Is there any way I can get a iPhone-like task manager (their multitasking) for my Windows Mobile 6.5? And is it possible to open a program (in this case, task manager) by double clicking a button on my phone?
Anyone know if this is possible?

Up through WM5, I used xBar as a task-manager, great program:

It doesn't get along so well with WM6. Hasn't been an update for quite a while, the author doesn't respond to emails about whether an update is coming. He also hasn't posted a message in his own forums for ages.
Does anyone know of anything similar? If you're not familiar with xBar, it's a 'always there' task manager that lets you quickly see which programs are running, switch to them, or close them, just by pressing and holding the center navigation button.
Chaz, why not use the built-in HTC Task Manager? You can assign one of the Dash (the T-zones) key to it to have it launch instantly. It works great!
quick question
how did you remap the t-zones key to open the task manager ?

Check the stuff under the 'Recommended Remaps' heading.
I use celetask, it seems to work well under WM6.

Im looking for a program like x-button for my dash, I had this program on my mda before and worked great, or is there a registry tweak, when i close an app it really closes instead of running in the background.
xbar is a great app for smartphone. It allows you to quickly switch between apps and by holding the center button you can close/kill apps.
The Dash has a built in Task manager too. I just mapped it to teh tzones key. You can quickly close or switch apps there.
Does anyone here know how to hide a program from the HTC task manager. For example i have a program like right menu running i cant close it from the HTC manager i used celetask to close it i want to hide another program the same way.
Sorry, no can do (unless you contact the developer and have them add the option)
I don't like the applications running background and close them all using taskmanager is a burden for me, is there a way to close the current application completely using an End button?
also would it be possible to start the wifi automatically without going thru the commmanager to turn the wifi on everytime I restart the phone?
thx in advance.

You can use the <-- (back button underneath the right soft key) to close most of the apps.. as you press the button it will cycle through the open apps and close them. But a Task manager is the only real way of terminating applications with no exit menu option. I use celetask, a much better program then the built in task man.
Another option you have is getting CHome configurator if you have WM 6.1 - and create a standalone slide menu that only has the task manager. If anything - it just makes it easier to get into the task manager faster.
BTW: Windows Mobile is notorious for this problem and memory leaks. Another option is to go with a Blackberry ;-)

lol Crackberries have their fair share of issues... dont get me started on the pros and cons of Wm vs Crackbery trust me you will lose the debate lol
I'm running Valyries Xperio 4.7 rom on my Xperia X1.
That uses the HTC task manager, and i want to be able to open it relatively easy in my home screen or with a softkey.
I set up the softkey, but that doesn't work since it returns an error, probably because it tries to open the standard task manager or something like that, and i'm not able to select the HTC task manager since its in the windows folder named TaskManagerApp.exe.
So i thought, lets make a panel in the home screen for the task manager with the CHome editor that was included in the rom.
I tried some things, but i'm not to good at that, can anyone tell me how to do it, or point me in the right direction?
I searched around, but i couldn't find out if someone had made anything similar before.
cheers!
