Hey guys, I had a Samsung Vibrant recently that the IMEI and MAC addresses and such totally got ruined and reseted to some default numbers. Luckily I knew that they were saved in the efs folder in a file called nv_data.bin and backed those files up before doing any flashing. I was wondering where is the equivalent in the G2 so that I can copy them out of the device and place them in a safe spot in the special event if I ever need to replace those files.
I have rooted my device following the instructions on this site.
Changing IMEI's is strictly against the rules of xda. Even if you're not trying to get around an IMEI block.

I am just looking to back up my files. From what I understood there is no way to change imei. I just don't want the reset to happen to me again. If you search around this has happened fairly frequently on android and iPhones.

Hello,
I had some time ago (thanks to the experts of this forum ^ ^) managed to root my HTC DESIRE o2 Germany with a golden card.
My desire HTC is about to be sold ... but now, the user account that my phone uses (for any google app) is mine ... and I can not change it for the buyer's one to make his own.
How?
Reset the phone? But in that case how to come back? Does that make me messing root? My golden card?
Will my mobile phone will return to non-root?
I handle my gsm hellllllp!
thank you
PS: Patience, i'm a noob...
Well reset.. It won't remove root, and it'll just start up as new and asking for a google account and so on.
afaik you can't remove your google account without removing all data with it.
Just reset (don't forget to backup important data!) and don't worry.

I have managed it! super! thx you a lot
Alright guys i did my homework and i just want to know whether is it safe to perform it ..
1st i back up my data on my andriod via gmail (contacts) ,apps /data ....SMS Backup and Restore, Call Logs Backup & Restore, and APN Backup & Restore. Each one backs up its respective data to your microSD card (in /sdcard/*appname*BackupRestore/) for easy restoration...before whipping out everything on my sd card and htc sense rom ...
Rooting the phone ......after that i'll flash a custom rom in it
backup all data from gmail/SMS Backup and Restore, Call Logs Backup & Restore, and APN Backup & Restore.
that should be all
is it correct or there is any alternative ?
I need suggestion from the android users
Cheers
So... you don't need to backup your other apps?
what do u mean by other apps ?
what i thought was the apps i seen on my android device

After you have flashed a custom ROM, you have to reflash all apps you have used with your prevoius ROM, and then restore app data.
Or wasn't it you wanted to know?

Read that statement again... you save your backup files to the sd card then wipe the sd card. So where's your backup now? To tell you honestly, you are doing it wrong.
Tell us what exactly are you going to do and in what state is your phone right now? Is it rooted, s-off, etc.
but why is reflash all apps with previous rom and restore app data ?
i don't quite get it
and im quite confused with the flashing rom and reflashing all apps with previous rom and restore app data ...
okay i'll take your advice
but this statement
"backup all data from gmail/SMS Backup and Restore, Call Logs Backup & Restore, and APN Backup & Restore."
doesn't it say im going to backup data from the previous data i had ?
okay im going to root my phone next month so im going to backup my data from my sd card and reformat it ..after doing that im going to root my phone 1st ...its not rooted ..is it a wise decision ?
status of phone ...
Andriod version (2.3.3)
htc sense version ( 2.1)
kernel version( 2.6.35.10-gd2564fb ..htc [email protected] 18-2 #1)
Okay since you still have a month to prepare... check this thread. It's a bit out dated but this will get you up to speed on what you'll eventually do. At least better understand what rooting requires you to do.

Then also read this one.. you'll need this too.

NO, it's NOT the same. Desire is different from Desire HD and both are totally different from Insipre4G. Would you please use the search button before posting?

Make sure you know if its Inspire or Desire HD. Because they may have different methods for rooting the device. Good luck.

If first you decide what you want to do with your phone, understand what you need to do to get that, then read a lot to get all necessary info, you will be good to go. Just think first.
Hello, and thanks for taking the time to read my post. So, here's the thing: I had some photos, which I had locked with the default option(when seeing them in Gallery-->Options-->Lock), and my ex-girlfriend(which is a whore, apparently), deleted them before she broke up with me. I need to recover them. Thanks for all the help, brothers!

DiskDigger or Undelete
Freeware Apps that will help you recovering those deleted photos.
( Just the sectors shouldn't be overwritten )
Your phone needs to be rooted to run those apps.
Both of them are available on play store.
