have you tried arcsofts MMS fix?
i saw a few things about it...will it work and where can i get it...i currently have the mms composer version 5.2.6.45
my tp2 is gsm and i dont know if it matters which one i get
Yes it does matter, some are for GSM and some CDMA. I'm on CDMA so I'm not 100% sure how you're going to do it. Check the link below.
Here is some stuff I've found:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=562690
thank you for lookin...i found something like that before but i cant find out where HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\UI is located.....i went through the phone a few times but dont know where to find it.....thanx you burton for your response and help
You will need a registry editor to find it.
Try PHM Registry Editor.
so do i install that on my phone or how does that work?
If you've ever edited the registry on your windows machine it will be very similar to that. There are a number of free registry editors, in this link Total Commander and Mobile Registry Editor both can access those registry files:

hell yeah...just when all things feel like its not going to work....finally got it.....thanks a million burton....everything works awesome

Yes, I've finally gotten around to looking into this whole cab making malarkey and while this is an existing one customised to fit my needs, it's a good learning curve
It's the palm threaded SMS app and it just plain rocks - really
So anyway, I've tested this on WM6 (Black 4) and it really works. Everything is already set up in this for using with T-Mobile and MMS works too! It integrates nicely with the HTC homescreen and includes a custom alert tone (hope you like it! )
Just to make sure the install goes OK, please use the task manager to stop the messaging \ poutlook \ tmail processes before you run the cab as I believe this could cause problems.
You will lose your existing SMS and MMS messages in the standard messaging app so if you want to keep them, use PIMBackup first
It's a fantastic app and I recommend giving it ago and if you're on T-Mob, I've just made it a little easier for you
Cheers,
Smiffy.

If you ever vist bristol I may be tempted to reward you. thanks.. a handy cab.
Any screen shots of threaded SMS? Also if i uninstall your cab, does everything go back to normal?
Thanks

Good point! Nice work on the cab Lord but some reassurance would be fantastic
Service provider?
Have installed it and its quality. I can't send mms though. In the settings its set to cingular. I've got the tmob settings bar the centre number any ideas?
screen shot
http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2006/10/18/treo-750v-threaded-sms-mms-app-hacked-for-all/
looks like that
I'm looking at it now - I did test it on mine first but I think it probably kept the registry settings when I uninstalled it and re-installed it.
As for uninstalling...on my T-Mobile UK MDA Vario II, it uninstalled perfectly and everything reverted to the standard messaging app...BUT, as with anything like this, please don't just take the poster's word for it - use PIMBackup and and back it all up first!! It will most likely work OK, but...sh*t happens ;-)
Smiffy.
Thanks man. Your word is always good enough
OK, there were 2 places in the registry where the MMS settings were stored and I only changed 1 but it's sorted now (tested 3 times ;-)
And no, my word isn't good enough ;-) Back it up!! :-D
Cheers,
Smiffy.
Fixed and fantastic
Think this will quite possibly be the first cab i'll install after future flashes. Intelligent fuctionality.
Cheers Lordsmiff nice work
Forgot to say that when i uninstalled first version my old sms and mms were still there. When i reinstalled the new ones reappeared. Like lordsmiff says back up just in case but it didnt completely remove messages only temporarily when using the app.
You're right, it doesn't remove the old messages, it just uses a different message store but, at the risk of repeating myself ;-) back it up anyway
Which reminds me - if you want to reflash your device and then get all your threaded SMS messages back, you need to backup a file in the Windows folder called "PalmMsgV001" and also a folder in Windows called "MMS"
The file has all the text messages and stuff in and the folder has all the images etc from MMS messages in (I found that out the hard way )
Copy those two to your storage card and then back after a reflash to have everything back in threads
Cheers,
Smiffy.
Moved to rapidshare at mod's request
Anyone have any ideas where better to put it as I know some people (myself included) can't get them during working hours...damn those proxys
Cheers,
Smiffy.
Is it possible to install this threaded sms cab then alter the network settings by installing one of the available operator cabs or does the setting need to be entered manually?
Thanks.
i havent looked at lordsmiff's version... but if its anything like the ones i posted there is a possible issue of mms not working if you enter the settings manually... but his could be different...
There's not much chance of it being too different - it's based on your cab
If you want me to mod it for your provider, I can do that for you
Just PM me the connection details and I'll see what I can do
Cheers,
Smiffy.
i had another thought if you wanted to run with the idea.. i go back to work today so my time is going to be limited again.
The original version where based on the sprint connections, when i extracted all the files from the cingular treo rom and dumped the registry i compared them, i noticed all the reg settings were pretty much the same except for 2 lines and of course all the provider settings. But im thinking that if we left out the hard coded provider settings and allow the user to enter them manually that this may stop the "sometimes" apparent connection issues with MMS. So basically have a generic threaded cab with no provider settings hard coded at all... and if someone wanted to feel ambitious enough they could make cabs with just the hard coded reg settings for different providers (not the whole app)..
Hi!
Sounds great! Can it also be used for a other provider ? If yes; how do I know my settings ?
Does it show a alerts and integrates it good in the HTC Home Screen ?

