Anybody know if this works for Japanese carriers? If so, what is the gateway?
Interesting find! I don't text message myself but...
Here's a cab I put together for you kenlester.
Could be a handy tool to have, all I need to know is how do I get it to work on a Orange tytn
Just tried it...looks like it was working because i could now select e-mail addresses but after sending them it failed.
After a reboot I could no longer send them it was giving me the same error msg as before
anyone got any ideas why it doesn't....use to work with my previous att rom
This seems to work on some ROMs but not others. The WM 6.1 roms that were before the one that came out this month (19209) it worked on. Any ideas?
Works great for me thanks for the find..
i can't modify that keys in wm6.1 on htc touch diamond. The mobile registry let me do that modifies but after the reboot they are not saved.. what to do? thanks
You should post that in the diamond forum, not the hermes.
Looks like kewl trick. But excuse my question, why Dr. Puttingham wrap it on a cab with at&t label? I mean, is it operator-specific (at&t)? Or 8525 specific, not general hermes?

I suppose you're asking how to get it in a permanent way... elsewere it is simply to tick "options" in SMS edit window and tick the "Ask for confirmation" check-box....
For the permanent sending, I have no clue... maybe some registry juggling....
Hear you soon!
Marco
thanks...
any other answers to my question?
Does anyone know of an app that will check the confirmationbox automatically?
And if there isn't such an app, could anyone try making it? I'd be willing to pay for it...
solution!
I found a fix for this: install the cab, and confirmations is requested on every outgoing sms...
I hope I can attach a file from my PDA2K... if not here is a link:

(edited mmm I cant opload a file.... try the link...
If you'd like to do this manually (without the cab) and you know how to edit the registry, you just need to create a DWORD value called SMSDeliveryNotify in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings with the value 0x1

Nice, it worked was looking for this..Tks

Is there any possibility of doing this on the Qtek 8080 ??
Thanks
Duarte Teixeira
Duarte,
Unfortunately I don't know, the thread from which I got that nugget of knowledge is http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=15524 which states that WM2003 Second Edition is required so I guess if the 8080 doesn't run that you're out of luck!
MMS confirmation?
Is there a way to get the same results for mms?
works fine on hp hw6515
Yes, I've finally gotten around to looking into this whole cab making malarkey and while this is an existing one customised to fit my needs, it's a good learning curve
It's the palm threaded SMS app and it just plain rocks - really
So anyway, I've tested this on WM6 (Black 4) and it really works. Everything is already set up in this for using with T-Mobile and MMS works too! It integrates nicely with the HTC homescreen and includes a custom alert tone (hope you like it! )
Just to make sure the install goes OK, please use the task manager to stop the messaging \ poutlook \ tmail processes before you run the cab as I believe this could cause problems.
You will lose your existing SMS and MMS messages in the standard messaging app so if you want to keep them, use PIMBackup first
It's a fantastic app and I recommend giving it ago and if you're on T-Mob, I've just made it a little easier for you
Cheers,
Smiffy.

EDIT 1: Fixed MMS settings

If you ever vist bristol I may be tempted to reward you. thanks.. a handy cab.
Any screen shots of threaded SMS? Also if i uninstall your cab, does everything go back to normal?
Thanks

Good point! Nice work on the cab Lord but some reassurance would be fantastic
Service provider?
Have installed it and its quality. I can't send mms though. In the settings its set to cingular. I've got the tmob settings bar the centre number any ideas?
screen shot
http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2006/10/18/treo-750v-threaded-sms-mms-app-hacked-for-all/
looks like that
I'm looking at it now - I did test it on mine first but I think it probably kept the registry settings when I uninstalled it and re-installed it.
As for uninstalling...on my T-Mobile UK MDA Vario II, it uninstalled perfectly and everything reverted to the standard messaging app...BUT, as with anything like this, please don't just take the poster's word for it - use PIMBackup and and back it all up first!! It will most likely work OK, but...sh*t happens ;-)
Smiffy.
Thanks man. Your word is always good enough
OK, there were 2 places in the registry where the MMS settings were stored and I only changed 1 but it's sorted now (tested 3 times ;-)
And no, my word isn't good enough ;-) Back it up!! :-D
Cheers,
Smiffy.
Fixed and fantastic
Think this will quite possibly be the first cab i'll install after future flashes. Intelligent fuctionality.
Cheers Lordsmiff nice work
Forgot to say that when i uninstalled first version my old sms and mms were still there. When i reinstalled the new ones reappeared. Like lordsmiff says back up just in case but it didnt completely remove messages only temporarily when using the app.
You're right, it doesn't remove the old messages, it just uses a different message store but, at the risk of repeating myself ;-) back it up anyway
Which reminds me - if you want to reflash your device and then get all your threaded SMS messages back, you need to backup a file in the Windows folder called "PalmMsgV001" and also a folder in Windows called "MMS"
The file has all the text messages and stuff in and the folder has all the images etc from MMS messages in (I found that out the hard way )
Copy those two to your storage card and then back after a reflash to have everything back in threads
Cheers,
Smiffy.
Moved to rapidshare at mod's request
Anyone have any ideas where better to put it as I know some people (myself included) can't get them during working hours...damn those proxys
Cheers,
Smiffy.
Is it possible to install this threaded sms cab then alter the network settings by installing one of the available operator cabs or does the setting need to be entered manually?
Thanks.
i havent looked at lordsmiff's version... but if its anything like the ones i posted there is a possible issue of mms not working if you enter the settings manually... but his could be different...
There's not much chance of it being too different - it's based on your cab
If you want me to mod it for your provider, I can do that for you
Just PM me the connection details and I'll see what I can do
Cheers,
Smiffy.
i had another thought if you wanted to run with the idea.. i go back to work today so my time is going to be limited again.
The original version where based on the sprint connections, when i extracted all the files from the cingular treo rom and dumped the registry i compared them, i noticed all the reg settings were pretty much the same except for 2 lines and of course all the provider settings. But im thinking that if we left out the hard coded provider settings and allow the user to enter them manually that this may stop the "sometimes" apparent connection issues with MMS. So basically have a generic threaded cab with no provider settings hard coded at all... and if someone wanted to feel ambitious enough they could make cabs with just the hard coded reg settings for different providers (not the whole app)..
Hi!
Sounds great! Can it also be used for a other provider ? If yes; how do I know my settings ?
Does it show a alerts and integrates it good in the HTC Home Screen ?

