So I haven't done any crazy stuff to my tilt2, no roms or anything I added a gps program that's about it. I dont recall this being an issue before but it may always have been like this and I just never noticed.
but anyway, when I go into "Phone" mode to make a call. if I use the physical keyboard and try to type a 1,2, or 3, it comes up as 6,7,8. looking further it appears the top row of letters has taken on the numbers "@" gives me "1", "_" is "2" and so on.
Did I do something somewhere or is there some setting I can change to get it back so the number keys are correct?

This has been slowly annoying the hell outta me. I noticed theres no indicator showing that you are using caps, symbols, or shift. It messes up my typing alot. Is there anyway to get some soft of indicator that one of them is on?
does anyone know? Is there some sort of hack maybe?
I would love this as well!
do search a little guys
u can find most of the answer by searchin the forum
example: write "caps AND hack OR tweak" in search field
U can do it, I believe
I did exactly as you suggested and found this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=53784
In the middle of the post it shows a registry tweak for the Wizard for caps and shift indicator on the screen. However, it did not work for me. I still see no indicator. Maybe it doesnt work on Blue Angels? Can anyone verify?
I have searched and only found hacks for winmo 5 devices.
They don't work on PPC2003.

bumping this thread to see if I can get any answers...
Are you using PPC2003?
I just tried the tweak with WM5. Doesnt work...
This would require a hardware solution I believe (ie. one that interfaces with the HTC keyboard driver for the Blue Angel).
Consider the following tests:
1) Open a Word/Text editor
2) Using the standard soft keyboard (SIP), type a character in lowercase, eg. 'a' -> "a" appears
3) Press SHIFT on the SIP, then press 'a'. -> "A" appears
4) Press SHIFT on the SIP, then press 'a' on the Blue Angel Hardware keyboard (HWKbd) -> "A" appears
5) Press SHIFT on the HWKbd (SIP then dissapears - reactivate it), then press 'a' on the SIP -> "a" appears ---- note that the HWKbd's SHIFT didn't modify what occurred on the SIP
6) Now press 'a' on the HWKbd -> "A" appears. This indicates that the "SHIFT"/"CTRL" functionality is limited to the hardware keyboard itself.
The same applies to the CAPS Lock on the HWKbd. If you turn on CAPS, caps only works for keys input from the HWKbd, not from the SIP (try it: on the HWKbd, press 'Fn', then ''Shift/Cap". Keys input from HWKbd are UPPERCASE, and from the SIP lowercase.
Any solution to this will require development of some sort of driver/interface with the Blue Angel's hardware itself.
Any takers...?
I have the TP2 with stock Sprint ROM.
I have changed the KBD settings to use LogMeIn with this reg edit:
[HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e001 0409]
(MS IME mode)
Ime File = \windows\compime.dll
Layout Text = COMP IME
Not sure if this is causing my problem, however my touch screen input keyboard is only showing the default that Opera uses, with the ".com" button instead of spacebar. How can I get my spacebar back?
Sometimes it sticks on number input also after clicking on a number field like the time.
Anybody?
Found it.
Kept searching and found it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=566361&highlight=keyboard+fix
Changed HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9\Ime.change CurrentET9Style from 1 back to 0
This works temporarily, but when I click on the time in a calendar entry, it switches to numbers, and does not switch back unless I re edit the registry. Is there any way to keep the setting from changing at all? I want it to stay at CurrentET9Style = 0.
Anybody?
OK. Ignore this thread unless you have this problem!
Here is a fix I found at PPCGeeks:

Thanks to
CovKid66!!
Then you have to use KforTouchPro to enable the keyboard with LogMeIn. (And then the reverse to get back to properly working soft keyboard)

