MMS Settings for T-Mobile UK - Desire General

For the benefit of people in the future who find the search button I thought I'd stick up the MMS settings for T-Mobile UK. My desire is an Orange one, but my sim is T-mob. Anyway I got these off my girlfriends G1.
Goto Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names
Press menu and 'New APN' and enter: (the stuff in brackets is a comment you don't input this)
Name: T-Mobile UK (dont think this matters but it might...)
APN: general.t-mobile.uk
Username: t-mobile
Password: .. (dot dot)
Server: * (star)
MMSC: http://mmsc.t-mobile.co.uk/8002/
MMS Proxy: 149.254.201.135
MMS Port: 8080
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
MMC: 234
MNC: 30
Everything else is blank.
Hope this helps someone
JAmes.

Can you tell me why I'd need this, what extra it offers please?

You don't if you've got your phone from T-mobile, but for those that didn't but are on T-mobile will need this to get MMS functionality.

For example:
I have in outlook contacts and outlook automatic format telephone number in next format:
+386 31123456
then I have synced contact by HTC Sync and I can't send MMS to this contacts in phone.
For example I can send SMS normaly when select contact but MMS is not send if I select same contact.
Im send this to HTC and will see what they will say...
Nine times out of ten when trying to send a multi part message I found I was getting the same not sent, retrying error. Very infuriating.

MMS isn't working for me too. Same operator. In meteor 'My Meteor' I can't choose send settings to Desire, it isn't supported yet (most likely that's never gonna happen). Tried send SETTINGS to 50047, got reply 'Sorry your current phone does not support this service'.

You must manual setup APN's. Ask your mobile operator for settings for HTC Desire , HTC Legend, HTC Hero or some another Android phone...
Had the same problem when I first got my phone. Here is what I did with my phone:
Go to settings>wireless and networks>mobile networks>access point names once you are here, click on the menu button and reset to default. That should sort your problem.

Yes for me now work ok. Problem for me has been that outlook use from regional settings some data and if country have "area code" then change phone number from:
+38631123456
to
+386 31123456
So phone number have space. Calling and SMs work ok with this contact but MMS don't work(on WM on my old HTC TyTnII this same contact work ok).
When Im Im edit all contacts on phone and remove "space" from phone numbers MMS work normaly...
Im report this to HTC but they said that this is problem of outlook and I must disable this formating in outlook(Im check in settings but there is not avalible this option). Only way to disable this formating is change region to example "seychelles" which don't have any area codes...
Probably the same annoyance as the N1 has; the messaging app not resizing enough, try sending a sub 300kb picture and see if it works.
still no solution
still no working...operator meteor ireland

Finnaly I got my mms to work! How I did it? I don't have a idea.
Here are a steps what I did:
1. Deleted Username and password in Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Access point names > (MMS option)
2. Tried send a mms (no success)
3. Filled back username (my) and password (mms) in Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Access point names > (MMS option) >
4. Tried Retry send a mms (no success)
5. Turned off a Mobile network in Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Network (don't turn off with widget, I think that was my key to success)
6. Turned back a Mobile network (same place)
7. Tried Retry send a mms
8. Whola! My mms sended successfully!
I hope it will helps somebody.

Desire APN's not saving

Hi there,
I am unable to add APN's to my desire for some reason. Whenever I add details and attempt to save them the APN isn't displayed in the APN list.
I have noticed however that this only occurs when I change the MCC or MNC to anything other than default.
Ive got some settings from a friends Nexus One who is on the same network that I am (MTN South Africa) and his works fine.
These are his settings:
INTERNET
name: MTN ZA
apn: internet
username: mtn
password: mtn
server: *
mcc: 655
mnc: 10
apn type: default,supl
MMS
name: MTN ZA-MMS
apn: myMTN
username: mtnmms
password: mtnmms
mmsc: 196.11.240.241
mms port: 8080
mcc: 655
mnc: 10
apn type: mms
I think it does save APN settings, but for some odd reason you can't see them any more after saving.
Same thing happens to me, but both: 3G and MMS work.
Are you selecting menu - save, after entering details?

