Hi,
Since a couple of days my Desire won't register on the GSM network. The sim is working fine if I put it in another phone, so that's not an issue.
The message I get when trying to manually choose my network is "Your simcard does not allow a connection to this network"?!
After some browsing on the web it seems that this happens sometimes but I cannot find a way to get it resolved. One of the tricks should be to manually toggle the network mode to GSM only or WCDMA only. The strange thing is that when I try that the phone instantly swithes back to GSM/WCDMA auto. To manually change network mode is not possible. Is this an indicator that something is wrong?
I have tried to re-flash the rom, installing the latest radio, toggeling flight mode on/off, etc.
What else can I do get it resolved?
Currently running my rooted Desire with:
LeeDroid 3.0.7
Radio 5.17.05.23
Appreciate the support!
Thx!
Anders
I think you should try the offical RUU .. than you can make out if it is a hardware problem or software.. make sure to prepare all thing while your phone is in working state, before flashing offical RUU make sure u have usb debbuging enabled, adb driver working. and a goldcard..

Just rooted my Desire using instructions from Modaco, but have the following issue :
I have no data connection. No matter what I try it always tells me 'unable to connect, you need a network connection in order to..... etc. Wifi is off at present (not one around at work) and all the settings are to Vodafone as they should be. Can make/receive calls without issue. It's a fully unlocked phone so no idea why it's suddenly not able to connect data wise. This is the case whether I try to setup Exchange, browse the web or open Facebook etc.
Any ideas please anyone? I've checked all settings, rebooted etc but to no avail.
Someone, somewhere said that in some cases (don't remember which) APNs presets are missing after rooting. Check your APN setting.
1. Make sure your APN settings are 100 correct.
2. Go to Menu--Settings-->Wireless and networks-->Mobile Networks-->Network Mode--Switch to GPRS and then Back to Auto
Worked for me.

Mo
GOod call, it was the APN settings. Added one as below and all connected straight away :
Name : Vodafone
APN : Internet
Username : web
Password : web

Are you using a Branded or UnBranded Desire??
see this thread for more info

But at a guess you might need a GoldCard and then Flash it with a new ROM/Radio settings
Hi guys, I have rooted my htc desire and flashed with it with Oxygen.
However I have a problem - my phone will not connect to my mobile operator?
When I select "about phone > status > signal strength" that shows -93db and 10asu - So does that mean there is signal?
The desire was branded and locked to Orange. At first I thought it was a simlock issue, but I have a unlock code. Every time I restart the device it asks me to input the code, however it still does not allow me to connect to my operator (O2 uk).
After going through a few threads I am stumped so I am seeking advice! I have tried different radio versions to no avail, different ROMs also so can anyone offer some suggestions as to the solution please?
Anyhelp would greatly be appreciated, thanks!

removed sim lock (with help from an indian guy in a phone shop) - works with three network
updated radio (5.11.05.27) - worked
replaced stock rom with cyanogen v7 rc2 from sd using clockwork mod recovery - worked but no google apps
using rom manager and mobi network installed v7 rc2 clear data and cashe + google apps - worked but!
now phone does not alow access to mobile networks but detects networks. does not ask for unlock code.
tried re-flashing and checking everything.

Does any know the default radio version for a black orange htc desire?
Mine came with 32.48.00.32U_5.10.05.30

