EnergyROM and Zenonia - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

I'm running 21899 of EnergyROM (and loving it), however one app is no longer working. Zenonia (installed through the Marketplace).
After launching it, I see the "Loading" screen for about a second and then it crashes back to the OS. I was playing on the stock ROM with no problem.
Any ideas on what could cause the game to crash on startup?
many thanks!

Really would like to know the same... all new roms fail with zenonia somehow. However, if I install the Leo 2G dialer on a new ROM, it seems to work for the first couple of times, this is after a softreset though. Then the bug re-appears, till you SR again. Now its so fooked up, it wont even load after a SR, has anyone a idea where this comes from? I do know it used to work with valkyrie ROM 5.7, which had a the Qilin Dialer, and sense 2011. Is there any ROM out there which has that dialer and sense 2012? Can't seem to find one to test it.
Any tips on this are very welcome... searched the whole internet for a fix, but everywhere I look its a death end. Tried many ROMS, each suggestion, other taskmanager, taskbar with cookie or without. Always ends the same that it loads and closes right after

manilla2d vs HTC Home in memory terms

Hello, I was usgin joshoss V8B2 manilla2d and with some apps installed (via device update) I was left with like 10 megs free, so I tried the PDACornerPro.V27 - Build 20759 NonRBSN Josh-Abs (both greeeeeeeeat ROMS!!!!) and installed basically the same apps with the addition of HTC Home to have a nice look and feel (closer to manilla)... and ended up with around 12 megs free.... so I'm not sure which one is eating more resources.... any idea? manilla is still more unstable, right?
diego
Personally I do not feel that manila is for the hermes, until I get my touch3g I am going to run HTC home and spb mobile shell.
I am also quite interested in the study...
Currently using HTC HOme and happy with it, but if Manilla doesn't consume much more resources (In terms of RAM: for the storage we can all use a Micro SD anyway...), I would immediately switch !!!
Anybody can comment more?
I played around with the earlier versions of M2D but found it very unstable. I have yet to try the new roms with it cooked in but am going to soon.
I find HTC home a little bare for my needs with M2D doing what I want and not such a bare screen. I like the fullscreen use and nicer look. I believe it does use more Ram but not a major amount. My issue was always the stability. Hopefully the newer versions prove to be somewhat more stable then their earlier incarnations...
Cheers...
I am a streamline fanatic and like to keep my resources in check. Personally, on the Hermes I think Manila eats up to many resources.
Maybe in the earlier versions there might have been some memory leaks, but I noticed that in the end, I would end up with under 20megs of ram. And if you play with Manila that would go down. HTC Home uses about 4 megs.
Also when I had Manila on, I found that Opera would crash more often, mostly due to running out of memory while it would never do such thing while running HTC Home.
Also I noticed some sluggishness on the Hermes while using Manila, which also sometimes took a little longer --5-10 seconds-- to load, depending on the ROM.
So all in all, once HTC Home is loaded, it is always almost instantaneous, while Manila would again slowdown the phone in mid-operation. And by that I mean switching from the Today Screen to let's say settings or programs.

I believe Josh's version is stable (from what I read)
Hi guys,
I tried like 4-5 Manilla 2D builds. They all had some bugs which weren't such a pain in the ass, but they were annoying. I was using PDA Corner V25 - great rom. Several days ago I installed PDAViet's Manilla2D v20 ROM and I must admit it is great. I didn't have any problems with manilla in terms of performance. The RAM left is 21MB on boot. The overall performance of the ROM is great. All apps work as fast as on the abusalza's rom. However I haven't tested the YouTube app, since I don't use it. The only problem is the lower in call volume compared to abusalza's rom. And if you use video call, I'm not sure if it's included.
I used multiple ROMs with Manilla 2D .. im now flashing backa again to a ROM without Manilla because i had too many problems with it.. i'm used to listen a lot of music... but with manilla on my Hermie the battery is empty so fast that sometimes i don't even have the chance to lsiten to the music ( i recharge it every night.. and i usually listen to music at about 15:00 pm.. by then it's already on low battery =s
on the other hand there are some stupid buggs in it.. like youtube doesnt work... sometimes the usb-connection doesnt work.. or what also bothers me is the volume control that is removed from audiomanager... there are also some other small problems which bother me but i'm not going to spend any more time on it right now
sorry for my bad english =)
ps. if somebody finds a tool for me to change the music player in manilla ( like from audiomanager to windows mediaplayer) pm me pls..
yes, in my case, I was using Josh's version and it was very stable and had I think all functionality working...the problem was after installing some apps, and after runining for a while opening and closing things I get an error of out of memory...
is there a way to make all "Device Update" to install on storage card?
will some more space on main memory help the RAM issue?
I've tried it out a bit. I'm using update 19 from here, and the Manilla 2D Customiser. On CRC's 13.0 naked non-big storage rom, I used UC to put on all the cab files in the right order, except for the Opera and Youtube apps. Using the customiser, I have removed the internet, mapping and settings tabs, and it runs pretty smoothly. Usually between 18-20MB RAM free. This does tend to go down a bit with usage, but I tend to soft-reset daily, and its not really a problem.
been using pdaviet's V20 and it is really stable and fast. youtube does work and the few times i used it, manilla2d kept running in the background without affecting overall performance which doesn't happen when i run opera and big boss dumps manilla2d to get more ram. it's still one of the best roms i've come across so far and hoping to stick to it - even having to put up with an annoying bug on calendar app.
i might be wrong about this but i found the whole thing a lot faster when i decided to be honest with myself and disable some tabs from manilla2d, tabs that would make it look good and get friends wowing but not really worth keeping just for the sake of showing off. i've disabled weather, music and pictures. pictures cause if anyone starts fiddling with my phone and see my pics THAT would be something to be embarrassed about, for music i have my zune and for the weather, i can just look outside the window.

