WOW man, you gotta give more information than that or nobody will know what your talking about
1. You need to know what version of manila you are running, 2.1, 2.5 etc.
2. Then you need to tell us what you are downloading?
3. With any theme that you apply to TF3D, regardless of the version, you will need to "Install to Device" and not to storage card.
Please give more info and we can help!

Currently i dont have manilla on the phone thats what i am trying to put on, when i went on the thread there are so many to choose from. I put the file on my storage card then opened up through the phone but i did install to device not storage card. Is there somthing i need to do first. sorry if not too clear i bit new at all of this.

You do have manila on your phone. Touchflo (or TF3D) is manila, and so is Sense UI which you may have seen in these forums. They're HTC's proprietary UI. Touchflo is what came installed on your phone. It is being fazed out by HTC and replaced with Sense UI, though they are both made up of manila files and look very similar.
You need to tell us what you are trying to install (cab name?) and your manila version (look in Settings tab, About Phone, Software Information, Manila Version). I suspect you are running the stock rom, which would be Touchflo 1.3.
Most of the users here are using custom roms which include the latest versions of Sense UI - themes and modifications for Sense UI will not work with the older Touchflo. In other words if you want your phone to have all the functionality and look as cool as the pics you might have seen here you'll need to flash a custom rom There's a couple of excellent guides in the rom forum if you choose to go that route...

It says Touch flo for pocket pc version 3.0 is this what you mean

Found it you are right it is a 1.3 says touchFLO 3D 1.3 so are you now saying i am better to change this

Could you piont me in the right direction to flash my rom to sense UI just a point will i loose my data on the phone when i do this. Thanks

That's the guide on how to flash. Take a look at the rom forum and look in each thread to see which one you like the look of. Bare in mind there are 2 different versions of Sense as well - 2.1 and 2.5. The difference is that 2.5 has quicklinks (program shortcuts on the home tab) and is more processor intensive than 2.1 (slower, potentially, though it's never bothered me). I'm using miniterror's Ravage rom myself, though I'm fond of Balaji's roms too. Ultimately it's very much a case of personal taste though. Yes you will lose all your data though you can back up texts and contacts etc with various apps like PIM backup and My Phone. Flashing custom roms can be very addictive, so be prepared to flash a rom today, decide it doesn't have everything you want, or has more than you need, and flash a new rom tomorrow. Make sure you read that guide and you can keep flashing til you land on a rom you really like

help please

just a quick question for a stupid noob, ive flashed my diamond to Gen.Y TouchFlo3Dv2.1 VGA and im loving it, its taken a while but ive got it just how i want now, if i change the radio will i have to set up all my apps again
no.....
when i run the program its a ruu and i thought that would wipe all my apps and i would have to re install my apps, but your saying no, all my programs will stay and all the reg tweaks ive made will stay untouched .
It will wipe programs from your "phone" memory, not from the "internal" memory I think. But I think that the old ones will not be visible. Settings after flashing new rom will be removed. That's my oppinion
Radio...
Flashing a radio won't touch any of your programs or settings... it's in a different part of the ROM

Hi Bazz..
What Benko said, short but sweet , is absolutely right.. Just use the CustomRUU.exe (flashing utility) and the radio file you want and flash as is (I have HardSPL on my phone allowing me to flash anything).. I applied the same Gen2.1 ROM (my compliments to Yozgatg for a great ROM ) not more than a week ago, tried the Radio 1.13.25.24 and then decided to go back to 1.15.25.14 (search on forums and you'll find it). I've been using that Radio for a good number or months and it's pretty reliable and good on battery (for HTC Diamond) so you might want to have a look and see what others have said about it
BTW - I flashed it as is and didn't have to re-enter any settings at all and my phone booted as normal after. If you sync your phone with your desktop PC make sure you get a sync BEFORE you upgrade just in case as it's better to be safe but like grahamkdt said I doubt you'll need it.
Yeah SRY, I ment the full rom flashing

Its been a while...! Old / Newb..

