system update actually its called "system enhancement 6.34 MB"
And i ofc clicked on yes, phone restards and then when the "package icon" aka the lets say progress bar starts it just stops and a "!" along with an android maskot appears... cant update, my phone is rooted tho...so, any suggestions or news to this update in general i would appreciate!
ps.i hope you get what i wanted to say
I've been seeing this in other forum when I googled it and looks like no one doesn't have any idea about what the update contains.. yet.
It's nice to see the good old Froyo still getting "enhancements".
Old? Sure. Good? Not by a long shot.
I only had Froyo for a couple of weeks before I rooted and flashed Gingerbread and never used Eclair sooo I'll take your word for it. Haha
If your using a custom RoM, you should never apply OTA updates.
@DroidZone: maybe citing the message just before yours isn't necessary? Just asking.
@shankly1985: you're not helping us who are dealing with this problem as I can pretty much certify we all know that: just read the original post and other comments.
I registered here to ask about this and maybe have an answer. The thing is I am NOT using a custom ROM. I am using the original HTC ROM that came with my Desire 14 months ago. BUT I have rooted the phone in anticipation of installing MIUI – I was desperately looking for a two-way recording of phone calls that never made it into MIUI. So I've installed ClockWorkMod as well as ROM Manager. I too have experienced exactly what @Drizzline describes. System update notification, phone restarting, exclamation icon that seems to be from ClockWorkMod and not from the OS.
My question is: how can I apply the system update, knowing that I have never installed a custom ROM on my device nor made any changes to the factory-installed – and subsequently updated – vendor-provided ROM?

None of the methods I found around Googling (clearing cache, factory reset) could fix this issue. Now I'm really pissed off and I don't know what to do, except waiting for another update from HTC.
"System enhancements"? Hah
@vodoomoth, Stop telling people what to do and what not to.. Who do you think you are, barging into a forum and being a pompous ass with your first post?
If telling that I think repeating a the whole post above might not be necessary when I reply with one line is telling people what to do and what not to do, then yes, I am a pompous ass. No, actually, I am a stupid arrogant pompous ass. But I didn't write the Netiquette, I just read it and it's pretty standard in forums. Sorry to be the one to remind you that there is no need to cite an entire message and reply with just one single word and a question mark!
I doubt you were talking about me telling shankly1985 that his "do not apply OTA updates on custom ROMs" was not helping. Oh yes, I am not the person who hasn't read the opening post where that concern is pretty obvious.
However, I don't see how my post is summed up as "barging into" a forum. I didn't know some behaviors were not allowed in first posts but only in later posts. Sorry for that again. I guess I should have not written a first post.
To other people, sorry for the off-topic.

It actually does: imagine if my screen doesn't light up anymore. Then I would send my phone to repair. But I wouldn't be able to restore any RUU, since I wouldn't see anything and I couldn't be sure my phone was restored successfully or not.

If you screen died, all you'd have to do is boot fastboot, and watch the RUU process and your pc screen, so you stand corrected as you would know if it's restored.
And I don't really see what all the hype is about.. I bet it doesn't even do anything.