1. Reset/restore your APN
settings - wireless & network - mobile networks - access points
You should see your provider and a check box. Press the menu button, select reset to standard and wait till it's done (or add manually).
The path was translated from german, so please look for the appropriate setting on your phone.
2. If your sd card doesn't mount or usb doesn't connect, search for usb brick fix here in the forum.
3. If 1 or 2 doesn't help, wipe everything (not your sd card!) and reflash your rom. After rebooting flash again the latest radio.
thanks for the responses, I have tried resetting apn but that did not work for me. I have however managed to solve this problem by restoring stock RUU and unrooting. I then reflashed oxygen and all is working fine.
My radio version is running on 32.41.00.32U_4.08.00.09 currently, however I will update this to the latest version 5 radio and see if my connection or simlock occurs. Do you guys think that a radio update is necessary or that I should keep the one that I have now?
Thanks
any chance you could post how you restored stock ruu
I use Runny ROM v7.0.2 and week ago I changed SIM cards in my Desire, I put another provider. And after that I have serious problems with singal
When phone is in standby it doesn't have any bar of signal and nobody can get me. After 2-3 seconds when it's wake, I get 3 of 5 bars. In RCMix3D Tweaks under "phone information" I use GSM auto (PRL), I tried WCDMA preferred but it's not better. In wireless & networks, under mobile network I tried GSM/WCDMA and GSM only and get the same issue. I also made new APNs.
Radio is 32.56.00.32U-5.17.05.23., also I flashed 3 different ROMs (Runnymede AIO, RunnyROM & Alex-V 1.8 Sense) = nothing helped.
Last what I would try is to flash official RUU (make unroot etc.) to see if it will work normally again.
Can somebody help me with problem, I think it is hardware issue but I have some hope that is software so I can or you can fix it??
Thank you
It seems that on official RUU everything is OK I'll try root it again and flash another custom ROM.
edit: using stock gingerbread ROM, rooted with radio 5.17.05.08. For now seems ok
problem is still here, it seems when I enable always on mobile data that I have the signal when in sleep mode but today again I had issues
Now I flashed 5.17.05.23 radio to see if it will help
I really think it is hardware problem, I will send it to repair to see what they say
Hi All,
I'm hoping someone out there could help me with a very puzzling problem I've been having since yesterday on my HOX.
I recently moved back to Australia and bought a SIM from Vaya, who use the Optus Network. Everything was working fine for the first 4 or 5 days, but since yesterday, I have been unable to connect to the Optus network for the majority of the time and when I have been able to, it has only lasted for a short period and then I lose reception again. I did not make any change to the phone in the last week, besides regular automatic updates to installed apps like Facebook, etc. I have also tried the SIM card in another phone and it is working fine, so figure it must be a problem with the phone, and not the network or SIM card.
When I try searching for networks, sometimes I can see YES OPTUS, and when I try to connect it gives me the message "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network", and other times it just cannot see the network at all, even when in the same location where I have full bars on another phone. I have rebooted the phone several times, gone into the phone diagnostic screen and set the radio bands to AUS, AUS2 and back to Automatic in case that may have been the problem as well.
I have a WWE HTC One X, CID HTC_001, bought factory unlocked, rooted, S-ON running:
Rom: ViperX 2.7.0,
Kernel: Faux 010m
Baseband: 2.1204.135.20
Build: 2.17.401.2 CL89015 release-keys
HBOOT: 0.43.000
Any ideas?? I'm just really puzzled by this since it was working for the first few days and just stopped working overnight after nothing that I can think of has changed
Nobody?
make the setttings for the internet urself..or try to use another SIM card in ur phone and see if you still have that problem ..better use a sim another carrier..
I had this problems and a manual configuration for the internet resolved it
Yeah, it's not an apn problem, it can't connect to the network provider at all (to make phone calls or sms's).
Having a little trouble getting my hands on another micro SIM, but will hopefully have some luck soon
I've done a lot of searching around here and couldn't find anything that could get my WiFi working again. A while back I was following a tutorial that would let me edit my network bands, but I could never get it to work.. Shortly after I noticed my WiFi stopped working. I'm not sure if it's a coincidence or not. Anyways, I've tried everything. I've used stock RUU's to flash it back to stock (erasing everything), installed different ROMs, Kernels, etc. I've noticed the WiFi will work shortly after a fresh install but after a bit it just stops. Turning it on will give a WiFi error followed by "settings has stopped working". I've even opened up my phone and made sure the antennas were connected correctly but that didn't do anything. My Bluetooth works just fine though!
I'm s-off and rooted
Helped one of my friend - installed latest firmware update, but he has phone without root and locked bootloader + s
-on
Where can I find the firmware update?
Did you try using a different SSID ?
Or did you verify the RUU flashes clean ?
Maybe your WiFi Chip is broken