I really love this app and would like to go back to it. MMS has always worked for me when using shogunmarks version but I think its limited to 300k.
Since your offering lord would you make one for AT&T?
I linked the settings I would have just posted them here but didn't want to miss something so I linked the main page for you.

One thing everyone should know when using this app is if you use any kind of app that closes programs like HTC Task Manager for example you need to add the Palm Threaded app to the exclusive list so it does NOT close when pressing x.
What happens a lot of times is most people write their txt msg and just click the x but with the threaded you have to wait until the msg is actually sent.
So the app should be running most of the time..
Hi,
What about the new sms notify; does it show an alerts and integrates it good in the HTC Home Screen ?

Anybody know if this works for Japanese carriers? If so, what is the gateway?
Interesting find! I don't text message myself but...
Here's a cab I put together for you kenlester.
Could be a handy tool to have, all I need to know is how do I get it to work on a Orange tytn
Just tried it...looks like it was working because i could now select e-mail addresses but after sending them it failed.
After a reboot I could no longer send them it was giving me the same error msg as before
anyone got any ideas why it doesn't....use to work with my previous att rom
This seems to work on some ROMs but not others. The WM 6.1 roms that were before the one that came out this month (19209) it worked on. Any ideas?
Works great for me thanks for the find..
i can't modify that keys in wm6.1 on htc touch diamond. The mobile registry let me do that modifies but after the reboot they are not saved.. what to do? thanks
You should post that in the diamond forum, not the hermes.
Looks like kewl trick. But excuse my question, why Dr. Puttingham wrap it on a cab with at&t label? I mean, is it operator-specific (at&t)? Or 8525 specific, not general hermes?

Thanks to all of you who work on these ROMS...I appreciate it so much!
Two problems are..
1. I am getting this error now with Kavana 080330 version of 6.1. I cannot sync with my corporate exchange server. I get the following error: ActiveSync encountered a problem on the server. Support code 0x86000108. I used another version of 6.1 and did not get this error.
2. Internet Explorer will just close on its own for no reason. This seems to happen when I am in another Internet app. Anyone else seen this behavior? I have tried two flavors of 6.1 and number 2 was exhibited in both of them.
Thanks for any responses in advance!
anyone?

Got past one of them..
I had to delete all of my tasks from my corporate outlook account, sync email, and then turn tasks back on. I think it has something to do with Sharepoint alerts.
Now to figure out this pesky IE problem where it is closing out. I wonder if I am hitting a hot key that I don't know about??
check your celetask hot keys.... i know double 0 was bootin me out til i changed it
KeyMapping Problem
i am not able to type the correct letters in the "numbers" section of my t-mobile dash and some other keys arent working correctly.
i had to download full et9 in beginning of his post and then edit the 409.text file
could you go step by step with the editing of the 409 file. btw did you have the same problem because im thinkings its because of me having a T-Mobile Dash

i have the t-mobile touch pro 2 and the images i send and receive are small is there a fix for this.?
i went in to the MMS options already to change the resolution size of pics i receive, and it didnt work so i set it back to original.
i am running build 21051.1.6.4
ROM 1.20.531.4
Radio 3.45.25.14
Here you go. This worked like a charm on my Touch Pro. I havn't tried it on my TP2 yet because I haven't received any mms messages yet. If you decide to give it a try, please let us know if it works or not.