The last update I did to my phone was to flash one of Alex's ROMs to my phone and I've been using it ever since but now that I see that DROID is of age I'm thinking of putting it on my phone.
So, I'm hoping some peeps would be kind enough to help out with a few Q's...
I've read most of the "Myn's Warm Donut" thread and I think that is the route I'm going to go.
- Will DROID run native on the phone or from my SD or both?
- I'm using PIM manager and SIM backup, can these be used in DROID how else would I get my contacts, txt messages, etc. back on the phone?
- From what I've read, bluetooth, battery, WIFI, GPS are definitely working is this a true statement?
- What radio and SPL is everyone using with success?
Thanks for any help.
TW,
As you are well or should be by now doing searches on all of these questions will answer everything even the contacts which I did close to 2 yrs ago. So I can't remember that now
Yes it will run on either configuration you want I recommend using haret to give it a try which myn and others give good direction for and after that if you like it install to your phones internal memory dont let the sdcard's lack of speed get you down judge it by the UI and functionality before you decide to can it.
Speed is good once installed to NAND
Bluetooth has issues with audio routing
1.71.09.01 radio version
3.34 is the spl I am using
Thanks for the post garringm - I knew the "search for it" was coming no worries..

That helps.
Thanks,
Can back up everything garringm said, Myns is possibly the most stable and fastest on kaiser, although I still prefer poly's 2.1d myself.
radio and spl are the same here too, and I'd also advise running from SD using haret, both for the experience of installing, running and setting up android without the final commitment of wiping nand.
Battery life is still shorter under android, but much improved, I find I can run it all day without having to worry too much. GPS still has a few issues on myns I think, but I use it on polymod frequently with no major issues.
As far as contacts and txt message backup is concerned, well I just backed up my contacts to SIM and used that initially, once registered on google, contacts are automatically backed up anyway, not sure about saving txts tho, but I'm sure there is a way.
To put it all in perspective, I also own a blackstone and diamond, and overall I prefer Android on Kaiser to either of those, and in fact use my kaiser as my main phone now, Android really is that good, at least for me
Thanks for the post zenity, I see you popping up in a lot of the threads.
How are you on the SD install? I'm trying to do an install on Myn's donut - downloaded the package from the link in the thread unzipped it to the root of my SD /andboot ran the install and it just hangs at "found device".
Any ideas? I assumed all the necessary files are included with Myn's rar file?

Quick question as to what the differences are between LCD's 110, 120, etc?
TW,
Some answers to the whole LCD density and resolution are here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=676959
But basically, choose a screen resolution you prefer and adjust the density to suit.
My preference for Myn's is 320x428 @ 144.
Glad to see you resolved the default.txt issue
The best way to transfer contacts IMO if you already have a gmail account, you can configure your activesync to sync with gmail, transferring all your winmo contacts to gmail. Then when you start using android, they get downloaded automatically. I dont remember the exact way but there are many guides out there just search for syncing activesync with gmail. But its true the one thing I miss from the winmo days is PIMbackup.
Regarding LCD panels and density, you can go through the roguetools thread or the many other threads discussing density, dpi, ppi etc.

