Has this happened to anyone else???
Fecking idiots at T-Mobile sent me the worng phone - they sent me an HD2 instead of a Desire!!!...Been there done that, wanted a Desire. Now they tell me they are out of stock!!!!!!!!!! Anyone know anywhere that has stock?
What a nightmare mate, there is nowhere on the T-mobile account page that even tell us what phone we have
****, hard luck mate, if i were you i would have called the super visor/director or whatever and tell them to get you a Desire right now or a full refund, and get out of their contract if you have one
Annoyed even more as the website still lets you order even though they are out of stock.

I know this has been asked 100 times already including by myself. But seriously where is the Orange UK rom for bootloader .80. I've never known a phone to not have a rom available somewhere online. And what makes me mad more than anything else is people keep saying "i've got an orange stock rom, tell me how i can dump it and i'll share it with every1." and guess what they get given links to show how to do it and they don't ever reply. So im beggin someone please post this rom. If you do i'll donate u £20. EASY MONEY!

or just wait until orange brings out the "update" they are apparently working on it, so it should come, then again, nobody in their right mind would want to go near any of that bloated crap, unless you need to bring it back for service etc
thanks for replying m8 I'm gonna sell my girlfriends desire but I rooted it and I think it will be less hassle if it was back on the Orange rom.

Does anyone know if they're still shipping the replacements with Gingerbread loaded "in error".
Have one coming tomorrow and was just curious as, well, that version hasn't been rooted yet and I don't want to not have CM on my phone.
Yes got one Friday after I specificly asked for froyo

I wouldn't count on it though. I work for T-Mobile and they are definitely aware. It is a know issue so it will stop real quick.

Good to know, thanks for the info guys
Still bewilders me that they could have such an "error". Shipping phones with an entirely wrong rom on them, and 100's if not 1000's of them? Thats quite a blunder.
Im not sure what kind of error it is cause im on my 6th gingerbread phone and after complaining about the software issues and still getting gingerbread ive given up because I finally got one with perfect hardware including the hinge
I think the only way to entice devs to root this build sooner is to start a thread where we promise donations

Thread: [Q]Warranty replacement with Gingerbread(2.3.3)
I just received a HTC G2 from Tmobile today how do I find out if it have Gingerbread Error
Settings---->About phone---->Android Version
If its says 2.2 (or 2.2.1 or something like that) you have Froyo.
If it says 2.3 (or 2.3.3 etc) you have Gingerbread.
i am scared i need to get a replacement but i can not live without my cm7
you dont know how much you loved it til its gone
I've had three replacements in the last month. None were GB.
Finally got one that seems to actually work. Yeah!
I finally got one with GB on it and I'm trying to get a new phone now. Last time I swapped my G2 they offered me an HD7 for whatever reason. Hopefully I don't get another GB one ahhh
They said I can get another G2, but can't confirm this software issue and wants to charge me $5 warranty processing fee. WTF is wrong with these people?
The reps don't have a way to pick the software build you're going to get. The system they use does everything automatically, it's not like the rep calls the warehouse for you and says "Customer Jim Bob needs a G2 with Froyo... stat!"
It just doesn't work like that.
Source: I'm a former Tmo rep.
(Not trying to be harsh and trust me, I'm as skeptical of Tmo's intentions as anybody, but I'm just trying to get the point across that it's not the reps who are the problem, in this instance at least. There are plenty of other cases when it is the rep's fault.)
Your best bet to get the fee waived is to press the "you sent me defective equipment" case. Tell them the phone freezes, doesn't turn on, has a bad touchscreen etc. Demand a supervisor, or threaten to cancel if they insist on charging the fee. Hang up and call back if you have to. Generally, sooner or later, you'll run into someone who is willing to waive whatever fee it is that you're trying to get waived.
I got my g2 with GB 2.3.3 today as an insurance replacement and it runs smooth like butter. Not a single hitch yet, all my old apps are back on, wifi calling works, there are a few new little touches (different color scheme and status bar icons, cursor when touching in a text box) and a lot of features are seriously sped up (syncing and connecting to a wireless network are noticeable).. I'm a bit sad I can't just temproot and overclock my phone in a few touches of the screen, but I'm happy with it so far!

So, I lucked out and was sent one on 2.2. Already rooted and back to cm7. Though in the process of resetting the old phone, my sd card doesn't want to read anymore.