I had the exact same deal running when I used M2D lol. But I've since ditched the whole 2D thing. I'm running PDACorner V27 and man it is faaast AND stable. M2D would crash way too often for my taste. In reality it was designed for the Kaiser/Tilt. Which is why not too many people on those forums have as many issues with it as we do. I remember I had the full 2D setup and I was running Opera and my Program mem usage was on 98% (about 2-3 MBs free). That's why I've decided to wait for the Fuze if I really want Manila.
When I try to update library from storage card it will start to adding files then stop. Any suggestions. It worked fine with another rom I was using.

htc hermes lag???

the problem I have is anytime I open anything theres a lag of 1 to 3 seconds at times. when I type it takes 1-2 seconds for it to catch up with what I had typed. its getting real annoying and don't have much programs open, is there some kind of tweak that can fix this. it would really turn my productivity up ten folds... thanks

when you open file explorer and browse into windows directory. how long does it take to load?
CRC is usually fully loaded, hence it will be slow. Try a lite ROM and see if you have any performance difference.

this could thoretically happen on a light rom also, if he were to install allot of apps that are heavy on installing to the windows directory.

Agreed, performance goes down once you start installing many applications or quit flashing for a few days
Wasn't it with CRC's roms that Odd numbered roms were the stable roms and even numbered roms were in developement?
Could be using a developement rom that has a few bugs to be worked out....
Cheers...

Just use CRC r13, its stable and more performance than r14.1

im currently running now 13.0 stable but still the same, is there something within the registry i can do or something or could it be the auto word completion thing?
i do have quite some software on my phone but majority of them are utility programs that help me clean and or tweak my settings.
i dont wanna crank up my core speed as that will already kill the juice of my battery of what little i do get out of the day,
Use advanced config to make sure you are running with .net framework 3.5... I found a few of the newer roms have it listed as "disabled"...
I can confirm this slowdown. I tried different roms with and w/o manilla 2d interface. Recently, there has been a weird change in the codebase that causes an extreme slowdown in some applications. For example, I am a regular POWDER player, which is an awesome roguelike game. a month or two ago, I had no problems playing POWDER. But the last few roms gave me great trouble. Now the game freezes every 5-10 seconds for a few seconds. I know there is something wrong with the roms because the game is the same game I played 2 months ago. And I don't install many applications to use /windows directory. actually, I install almost nothing and this slow down hits even without installing any applications.
I always use naked roms, but recently there has been a serious lack of them. The reason "may" be the sort of bloated roms. I just hope that somebody comes with a truly naked (.net only) rom so that we can test this hypothesis.
I guess I found the source of the problem. fonts. extra fonts.
One of the programs I install by default after every flash puts three different fonts into the \windows folder. I renamed these fonts and restarted the pda. The annoying slowdown when playing POWDER is now almost gone. Once in a while it still gives me a short freeze, but these freezes are not as frequent as before. The game is much more playable now.
by the way, when I was wandering through my windows folder, I realized that there are an enourmous number of youtube files in it. How unfortunate, because I never use the youtube application. Appearantly, too much storage space is wasted for a program that I never use. I will definitely consider a non-youtube non-manilla non-htchome ROM for the next flash.