Noob to flashing ROMs

I do appologize in advance about asking this question. You guys have probably already answered this time after time, but I admit it, my search-fu is week.
I am really new to this (I can get .cabs to work, never tried to flash a ROM or anthing like that) so my question is what do I need to do to get Cookie's Home Tab v1.8.5 to work on my standard AT&T Tilt 2? I downloaded the file thinking that is all I had to do, but I latter learned that I need to have the current Sense 2.5 loaded. I have already downloaded a free backup software and backed up my phone onto my micoSD card, but I am confused about the HardSPL and flashing ROMs. Could someone please help me with a step by step from the crappy AT&T bloatware to Cookie's Home Tab v1.8.5 for dummies?
Again, appologies for asking what is most likely already answered question
Mate, all the answers to your question is in a sticky on the Tilt 2 Windows Mobile ROM Development thread....
Since Sense 2.5 is necessary for running Co0kie Home Tab, and since -- AFAIK -- Sense 2.5 hasn't been included in an official ROM from ATT, you need to run a custom ROM.
And as Yakman said, you should start by thoroughly reading the first post of the the aptly-named "Flashing Your First GSM Rhodium Rom..". And if you have questions you can post them in that thread, or the nearby HardSPL thread.
another alternative... which I haven't tried myself as I always have just flashed is just to install 2.5 via a cab...
Manila Sense 2.1 / 2.5 *Updated March 11, 2010*
looks fairly simple:
-Steps for Sense 2.5 2012 Installation (INSTALL ALL TO DEVICE MEMORY):
1. Install .net 3.5
2. Install SDKCerts
3. Disable Auto Phone Shutoff:
-If on battery power: Settings\System\Power\Advanced and uncheck Turn off device if not used for
-If on external power: Settings\System\Power\Advanced and uncheck Turn off device if not used for
4. Disable TF3D 2.0 (Go to Start/Settings/Today/Items and uncheck HTC Sense or TF3D)
5. Soft Reset
6. InstallSense 2.5 2012 CFC / Sense 2.5 2012 CFC Mirror (CFC Compressed and includes all fixes. Once settled in, it runs very well! It also includes some new tabs and many tweaks/goodies! Plus, the multimedia key is now mapped to rotate the screen)
7. Soft Reset
8. Once everything is loaded and stable:
Enable Auto Phone Shutoff:
-If on battery power: Settings\System\Power\Advanced and check Turn off device if not used for
-If on external power: Settings\System\Power\Advanced and check Turn off device if not used for

I wouldn't recommend this; one would be adding 60 Mb of files to the device, on top of Sense 2.1. It is a waste of space compared to flashing a custom ROM.

I haven't ever tried it as flashing is just really easy but I remember the first time I flashed.... it was nerve racking for sure. now, 1000 flashes later its no big deal.
With my Vogue and even my touch pro I didn't want to flash so did upgrades like that though. I never noticed a change in my storage all that much. Are you sure it doesn't overwrite the 2.1 manilla files? It keeps all the old ones there? That just wouldn't be practical at all!
Regardless... for someone who was deathly afraid of flashing something like this could be a godsend.... always good to know the options out there.

I did try it, I suppose it was about 96% effective, but slow as heck and very buggy. One really does need to have Sense 2.5 installed to have a decent chance at making CHT work.

[Q] custom rom for t-mobile htc touch pro2?