I really love this app and would like to go back to it. MMS has always worked for me when using shogunmarks version but I think its limited to 300k.
Since your offering lord would you make one for AT&T?
I linked the settings I would have just posted them here but didn't want to miss something so I linked the main page for you.

One thing everyone should know when using this app is if you use any kind of app that closes programs like HTC Task Manager for example you need to add the Palm Threaded app to the exclusive list so it does NOT close when pressing x.
What happens a lot of times is most people write their txt msg and just click the x but with the threaded you have to wait until the msg is actually sent.
So the app should be running most of the time..
Hi,
What about the new sms notify; does it show an alerts and integrates it good in the HTC Home Screen ?

Huh? I spent a great deal of time trying to copy the SMS messages off my SIM, but I couldn't access them from the phone. How did you do it?

Em....i don't know why...after upgrade to wm6, it shows in inbox.
but i don't want to show it ...
Hi, is there a way to make the contact names appear as u you type?
For example, in the "TO:" part of the txt message, if I type, "St"
it will shows, Steve White, Steve Smith and Steve Lew, in a drop down menu.
I seen this feature on other roms, and I looked in the wiki and googled.
I don't know how to enable it.
thanks
Don't think possible as imagine will be due to build.
Shame to hear that
It would be a great thing to have
so it's based on build? not some registry edit? or app?
thanks
yeah, its based on settings in the core of the ROM. You could ask some chefs around who would know more on the topic than myself, but I think Ookba mentioned this once (as far as his 2.5 ROM Goes ...) I am not sure if he released a "fix" cab for it...

6.1 "Kavana/Ricky" does not, 6.1 Rose dose, 6.5 dose....
k..thanks..i have kavana 6.1
yea, im using the ricky, and it doesn't have it. but when i tired the NRG one, they had it, but NRG was too unstable for me.
u can enable it in 6.1/6.5 roms, its a reg edit. (if the writing system is et9 ime, if compime it is usually out of the box working).
Registry is in the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Inbox\RecipientAutocomplete
(note that it is Autocomplete but the board adds space sometimes)
value
MaxSuggestions it is a DWORD, either its 0 or not available, create it, and put how many suggestions u want, good or default one is 4.
also make sure that this subkey is there with the CLSIDs
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Inbox\RecipientAutocomplete\SuggestionGenerators

Dash with EVO, the ver before ookba released few days ago, was 0 make it 4 it works, also palm treo 500, running 6.1 rose, make it 4 and it works. SP3 with 6.1 also works, this one is one of the oldest 6.1s way before rose.
the 6.1s and EVO(6.5) have diffrent CLSIDs entries so not backwards compatible as theres contacts grouping. the generators point at msnewmnu.dll. (u need to make sure his dll is not from a very old build or from 6.0).
This doesnt work with 6.0, only 6.1/6.5.
I attached the reg from my palm, its the same entries as the 6.1 sp3.
Edit: I just Flashed Kavana 6.1(080408_WWE), and also it worked. This rom already had the key RecipientAutocomplete, but was missing MaxSuggestions, just create the dword value and it works. its the same CLSID as both 6.1 and rose.
it works!
Thank you all for your help!

have you tried arcsofts MMS fix?
i saw a few things about it...will it work and where can i get it...i currently have the mms composer version 5.2.6.45
my tp2 is gsm and i dont know if it matters which one i get
Yes it does matter, some are for GSM and some CDMA. I'm on CDMA so I'm not 100% sure how you're going to do it. Check the link below.
Here is some stuff I've found:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=562690
thank you for lookin...i found something like that before but i cant find out where HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\UI is located.....i went through the phone a few times but dont know where to find it.....thanx you burton for your response and help
You will need a registry editor to find it.
Try PHM Registry Editor.
so do i install that on my phone or how does that work?
If you've ever edited the registry on your windows machine it will be very similar to that. There are a number of free registry editors, in this link Total Commander and Mobile Registry Editor both can access those registry files:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4487813&postcount=3
hell yeah...just when all things feel like its not going to work....finally got it.....thanks a million burton....everything works awesome
