crackling in earpiece - Desire General

I know a lot of people have had issues with the quality of the earpiece speaker, but I can't find anything that matches my experience.
A few data ago, during calls, the earpiece started to crackle really badly - especially at higher volumes. its almost as though the speaker has blown. I tried a trick that worked in my old Nokia n95 and blew and then sucked really hard over the earpiece and this actually fixed the problem for about 5 minutes. Has anyone else had this issue? I guess my phone will have to go back.

I take it its just me then...

I would send it back, I had mine for two days and the poor quality coming from the ear piece I sent it back. I am now looking at a different phone and there isn't much out there.

Got exact same problem on mine - dont know whether to send it back, cured it by turning the volume down. Its almost if the phone drives the speaker too loudly for what it can handle...

Have the same problem. I think it's the speaker cloth that is touching the speaker itself.
If the problem persists I will send it back.

No sound from speaker on O2 Orbit, hardware or software?

My daughter brought her Orbit to me yesterday saying the notification sounds had gotten softer and softer and now nothing at all. I've just this second switched it on after leaving it off all night and did get sound for about 30 seconds, but it seemed too loud and distorted and has now gone again.
You can make calls ok but get nothing from the speaker.
I had this a few months ago - annoying as no speakerphone either. Changing the rear speaker didn't help me but if the device has gotton wet at all a clean with an old toothbrush usually works wonders.

Call speaker issue

Hello,
I got a problem, it started few days again when I decided to use mobilevoip app on speaker, ever since I'm not able to hear the sound off a call out off the ear speaker.
I already tried flashing various roms as I wanted to rule out it was a bug off a rom, well so I flashed ARDHD rom because its pretty stable and I would not expect it with that, but issue still there and I only hear the sound when I put the speaker on.
Could it be ear speaker is broken? I have noticed whenever I call the DHD get's full off sweat, I think that won't matter, but I'm just abit scared when I turn it in for warranty they will say it has water damage even though it didn't get really wet once, just few water drops.
I'm sure now its broken.

Low speaker volume (front)

Hey guys, I just got my SGSIII and I am suffering from low speaker volume when making calls. The back speaker works fine but the front speaker is very low when I put it to my ear, even when I enable extra volume. I actually traded somebody for this phone, so I'm worried that they may have messed it up somehow and not told me. It doesn't sound like it's been blown or anything, the sound is clear and crisp however it's just extremely hard to hear the person on the other end.
Have any of you experienced similar issues and is there a potential fix? I just got the phone, so I haven't had a chance to root it and load a custom rom, but is there any chance that may fix the issue?

Earprice crackling sound?

I've seen this mentioned on a different site but wanted to get some feedback from XDA folks. Does anyone else have this issue? There's a weird crackling while on calls when the screen is either on or off (speakerphone is fine). I also noticed that when not on a call, if you put it up to your ear and turn on the screen, you can hear a similar sound that goes away when the screen is off. I saw that this problem was also happening with the Nexus 4 at one point but the thread didn't seem to go anywhere, and a similar thread for the G2. I went and exchanged my phone today and this one actually seems worse.
I'm pretty sure I'm not crazy. If it matters, it's a Verizon model.

I have International version and I have the same problem. I discovered something that wasn't mentioned before. When you'll take off the back cover the crackling is gone. Please try and give feedback if it is the same with your g3.

Crackling is definitely still there without the back cover. The US variant doesn't have wireless charging, so maybe that part is causing the crackling for you?
edit: I found a couple of threads

No solution other than to exchange. Let's see what happens when I go back. I will go through all of their phones if I have to.
edit2: Went back to the store after work and they flat out refused to replace it because we couldn't reproduce it in the store. I'm starting to think it only does it when not in a full signal area. Stores have repeaters in them.
I am noticing a slight pop, crackling noise from the phone ear piece as well. I rarely use a phones earpiece...almost always use my Bluetooth(Voyager Legend).
I don't hear any of this when using my bluetooth headset.
It is very minor...imo....though just now, I was talking with a friend via the phone headset....and he said there seemed to be some "white noise every-time I spoke.
Same problem - ear speaker buzz / crackle
LG G3 with AT&T - on any and every call, the ear speaker crackles and buzzes so loudly it is almost hard to understand what the person on the phone is saying. This is my 2nd LG G3 in a week. First one killed the battery in 4 hours with very light use. This one battery is great, but now can't talk on phone. Speakerphone is perfect, Bluetooth in car is perfect, but that ear speaker on the face of the phone at the top is causing a huge problem. Any ideas?
i heard a crackling noise too, during calls, in ear speaker..
i have att version d850
Same here
During phone calls it's almost like the buzz/rattle muffles the voices of the individuals in speaking with. I love the G3 but as a teacher and basketball coach talking on the phone is very important to me.

I've had this problem with the G2s but not with my G3. Have D851. Which model do you have?
Headphone cables with higher resistance will reduce the problems. This mostly happens when the volume of the phone is not at max. Try using a Fiio (20$) to connect to your phone, put the volume to max and enjoy clear (and even better quality through better amp) music/audio. The will be no more crackling whatsoever. If there should be, buy your Fiio at amazon.com or similar so that you can return it if it shouldn't work. I myself the the same issue and it got resolved by my Fiio. There's also other reports on a Fiio resolving this issue.

M8 top speaker not working

Just got my brand new m8 and after using it a bit I noticed the top boomsound speaker wasnt working. Tried some basic troubleshooting and using it in different apps in no avail. I can hear someone in a phone call no problem though, but if I use the speakerphone or use the phone to play music or something like that it doesn't seem to be working (or maybe be extremely quiet??).
I haven't tweaked the phone yet in any way, completely stock Android 6.0 that it shipped with.
Edit: The top speaker works but it is much, much more quiet than the bottom.
I'm really hoping this is a software issue, any way I can test that out?
Bump. Can someone running marshmallow please test this out real quick for me? Play this on max volume and see if left is considerably quieter than right - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTvJoYnpeRQ
Thanks guys! Gotta love that over a hundred people that saw this and couldn't take about 30 seconds out of their day to try this out for me
Anyways I'm probably sending the phone back. Gonna have to go back to struggling with my old HTC One S while I wait for a replacement.
Actually I'm having a very similar issue.
My phone had perfect speakers since I got it but recently it fell face down and the display went boom! No cracks anywhere though.
The service guys replaced the display but now the top speaker had a very loud crackling, at the max volume level only, when playing deep bass, still loud.
So I take it to service again and this time they made the top speaker very very quiet but the crackling was gone.
I asked them to fix it but they said it's always been like that.
After struggling for some 15 minutes they agreed to look into it. They tell me that they've replaced the top speaker module but the sound is still low.
I can even test the issue using the help app, hardware diagnostics.
Now I don't know how to get it fixed.