ok, couldn't wait till morning. I have been testing the rom for last hour and oh God!... this is the best, fastest, most stable ROM I have flashed in a while. I installed my regular set of software and it is still lightning fast. the windows directory loads in under a second. Probably something like 0.3 seconds!!! All applications are so responsive and everything works so fast, I am finding it difficult to not to cry. Let's see what will happen after a couple of days. But seriously, my hermes hasn't been this awesome for the last two months.
the links not working
Look around, there are a heap of Lite roms available at the moment... Try Darkvision or Tai_SW's rom... Just to name a couple...
I'm following... so heres my idea. I'm not gonna flash my phone just yet (I got a good rom working on it), but...
Can someone either point me to an ultra light rom that has titanium home, or possibly explain how to get titanium onto a non-titanium rom? I know thats like asking "how do you build an engine" or something, but is there a good starting point?
All I want is a rom thats fast, has titanium home, and has the Touchflo 2d phone skin (for big fingers).
P.S>. Why do roms slow down over time for no reason? I've noticed the latest crop of 6.5 roms run good for a day or two, then start going REALLY slow. I can't nail it down.. I try Oxios but it doesn't help. I'm not installing anything either. The honeycomb gets jerky, the "red end button" starts getting a lag / not working at all, etc.
Thanks.

HTC Touch pro 2 Rom help

wasup guys i recently hard spl'd my phone and used mutiple wingster roms both win 6.1 and 6.5. I also installed other types of roms as well and honestly i cant find one that will get my phone to be fast and normal. Why? Most of them freeze, lag , screen errors where it shows the screen werid. Some apps give me errors and also when i recieve texts and send the time is always shown couple minutes ahead of the actual time.
So i flashed back to tmobile stock 6.1 but it isnt much ;( . are there a stock tmobile 6.5 or any well known roms that work just as good or better than stock? Thanks alot guys
Try EnergyROM by NRGZ28. It's very good and fast ROM.
I haven't used but heard also Valkyrie_v4.9 FireStorm by agent_47 is stable and fast.
hm ive tried energyrom but still gives me so lags and black screen when i flip open
So try another ones and choose your best

Looking for a ROM

Ok, I don't want to start a flame war or anything, but all I simply need is a ROM that does a few things for me (mind you, I'm not newb or noob to XDA, I've been here since around the release of the Tilt for AT&T, had a Tilt, and used Shifu's ROM, which was by far one of the smoothest, simplest ROMS, leading me to what I want):
*To run smooth and fast on a Tilt 2
*To use the Google Tracker thing, thereby keeping my weather and clock up to date
*To have Opera 10 (I really enjoy the start screen and speed)
*To have a version of Office that won't disappear after the beta goes away
*To have CleanRAM
*And Finally, to be simple and pretty bug-free (because with EVERY single other ROM I've tried, they've had bugs, or annoying context menus so I wind up saving loads of texts to my d*** SIM card; it'd be nice if there was a ROM that was the newest version of WinMo and Manila 2.5, without all the extra crap, like a skinned AT&T, gutted of all the bloatware, add Opera 10).
Is there anything like this? Please hook a brotha up, because if not, I might as well learn to cook and make my own ROM. I just need a simple ROM. That's it.
Oh, and inb4 someone says "look around, try different ROMs," I have. Athine, Energy, Valkyrie, and a bunch of the other "good" ROMs. Each have their strong point, but they all fail me in some place. Either too complex or too buggy. Like Energy right now has been the best, but it's extremely buggy on my Tilt 2. Google Locator isn't picking me up, phone calls get muted when I get a second call, etc...
Look around, try different ROMs!
Haha, seriously though, the perfect ROM for one may not be the perfect one for all.
Smooth and fast; Simple and bugfree - Of course, I've yet to see someone requesting for a ROM that's slow, laggy, complex, and buggy
Google Tracker thing - What's this? Is this just the location services thing? I thought this was available on all ROMs?
Opera Mobile 10 and CleanRAM can be installed independent of the ROM.
So, basically, you want WinMo 6.5.x with Sense 2.5 with non-beta version of Office Mobile.
You should know that I've not yet found a Sense 2.5 ROM that's fast enough for daily use. But I am a demanding person...
May I suggest you try Cell Pro ROM? Link in my signature. Also, give the stock UK WinMo 6.1 ROM a try.

