Hello people
My Desire was connecting fine to my PC yesterday and I could access the SD card but now when I try it says device not recognized. I tried reinstallin HTC sync and driver but same problem and have also restarted PC and phone. Im on Windows 7 64bit.
anyone??
this is driving me crazy
But once you connect your phone via USB to PC, on phone screen it will show 4 items of connections, did you choose the one of storage card??
I'm also having issues with HTC Sync.
It normally connects fine and syncs with Outlook OK. Every now and again (about twice a day) it will show the "charging" icon when plugged into the USB port (on any computer) but not recognise the fact that it's connected via USB. The "connection options" dialog isn't even accessible.
If I reboot the phone it immediately connects and starts working, so I know it's not a PC issue. It's like the phone thinks it's connected via a charging cable and not a full USB data cable even though it's the cable that came with the phone.

I'm having this exact same problem, would rather not have to reboot the phone every time I want to access the SD card via the PC as I do it quite a lot!
Anyone know of a fix? Or is there a way of bringing up the 'Connection Options' dialog as I can't seem to find it anywhere on the phone, only the Connect to PC options which lets you set the default mode it's supposed to go into when connecting via USB
to mark on HTC (setting/connect to pc/ask me), install HTCSync.exe on PC, disconnect all usb cables(including HTC ), to connect only HTC device to PC .... it helps me
if u dont want to have to reboot every time u want usb use USBSwitcher its free app hat mounts the sd on ur pc

Is not this.
Checked or not, when connecting the usb cable, it should show something like "charging only" or "htc sync", but only shows "USB debugging connected".
Just trying to establish some relation between our devices, do you guys have "extended controls" installed?

Has anyone already seen this or knows how to solve this problem?
My friend has a HTC TYTN2 and after connecting via usb in the pc, the tray icon displays connected, but you cannot sync, cannot do anything. The activesync main windows says it's disconnected. You cannot browse the files from "My Computer" too. So only the tray icon says it's connected (connection established as saw in network connections), but all other windows says that is disconnected. I've tried my Hermes in his computer with the same result. I've already tried an old activesync, the dhcp service is running and firewall is off.
Thanks.
Sorry, I made a really rude comment without reading carefully. My bad.
First, uncheck "Enable advanced network" in Settings>Connections>USB to PC, then reinsert the PPC.
If that doesn't work, with the Pocket PC cradled, check your device manager under network adapters to see if your pocket pc is there. If it is, delete the entry in the device manager. After a short while, the computer should automatically find the ppc and install the right drivers.
Ok. So I went through the user manual. I installed Microsoft Activesync 4.5 on my HP Netbook and connected my phone via usb. From here i am lost. According to the manual it says that my phone is supposed to say connect to pc with a "internet sharing"option. that option is not there. The only options available are connect via active sync with outlook or disk drive. Am I missing something? I combed through the manual and searched the web and still could not find the solution. Any help will be appreciated and I'm sorry if this has been posted before but i could not find anything on this.
i just did this for my self last week..
the help section ON your phone is where i got this info...
first, disconect your phone from your computer..
then open active sinc on your computer...
click "file" then click "connection settings"
a new window will open.
UNCHECK "allow usb connections.
close active sinc.
plug your phone in.
on your phone tap to connect via "active sync"
now, on your phone go to "programs"
then "internet sharing"
it should now show on your phone,
status
pc connection
make it USB
network connection
should say tmobiel data.
at botom of screen, hit the "connect" tab, if it didnt auto connect..
if done properly status will show it connecting then finaly connect.
your computer will then automatically get an ip adress from tmobile... and then in a few moments you should be able to use computer internet normally...
i notice that it likes to drop connections periodically... all you need to do is go back into the internet sharing on yoru phone and just tap "connect" again and it reconects.
You can leave all the active sync settings at stock.
Plug in the phone and it will make the activesync connection, go to the program menu on the phone and click internet Sharing. Under PC connection it will say USB, Network is Tmobile.
Click connect and it will automatically shut down activesync and start the connection sharing...
In short...
Connect to computer. Activesync should start automatically.
Start Internest Sharing on the phone.
Click Connect
Done....
ok i have several instant messengers and programs ive been trying out and they all work fine as long as im not connected to the pc. once im connected to the pc using active sync or not, all IM programs stop working, cannot run resco file explorer to browse files and cannot recieve picture messages.
Is there a way around this?
Does your Micro SD Card appairs while connected to your computer ?
In ActiveSync there is a setting that says something like "Allow data connections while connected to pc." I'm guessing that the messengers probably use your data connection, so possibly try checking that off?

I'll give that a try at home but i seem to be having the same issue with my work computer and it doesnt have active-sync installed. I'm just trying to use the usb connection to charge the phone, which it is, but I still cant use messenger programs or file explorers until i unplug it.
Any other options i can look into?
and yes, my micro sd card is fully accessible from the computer when it is connected with or without active sync.
This is on an HTC Tilt 2, running Energy rom, Cookie, with sense 2.5. So I can use the 3g connection in opera or IE when plugged into the pc, but I my email fails saying connection error or error synchronizing whenever I am plugged into the computer via usb. So my work email (IMAP) won't sync. As soon as I unplug it, it switches to 3g and syncs up.
Specifically, there is a 3g icon (in the stock ROM, an "H" icon in Energy rom) and as soon as I plug in via usb, this switches to the usb connection icon, and I lose email connectivity. . ..
Is there a way to fix or modify some settings so that it will work when it is plugged in via USB?
when you connect your phone to your computer via active sync open your active sync program and look for "mobile device settings" in there you'll see an option to allow data connections on device when connected to PC.
That should fix your issue.
Thank you for that tip! I was puzzled by the same issue.
I wonder why it's apparently disabled by default.

Mine is enabled.. . . . still no dice. Any other settings or ideas?
I just tried again, and now it actually connects to my imap account, but when I am plugged in via USB it says my username is wrong check my credentials, but when I unplug, it works fine. . . . Maybe I just need to somehow set it to run from wifi when I am plugged in and then automatically switch when I am not. Not sure how I would even begin to do that. I'd prefer to get the real problem solved.
the problem can be the password was changed recently and that why it may not connect? not sure about this tho
Yeah, checked that. Not the problem. And it works as soon as I unplug it so the login credentials are obviously right, unless there are some other login credentials. It doesn't need the username and pass to my windows account on the desktop, I wouldn't think. . . .l Any other ideas?
Just tried this on another computer and it worked. Still doesn't work on my work laptop. . . Weird. A firewall thing maybe, I don't know.
I've had the LG G3 from T-mobile for more than a month now. It worked fine all along, until today I just noticed that when I connect the phone to my laptop via a USB cable it starts charging right away. There's no option that would allow me to view the internal storage as a drive in My Computer or connect it in MTP mode or something. Previously, it used to do this automatically, I mean the drive would appear automatically.
When I try to tether my phone's 4g connection to my laptop through the USB cable, it works. So, I'm guessing nothing's wrong with my USB port or cable. Please help me!
