Installed the apps2sd after rooting, constantly rebooting at htc screen, tried to install a custom rom to see if this would fix after doing a wipe and still rebooting at the htc screen.......any advice much appreciated! any way out of this or bricked?
ignore got it going again phew
How did you fix it?
reinstalled the rom and did another total wipe seemed to fix it thank god panicking there lol.......still no apps2sd though....
APPS2SD is very very buggy on the Desire for some reason. Getting it to work is very hit and miss so it's best to wait for FroYo.

Another newbie question sorry... I have successfully rooted my desire as per paul's guide.
I'm now trying to put Pays sparta rom on it but when it has been flashed and i try to boot my phone, it goes to the white HTC screen and then to a black screen with just HTC written on it.... and never gets any further.
If I go back to stock rom or the rooted one, that's fine but I cannot get this or other roms to work.
Am I missing something?
I've wiped to factory defaults, wiped the dalvik stuff etc and then loaded the rom from the SD card.
I'd love to get a custom rom on my phone but am struggling so any help would be massively appreciated.
Thanks!

Did you partition your SD card while in recovery mode just after flashing the rom? That is probably what was causing it.
Try again but remember to partition your SD card before you reboot.
I had the same problem that you are seeing and it's now all ok.
As the first post in the Pays thread says, use AM desire recovery to wipe the various areas and it should then work fine.
I was just being a divvy....
It was taking ages because of the Apps2SD stuff... transferring files to the SD card.
Done and dusted now and loving Pays Sparta rom.
Hello,
I hope someone can help. My HTC Desire keeps crashing, I get system error FC / Wait errors, or it wont wake up from stand-by and I have to take the battery out to get it to boot.
I thought it was because I under-clocked it, so I uninstalled SetCPU but that hasn't fixed it, and I am running OpenDesire 4.0.25 if thats any help.
I have Radio-5.10.05.23 installed.
H-Boot 0.80
Clockwork Mod 2.5.0.1
I've tired full wipes from the recovery menu, and re-installing OpenDesire but that didnt work.
I wanted to download the offcial firmwares but the download links go really slow, then stop downloading corrupting the file.
If anyone has any ideas please please help
Thanks in advance
Ben
Try downloading a different ROM from a different DEV and give that a try.
New ROM,
Full wipe/factory reset, etc.
OK thanks! Ill give it a go. About to download DeFroST...
Sorry to start a new thread. I have read the rules about posting and have searched for the last couple of days for an answer but can't find one.
I am unable to install ANY apps whatsoever and it is driving me crazy. I have an HTC Desire (obviously) and am using Pays ROM Froyo Sense v2.2 A2SD+ (updated just the other day). (And yes, I wiped everything like you are supposed to do, before and after the update.) I don't think the problem is with the ROM itself because the problems started before the update.
I am able to download apps from the market but it seems to get hung up on the installation itself. It never stops installing and I am not even getting a failed installation message.
I have gone to Settings>Applications>Manage applications and cleared the data and cache for all of the normal suggested apps and have even force closed a few. Nothing is working, even when I try to install .apk files which are located in the download folder of my SD card.
One strange thing I have noticed is that when I go to Settings>Applications>Manage applications, the amount of space being used never displays anything other than 'computing....' I know sometimes it can take a while for the size to be displayed but surely not an hour!
I have even restored the default/factory settings to see if that helped but nothing!!! grrrrr.....
I am reaching the end of my rope and would appreciate any advice offered. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this isn't a newbie mistake and thanks in advance for any help!
have you tried another rom see if the problem persists? it usuall only takes a minute for manage applications to find all my apps and i have looooooads also no problem with market, do a nandroid, and try another rom, if its still the same you can always restore your nandroid, i suggest maybe leedroid
Thanks so much for your reply! Was really hoping to avoid trying another ROM but I am going to give LeeDroid a try and hopefully that will sort out my app problem. Just finished downloading it, will flash and post back soon. Thanks again!

like i said do a nandroid, if leedroid dosent work then, you can just restore your backup and your rom will be exactly the same as it was b4 you flash leedroid
FIXED!!! Thank you so much!! Am happily running LeeDroid.
Just FYI: Usually, I have such a problem installing but I leave it (it shows nothing downloading). Upon restarting the phone (whenever), the apps automatically install.

- HTC Desire via XDA App -
I've tried searching the forum on this one, and I can't quite find a thread that describes my exact problem. For the most part, people's problems seem to be resolved by performing a full wipe prior to installing a ROM.
I rooted my Desire (Telus GSM, SLCD screen) a long ways back, using Unrevoked 3. I loaded clockwork recovery 2.5, and upgraded the radio. After a while I wanted to try some custom ROMs, or at least get Froyo. I tried Leedroid primarily, plus a few others. I always wipe/factory reset, wipe cache, and wipe Dalvik cache beforehand.
Every ROM I tried had the same problem - it would install, and boot up perfectly. I could use the phone, install apps, etc. But as soon as I would reboot the phone, it would freeze at the green HTC screen and never go past this again.
I finally found one ROM that worked - it was a stock HTC Sense Froyo ROM.
Its getting to the point where I wanted to upgrade again, to Gingerbread this time. I've tried Oxygen and Redux, and they both hang at the HTC logo on the first reboot as before.
I've played with partitioning with my SD card with gparted, resizing the FAT32 partition and putting an EXT3 partition on the end, and when that didn't fix it repartitioning the card from scratch. I also upgraded to a newer radio. Same result..
I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this on their Desire and gotten past it. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of time to mess around right now, but I'd appreciate any suggestions and I'll try them as soon as I can.
Please could someone help me?? I successfully rooted, s-off, etc etc flashed insertcoin and was very very happy with all working well until today...
I went to my phone and it had turned itself off. I turned it on and it just comes up with the Are you Serious screen and nothing else happens. It vibrates, turns off then the same screen comes on again. Am rather desperate as dont have a home phone and awaiting call from my son.....
What on earth has gone wrong?? It was working so well!
If anyone can help me, am very grateful
Annaluba
Do Full wipe, and reinstall the ROM
Oh blimey, thanks for replying! Feeling really panicked now... So, sorry to be pain, but do I go into recovery?
Thank You!!
Yes, and do all wipes
Yes recovery, to get here turn off your phone. Now hold vol- and power.
When you're in recovery do Full Wipe/Factory reset, cache and dalvik cache wipe.
Reflash ROM.
Btw. it wont broke itself, you probably flashed/installed something which caused this...
Oh thank you. Going to do that now.
Thank you very much. Have done it and now back on my phone!! I must have installed something dodgy but cant think what it was. Will now start the laborious process of installing all apps again....nevermind, at least I have a working phone thank god!
Thanks again!
Erm, having another problem. Trying to get into market and am getting alot "sorry, the application MarKet (process com.android vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Not sure whats happened? Should I re-flash insertcoin or do you think it could have problems and maybe I should try another?? If I do try another rom, do I still have to do a nandroid backup because this one is not working properly??
Thanks again
Well, perhaps try another Rom and give it a test? All is just by test and trials

Try fixing permissions from recovery, never had the problem but I have heard that is ment to fix fc issues
Also use titanium backup to backup your apps... so when you reflashing ROM you wont lose them.
About the market issue, try to clear cache and data for Market.app (Settings/Applications/All)
Everything working fine now.... thanks alot guys. Gave me a bit of a fright but am learning all the time!!
