Hi,
I've just picked up a lovely new Jabra Halo headset. On receipt I got it all working and was impressed with the sound quality etc through the headset and the controls. Decided that after a quick play it was time for its first charge so I set it to charging and left it be for the weekend (no need to use it anyway).
I came to use it this morning and now I can only get "phone audio" to work, i.e. if I make a call it goes through the headset properly, but music insists on playing through the phone speakers.
I'm new to android so this might be a total n00b question, in which case I apologise in advance
I tried deleting and re-pairing, didn't help. I also rebooted the Desire, again no help.
Thanks in advance
Matt.
Try the following:
Delete all pairing on the phone regarding the HALO headset.
Press the button on the HALO as long as the blue and the orange LED emits permanently (it takes about 5 or 6 seconds).
This is a special pairing mode of the Jabra Headset.
Search the HALO with your phone.
After pairing in this mode stereo should just work fine.
Give it a try

Hi all,
I swapped my old O2 G2 BT headset for the new O2 one and have to say I noticed little improvement. I even upgraded to the 3900 build of the stack but no difference. However I then gotta thinking....
By default the profile being used was hands-free, but I seemed to remember the XDA2 using only headset. So - I found that by holding the -vol button for 15 secs I could register it as a headset profile (the XDA2s cannot use any of the hands-free bits anyway - voicedial etc etc).
Well, the audio quality is improved and the range appears to be better. It is still not perfect (or as good as it was on the XDA2) but it is now useable.
I am going to test for the week before I decide if I shall get a refund or not.
Cheers - Rich
Hi Rakh!
Where can I get the BT3900?
Thanks!

the -vol button on the side?
When did you do that? - it doesn't seem to do anything on mine??
Thanks

Hi, yes the -vol button on the side. Switch it off (red light) wait 5 secs and then hold the -vol button for 15 (yes fifteen) seconds!

Hi,
Nope - still doesn't seem to do anything on mine. Either i'm doing something wrong or it only works on the xdaIIs and not the M2000 (they are suposed to be the same hardware but it might be a software thing).
Thanks anyway,

-vol button on the side of the O2 BT headset - not the XDA2s
Sorry for the confusion but I didn;t figure out what you were doing unitl now
Rich
Ahhhhh - doh!
Thanks for clearing that up.
I have a Jabra BT250 - and yes I was using the vol- on the phone

Jabra phones default to the headset program. Holding in the +Volume button on the headset while setting up for pairing turns on the optional Hands-free profile. This is just hte opposite of what the original post was about. The original poster had a G2 headset which defaults to Hands-free, but can be forced to Headset Profile.
Hi,
So what's the difference between headset and hands free?
--ian
Hands-free enables support for voice dialling etc etc etc. Headset simply allows you to use the mic and earpiece of the headset. I presume that the added functionality of the hands-free protocols take some of the 'bandwidth' from the voice part of the protocol and as a result exagerate the bad sound quality...???

Jabra headset
Hi to everyone!
I'm a Jabra user myself but I can't seem to enjoy the last number called redial feature with my XDA2 device (with ROM by Dr. Stein).
Any suggestions on how I can use this feature?
Thank you very much!
i have a motorola HS850.
it defaults to handsfree
anyone knows how to force it to headset?
it used to work such that when I open the boom on an incoming call, the call will automatically be answered.
now it doesnt work that way..
it just waits for either the bluetooth action button or the green answer button on xda iis to be pressed..
i have downgraded by BT [ recently upgraded to 3900 ] back to 3500 and the Motorola HS850 can auto answer whenever the boom is opened..
Guess 3900 is not perfect anymore
My HS850 works fine with BT 3900
Perfectly clear. Not tried switching handsfree to headset tho.
jabra bt 250
i m using a JAbra bt 250 and a qtek 9090..i tried the setting...but dont kno if it worked...in my shortcuts..it says hands-free connction to jabra..but i want it to be headset...coz thers too much of crackling right now..?
I've recently acquired one of these headsets and have managed 2 pair it with my O2 XDA II mini. However, i am unable to stream music to the headset but am able to answer calls and make them too. Does anyone know how i could stream music from my phone to my headset?
if you check in the forum for your pda, i believe you will find you have to upgrade your bluetooth software?
then you will find new menu's in the bluetooth settings including audio/audio streaming.
have the headphones, and am very pleased
already have da software
Hey, i already have the software but the thing is nothing appears in the box labelled "default headset" even after i have paired the device with my XDA. And whenever i try 2 stream music, it initially says connecting but eventually the connection fails and the music does not stream to my headset. Does anyone know how i can get the headset to appear in the default headset drop down box?
when you paired the h/set & phone, what choices did you get?
When I turn my headphones on, my handsfree part pairs but my stereo part won't pair automatically, usually. I just connect it manually, but sometimes it won't just connect so I have to disconnect the handsfree part before I connect the stereo part then reconnect the handsfree part. Occassionally, I have to repeat more than once.
Pair it to the device you want stereo from, start the default "Headset" system for normal talking, press the left multifunction to terminate the connection to the "headset" profile, then press the right multifunction button to trigger the "stereo headset" profile to start.
Or, try to force it after pairing and then press the rightmultifunction to accept the connection and have the device bind that call to that function, enabling and disabling the stereo data.
I had to do the first part with my new HP iPAQ hx2495 to get the stereo headset profile going when i installed the headset as both stereo and regular.
I finally got my HT820 working
I have a T-mobile US MDA.
I first upgraded to ROM 2.24 which supports A2DP, which is what the headset uses for sound other than the phone. (When you flash your ROM it intalls all new boot up software so it changes your hard-reset process, and you lose your support.) Then I paired. You should see the services the headset offers, handsfree and stereo. There's also a menu available when you hold-slelect the name of the BT device in the device list that's handy.
I did discover that it is a headset problem if the sound skips out irratically averaging about 20 seconds. There was a bad batch sent out to/from Hong Kong. Motorola is replacing mine, but I had to pay to ship it to them.
Hope this helps!
I don't want to hijack your thread but I don't know where else to turn. I have requested help elswhere on this forum for my problem but I can't seem to get any help.
I have a ht820 and a cingular 8125. I've been able to pair the headset with my phone but, when I try to play a mp3, the voice speed dial comes up, the mp3 plays for about 3 seconds, then the mp3 audio reverts back to the phone.
Do I have to flash to a different rom, do I have to tweak registry settings? I don't really have a clue what I should do. Please help.
Porter
Edit: I've solved my problem. See this thread for my fix.

