My on-screen keyboard is only displaying numbers, with no option to switch to qwerty. The only qwerty characters available are "p" and "w", which appear to the top right of the keyboard.
Does anyone have any idea how I can get the normal qwerty keyboard back??

Did you disable eT9 and to get Auto suggest and auto complete back? If so that is probably what did it.
I had the same problem when I hacked my Tilt 2 to get get auto suggest and auto complete back. Apparently when you do this it works fine until the fallowing happens:
A. You get to a field that triggers you keyboard to switch number entry mode (Nummber pad with P and W)
b. You get to a field that trigger the keyboard to internet entry mode (Keyboard with ".com" and "/" but no spacebar).
Once you enter either mode you can't key you regular keyboard back.
If that is what happened to you, your not the only one.

I haven;t found a way to make it work without breaking the keyboard. I had to do a clear storage and learn to use T9. It better than a broken keyboard.
Yes that's what I did. If I have auto-suggest but NOT auto-complete on do you know if this will avoid the problem??

I'm not really sure. I tried several ways and nothing worked, my guess is your are likely to still have an issue. BTW going back an changeing the registry edits back did not fix the issues for me. I had to clear storage and start from scratch each time.
For now I'm learning to live with XT9. I don't like it as much as the original, but it is usable. The alternative is using MS tiny little SW keyboard, and to me, that is even worse.
Now if someone could figure out how to keep the alternate keyboards from popping up, in theory, that should remedy the issue. Unfortunately, I have no such skill.

Try this to fix it: start Opera, tap the url field, which will bring up the "search the web" field. Then tap the "search the web" field. This should fix your keyboard (at least it works for me), at least until the next time something triggers the keyboard problem.

Thanks for the input, good to know.
That may be a work around for the Internet input issue (maybe), but we still have the issue with the numeric input Keyboard. Thus far the best option, at least for me, is to live with XT9 until a terminate fix is found.
On the bright side, over all I love my TP2/Tilt2!

Actually, this works for the numeric input keyboard issue as well - I have experienced this first hand. addmittedly, it is a bit of a pain to switch from whatever you happen to be doing, to opera, just to fix your keyboard.
I have read several threads regarding Touch Input in this forum but I still don't understand why I cannot change from Touch Input to any of the other 4 listed soft keyboard options. I can choose them in the pulldown and then select OK. But then if I go back into Input, Touch Input is back as the choice.
And if I cannot choose a different soft keyboard, is there at least a way to turn off the auto suggest for words? It is driving me crazy as it often changes my acronyms and other spelling to something I don't want. But I don't see any options to turn it off.
Just turn off XT9...
The toggle button is under the "a" and to the left of the "z". Just tap it to switch to ABC mode.
Then you can type "cant" and it won't autocorrect it to "can't".
Anyone have trouble with it? I can get it to install and then select it in Settings but never can make it appear.
just something to try... click on an old txt message and click "tap to compose" and then when the keyboard pops up hold down in the area where it says "tap to compose" once more and choose your input method.. see if that works
Big Thumbs Up....
THanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I haven't done any crazy stuff to my tilt2, no roms or anything I added a gps program that's about it. I dont recall this being an issue before but it may always have been like this and I just never noticed.
but anyway, when I go into "Phone" mode to make a call. if I use the physical keyboard and try to type a 1,2, or 3, it comes up as 6,7,8. looking further it appears the top row of letters has taken on the numbers "@" gives me "1", "_" is "2" and so on.
Did I do something somewhere or is there some setting I can change to get it back so the number keys are correct?
Anyone know why every time I enter Messaging, I see a keyboard icon in the top left and in it says "Choose input method" in the notification screen. I have Swype selected, and even if I select it again, it still remains until I exit Messaging.