Any news on this?
I have an HTC Desire... Same problem... Any news?
same here, any fix?
any idea? bump.
same boat - there must be something going one.....anyone??
i have the same problem. whenever i try to add the mcc and mnc and save, nothing gets saved! i have a brand new desire and im very disappointed. if i cant browse the web then its pretty pointless..
i read somewhere it could be a permission problem with the sd card, so i formatted it, NO GO...
please help anyone!!
same thing's happening to me. any ideas?
also experiencing this issue.
Got it working!
I bypassed the market via the app "Market Access". It changed something to the sim value so the apn settings won't save.
Hope this helps!
i also had this problem, i just make a factory reset and every thing work fine ever since, and i have change the APNs several times after with out the issue
When this happened to me (blank APN settings screen - couldn't add / save) I did this:
Go to the APN settings page
Click MENU
Select "Reset to default"
Wait for confirmation of reset
Now click MENU
Touch "New APN"
Add your details per your carrier
Touch MENU
Touch "Save"
Worked for me roaming in the US with a UK Vodafone SIM dropped in an unlocked (not rooted) HTC Desire from UK T-Mobile.
They were saving but invisible
I had the same problem - they were saving but not being shown - when I changed to a SIM card from another provider they all showed upa nd I was able to select them. Not really a solution but if you have another sim card perhaps a workaround.

[Q] WAP configuration on Desire /w Vodafone?

I've received 2 MMS but I'm unable to download them properly. I've tried to search Vodafone web but they dont have the configuration for this device... ^^
Under Wireless & Networks > Mobile network > Access Point Names I have 3 entries:
- Vodafone
- Vodafone Internet
- Vodafone MMS
There are radio buttons for the first two and the second is enabled but there is no radio button for MMS option. I've search in other webs the MMS settings and they seem to be the same as the MMS settings I have.
Any clue why I cant select the MMS profile or why I cant download MMS correctly? I've tryed also searching the messages settings but I dont find anywhere to set a specific profile to use it to download. Since is wap, does it matter if the phone is actually using HSDPA connections? Should I lower them to use 2G?
Yep, you need to do the following
Go to Settings > Wireless and Networks
Click on the Mobile networks drop-down menu.
Click on the Access Point Names drop-down menu.
You'll see two APN's if you have an unbranded Desire - and only one APN if you have an official Vodafone Desire.
First, select the Vodafone MMS APN, press the Menu key, and choose "Delete APN". We don't need it, and the phone never uses it anyway.
Next select the Vodafone Post-pay ISP APN, and edit all of the settings so that they read as follows:
Name: Vodafone UK
APN: wap.vodafone.co.uk
Proxy: <not set>
Port: <not set>
Username: wap
Password: wap
Server: <not set>
MMSC: http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms
MMS Proxy: 212.183.137.12
MMS Port: 8799
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 234
MNC: 15
Authentication type: <not set>
APN Type: *
Press Menu > Save
All MMS and Internet functionality should now be working properly

[Q] MMS on o2 UK, on cyanogenmod or cymod-based roms

I have one annoying issue with using the stock android roms that are out for the desire - I can't send / receive MMS.
I am on o2 UK (prepay), and the odd thing is that on sense roms MMS works fine. I have tried the same APN settings in cyanogenmod/opendesire and no luck.
Other people on different networks seem to have no problem. Does anyone else have this issue or could tell me how to solve it?
I can't send mms either did you ever find a way to get this working?
Yeah MMS on AOSP based roms seems to be a bit of an issue, however, I did manage to solve the problem like this.

Here is the solution that worked for me. Hope this helps someone.
Attaching a picture to a SMS makes it a MMS and the transmission channel on the network is then different.
I also had a data block on my account on the at&t's end. That's what prevented any type of data to flow to/ from my phone.
Removing it allowed MMS to work even though I still data turned off on my phone in the settings.
I'm on a post paid plan but still use the Cingular APN. Here's my settings. The phone picked them up directly from the SIM and I didn't have to tweak anything. If you get funky results using the same settings it's probably due to the prepaid accounts being routed through seperate billing and administrative systems.
Thanks for posting. Same settings as mine.
