First you need to identify (Manage applications) what is eating up your memory

I'm trying to install an app (around 5mb) but I get the 'out of space' error. However, the SD/Phone card storage says the my phone has 97mb free.
Has anyone else had this issue? Is there any way to fix this?
I tried installing a different app, same problem.
the SD/Phone Card storage is different to where apps are stored, which is on the internal memory. If your running Froyo or even better a custom rom with A2SD+ then you can move some of the apps to your SD card instead and free up some of that internal memory.
Yeah, I'm on a custom rom pinky
I know I could install to SD, but was just wondering why, with 90mb free, it wasn't letting me install to the phone.
thanks for the help
i have had the out of memory error, found that rebooting frees up some memory
i use a widget called mini info, atm i have 29MB free, reboot the phone and i now have 35MB free i have found that if i reboot after installing programs browsing web and market place i don't see the out of memory error.
Though it could be that you just have to many apps installed *
Hi,
I have Samsung galaxy note II (GT-N7100), android version 4.1.2 and ROM SCAMUS Note II V5 DMC1.
Off late i am getting this problem whenever i try to download any app or update any app from google play store....sometimes it is error 491 and sometimes it says insufficient storage space ( though i have 5 GB internal memory available and 29 GB in memory card).
Can anyone help in resolving this issue??

ok if you have more than 500 mb of free memory in internal storage, so may be you are using lucky patcher, if so open it and go to
menu->troubleshot->clear fixes (something like that) then reboot your phone, it will be ok
I suggest it may be that your /system partition is near full. I think each app you install adds a entry in /system. It only have 1.32gb and it is not part of you 5gb internal space.
Maybe you have too many, I think over 200?

hi all, I have a 3G model of our beloved S4 mini and have encountered something terrible. I tried to install 2 different applications, being a terraria trial and an xposed module called xdictionary. with both of these when I tried to install I got the insufficient storage error/warning.
Here are the things I can clarify, 1. I have plenty of space, the one app was 43mb and the other 10. I have over 3.5 gigs of space on my internal storage. 2. I installed clash of clans successfully, which is over 50mb.
Info: GT-9190 running snapshot CM11
if any more info is needed please ask. any help is appreciated
I have 1.3gb free in my internal memory yet when I try to install Link2sd it says I don't have free space. I can install other apps without any problem though. Tried every possible solution but nothing works. Please help.
Hi,
what I'm experiencing at the moment is kind of strange. I use a S-Offed M8 with the current Insertcoin Rom.
My internal SD Card is only used for Whatsapp and all installed Apps. With all the data there is about 1GB of free space.
Now the strange part - I always get the message from the phone telling me the internal sd is full. When I check the free space within the settings I see 16gb of 16gb used space. Then I delete some megabytes and i see the free space, but after minutes or even seconds the space is fully used again. I now deleted everything I could and found via es file explorer (root) but it's full again.
What can I do to determine the process, app or whatever causing this issue? It's really annoying as I can't use my phone correctly.
Thanks
Daniel

There is an app called Disk Usage and that can help to find where all your space is going?
Thanks, at the moment everything seems to work fine and the free space of 1 GB is usable. Next time it happens i will try DiskUsage.
It happened again! And the problem is the app called "Medienspeicher" (german). I don't know the english description, maybe "Media Storage"). DiskUsage shows me 1,1GB size of the media storage. After a couple of hours the space is free again - i did nothing. But oviously there's a problem with the media storage. Can it be resettet somehow?

Backup what personal data you want to keep (such as to your computer), and try formatting the memory in TWRP (in Wipe>Advanced options).