hi everybody!
first of all, i'd like to ask for your leniency since i'm a total noob here at xdadev.
I just got a T-Mobile HTC Touch Pro 2, and I have no complaints in terms of reception and connectivity. However, from the very beginning I have noticed that memory usage is high even with no apps running. I have stripped touchflo from all nonessential components, like weather, stocks, etc, but it makes little difference.
Also, the rom is loaded with apps that I don't need and apparently can't be uninstalled. As an experiment, I tried to install Gmail (tho you don't really need to) and I got the following error message:
installation failed, errno=910 Application authorization failure
what's up with that??
My previous device was a generic windows phone running windows mobile 6.5.2.23090 Pro, and I really liked the finger-friendly menus. i also had flexibility to configure the device that I seem to have lost completely with the touch pro 2.
I have considered installing a custom rom, but I really like touchflo, with the black/Grey/White interface, the smart looking flipping retro clock on the front, the dialer, the menus, the multimedia handlers, etc,.
Would I be able to install touchflo on top of a custom rom? your eyes must be rolling by now, but... i have looked and i've only found versions that are different from the one I have and love.
What do you guys think? do you have a specific rom or touchflo version to suggest? lemme know!
TouchFLO is old (Manila 2.0) and replaced with Sense (Manila 2.5). Basically the same thing, but better looking, and more functionality. TouchFLO/Sense cannot be installed onto a phone after the fact. It needs to be cooked in as part of the original ROM. If you like the HTC Manila UI, look for custom ROMs which have Sense. Most of the things you mention are the same/similar in Sense as TouchFLO (although I'm not familiar with what carrier customizations to TouchFLO the T-Mob version has).
Custom ROMs will solve your issue with the carrier bloatware, and many of them manage memory better than stock. Although, you will see there is huge variety in terms of looks and what apps are cooked-in. If you want a clean, lightweight ROM try simplicity or Jackos (Jackos is really good for memory management). Many people also like Valkyrie. Energy is very popular, with great looks and lots of cooked-in apps, but not the most lightweight.
Esmertec Jbed 20090506.2.1 by Aqrab works very well with Gmail.
thanks you guys! im soooooo on it!!
Custom ROM
Hi,
I just recently (like a week and a half ago) got a T-Mobile Touch Pro 2. I had been using an older HTC Touch Viva. It just like the TP2 I bought came with Windows Mobile 6.1. I used my Viva for quite a while with WM 6.1 before I found my way here to XDA.
I went very slowly at first flashing my first custom ROM onto my Viva but after a while got to a point that I was trying out a different ROM almost weekly. The problem is that a lot of these custom ROMs have bugs in them to some degree. So I went back and forth to find the ROM that I liked that seemed to run the smoothest.
As someone previously stated, the TouchFlo 2 interface is an older interface. But as I understand it it wasn't that it was replaced by Sense 2.5 but was created for phones that weren't as powerful. It didn't need quite as much graphical power to operate it and gave phones like the Touch Viva a nicer interface that looked a lot like the nicer Sense interface.
I spend quite a lot of time trying out different custom ROMs on my Viva so when I decided to upgrade my phone to the TP2 I had already scouted out the ROMs to some degree and had download a few to try out.
I too liked the finger friendly menus of Windows Mobile 6.5.x of the ROMs that I had been using on my Viva and knew that I wouldn't keep the OEM WM 6.1 on my TP2 any longer than I had to.
I went through a couple of custom ROMs for the TP2 before trying out the Simplicity ROM. It seems to still have the look and feel of an OEM style ROM without all of the bloat that comes with them, but this is only my opinion. You'll need to try out a few of them to see which one you like.
Good luck.
Dear All,
After I started this thread, a couple of noobs actually pm’d me to ask about my progress. They said they were too embarrassed to post their noob questions directly on my thread. Since I know the feeling, I will post a quick recap of what I did and where they can find the relevant information on xdadev.
First of all, before I began, I made sure I:
1) had my rhodium connected to my PC via Windows Mobile Device Manager (for XP users it would be Microsoft ActiveSync);
2) knew how to enter bootloader mode on my rhodium;
3) knew how to hard reset my rhodium;
4) had a backup copy of the latest official rom release from T-Mobile, just in case.
At this point I chose a custom rom from one of the many talented chefs on xdadev. My choice is the simple and gorgeous “Reference”, that NRGZ28 has created for htc rhodium. The full file name is:
Energy.RHODIUM.28244.Sense2.5.Reference.Nov.13.7z
And it can be found on the chef’s original thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=562773
STEP 1:
I downloaded and installed the ‘Hard-SPL’ package from the following thread (after I read the instructions):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550131
This tweak allowed my rhodium to 'accept' custom roms.
STEP 2 (NOT NECESSARY, BUT I DID IT BECAUSE MY ROM HAD BEEN FLASHED A FEW TIMES BEFORE):
I downloaded and ran Task 29 from the following thread (after I read the instructions):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=649191
This tool formatted the internal memory of my rhodium to remove any trace of previous roms.
At the end of the process, I was quick to put my rhodium in bootloader mode and proceed with STEP 3 below. However, if you allow the device to reboot, it will be stuck on the splash screen because task 29 has wiped the rom partition clean. It’s totally normal, so don’t freak out. All you have to do is yank the battery, restart the device in bootloader mode, and proceed with STEP 3.
STEP 3:
I ran the installer from my custom rom of choice. At the end of the process, I yanked the battery and hard reset the device. Then I repeated the operation one more time. It’s recommended to hard reset a couple of times after flashing a new rom. So what’s the point of waiting through the first run and customization screens twice just to hard reset?
If your chef doesn't provide specific installation instructions, you can read mskip's flashing guide for noobs:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550540
The whole process ran smoothly and I’ve been enjoying my new rom for a few days now.
Next mission: get rid of that awful T-mobile splash screen at startup…
Peace-out
Thanks for posting your experience here for others.
But a couple comments:
Task29 is supposed to stop on the splash screen. Once it does, you hold the volume down button, while pressing and releasing the soft reset button with the stylus (under the battery cover). It says this in the Task29 instructions.
I usually do a hard reset after flashing the new ROM. Personally I only hard reset once. I think (not sure) its just to make sure that any previous data has been cleared. Pressing the soft reset button with the stylus does the same as pulling the battery, but to me a bit easier. And I've seen it cautioned here that the soft reset button is safer than pulling the battery.
Soft reset is less volatile on the flash memory. Always soft reset when possible. There is no need to hard reset if you perform a task29. Hard reset pretty much does the same thing. You only need to do EITHER a task29 OR a hard reset for best performance. Also, you only need to do a single hard reset if that's the route you choose. Doing two of them is a bit extreme.
Everybody thanks for your feedback!
I will correct the procedure accordingly should I need to flash the rom again in the future.
My experience is that the process itself is very simple; what makes it confusing is that the info is scattered all over the place, and sometimes there's too much unnecessary detail to sort through.
One way experienced xdadev contributors could make life easier for us mere mortals would be to state in more simple terms which devices their tool/rom is compatible with and how to check that you have the latest version. It took me a while to figure out, for example, which HSPL package was compatible with my rhodium and whether I had the latest release.
Anyway, thanks as usual for your gr8 work
There is only one Hard SPL tool. It's the only one in the Rhodium sub-forum. It's also the second thread in the ROM development area. Even if you were still confused in getting to that thread, the instructions in the first post are laid out clearly, and step-by-step. I don't get what was so confusing. It took me all of 3 hours to get my device set up the first time I began flashing ROMs.