Suggestions for a ROM for me. Please! Anything is appreciated!

Hey guys, school just finished so I have finally had time to play with my phone and mess with apps/ROMs. I used to run the Energy ROM, i flashed up to the new energy ROM but there wasn't anything i liked about it. Except I loved the Start button in the bottom row along with the soft keys. I have also tried the Valkyrie ROM (didn't like it at all) and the Leo Evo ROM, which was pretty nice except it runs slow and it seems kind of glitchy. In about 30 of straight use, I had to run a couple of soft restarts. Other than that I wouldn't mind the LEO Evo ROM.
I liked the older Energy ROM i was on, however I really want the Start button in the bottom left hand corner. I was trying to look for a cab for this, but was unsuccessful.
I wouldn't be opposed to trying a different ROM Im open to anything. I typically like to run the Windows Titanium screen because it runs faster than Sense for me, im a big texter, and I don't have data plan, so I need easy WiFi setup and workability (although this is no problem with the Keyboard Controller, I have it set to the back mute key, finally found a use for it, eh? haha). So lets hear what you guys got for me!
EDIT: Also, Is there a way to access the task manager with the Start button in the bottom left corner, besides going to start, then tools then task manger or whatever
I was also looking into the Titanizer, anyone know anything about how well it works? Thanks
I went through a few roms before installing Leo Cell Evo 9.1 (23XXX Build). While I was happy with roms I went through first, I was impressed with the Leo Cell Evo rom. There are so many things that you can customize to make it truly yours. You can also stick with how it installs and be more than satisfied with it. In the rom, the "Tweak Tools" are available under the programs tab and all the options are there. 3 thumbs up from me.
I have had good luck with the Energy roms with Titanium only. In order to get the start menu button in the bottom curtain you just need to flash a rom with a build in the 23xxx series. The 21xxx series roms are with the start menu on the top curtain. I find the 21xxx roms to be more stable and I like having the task manager at my disposal and to be able to take a quick glance at my memory usage as well with the 21xxx rom.

Wow, I like almost everything about the NRG ROMs. I would suggest that you pick your ROM and then stay with it for a week or so to get to know how it works. NRG ROMS in particular need to be tuned to make battery life longer, and the battery gauge is not so accurate for the first few days. I like the tools that he cooks into the ROM.
Yeah well with the 23xxx series, I was really satisfied withe the NRG with the bottom start menu but there were a lot of things that glitched here and there. Like for some reason, it took me forever to try to get rid of the keyboard once it came up in total commander or something like that.
This is what I have stuck to the longest so far. I have little things that bother me a lot, thats why I have been flashing a lot. Along with using the Titanium theme I use an app from the Marketplace called "Home Screen Customizer" which lets you remove and reorganize your ascreen and add an "Apps" page. I also threw in a Facebook and MS Office tab from the second link. But I think my final decision is cooking this ROM in the link with some apps and games from other ROMs. I'm not looking forward to all the work though. haha.

If you want the start menu in the left corner (windows 6.5.3 or 6.5.5) And the taskmanager linked with the start button, you should really check out the valkyre roms again.
Espescially this version valkyrie.ftp v6.5.23115tr2.5 25th april wm6.5.5 without extra tabbs. This is one of the fastest and most stable roms you are going to find here for the rhodium.
You said you didn't like that rom, what didn't you like about it? If don't like the layout, you always change it yourself. But if you want a really stable and fast rom, you should check it out again.
Ark's Rhodium roms are my absolute favorite.

i have used EnergyROM since February (Thats when i got my Rhodium) but Ark's roms are the fastest, cleanest, and overall best for battery life I have found. I love it. I highly highly highly recommend it if you like the stock look but a custom feel with a super fast shot of adrenaline in there!
If you get the HTC Messaging Client one then I suggest you install the newer version of it via CAB (if i find it, i'll post it here) because the new 2014 revisions of the HTC Messaging Client are faster-- i mean, if you text

its not so much the layout as the little things that bug me. I tried that built you suggested and it was nice but for some reason it always sent me a confirmation text saying that my last text I sent out was sent. I tried disabling it when I went into Message Options- then uncheck the box for delivery confirmation. I posted on the Valkyrie thread about it maybe there is a fix for it. I tried different styles but I like the standard threaded SMS (similar to the 6.1 style).
and shishir95, I tried to look at that ROM you suggested and I had to make a htcpedia account and I did not get a confirmation of my account yet.. I did look at some of the ROMs and apps and im awaiting my confirmation now
