TomTom 7 Touch HD - Touch HD Themes and Apps

Hi. Can someone tell me which version of tomtom navigator 7 is best suited for a Touch HD Blackstone please. I am currently using TTN 7.915.9196 which is working but the display is not correctly sized.
Thanks

I use 910.9185, works nice, fullscreen WVGA

Running PocketPC 7.916(9289) looks great in portrait and landscape.

Thanks for the replies. I have tried both your suggestions but have the same results. Maybe I'm being fussy because tomtom is working fine on my touch hd with TTN 7.915.9196, it's just that the car symbol and compass are very small compared to when I had tomtom on my tytn ii, in fact the compass symbol is illegible.

i'm using ttn7.917 (9186) without issue

7.910.9185 is what I am using. Ive tried the other newer versions but I like this version better

Hi Guys
Can I jump on the band wagon, I am sure i have seen a message like this before ..
I love tomtom, is there a way to keep navigating while the screen is off
it seems as soon as the screen goes off so does the gps
I would love to be able to use it while out on my motorcycle, the headphones keep the directions comming and the phone in my pocket
thanks for any help

TomTom On HD

Has anyone heard anything about TomTom on the HD? After watching the french review and her saying it doesnt work, is that because the tomtom 7 on the diamond is locked to the diamond?
I suppose we will never know until someone gets there hand on one?
And I wonder if it is because of applications made for VGA device is having problem on the 800x480 screen.
That may be the issue, however so far I have never seen the Diamond having any problems showing QVGA apps either it just blows them up. But because the aspect ratio is no longer 4:3 this may be an issue --- I can not image that HTC lets this be an issue though since hardly any application is made to suit WVGA.
There are 2 editions of TomTom (QVGA and VGA) as far as I know. The samsung omnia has also a different aspect ratio and the QVGA version works perfect. So I think the VGA version will work also on the Touch HD without any problems.
I have a Toshiba G900 (WVGA Display, 800x480) and I can confirm that TomTom works without problems on non standard screen resolutions.
This has also been confirmed by people with xperia's. It works without a problem!
Would TomTom 6 work on the HD?TomTom6 has worked fine on my HTC Universal, and its resolution is also different to the diamond. Or are there other problems to get TomTom6 work on the HD, like the internal GPS?
TomTom 6 works without any problems.
tomtom for htc diamond
i have tested both the tomtom 6 and tomtom 7 working on on the HTC diamond. It works a treat. Copilot 7 live also works well but the software is a lot older and doesnt pickup postcodes as well as tomtom.
Any more opinions as to screen compatibilty with popular software, like SB Pocket Plus and all the main apps?
Thanks!
Could anybody upload a screenshot picture of TomTom working on a WVGA Display (800x480)?

I also would be MOST interested in this as TomTom will be what I put this device to most (when I get it!).

what do you mean "locked to the diamond"? I used both TomTom 6 and 7 for months on my VX8600
TomTom 7.451 is ok (7.9 ko) but keyboard is very little...
Currently I'm running TomTom 7 on my Touch Pro with maps for version 6.75. Working perfectly. TT 7 was installed from a cab file available on this forum which was extracted from Diamond. Will this same version of TT7 will work on HD with same maps (version 6.75)? I ma not sure what is the extended version of this TomTom i.e., it is 7 but is it 7.45 or 7.9 .... don't know. Tried to find it but couldn't find any such detail. Cab file was taken from Diamond forum on this site.
I run TT 7.910.9185 with WCE map 725.1906 and agree that the street names are too small to read in traffic, behind the wheel. The onscreen keyboard however is just fine, there are two settings small and large.
I have TTN7 installed on my Touch HD, and have inserted the micro sd card from my Polaris that had TTN7 running with purchased v7 (go520) map from TomTom.
I have followed the start up process and when I get to the "select a map" screen, it shows the "Manchester" map I got as a freebie and the "UK & ROI" map I purchased & used on my Polaris. However, when I select either map, TTN7 just closes down. Any suggestions please.
The maps you purchased have been activated for your Polaris only, according to your device ID.
Sorry, but where I find the 7.910 Vga version that see my Htc HD in Tomtom Home?
Thankyou IceMatrix
P.S. Can admin delete the post in software thread

TomTom 7 Incredibly slow on my Orbit with WM6.1...

Hi,
I have installed TomTom 7 on my XDA Orbit running Windows Mobile 6.1 and have found it to be incredibly slow in tracking your location on the directions screen.
Has anyone else seen this? Is there a way to increase the performance as it is unusable as it is - I have reverted to TT6 which runs fine.
Rgds
Gary
Its ok on mine, am using tomtom7 (7.450(9028)) with map uk &IE 1409 v675.1409 and running O2 ROM
Tomtom 7
Hi all,
I'm new to this forum so please be gentle!!
I was wondering where Tomtom7 can be bought and whether anyone knows if it has the lane support functionality, where it tells you which lane to get into. I've looked on the TT site and it only appears to be available for the Diamond. I have an XDA Orbit 2.
Thanks
Jon

TT7 can not be bought, and it doesn't have advanced lane guidance either.
But it does support current maps, as opposed to TT6 for PDA, which only supports map from sometime before WW One.