Do you even know what task29 does? It formats your internal memory, meaning it erases the ROM image. Don't use that RUU file. Just drop the NBH file into a folder with any other RUU and it will work exactly the same without destroying all of your data.

The confusion arose from the fact that i wasnt sure whether the posts were up-to-date. When you're dealing with a phone that's been around for over two years, you gotta at least acknowledge the issue. I was concerned that an earlier version of hspl would not accept more recent custom roms.
Again, I only started the process once I was positive I had the latest compatible tools/rom, and I was done in less than one hour.
Thank you for all your input.

[Q] Still on Froyo. Want to change!

Hello,
Why posting a subject that is probably already posted?
I know that this subject has been dealt with many times before, but I read a lot in the forum and I still don't know really how to make the upgrad.
Causes :
- I'm frensh so it's more difficult to me to understand and there is no such good websites in frensh langage unfortunatly.
- Also, I am a NEWBIE, so when I read HGY or FGTR, BGT, PMOO... I don't get it at all. The tutorials are full of these words-sentence, abreviations. When it's one or two i can make it, but when all the tutos are full of it, it's become hard.
- An other point is that I don't have internet connexion in my phone. I could connect it with some Wifi but difficultly. I don't know if it's really important by the way, but in many tutos, they said to take things from the google store. Can I just download all the things I need in my computer?
Now the Question :
How to move on a better version of Android?
I don't want to have the latest versions, I just want a GingerBread 2.3 version with a stable rom.
Caracteristics :
Android version : 2.2
Kernel version: 2.6.32.15
Build number: 2.22.75.3
Software number: 2.22.75.3
I bought my HTC Desire 1 year ago from a friend, I think that it's rooted because when I turn it on, I have these screens: Joker - Why So Serious? (S-OFF AlphaRev)=> Orange => My desk finally
Thank you very much for your help!
Yeah I think you're rooted too but we gotta see if you have a recovery installed or not to do that just turn off your phone then hold vol down + power button and then the bootloader will come. In there your phone well only work with vol up/down button and the power button so with them navigate through the menu and find "recovery" and press the pretty button to activate it. Wait for the recovery page to come if there is a recovery installed you will see it then and if not, there will be a picture trying to address the fact that there's no recovery installed on your device. If there's a recovery regardless of it version, just navigate through the android development section and download one (the how is written there but most of them work like this: download the ROM .zip file> put it in the sd card> go to recovery mode> find the option which address wiping or formatting the system partition, the bootanimation and the cache partition and format them> then find the wipe dalvik cache option and wipe it> now find the option which address installing zip from sd card> explore your sd card and select the .zip file and flash it then reboot and you're good to go)
By the way you must (in the same way).flash the latest radio first (before flashing the ROM I forgot that cuz you just have to do it once till its updated again which will never be cuz desire is outdated device for HTC)
Hope I could help, any question feel free to ask, I will respond add soon as I see it.