Ok so yea I took the OTA 4.24 (dont know what possessed me at the moment) and now im suffering from the loss of my root I reckon if I give a good enough excuse or tweak the phone a little bit to make some disfunctions in it , Sprint could exchange for another phone which is a 50/50 chance of it being back on froyo . So if anyone would love to share any ideas of pure slickness please share before I take the phone to the top of mount everest, aim it towards HTC headquarters , yell LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME DO at the top of my lungs, and throw it as if its the final throw in the next superbowl.
the chances are slimmer with every day that passes. I'd say 99% sure you will get the other one with GB.
Also root is not a valid reason to have your phone exchanged, if its fully functional the rep won't help you.
also for when you throw it,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAYL5H46QnQ
Have you checked to see if you're still s-off? If so, you can just flash a recovery then flash a rooted rom.
Edit: and yeah, your replacement will have Gingerbread. Very slim chance otherwise, so I wouldn't even try.

Hi everyone,
I made a stupid error last night and I flashed the wrong rom to my phone :S I flashed a AT&T ROM, now my phone won't turn ON at all tried all combination to go into download mode nothing happen. When I plug it to my computer it required a driver that I couldn't find. to make it worse I called T-mobile hoping that they will help me but they couldn't because I don't have a prove of purchase :S since I bought it from someone else.
Any idea what can I do ?
Yep, it's dead for good unless someone has figured out how to make/use a USB jig for the TMO SGS2... that's why we read before flashing roms.... it's never really a good idea to flash a rom from a different device anyway.
What a retarded mistake, seriously?
You go to flash a ROM but fail to even recognize that they are two totally different phones?
If you are that clueless you should not even be flashing ANYTHING

I doubt it'll come back to life without a USB jig. You can try calling T-Mobile for a replacement again and just tell them you need a warranty replacement...the person you were speaking to probably doesn't know that proof of purchase is not required. I've never had to show proof of purchase and always gotten my phones from somewhere other than tmobile, but I think that would be considered fraud in your case since its not really a mistake on the manufacturers part....
Does it boot up? if it doesn't boot at all you're golden. Just call in for a warranty replacement.

Yes, even if you do not have a proof of purchase, you can call Samsung directly and get it replaced.
Please remember this guy came here for help not to be criticized. I also know that when something like this happens, it's no fun and he's probably feeling bad enough as it is, so why add salt to injury?
Thank you for all your good replies, say what ever I'm retard or anything you want. I made a mistake ( because I didn't pay attention ). This is not the first time I flash a phone ( I flashed my previous Nexus one and flashed my HD7 ) and I previously flashed my Galaxy S II with BeastMod, I don't know how I missed it this time.
Thank you for the time that you wasted to tell me how retarded I am.
I ordered a USB jig last night and I'm waiting for it if it didn't work I'll send it to Samsung.
While I was searching to try to help Tunisiano, I came across another thread about a "bricked phone"...LOL
Apologies for laughing, but this guy in the other thread said his gf bricked his phone when she flashed the wrong rom from another device. He said he left his phone in the house for a while when he went out and she tried to flash a rom for him cause she does not like the TW launcher...LOL
...Idk if he's telling the truth or not but that was funny and people there bombed him for that...(I'm sure some of you were on that thread). I mean come on, "my gf flashed the wrong rom for me" LOL

LOL yea that's a likely story.
I can sort of understand what the OP did, I mean, it's the "even if I know it's not the right thing it's close enough and if I do it just right maybe it will work or I can make it work" thing. Haven't we all experienced this at one time or another? We learn from this stuff
Good luck OP, at least you didn't get pwned by your girlfriend!

I did it, not ashamed, it happens and I'm by no means new to the root and ROM game. Odin'd recovery and forgot to untick repartition. Same thing you got...Qualcomm high speed USB interface...this phone is way more sensitive in download mode than the vibrants are. So I brought mine back once for that then two more times for the screen.

They can't do it for T-989, only AT&T version of Galaxy S II
My first two word in my post was " Stupid mistake" because I know that it's preventable...
There's no one among us who hasn't made some type of mistake at some point in life so lay off the guy.
Sue you might not make THIS particular mistake but that's aside from the point.
For him to meekly ask people for advice while openly admitting an error that he could've lied about or blamed on a made up entity and receive this brand of childish, elitist, holier than thou, insulting nonsense is an embarrassment to the rest of us.
Sorry about your mistake man. Good luck and I hope that you don't think everyone on xda is a huge infantile douche.