Hey!
Did you find any solution for your problem? I experienced the exact same thing yesterday....even tt6 seems slow but not near as close as tt7....
iGo 8 runs fine.
I'm also running WM 6.1

it might be that you just dont have enough free RAM to run it properly
Most people have got it running OK so that would suggest its something specific to your devices
Try a reset of your device (to make sure all programs are closed fully) and see how much free program memory etc you've got
Are you also running M2D or something else memory/processor hungry ?

Hey!
I have tried two different roms "Black & Blue 5.0" and "Tom-Oops Black". I have shut down all the today thingies and made sure that not other programs are running, then installed tomtom and even tomtom6 is really slow...not as slow as tomtom7 but I would say very near unusable....iGo on the other hand works allright....can anyone confirm that a specific rom works good with tomtom7, please also include your Radio version...
,Olle
Found my own problem....
I had added a lot of own POI's, these were all set to be shown on the map, when deactivated tomtom7 runs as smoothly as tomtom6!

Which Nav Software do you use and briefly why?

Hey all,
I've been an avid user of TomTom from V5 upwards. I currently use V7.
I only have experience with TomTom and have always stuck to it as I've had no complaints. Easy to install, easy to customise etc..etc..
I'd like to ask you to vote which you use and why.
PLEASE CAN WE JUST GIVE REASONS AS TO WHY YOU USE WHICH AND NOT START ANY ARGUEMENTS WITH ANY OTHER POST!
Keep your reasons simple and to the point.
Many thanks
Wayne
edit: If anyone has any other nav software they use, I will amend the Poll accordingly.
I have tried Tomtom 7, Navigon and iGO8.
Quickly removed both Tomtom and Navigon when I got iGO8 running. Both of them had much more noticable lag.
Im using TomTom too.... but it does have lag, does igo8 have less?

MUCH less.
I'm using tomtom, well that is to say I have it on my phone as I have in car satnav, but I use it to scroll through maps etc and find the place I'm looking for prior to getting in the car.
As such I'm not really worried about the lag issue (in fact I don't think I've even used it as satnav since I've had my HD).
I did try IGO8 but I immediately installed the tomtom skin as it's what I'm used to and I like the layout of tomtom.
i' using garmin.i think it better that tomtom.way more options, but guess they all do the same at the send.
TT, even if the last version is not working perfectly on HD 'cause it wasn't designed for it, anyway it's the best and it remain the only one
sat nav
I have the Garmin in my car but atm haven’t got on my phone but I would like to put it on. Can anyone tell me if I can use the software from my car one and if so how do you put it on. Alternatively where do you get the satnav software from and is it special one just for phones.
strange no one mentions about mapking... i'm using mapking though i prefer the background of garmin. but garmin searching can be a real headache
Like the OP, TomTom. I have used several versions over several years. Very easy to use.
There is a lot of scope for personalization and custom of map colour schemes and system menu screens etc.
The supported .ov2 POI files are common and easy to install. Voice alerts area easy to create and install for all POIs including safety cameras.
Having said the above, iGo8 for example has a more comprehensive map set and impressed me when visiting the UAE. I found the display and interface unfamiliar, but I would consider prolonged use with a TomTom skin.
TomTom here as well.
Mainly so I can use my Speed Camera Database.
How poor is that.....ONLY 25.6% (roughly a quarter) of those who voted shared a comment.
If it helps I use Route 66, so I didn't even get to vote
igo is the way to go
i have a Touch HD with both TomTom and Igo8 on, i was trying to use TomTom but found it lagged and was unreliable in getting a fix( a big prob with the HD) but when i put Igo on it worked first time and every time since, and i must admit it looks much better with the topography in 3d mode, its very nice, so i WAS a TomTom fan, but now im a Igo 8 convert.
I use SYGIC (Mc Guider) 7.6 because it´s easy to handle and it works in landscape perfekt.
Ive tried CoPilot, TomTom and iGo8, and I've stuck with iGo. It seems to update the quickest, the instructions are very clear and the display is excellent.
TomTom for me.
My wife bought me a full retail TomTom package a couple of years ago including the software + their GPS device at a total cost of GBP200 (~EUR180). When I (inevitably) upgraded my phone five months later I was unable to transfer the licence to the new machine because I'd gone up a version in WM and my TomTom software wouldn't install. All of that money we'd spent on the retail version was immediately wasted, which was very annoying.
I was forced to find and use a cracked version instead of my legal and perfectly good version simply because TomTom designed their software for one specific operating system and wouldn't do anything to help me.
I have bought lots of legal software for my PC and for my PDAs (and have donated to this site) and fully support the anti-warez policy on XDA-Dev, but out of principle now I will always use a cracked version of TomTom in revenge for TomTom's policy. TomTom will never get another penny from me.
BTW, this is a useful site for downloading free POIs for most software, thought it may be useful!

