[Q] WAP configuration on Desire /w Vodafone? - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've received 2 MMS but I'm unable to download them properly. I've tried to search Vodafone web but they dont have the configuration for this device... ^^
Under Wireless & Networks > Mobile network > Access Point Names I have 3 entries:
- Vodafone
- Vodafone Internet
- Vodafone MMS
There are radio buttons for the first two and the second is enabled but there is no radio button for MMS option. I've search in other webs the MMS settings and they seem to be the same as the MMS settings I have.
Any clue why I cant select the MMS profile or why I cant download MMS correctly? I've tryed also searching the messages settings but I dont find anywhere to set a specific profile to use it to download. Since is wap, does it matter if the phone is actually using HSDPA connections? Should I lower them to use 2G?

Yep, you need to do the following
Go to Settings > Wireless and Networks
Click on the Mobile networks drop-down menu.
Click on the Access Point Names drop-down menu.
You'll see two APN's if you have an unbranded Desire - and only one APN if you have an official Vodafone Desire.
First, select the Vodafone MMS APN, press the Menu key, and choose "Delete APN". We don't need it, and the phone never uses it anyway.
Next select the Vodafone Post-pay ISP APN, and edit all of the settings so that they read as follows:
Name: Vodafone UK
APN: wap.vodafone.co.uk
Proxy: <not set>
Port: <not set>
Username: wap
Password: wap
Server: <not set>
MMSC: http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms
MMS Proxy: 212.183.137.12
MMS Port: 8799
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 234
MNC: 15
Authentication type: <not set>
APN Type: *
Press Menu > Save
All MMS and Internet functionality should now be working properly

MMS isn't working for me too. Same operator. In meteor 'My Meteor' I can't choose send settings to Desire, it isn't supported yet (most likely that's never gonna happen). Tried send SETTINGS to 50047, got reply 'Sorry your current phone does not support this service'.

You must manual setup APN's. Ask your mobile operator for settings for HTC Desire , HTC Legend, HTC Hero or some another Android phone...
Had the same problem when I first got my phone. Here is what I did with my phone:
Go to settings>wireless and networks>mobile networks>access point names once you are here, click on the menu button and reset to default. That should sort your problem.

Yes for me now work ok. Problem for me has been that outlook use from regional settings some data and if country have "area code" then change phone number from:
+38631123456
to
+386 31123456
So phone number have space. Calling and SMs work ok with this contact but MMS don't work(on WM on my old HTC TyTnII this same contact work ok).
When Im Im edit all contacts on phone and remove "space" from phone numbers MMS work normaly...
Im report this to HTC but they said that this is problem of outlook and I must disable this formating in outlook(Im check in settings but there is not avalible this option). Only way to disable this formating is change region to example "seychelles" which don't have any area codes...
Probably the same annoyance as the N1 has; the messaging app not resizing enough, try sending a sub 300kb picture and see if it works.
still no solution
still no working...operator meteor ireland

Finnaly I got my mms to work! How I did it? I don't have a idea.
Here are a steps what I did:
1. Deleted Username and password in Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Access point names > (MMS option)
2. Tried send a mms (no success)
3. Filled back username (my) and password (mms) in Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Access point names > (MMS option) >
4. Tried Retry send a mms (no success)
5. Turned off a Mobile network in Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Network (don't turn off with widget, I think that was my key to success)
6. Turned back a Mobile network (same place)
7. Tried Retry send a mms
8. Whola! My mms sended successfully!
I hope it will helps somebody.

MMS Settings for T-Mobile UK

For the benefit of people in the future who find the search button I thought I'd stick up the MMS settings for T-Mobile UK. My desire is an Orange one, but my sim is T-mob. Anyway I got these off my girlfriends G1.
Goto Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names
Press menu and 'New APN' and enter: (the stuff in brackets is a comment you don't input this)
Name: T-Mobile UK (dont think this matters but it might...)
APN: general.t-mobile.uk
Username: t-mobile
Password: .. (dot dot)
Server: * (star)
MMSC: http://mmsc.t-mobile.co.uk/8002/
MMS Proxy: 149.254.201.135
MMS Port: 8080
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
MMC: 234
MNC: 30
Everything else is blank.
Hope this helps someone
JAmes.
Can you tell me why I'd need this, what extra it offers please?
You don't if you've got your phone from T-mobile, but for those that didn't but are on T-mobile will need this to get MMS functionality.

