Just a little 'wow, this is amazing' thread but it really is! Coming from the HD2 and having had the HTC Magic I was a little wary of coming over to Android again but I'm SO glad I did. SMS input is so much better, doesn't skip all over the place and the phone just does what it should do!
Seriously a very good phone, everyone should have one!! Beats the iPhone hands down IMO

Where did you order your phone?
Congrats! I am still waiting mine from Clove
SW version, OTA update to .04
Got it from CPW on upgrade, unlocked, walked in on Friday to my local store and walked out 30 mins later
Not actually made a call on it as yet (first day running it as was waiting for new SIM to go active but got impatient)
Not noticed a pink tinge as ywt but will keep an eye out.
Just to jump into this thread (not intending to hijack it or anyhing! ) I got mine on Friday, it seems worlds ahead of my old T-Mobile Pulse!
I never noticed the pinkish tint until I read that thread, now I do notice it! Haha!
I haven't had a chance to test headphone loudness.
I got 22 hours on my last full battery charge, but I've been using the phone LOADS as it's so addictive!
Version info:
Firmware:
2.1-update1
Baseband:
32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11
Kernel:
2.6.29-3cb3dfbf

I'm another new owner.
just got mine on a free upgrade from Vodafone.
Loving it so far, but first Android phone.
Been used to using Winmobile in various version with a HTC Trinity and a Samsung Omnia, and the touch responsiveness is so good.
Now to find versions of the apps I'm used to like nav and music/video

What built release date is your Vodafone UK please?
To find out dial *#*#4636#*#* then go to 'System Info'. The first very first line should provide the build date.
The UK Retail build date is: 1 April 2011
and the build version is: 3.4.177.3.
anyone care to check that for me?
Looks like Fri Jun 3rd, for the update I got last week.

Thank you
Do you have most or some of the bugs described by other Froyo users (i.e., sluggishness, crazy behaviour with LED notifications, overheating, CPU overload and etc.)?
June 3rd build date suggests there was a small gap for testing by carriers. Unlike what the intenet made us to believe, it doesn't actuall take that log time at all.
Would someone recommend a store that can unroot and install roms for me?
I have spent too many hours already and I give up. I've walked into over 20 mobile shops but no one can recommend someone who can do this for me.
Hope someone can help. Cheers. Pete

No offense. But why do you want to install custom Roms if your not 'tech savvy'?
Likewise I will help if I can.

Hey guys thanks for replying.
twizted, it's not that I'm not tech savvy, it's just that I've wasted too much time on getting this thing. I mean, I am have been an IT technician for over 15 years, my home computers are linux and freebsd systems.
I bought my phone from vodafone and after 4 weeks of head f*cks with the vodafone network I decided to switch to telstra.
The problem with the telstra network is that my htc dhd does not take advantage of telstra's nextG because this phone lacks the frequency that telstra's 3G operates. Frustrating but what can ya do?
Anyway, where are you guys located? I'm on the road visiting clients on site around Melbourne CBD and surrounding inner suburbs. I'm happy to come to you or what ever works. I live in Point Cook which is near HELL.

I figured a thread like this may be useful as people will probably end up posting things like this in the Google Play announcement thread.
Mods: Use your discretion if you disagree with this thread.
So Mr. What Can Brown Do For You person just came and dropped off my GN. I didn't open the box yet. I noticed that the return address is NOT Google:
Return phone/address:
(855) 836-3987
UPS-SCS GA
BLDG 1 DOOR 54

Anyway, can I answer any GN questions for anyone? I'll be happy to turn it on, take photos, etc. if people are wondering if the shipped ROM matches info given out by Google, radio info, etc.
Put it on your head and take a picture.

Well I didn't want to switch to Verizon to get a Nexus phone when I was happy with my Nexus S. If you're saying that there was a thread like this already for new USA owners, I apologize. I figured the forums would be filled with these kinds of threads and I didn't notice any right off the bat.
Does this have different radios than what we currently have?
EDIT: Answered my own question, the stock image has I9250XXLA2 in it. How come this doesn't have North America-specific radios?