First off, i would like to thank everyone who puts this awesome crap on the internet for us retards to try to do something cool with our friggin phones. Second, this is my first EVER post on a forum of any kind, so please go easy on me if i sound like a complete moron...
Im sure its important that i put what im working with here. Its an Evo 4g PC36100 Build 4.54.651.1 with Android OS 2.3.3 Kernel 2.6.35.1,
Not sure what other info you might need but let me know if you got anything else i gotta put on here.
Oh yeah... i found the phone outside a corner store about two months ago with nothing but the "owners number" and an email address on it. Dont think i just kept it though. I called the number and left several voicemails and even emailed the person a million times in hopes that i didnt have to throw away a brand-spankin-new phone. They never got back to me and instead i guess they cut off the service (which i only used to call its voicemail) about a week or so into having the phone. My brother had given me a charger that fit one of his old phones so i could keep it on incase some one called.
a few days ago, someone said that i could just flash the phone and use it with another provider. I decided i would prefer not to pay for a new phone so i would use this thing. another person told me that i would first have to root the phone before i could flash it. So i did. I rooted it with the unRevoked/revolutionary Tool method. i backed up the original stuff using this method and later installed Myns Warm TwoPointTwo because the guy online said it was a cooler rom. so i was like what the hell.
I went to the cricket store and they said they would charge me 65 bucks to flash a friggin phone. i was like "naw *****es" because my brother said i could do it at home. Most of the descriptions for Flashing say i should have Jiminy V installed BEFORE i flash my ****.
I tried that on this page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=784776
Every link send me to some site called MassMirror And that site doesnt let me do Jack ****. I signed up an account on the site but still nothing. then I uploaded a 21Mb program so it might let me. But still nothing. So i cant download it anywhere. And now im stuck.
Can someone help me access these files that u guys put on here? is there something wrong with my PC that is not letting me download them? i hope not.
If i end up being unable to get the ROM can i just try to flash this phone with the Warm2.2 Rom that i have on it? it is pretty cool and i would like to keep it, but if it wont work, Can someone suggest an alternative that i can easily find that is either similar or at least moderately user friendly? i know im asking a lot, but i really suck at this phone crap and am looking forward to not giving a some dude my money if i can do this **** at home.
BTW I intend to get the phone connected (Full $55 Plan) with Cricket next week after i get payed. I just dont have the money today to do it, and would like to have the phone flashed and ready to connect, hopefully with a fully functional ROM, by the time i go to the cricket store.
Any help is VERY much appreciated and sorry again for the huge ass post.

that link you listed is for a rom that you flash AFTER you get setup with Cricket. In the OP of that link there is a guide that tells you how to reprogram your phone for Cricket. http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...o-Flash-to-Cricket-with-Talk-Text-Wap-and-MMS that was in the OP heres a note from the link you posted to the JimmyV rom
It might be a good idea to use a newer PRL than the one suggested in that guide (since it's old). I am attaching the most recent PRL I have to this post. Also found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1002910. Im not on Cricket so i cant really help and IM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT YOU DO TO YOUR PHONE . There might be someone on Cricket that can help you more but im not that person

Well you won't need the jimmy rom until AFTER you have succesfully been setup with Cricket. So reprogram phone for Cricket then flash Jimmy rom. Also I'm not sure where to download the rom I'm pretty sure those links might be dead

FYI Jiminy V is over a year old at this point and is based on Froyo. I don't even run it any more.
Follow the flashing guide I provided in the Jiminy thread to program the phone to work with Cricket (this is completely independent from flashing a rom and flashing roms will not overwrite any of the "cricket" flash). It is the same guide I used to flash my personal phone.
No custom rom magic is required at this point with all the roms that have come out in the past year. I myself am running MikG. I like Sense roms (aside from their poor bluetooth support). I've never been able to get MMS working with Cricket on an AOSP rom unfortunately. I'd run AOSP if I could but I receive far too many pictures via MMS to give that up.
Flash a modern rom and if it is Sense based then use the dialer to enter into the EPST settings and change the MMS server urls and everything should be working as long as you set the MMS size limit to 500k.
I'm editing the Jiminy thread now to advise people that it is obsolete.