Hello everyone,
I just bought my ATT tilt 2 and I have a few issues that I would like to address. If you guys can help me address them it would be greatly appreciated.
(1) When I get a call and message at the same time, my phone doesn't stop vibrating even when I am in a call and the other end can hear a buzzing noise.
(2) In my message tab, I have a '1' icon showing that i have a new message but I have no new message. I even deleted all the messages and still it does not go away. Therefore TouchFLO is also showing me '1' new message all the time.
(3) In my previous phone (omnia), I could hit any of the front hardward key to light up the phone then I could unlock it. but that feature does not seem to work in this phone, I have to everytime hit the power key to go in and out, therefore I find no use for the lock feature. I changed the setting for it to never go on standby but then the screen always on (low visibility) and that would probably use up alot of battery.
Any fixes for these problem?
I do not mind changing ROMs but I have no idea which ones are stable and how to go about changing them. I can look up on how to change them but I need to know what people are happy with. I do not want to keep changing ROMs.
Thanks Alot for your help
Have to push power button to wake up device
I have a TILT2 and it sucks to have to push the power button to wake it up. Does anyone know how to modify this?
I would like to push one of the front buttons to wake it up as they are more accessible.
Thanks.
Number 1 is weird. Maybe try a hard reset.
Number 2: Go to Start>Settings>Today do to "Items" tab. Uncheck TouchFlo3D, and check Messaging. Hit OK, and go back to the Today screen. There should be some stupid welcome message from Microsoft in the text messages (for some reason doesn't show in TF3D). Delete it, and you can go back into the Settings and turn TF3D back on. The "1" message icon should be gone
I had the same problem, and this worked for me.
number three:
Try this link from XDA:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=578061&highlight=wake+device+button
If you want to wake up TP2 by any hardware keys, please try: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\OEM\KEYBD "KeyLock" = 0 (default is 1) then Reset..
Any one else have this issue and were they able to resolve it?
When ever I try to enter an appt into the calendar my touch input switches to a numeric pad with a P and a W. It is the same pad people have gotten with Opera 9. It does not switch back unless I go to Opera (it was never open) and touch on the address bar. At this point it will go back to the Qwerty touch input. This is a very clunky work around but it is the only one I am aware of.
It will do this even if I use the hardware keyboard to input data in the appt fields. Anyone know what causes this or how we can fix it?
Because you didn't mention witch rom you use I can only say try another rom. I never have had this problem. Or you can try a hard reset first.
I am using the stock ATT rom. I have hard reset it a few times for other reasons and it is still the same.
If you are entering text it stays as qwerty but as soon as you go to one of the drop down boxes for the time of the appt it switches to the number pad with the w and the p whichis fine as you are entering numbers. Unfortunately it does not change back to qwerty even if you try and add somting in the text boxes again.
If you open Opera and click first on the address bar, then on the Google search bar, the qwerty keyboard usually comes back.
Hello all. Is it possible to pair the Apple Wireless Keyboard with a rooted EVO? Of course, a ROM supporting HID would be necessary (CM6?). I would love to use my EVO to take notes in class. I know that there are keyboards such as the Freedom Pro, but I already own an Apple Wireless and would rather not buy another keyboard if at all possible.
Thanks!
I don't see why not. The Ctrl key won't work, and neither will the Apple-specific keys (Option/AppleKey/Whateveryouwanttocallit).
Great to hear. Every time I've attempted to root I've come across various annoying errors (mostly "Main Version Is Older") so I gave up for a while. Hearing that the Apple Keyboard works gives me the motivation to try rooting again.
Thanks
This is exactly what I am thinking of doing. Especially with the kickstand of evo and the larger screen I would be able to take notes in class with a portable keyboard instead of an iPad or a laptop. The quesiton is, does it truly work or will I have issues...
I do have CM6 and apparently HID is enabled so I am hoping nothing goes wrong. I will report back.
Holy ****, I am in love. Got my phone rooted (with CM6) and am currently typing this on my Apple Keyboard.
I am nerdgasming everywhere right now.
Please go in details on what works and what doesn't. Perhaps a video?
I haven't had the time to fully test it, but it works for the most part. You have to get used to the idea of the keys working as if it were a physical version of the on-screen keyboard (things such as pressing shift twice goes to caps lock). One annoying thing is that option-delete won't just backspace through the previous word, but instead will delete the entire row of text. Obviously, all mac-specific keys don't do anything.
Lastly, the arrow keys are mapped differently than you'd think. I think it's "up" to scroll backwards through text in one line (changing cursor character by character), "down" to scroll forward through text in a line, "left" to scroll to the next line of text, and "right" to scroll to the previous line. Bit confusing tbh.
Right now it's very usable, but it'd be really great if someone could find a way to change the keymappings for the little nuisances.

Does that change depending on what your screen orientation is?
Good call. You're right, the arrow keys work correctly when the orientation is in portrait mode. Unfortunately, the kickstand makes it so much more convenient to keep it in landscape.
Any devs think it could be possible to whip up an app to fix this?
Sent from my EVO, typed on my Apple Wireless Keyboard
My evo doesn't seem to pair with the keyboard. Any steps?
0000 as the password?
Type a passcode on your EVO, then type that (followed by Enter/Return) on your bluetooth keyboard. It took me a couple attempts, but I got it to work using either 1234 or 0000 (I forget which).
I took notes in my math class today, using VerbTeX (a LaTeX for Android application). It worked really, really well for the most part, except for an annoying bug I noticed: everything seemed to map correctly except for the less-than and greater-than signs (that is, SHIFT-, and SHIFT-.) The keyboard types ";" for shift-"," and ":" for shift-".". Frustrating...
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Anybody else having these issues? (incorrect mappings for the < and > keys, and the arrow keys in landscape mode)
For those unsure of how to connect mac bluetooth keyboard to EVO. Its similar to actual set on the mac. You have to key the passcode in on your EVO 0000 or 1234 then initiate the same sequence on the keyboard itself and press enter. It will then confirm you are connected to a HID device. I'm using CM7 wish I had a mouse pointer right now.

You wanted a video? Here you go. I'll be updating the vid here soon as I've been using my Evo in the "Desktop" config for a week now and have harld touched my regular PC.
