A way to Install an apps from my site? - About xda-developers.com

Hi all,
I wonder if anyone knows of a way to enable customers to download & install a free apps directly from my own web page.
Surfers should be able to surf to my web site using android web access, click on something, and then apps should be installed on their android (no need for market or "adb install file.apk").
Any clue will be accepted with many thanks,
Falco

If they have set their settings to allow it then the standard browser knows that it should open .apk files in the programs installer.

Link to Browse Android market

Hi! all. if my country does not have the android market to view those paid apps. is there a way to browse the all the apps available for android from the web? if possible provide download so that i can install on the SD Card.
As far as I'm aware you can't browse the market on a PC.
You could root your phone then install mearket enabler. This will allow you to see all apps,
www .appbrain. com
You can't download them though.

[Request] NY Times

Does anyone have another android device with 2.x and Titanium so they can make a back up .apk?
I saw a video where a guy got it to work on a Gen8 tablet.

I've googled this one...
Thank you for contacting NYTimes.com.
The Android NYTimes Reader is currently only available through the Android
market for devices and OS versions that have been explicitly approved by
Google to access copy-protected applications in the Market. Unfortunately at
this time there are no plans to distribute the installation package via
other channels.

I did a little investigating with this one. There are at present several obstacles to the NYTimes app working on the edge:
1. It is allegedly built for Android 2.0+
2. It's not available outside the market
3. Even obtained through a device with market access, the apk is a "Protected App" and therefore cannot be backed up via astro and exported in the usual workaround. (at least, not unless your phone is rooted)
4. Even then, many apps obtained through the market are linked to a goggle account (especially protected ones, even if free) and if somehow circumvented, they may cease functioning when the device that the apk is put onto (like the edge) does not match that account.

But he was running it...
with adb it is possible to extract

Cann't install apps anymore on Pixel 2XL

Hello all,
I cann't find a solution to install apps in sideload on my Pixel 2XL.
It was after flashing version 10 in the beginning of september.
After a lot of trying I give up and hope someone else here can help me.
My Pixel 2XL is unlocked but not rooted.
Normally I do the sideload by transfer an apk to my dropbox. After that I start it up and do what the system tells me.
Nowadays I got a return of a message in dropbox that -it is impossible to open the apk and download an app to open the apk-.
After that I download the apk to my download folder to try again. Then, when trying to startup, I get a popup with the name off the apk, the version nr, the size and packagename.
There is also a button to view apk content. When I push that button the right folders of the apk are indeed visible.
There are also 3 options. One to install, one to go to playstore and one to stop further actions and go back.
When I try to use the button install the result is that nothing happened, no signal, no message from the system, no popup, really nothing.
You all know that this is not what I want. I just want to install the apk. I have tried it with a few other apk's with the same results. :crying:
Before the last OTA upgrade to android 10 it was normal to install with these methods.
Thanks for who can helping me and others for trying to help me.
Greetings.

Have you enabled install apps from unknown sources? You'll also need to enable apps to install apps from what I can see in android 10. If you pull up an apps indignation you can expand the options and there will be an option to allow it to install apps, which Dropbox may need. The first one needs to be enabled to install apks from the download folder.

Thanks for helping me.
I did all these settings before.
Now I tried to open another filemanager (Google Files) and that did the job.
I don't know why installing in dropbox or installing in es file explorer doesn't do the same with equal settings.
Maybe an idea to uninstall and re-install these apps?
Anyway, a lot of thanks for your answer.

Android 10, install from unknown sources is like an app permission now, you have to grant it to things like chrome (download apk and install) and file managers rather than a global setting for phone. Safer as you trust an app o do it rather than letting some malware in background filling your phone with crap.

Uninstalling and reinstalling will not work, as I've done that with my modded version of ES File Explorer. This is a change in Android itself.
Go to Settings > Apps & Notifications > Special App Access > Install Unknown Apps. A list of apps will appear. Select an app and toggle the switch.
NOTE: Dropbox is on the list, but at least on my device my modded version of ES File Explorer is not.

Wildfire S with stock Android 2 does not open HTTPS pages

Hello,
is there any workaround/solution how to be able to open https webpages in bultin browser without flashing anything?
Now it does not trust the root certificates/CAs and even when selecting Continue, the pages are not loaded.
Marketplace is also not working at all, so cannot install anything else.
Locked bootloader, no twrp, stock ROM ...
Any option how to fix this without custom rom?
Thanks.
Even with a custom rom like Olivier's 4.4.4 I cannot browse https sites no matter which browser I use. I think it's because OpenSSL version of these android versions are too old and not so secure so modern https refuses them. I don't know if there is a way to install a recent version of OpenSSL though.
To install apps you can use adb but most apps nowadays requires at least Android 4.x.x+ and even 5+. What I do on custom 4.4.4 ROM is; first thing I install F-droid by either adb or copying apk to sd card and using cyanogenmod's built-in file manager to install it. Then I can install most of what I need using f-droid. If I need anything that's on playstore but not on fdroid then I install Aurora Store from f-droid.

Disney+ and Primevideo on TCL 43P610 Smart tv

Hi, I bought this smart tv yesterday and I saw that it doesn't have many useful apps, including disney + and Primevideo. They are not even present on the store. Also in the system there is no app that acts as a file manager or that allows you to install external apks. I would like to know if anyone knows a way to install those apps, or change firmware, or install a file manager, or something like that. For example i see on youtube that with old smart tv they were able to downgrade the firmware and install a different store from which they install a file manager, and from this they install primevideo.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Hey @vincent99187 did you manage to install anything on this **** 43P610?
I have bought as well some weeks ago due a good offer but I totally understand why now... Are we forced to buy an external device to have something usesul a side ths chinese **** preinstalled?
I saw a video with same interface and previous 'app store' where was feasible to download 'es file explorer' to navigate and install APK so somehow I still want to believe, however now isn't available to download and I don't find any way to enable adb or to move our things here..