ahh, to lazy to update... half a sleep, rolled out of bed to pickup phone from ups, ate some wendys and charging this thing... 2 things i noticed
1. samsung has one dusty factory , my nexus s was the same way
2. a samsung that charges fast? (checks pulse)
sigh btw im stuck rooting my g/f droid 2 global fun... :: thinks locked bootloaders r evil ::: :: looks at sbf files, thinks about taking a nap::
I'm going to cry... I finally got a Galaxy Nexus that does not have a purple tint a lower brightness levels. My dark grays are actually dark grays! This is my fourth and I believe should be my last Galaxy Nexus.
GNEX in the hizzy!
Got mine about two hours ago.
Running off my works wifi for now....Can't wait to go get some service after work but the question is ATT or T-Mo?? I'm not sure yet..in my area they both have good coverage.
Anyway, first GNex and no purple tints no visibly bad screen. Compared to my old GS2-E4GT the GNex blows it away. Looks better than my co-workers IP4 screen in comparison also.
Maybe my eyes are getting old(30), because just 5 months ago the Atrix 4G pentile screen was enough to drive me away and sell the phone. After reading all the awful stories and how obvious the pentile is...I am relieved and I can't even tell honestly.
So far the 4.0.x experience on my phone is great, already have a TP so 4.0 wasn't new entirely...but wow big step up on the phone!
I'll use it for a few weeks while deciding which rom to start with

Go prepaid. If you don't talk much, T-Mobile. If you do, Straight Talk's at&t SIM. (YMMV with coverage in your particular location, of course)

Hush, the "pentile is eeevul" crowd might hear you.
Been busy getting settings back the way they are on my Nexus S. Can someone please link me to that screen pictures thread that has the OK/NOT OK red stamps on them? I remember seeing it somewhere, and I want to see how my screen stacks up. Having the GN side by side to the Nexus S, the screen is waaay darker on full brightness than it is on the Nexus S. (Nexus S 100% bright is BLINDING) I'm also noticing that the GN is a warmer color than the Nexus S and shows more color change. (compared to the Nexus S, which has none IMHO) Thank you!

what's the first thing that everyone is going to flash (rom, kernel, etc)?

I'm guessing that they won't release anything over the long weekend, so if it doesn't drop today we're looking at the end of next week? (I'm on Voda and can live without it, but the flickering is driving me crazy...)
(I know the numbers in the title don't accord with Voda/3 - I'm should have just entitled it 1.29, but wanted to make it clear that I'm referring to .11 and not .07)

Yeah true, I just hate the fact that everyone has to wait on their respective network provider to test and release the updates on their own software before its released to the public.
I expect that the reports of people 'losing' storage post the update may be slowing down the certification.
I've no problem with them testing updates (it's them who'd have to deal with customers with broken phones) but the lack of information is nuts - they should learn from the Windows update saga that MS had to manage with the upgrade to Mango.
Childishly pressing check for updates around every 10 mins myself - don't know about you guys...
No update in Hong Kong for unbranded devices. We got 1.28 at exactly the same time as UK, 1.29 came very similar, but the second 1.29 hasn't arrived. So don't feel too bad.

I'm guessing you have an unbranded handset from Phones4U or someone, right?
Branded Vodafone Spain here, also waiting to 1.29 I don't mind waiting if they are testing it, but please give us some information!!
I don't have any screen flicker, but I've lost 10gb of space!, I know I can reformat my sd space but it seems pointless until I get the update.
On 3 UK The 1,29 is in testing and they haven't a clue when it's going to be released. Hopefully the end of the week. If not I'm ranting at Three support again.

Re: Just Vodafone UK and 3 left for 1.29.401.11
Vodafone UK and 3 won't get 1.29.401.11 if they are branded, will they? So I'm guessing the OP was talking about the equivalent update?
So was I. Oh sorry, HK versions don't affect you and you're so narrow minded that you can't even see that it's not relevent for an unbranded regional update to come after branded ones?
You're obviously poster of the year with your 1 thanks. Well done.

I'm pretty happy with Voda and can live without .11 for a while, although it would be nice to get rid of the flickering. It isn't the end of the world, but it is surprising that they are taking such a long time to sort things and doesn't fill me with confidence.

What's your full version number? I thought all unbranded phones had at least the first 1.29 OTA sent out.
This is getting beyond a joke, now. Voda are generally pretty quick off the blocks, but we are now entering the sixth week since this update emerged and there is still nothing from them. Is this how it's going to be from now on?
The Voda forum has a post which indicates that the latest update for Android 4.0.4 & Sense 4.1 is 'expected by November 17th'. I have no idea whether this is accurate, but with 02 releasing theirs last week, that sounds extraordinary. I was expecting it this week...