no i installed and i couldnt receive any mms
Some operators require you to download the settings from the operator's site and installing them first. Sometimes this can be done via sending an sms, or it has to be done manually.
I think T-Mobile also requires you to have first sent an MMS before actually being able to receive them.
small mms
It s the same s...t like HD on mms
Small pics small videos....please tell us if .cab do it better!
I also receive small pictures on mms, but the only person who I have received an mms from is my partner. Here phone is an older nokia 6230i, and I'm guessing that the size of the picture I receive is the size of the picture her phone is sending me... Is that not the case? As I'd definately like to receive bigger pictures!
Tested this out by sending a picture to myself (yes, aren't I sad hehe). The picture I sent, I sent in high resolution (sxga). The picture I received back in my phone was a small size... So I'd say it's definately down to a setting on the phone somewhere. Unless it's network dependant, and the network make the picture smaller (I'm with O2 UK).
Would definately like to know an answer to this!
Cheers
Any body any further ideas on this. Looking back on my old n95, I received the pictures at a much higher pic rate. So definately the phone at fault...
I installed the cab and it worked for two mms pics, actual size and all. Then it wouldn't let me send any mms, but would let me receive them. But they came as smaller pics again. So I just deleted that cab off my phone until another solution comes along.
Sorry guys like I stated in the post where I posted the cab, it worked flawlessly on my Touch Pro, but on the Rhoduim its a different story. And these small mms pics isn't worth a crap.
Generally what happens with tmobile is that it defaults to small blurry pics when a MMS is sent to/from a phone that it doesn't support. You have to trick it into being a different phone so that the network knows how to handle the MMS. I have had to this to every iphone i setup on tmobile's network
OK, I managed to get this sorted for my phone (well, so far so good anyway).
Way I did it... Basically what jim_0068 said. I made it beleive it was a N95 phone. This is how I did it:
Edit the registry using your favourite editor (I used the Resco File Manager Registry Editor). Then, Navigate to:
HKLM - Software - Arcsoft MMS UA - Config - mm1 - WspHeader
Then, edit the key "User-Agent" to:
NokiaN95/11.0.026; Series60/3.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1
Now, edit the key "Profile" to:
http://nds1.nds.nokia.com/uaprof/NN95-1r100.xml
I did a soft reset, altho you should be able to get away without doing a soft reset apparantly. I then sent a picture to myself, and hey presto, it came through full size. I tried changing the details to a different phone model previously, but that still hadn't worked!
Hope this helps all others

if you are using a Tilt 2 on the AT&T network then your settings should work as they are. Is there some reason you are looking to change these settings?

yes all my MMS pics are like 35 by 35pix very small
Same problem here with my stock Tilt2. All pics from anyone except another AT&T come in around 4k, and are so small I have to get out my reading glasses!
Do these workarounds... work... for AT&T? Looks like the setting are all for T-Mo.
I've noticed that the ROM's with HTC Messenger are the ones that are not fully compatible with CAB's/registry mods. I can receive pix and they're of a good size but not full screen. Again, this issue seems to be with ROM's that include HTC Messaging.
If you are using any of the new ROMS (With sense 2.5) check these settings, mine come in fine, tested them by having my daughter send me pix.
Go to All msgs, then menu/settings/options scroll down and check to see if photo resolution is set to original. then hit menu again, go to MMS server. scroll down and check message size limit you should have multiple options (I chose 1024 even though ATT wont allow that), click done and done again, and re-test by sending yourself I full image.
Hi guys!
Can anyone help me out with my prob? I use the latest official DUTCH rom and can send mms just fine. But when i receive and download the file is only 1kb and plays as a slideshow for 5 secs.
I've been searching around for quite a while but can't seem to find a solution. I've tried the trick posted before but that didn't help me out ...
I'm having the same issue when someone who doesn't have ATT sends me a picture message.