GSM + 3G - 3G not working

Hi, I recently unlocked my Incredible 2 and I'm in India. It seems that the new SIM card allows me to make voice calls fine, but I can't seem to get 3G data even after signing up for the plan here etc. It shows Airtel (service provider) in the networks list and is active, but I still cannot get it to connect. Any ideas?
Have you confirmed your APN is entered correctly?

[Q] MMS problem with LeeDrOiD v2.5.0

Hey all, ever since installing this rom I have not been able to send mms messages, everything else seems to be working fine.. I have checked my apn settings and they are set to the default and look okay.. I am on orange and my monthly plan does include photo messages, while i was on stock rom photo messages worked fine, but now when I try to send one it tries to send multiple times before saying it failed multiple times due to "generic network error".. does anyone know a solution to this? If anyone thinks they could help i would happily provide you with my apn settings, software settings and whatever else you could possibly need.
Thanks very much,
-Dan
I don't know if this will help. But i had the same error "generic network failure" after only having my HTC desire for couple weeks. I am on o2 sim simplicity while purchasing the handset separately and unlocking it.
However, i resolved it by manually setting up the WEB & MMS. As it seems that service providers such as O2 message that can be sent out to handsets do not aid in setting up the MMS therefore after manually setting it...it worked for me and may work for you.

no luck, deleted my apn's and entered that one, still get a gprs connection but no luck with MMS's.. before when i had my original apn's on there if i attempted to send an mms, it would turn on my mobile data connection if it wasnt on before, but it didnt actually do anything except fail and retry until it says it failed after multiple attempts due to generic network failure. Now with the new settings, the gprs icon doesnt even show up if i try to send an mms, and i still get the same outcome.
Open your message app
Push the "menu" button
select "Settings"
scroll down to the MMS section
de-select the "Delivery reports" and "Read reports" options
Also try sending mms without wifi on
see if this helps

hi Niffer,
I have met same problem with Leedroid v2.5.0 but solved soon.
some apn configurations is incorrect with this release.
just change Apn Type value "default" with "default, supl" and then try again.
Hi Guys,
I'm having the exact same problem with Leedroid 3.0.8.2 on my Desire.
I had an app called 'Stop Data on 3' which substituted the data APN with a dummy one when Roaming off 3 in Australia due to extortionate data charges on the Roaming network (Telstra). This effectively stops your data when roaming. I suspected that this could have been causing the problem with the APNs, but I uninstalled it and still cannot receive or send MMS texts, even when not roaming and with full HSDPA signal.
Any help appreciated...

This didnt work for me. I cant get mms to work on any stock messenger. the weird thing is go sms will send mms perfectly, i just like aosp messenger better. Has anyone figured out how to get stock messengers to work with mms?
Make two different APNS. One for internet and one for mms. Works great for me. Follow these instructions;
Internet Configuration
On the device, tap Apps icon > Settings > (More... >) Mobile networks > Access Point Names.
Create a new Access point (tap Menu icon > New APN) and input the values listed below: -
Name : RP-inet
APN : att.mvno
Enter the user name and password listed below. If no value is listed, leave the field blank.
Username:
Password:
Set the APN type as default.
Save the APN and, if necessary, select Access Point Names and tap the radio button next to RP-inet to set the profile as default.
Return to the home screen.
The settings are saved and the service is ready for use.
MMS Configuration
On the device, tap Apps icon > Settings > (More... >) Mobile networks > Access Point Names.
Create a new Access point (tap Menu icon > New APN) and input the values listed below: -
Name : RP-MMS
APN : att.mvno
Enter the user name and password listed below. If no value is listed, leave the field blank.
Username:
Password:
Enter http://mmsc.cingular.com as the MMSC.
Enter the MMS proxy and port listed below: -
MMS proxy : 66.209.11.33
MMS port : 80
Set the APN type as mms
and save the APN.
Return to the home screen.
The settings are saved and the service is ready for use.
i keep entering in these apn settings and i get the capitol H by my signal bars but still have no data connection or mms. any ideas
Who do you have service with, make sure you have data left on your plan.