Actually what it sounds like is the phone is only connecting to the headset for that time under the premise of a voice dial with the headset profile. I think you're lucky enough that you can get it to play for those 3 seconds. I have a Sony Ericcson w810i and I can't even get any audio from it to the headset at all without using the w810i's 3.5mm adapter to the patch cable on the headphones which just looks weird. But you might want to do a search for your model phone like this, "Cingular 8125 Motorola HT820" and see what kinda results you get.
Guys, this has been ongoing since I first had WM6 and my Sony Bluetooth headphones. I have tried both HTC WM6 ROMs and have the same problem with both.
Every time I connect the phone and the headphones (with the stereo headset icon appearing in the top bar on the display) the music still insists on playing through the speaker rather than the headphones.
To solve this, I have to go into the Bluetooth settings for the headphones and turn off the wireless stereo checkbox; I then come all the way out of Bluetooth settings and then go back in and re-check the tick box. After that it works fine.
As a daily London rail commuter, my fellow commuters are less than impressed with a short burst 'The Mamas and the Papas' so early in the morning so please have sympathy on them and try and help me solve this
Many thanks.

I bet that is fairly embarrassing! Which bluetooth headset do you have?
I own the Motorola S9 and have never experienced that problem.
Have you tried re-marrying the devices?
Try this: Hit on the play button of your bluetooth headset then start WMP.
For me, it works

Thanks a lot
Im glad it works for you
Hi,
I have the handsfree headset that came with my Desire, now about 2 months old. A couple of days ago the control buttons on the headset stopped working, I can no longer remotely answer calls, or pause and change music tracks. The headset earphones and microphone still work, I can listen to music and use it for phone calls that have been activated from the phone itself.
The headset itself has not received any 'obvious' damage, it hasn't been dropped in water or the like.
Before I go out and buy a new headset I thought I'd better try and confirm if they were indeed at fault. Is there, for instance, a phone setting to disable the headset controls.
Have you tried rebooting the phone? I once had the media service play up and the keypresses stopped working until I rebooted the phone.
You could also have installed some other software which are capturing the button inputs.
The buttons work over the microphone wires, so its unlikely to be a broken cable if the mic is still working.
I have done a soft reset, taken the battery out, no help. Next move, I suppose is a hard reset back to factory settings. I've not done one of thesebefore, what do I lose, or better put, what doesn't the back-up save?
I use bluetooth Heahphones on my s3 and it worked perfectly, paired and i get beautiful sound. But on my s4 i paired my bluetooth headphones with my phone and it synced great. I have a pair of LG-TONE HBS-730 earphones and also a FM transmitter in my car. Last night and this morning I had a similar problem as yours, and I had to restart the phone so I could hear music and calls through the bluetooth devices. A couple of hours ago, I tried again and everything worked very well, BUT after disconnecting them, the phone went like it was on Silent Mode. No sound at all, no ringtone, no music, even the alarm didn't emit any sound, so I had to restart the phone and sound got back to normal. At this moment I am doing some tests connecting and disconnecting the BT earphones, but the problem is gone, so I don't know what's going on.

On my s3 it paired automatically! on the s4 i had to do this.....
With the Power off, press the CALL button and move the power switch to the ‘ON’ side at the same time for 4 seconds to manually place the headset in pairing mode
I hope this helps!
Use BT all the time on my gs2 ill try this out tomorrow and see if there is anything out of the ordinary.
Needing to pair the bt device to the phone is very normal for the very first use - especially if its been paired with another device in its history. Ive found bt devices (headsets like the jabara bt3030/street2) often cant really have more than 1 or two pairs total or they dont connect / dont stay connected properly.
Also the samsung bt stack has had lots of issues with BT devices over the galaxy generations. hopefully its not back.
I've used a Moto S10 & S11 HD stereo BT and 2 different Jawbones without issue.
