Currently got this issue happening daily
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=676866
If I lose reception at any point, I have to either turn Airplane Mode on and off or restart the phone to get ANY sort of reception.
Currently on 1.15.405.4 Generic Rom with Baseband version 32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11
I have the same problem, sometimes I cannot connect to 3g though restarting phone helps.
I think radio update will help!

Hi everybody,
i tested a lot of radio rom so far and i still have an issue.
Sometimes during the boot the 'no gsm' message appears and i need to reset the device to let it works.
Other times during the day it looses the signal and freeze.
Actually i'm using the schaps 4.00 and rom 1.47.0.10.
I use a 3 and a wind sim as backup.
Any ideas? Something corrupted or the device has some problems?
Thanks
Acr
the same thing happens to me except with the 1.54 radio, most other radios that i have tried say that i don't have a sim in or unknown sim status and ask me for a pin.
Hi,
the same with 1.54 radios. Well.. a little less..
So i suppose it's something dealing with the radio and not the device itself.
Any other experience guys?
Hi,
Since a couple of days my Desire won't register on the GSM network. The sim is working fine if I put it in another phone, so that's not an issue.
The message I get when trying to manually choose my network is "Your simcard does not allow a connection to this network"?!
After some browsing on the web it seems that this happens sometimes but I cannot find a way to get it resolved. One of the tricks should be to manually toggle the network mode to GSM only or WCDMA only. The strange thing is that when I try that the phone instantly swithes back to GSM/WCDMA auto. To manually change network mode is not possible. Is this an indicator that something is wrong?
I have tried to re-flash the rom, installing the latest radio, toggeling flight mode on/off, etc.
What else can I do get it resolved?
Currently running my rooted Desire with:
LeeDroid 3.0.7
Radio 5.17.05.23
Appreciate the support!
Thx!
Anders
I think you should try the offical RUU .. than you can make out if it is a hardware problem or software.. make sure to prepare all thing while your phone is in working state, before flashing offical RUU make sure u have usb debbuging enabled, adb driver working. and a goldcard..
Hi there
Ok starting from the start.
My phone is not rooted (it is still s-on).
The phone was bought on ebay a couple months ago.
It has been working fine.
Yesterday, when pressing the power button to unlock, the lights came on but the screen did not.
This happened a number of times after rebooting the phone, then eventually it randomly came on again.
However, the signal, never came back. The phone thinks it's in 'airplane mode' when I press call. There is no airplane icon up top. I have turned airplane mode on and off each way, rebooted, hard reset and cleared all the data from sd card and phone. Wifi works, but signal is still 0.
Still same problem.
When pressing further, I noticed in the 'About' section of the phone, that the BASEBAND is UNKNOWN! So is the imei number etc.
I did a few google searches and couldn't find much; although it was suggested that I reflash the stock rom. I am unsure how to do this.
Please could somebody point me in the right direction, because I am panicing here.
Thanks very much

You can use the European version in Canada as well just fine if you happen to be here.
I flashed it to upgrade my radio version to get rid of GPS issues while using Jikantaru's XE ROM and it worked.
Ended up using the Euro version as my main ROM until 7.2 of Cyanogen from Alquez came out.
Still have an issue with the wifi in that so I, at Alquez's suggestion, use the libril.so from that Euro stock rom in Cm7.2 and it works much better.
The Euro stock release was solid in all regards, strong wifi, GPS, phone signal, etc.
Just follow the instructions on how to flash a stock rom.
Thanks guys. Will let you know how it goes.
I just turned the phone on without a sim card and it all came back (nothing was 'unknown'. Does this mean that the sim has something to do with it!?
Hey
I just wiped my phone and installed InsertCoin 19.0-4. Before I had an older version of InsertCoin with no troubles.
Thing is, the phone never asks for a pin code, it doesn't connect to the mobile network at all. Also, under software information I get "baseband unknown". I tried enabling and redisabling airplane mode but to no avail, and reflashing rom makes no difference.
Am I just out of luck here and need to go back to a previous version or is there some solution?
Thx for helping :good:
Nevermind......problem solved by itself.. have no clue what went wrong. Can I delete my own threads somehow?
This is my first post here, so apologies if this isn't where my post belongs or I screw something else up.
So, I had a previous CM on my phone for awhile, whichever used 4.0.4 as memory serves.
Decided to try a 4.4.x based rom, and found a 4.4.2 rom which actually has a working camera, which seems to be always the problem with roms for the Gio.
I *thought* everything had gone smoothly, only to realize that my phone had no connection to the Mobile Network wasn't working. it took me a moment to figure out how to get that connection to work as this had not been a problem previously. my problem is the connection seems to be forgotten, on occasion, with little or no warning that I can neither make or receive calls nor SMS. Forcing me to search for the network, and reconnect.. shouldn't this happen automatically?
I hope I've provided enough information to be useful, if not I'd naturally be happy to provide what I can.
Thanks!
I'm on Virgin Mobile in Canada

I am using CM11 RC9 also meet the same problem, after a soft reboot then it show "Mobile Network Is Not Available", everything is work except using mobile network to surf the internet.
And there has another problem, sometime Wifi suddently no data transfer, I have to turn it off and turn on again, and it's working again.
A newly flashed rom or sudden reboots activates 3G network mode. So switch to 2G in these cases.
It's a 3g/2g phone and 2g coverage doesn't seem to be as good in this area. I could understand if I were in a low-coverage area but it seems to be intermittent, it will be working fine, and then stop, then it will have trouble finding a network after searching multiple times. even then, again, should it not be doing something like this automatically? It shouldn't require manual intervention every time I lose signal.

Okay, I was out with the phone today and it was constantly losing the signal then not being able to find any networks "error searching for networks" so I think this rom is not really in a good place yet, I'll have to try my luck with something else.
Looks like it was a noob mistake on my part, I think the baseband was changed to an American S5660 one, namely XXKS2
I was able to apply one from an older Canadian S5660M rom from samfirmware.com, namely UGKG3.
So I *think* it's sorted, but I'll keep you up to date.
