Hello,
is there any workaround/solution how to be able to open https webpages in bultin browser without flashing anything?
Now it does not trust the root certificates/CAs and even when selecting Continue, the pages are not loaded.
Marketplace is also not working at all, so cannot install anything else.
Locked bootloader, no twrp, stock ROM ...
Any option how to fix this without custom rom?
Thanks.
Even with a custom rom like Olivier's 4.4.4 I cannot browse https sites no matter which browser I use. I think it's because OpenSSL version of these android versions are too old and not so secure so modern https refuses them. I don't know if there is a way to install a recent version of OpenSSL though.
To install apps you can use adb but most apps nowadays requires at least Android 4.x.x+ and even 5+. What I do on custom 4.4.4 ROM is; first thing I install F-droid by either adb or copying apk to sd card and using cyanogenmod's built-in file manager to install it. Then I can install most of what I need using f-droid. If I need anything that's on playstore but not on fdroid then I install Aurora Store from f-droid.

Hi all,
I wonder if anyone knows of a way to enable customers to download & install a free apps directly from my own web page.
Surfers should be able to surf to my web site using android web access, click on something, and then apps should be installed on their android (no need for market or "adb install file.apk").
Any clue will be accepted with many thanks,
Falco
If they have set their settings to allow it then the standard browser knows that it should open .apk files in the programs installer.
Have the warm Rom and now when I try to download flash player from market it won't install
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
It is probably already installed. Many roms come with apps like that pre-installed. Often times these pre-installed apps don't attach themselves to the market.
The result is that the market shows you have never downloaded it, but if you try to download it, it can't install over top of the existing one.
You have two options. One is use something like Titanium backup to find the Adobe Flash APK. It has an option to "attach to market".
The other option is to use any root explorer and remove the existing Adobe flash APK. After you un-install, then delete, reboot your phone. Then go into the market, and download flash player.
I have ROM Manager on my phone but as we all know, it does not have many of the ROMS available out there including some of the newer Z roms. I have a new iMac at home and am unsure as to how to push roms to the phone, so I have been relying on qr codes or what is available on rom manager. Is there a way to download a rom, theme or mod file and then somehow create a qr code so that rom manager can upload?
Download them from the phones browser, then in ROM Manager hit Install ROM from SD Card and go to Downloads. Wipe Cache and Data and back up current ROM. DONE! Also there are apps on the Market that make QR Codes.
will try this out...been using SR3.5 and for some reason in rom manager when I select a rom I have to manually reboot the phone into recovery, unlike in other roms the application automatically throws the phone into recovery...seems strange that this happens. I guess as long as I have everything backed up I should be good to go...thanks!

What version of ClockWorkMod Recovery are you running. The newer one is giving people problems with Rom Manager.
2.5.1.2 Also, when I try and flash an older or even a newer version an error message is coming up that says "an error occurred while flashing your recovery". Not too big of a deal though...just one extra step
Just stay on the newest one and manually apply the ROM's until they fix it.
Maybe I do this the long way or something, but I was just mounting the SD card to my laptop then opening the file under My Computer and drag & drop the zip file onto the sd card. Then sometimes when I'm at work and I get the itch, I'll just go to this site on the phone browser and download the link. Another handy way is using Chrome to Phone. Just shoot the download link right over to the phone wirelessly.
^^^^^^
This is what I do as well. Chrome to phone is nice though. To eliminate as many variables as possible I often manually go into Recovery and do it.
Does anyone know if ROM manager wipes the Dalvik cache when clearing cache is selected?
Rooted now my G5 on Stock Rom, also get Root Access but get 2 issues which wasn´t planned :silly:
1. getting all couple of seconds a information that LED notifier are allowed to get root access (yes, it is set on don´t ask again, allow without timelimit...)
2. Reason why I´m rooted the phone was: Want a Couple of apps save on SD Card, now foldermount mention that supersu isn´t installed so can´t work properly
Any Ideas or maybe an alternative app to install apps on sd?
some apps only work with a certain superuser
superSU does work with the G5 but I don't think it works with stock rom - although I haven't tried (you have to root first then switch superuser although like I said haven't tried with stock rom but I have got supersu working on lineageos but I would stick to the inbuilt root)
If you want to root the G5 with stock I would use magisk - you need version 11.6 to flash in twrp then you can update to the latest version in magisk manager - only root works with magisk - dont use magisk hide or modules as they are currently not supported
If you are on lineageos just flash the suaddon zip (see the first post instructions on lineageos dev page)
An alternative app would be link2sd - please note you can natively move apps to sd but any apps that use a widget or require anything to do with internal storage will no longer work
For these apps its best to symlink them - this requires you to create a 2nd ext partition on your sd card then you link these apps to your sd card - They will then be on your sd card but act as though they are on internal because they are symlinked
Be warned that the more apps you link in this way you may find your phone become more laggy
Hey guys,
The default Chinese ROM does not come with WebView & if you tried to add a Google account with opengapps the whole thing would crash so you couldn't get very far. I thought Nubia was being deliberately difficult with getting Google onto the stock ROM but it turns out if you installed Google Stock it would work fine but wipe out a lot of the Nubia apps (Messaging, phone etc) and I rely on the messaging since I'm in China and it formats messages quite nicely if it recognizes them.
The reason Google Stock would work is because googlewebview was installed by default, whereas in anything below (pico, micro, mini etc) it wasn't. The solution was simple, take the micro gapps and ensure webviewgoogle and chrome are installed, so I've modified the installer script slightly and added the two apps to the 'must install with micro' list and also added the apps into the Core and GApps directories.
Maybe not too useful to you guys, especially those within the Google ecosystem, but all I needed was Google Play since it's mostly blocked here unless I use a VPN anyway. Having more Google Apps just causes more pain than it's worth.
Here's the first package, Micro Gapps with Chrome & Webview: https://mega.nz/#!nD5FRABB!fn2eduFXkHXk9LhL7mMwSOhIEDoXU14EBkkoexDm7ys
I will add an even smaller package (pico) later with the required mofications to get running under stock China.
Note this has been tested on 4.30 and 4.34, it should work on ROMs below if they're on Android 7.1.1
It will not work on the beta (开发板) as it's on 8.1
How to install?
Thank you for your reply!
Is this the full amount of GAPPS?
Install the same way you would install opengapps (install TWRP, root with TWRP, boot into phone, reboot into recovery, install the opengapps package above)
It's just micro with Chrome and Webview, the stock gapps from opengapps works without any modification!
Oh nice, good work! Thank you.
Does it still stuck sometimes on "downloading"?
Thanks for contributing. I actually want the contact and calendar sync to work. I ended up using opengapps full and it works. I don't need webview for the playstore but for some other apps. I ended up copying calendar provider and webview to /system/priv-app and everything seems to work except WhatsApp recognizing drive. It may need to be copied there too, the source is the less of options to set permission. Hope this helps.