CoPilot is now listed as compatible with HD:

Tried Navigon MN 7, iGo 8 and Tomtom 7...
I'm using Navigon MN7, just because it has the nicest look (maps...) when you drive...
iGo 8 is also very nice to use, unfortunately the Tele Atlas maps are not so accurate, compared to the much better NavteQ maps used by Navigon !
And Tomtom, for me, has the World ugliest display when you drive, AND the not so accurate Tele Atlas maps ! IMHO, definitely the worst navigating software you can use... ;-(

Navigation software for Blackstone

Hello.
I'm looking for some navigation software for my Blackstone.
It would be great if the phone was fully supported i.e fullscreen 800X480.
Maps have to cover Australia and also New Zealand if possible.
Thanks in advance.
Frederik
IGO8 is the best!
or you can try Garmin
Hi,if you look all the official website, no navigation software are available for our Blackstone for the moment ( Navigon,Nav N go etc ... ) . After some cooked versions works but they are not really official ....

I like IGO, but I often got the issue that it leads me to road closed to car' traffic (or limited to residents only). Can be a real disturbance...
Alright. So.. which of these "cooked" versions is the best for Australia (and New Zealand?)
For your notice, Route 66 fully supports Blackstone(acc. to their website), but the price is sky high - 179,95$.
@Prerna
It is solved and works without problems, but it is necessary to make some modifications in sys.txt.
Igo 8 And TomTom
I have igo8 and TomTom 7 on my HD and i am happy with them both, they both look great on the big screen, but i think Igo 8 looks and works the better of the two, easy to instal and easy to use, very nice piece of software
Hope this helps
take a look at this post especially covering navigation in Australia:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3287626&postcount=26
Okay. But since none of these programs supports the WVGA screen, where can I find "skins" for this resolution?
And TomTom 7 isn't official yet?
iGO 8 work on Gurjon skin with all resolution...

Best GPS software?

Im wondering which GPS software is best? Right now i have TomTom 7 its good but im still wondering if there are better ones.
Of course iGO8
a subjective question. For every person who says that tomtom is the best, you will find someone saying that Igo is....
decide what is best for YOU and go with it

Exactly....

I would have to join the IGO8 camp on this one. I have TomTom as well, but honestly, ever since I installed IGO8 I haven't started TomTom not a single time.
I prefer beautiful IGO graphics and I'm a bit of a sucker for features such as 3D landmark buildings and topographic display of terrain.
The overall experience with IGO8 has been very positive for me.
Well, I would say TomTom 7.9, because of it's ease of use, great functionality and stability, BUT! It misses the feature to record your route. iGO8 CAN do this. Even while navigating, you can record the exact GPS data. So if you decide to take a detour, you can later export the actual route and display it for example on Google Earth.
So, because of this I have to say iGO8.
iGO - eye candy
Route66 - resource intensive. lags in 3d
TomTom - sweet simple to use. fast.
I show off with iGO and prefer TomTom for major travelling.
Anyone tried Garmin? Btw anyone know of maps for India?
I use Co-Pilot 7 on my Touch HD really like it, clean and clear. Didn't like TomTom at all
How do these other units compare with Wayfinder?
I dont need fancy graphics in my GPS. TomTom it is.
Who cares about Eye Candy, are you driving while looking at your iGo or what? iGO was crap just because it didn't have much of the features of TomTom, as people mentioned already, TomTom is popular cause it is simple to use and very very clear.
just one question
do suffer with GPS lag on HD? my HD does.

Do you mean that its a bit slow with updating your position when youre about to make a turn for example? Mine is sometimes 1-2 second behind my real position. But it doesnt bother me.
i think the most important thing on navigation software is the right voice order where to drive, but more important, in the right moment. i tried lots of different software, but havent found the best yet. igo is very nice, but the voice tells me to turn left when its already too late. and its not lag dependent because the position is right and up 2 date.
so which software has the best voice timing?

My TomTom has very good voice timing. It tells me well in advance when i should turn and how many meters is left to the turn.
i downloaded co-pilot live you have to get the link from Alk if you have the Touch HD. It's great!
Useless subjective thread. GPS Test shows GPS signals but can't switch views since there is no D-Pad on the HD. You could try AE Button Plus to fix this. But haven't tried that.
Garmin Mobile XT works fine for me....
Anyone know of ANY gps apps with coverage for China? I have searched theres almost no info Tried garmin xt and it isnt useful and china support has been discontinued. The problem is all the commertial sites say like "100 cities in asia".... WHAT CITIES? they dont say Ive found a few but they only cover Beijing. I need map coverage with Pinyin/English. I don't even need fancy 3d. Something like Googlemap but with routing and streets labeled would be perfect. Any help appreciated.
I use Garmin XT and it works great,
no problems,
it even works great on all the cooked Roms i have tried,
and it finds the sats in about 10 to 15 seconds...
