GPRS Problems

Hope someone can help ... I know this should be easy but just can't get things working. I have loaded iGuidance software into my P3300 with WM6 ROM. I dont know what com port to use and which baud rate to set at in iGuidance. In the WM6 "external" software should i check off or uncheck let Wm manage. In this program it wants to know what GPS program port I am using ? and GPS Hardware port and Baud .. Hope someone can help - been about a week and I cant seem to figure it out - thanks very much
I run Destinator for satnav, and have the gps settings at COM4 and 4800 baud in Destinator.
In external GPS, I have the following settings.
Programs tab:COM4
Hardware Tab: GPS Hardware port NONE , Baudrate 4800
Access Tab: Manage GPS ticked.
Also,
I found that sometimes Destinator would say that it had lost the gps connection , then found it, over and over.
To get over this problem, I installed GPSGATE (Google for it).
Run that, it'll find the GPS on COM4, then set a "virtual" GPS connection for COM5.
Try pointing iGuidance to COM5.
That should help.

GPS problem

hello guys,
i have a great problem trying to use my internal gps of my dutch mda compact III (artemis) i have installed the PDAviet B&B 4.1 rom.
the problem i am having is that the gps cannot be found by any aplication. and the status led doesnt shine/blink (never seen it working).
i know i am using the right settings (gps program: com4, gps hardware: none, baudrate: 4800, and automatic use).
i've searched al over the place(xdadev. google) and couldnt find a solution.
so please if any one knows what is wrong, or a way to test my gps device at all, tell me!! thanks in advance`!!
have same problems,
Went to tomtom website and got tomtom 6 update(01.01.07) to start with.
Seems I did it reght as I got new splash screen on tomtom start up, got back the option for selecting "integrated gps receiver" rather than having to select the Nmea option.
But still invalid signal for now
In any application you just need to setup port on com4 and baud on 57600 or 115200.
I have tomtom and it works I’ve used miomap and it worked too.
btw: tomtom detects gps automatically as internal gps.

I think it's com4 and 4800 baud and not 57600 or 115200
a+
Agree you can set it up to 4800

GPS and TomTom

Hi guys and gals,
I've tried doing a search on the forum but I'm struggling to find what I need...
Just wondering... I've installed TomTom 6 on the Artemis and I want to configure its GPS settings to use the internal GPS. What settings do I need to use?
I was setting COM4 and 4800bps but TomTom's just saying "No GPS Device"
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks in advance,
Rob.
Hi, the settings i use for TomTom Navigator 6 are:
"Other NMEA GPS reciever" - GPS Baud rate of 9600 - COM4:
Hope this helps
Strange, I have just posted this on another forum:
Please make sure the GPS setting within the control panel section of your C-III gas not been altered from default, messing with this can cause the problem you are having, it should be set:
Programs Tab
GPS Program Port COM4
Hardware Tab
None and 9600
Access Tab
Manage GPS automatically should be selected.
Start TomTom up and got to Change Preferences/ Show GPS Status, tap "Configure" and go through the various pages, the best one to use is "Built in GPS receiver" as it is the most simple setting only versions 6,020 and 6,030 have this facility. If you are using some other version go for "Other NMEA GPS Receiver", Baud Rate 9600, and select COM4:
Take the device outside and wait for a while for it to find the signal - Mike
I agree with the post above, but when you use Other NMEA , you can use any baud rate (assuming you are using the built in GPS reciever of the Artemis) on the Artemis. I prefer 57600.
And before you go out and wait for satellite connections, plug your Artemis to your computer and Activesync and fire up QuickGPS and download ephemeris data. You can also do this when youre connected to WiFi or GPRS.
This will speed up your device connecting to satellites.
Have fun.

wat is use of GPS, GPS TUNER, MAPKINGPRO, TOMTOM ?

HALLO gyes i own htc 3300. it is having so called gps enabled port .. but tuely i found nothing useful....
see mapking dont caliber itself automatically... how to configure it ..?\
gps tuner off-road makes my device to freez.. then i should go for soft reset only.... plz help me guyes.. either let me know use of gps or a simple and fast gps navigation software.....
GPS Tuner works fine with PortSplitter:
http://www.gpsmeter.com/index.php?page=downloads
Set "Input Port" to COM4 and "Output Port" to COM5 or so. Then set the COM-Port in GPS Tuner to the same port as the "Output Port" in PortSplitter.

GPS (tomtom) stopped working all of a sudden :(

hello,
i had tomtom running on my mda compact III till a ferw days back. now when i try to run tom tom, i get an old map and the message at the bottom left saying "No GPS device" and somehow the bluelight (bluetooth ?) at the top starts flashing . i went to settings ->system (tab) --> GPS and checked the settings
GPS program port is GPD1
GPS hardware port is COM3
baud rate = 4800
access manage GPS automatically (recommended) --> checked
i googled the issue and came across the settings above at the following site
http://www.modaco.com/content/htc-a.../248572/compact-iii-gps-settings/#entry825168
the guys device works fine. can you guys tell me what has gone wrong to my GPS device
I just uninstalled tomtom navigator 6 and am reinstalling it later, but I believe these are my settings.
Other nmea reciever
Baud rate 4800
Com 4
Hardware port = 'none'.
thanks for the reply,
i tried hardware port "none" but that did not work on my xda
what was your GPS program port setting?
Go to the GPS aplet on the phone and set it as follows:
GPS Program port = COM4
GPS Hardware Port = (None) Baud Rate 4800
Manage GPS Automatically is selected
Now start the TomTom application and go to change preferences/ Manage GPS and use the selection for "Inbuilt GPS Receiver" if your software version supports this option, otherwise use Other NMEA GPS Device, Com 4, Baud 4800 and it should work fine - Mike