By installing a rom for exemple like MildWild based on Oxygen 2.3.2 directly on my phone with my Froyo and my kernel unupgraded. Will I upgrade my android and kernel and every thing related?
Or should i upgrade each thnig alone?
I'm a Newbie and I know it

No, greatly advanced users flash kernels separately themselves too but there's a kernel in each and every ROM you flash to your phone, btw you have a recovery installed or not?
Sent from my HTC Desire with BCM 3.7U0 ICS ROM using Tapatalk
I sent you an private message where I explain much things
I have done what you told me and I found the recovery.
So I must now begin by flashing the radio and after I can install the rom?
To keep my contacts and my messages, settings... Should I do something precisely or it's saved?
Do you have any other things you would like to change besides your android version? Like the small internal memory for instance? Also what kind of android would you like? Something purest as possible, one with HTC Sense, or MIUI(look at screenshots in development section)?

Contacts are automatically saved if you saved them on your google account. And for saving messages I recommend SMS Backup + from the market.

I was really scared the first time I got my phone, I didn't want to crush it with these upgrades, and I waited for official upgrades. But now when I'm sure it will never happen, I want to change it myself.
Firstly, I want to move to a better version of android, because I think that it's the same way we change a Windows XP to a Windows Seven. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Otherwise, I don't know what's the better for my phone. But I just want it to be fast and pretty, with the minimum of bugs possible. And I'm ok to change my HTC Sence. I can have an upgrade version of Sense after (3.0 or 4.0) if there is no big problems and if it's also fast. But now a pure android version or a MIUI is ok.
Is there different procedures for every one of these roms?
I didn't understand what the point in having a small internal memory :s
What I meant by the small internal memory is that, by default you have like 140MB for applications. But this can be increased easily to around 280MB. I would be happy to guide you through the process. Also if you want a more pure android, I would recommend Cyanongemod 7.2(latest release candidate, I can help you with this too). I found this ROM to be very customizable, and rock solid. It's also faster then a Sense ROM. Though you might find that things will look a little different, then they do in Sense.

I would love to increase my internal memory of course!
I will also download the Cyanongemod 7.2. Should I partition my SD card for this rom? By the way my SD Card memory is 2Go :/

No not really. I mean yes you could if you really need the extra space, but it will lower performance. I say you should cross one bridge at a time.
Ok then first of all save all your data, then go into recovery and do a backup! This is very important because if something goes wrong, you can get everything back the way it was.
Next go to this site: http://alpharev.nl/ read it carefully before starting with it. If you got any questions then ask. It is very important that before you do something you understand what are you doing and why.
In the meantime dowload the following:

I'am aware of the dangers. Thanks!
I will save my data and do the backup.
I have downloaded the files you gave me.
What's next?
Well first you make a backup in recovery. After that copy PB99IMG_cm7r2.zip to your the root of your sdcard and rename it to PB99IMG.zip. Copy the other files as well. Then start the phone in hboot mode(power + back). You should see some installation being done.
After this enter to recovery. Select wipe data/factory reset(or the name is very similar. Then go to advanced->wipe dalvik cache(some recoveries have it in a different location). Now your phone should be clean of everything. It's time to install the new ROM.
Select install zip from sdcard, and go to the location you put the zip file to(it's named something like update-...). Wait for it to install, then do the same with the gapps zip.
After your done, you can reboot your phone. The first boot might take longer(in some cases even 15-20 mins, though this never happened to me). And there you go, you should have gingerbread. Let me know how it went.(If there are any problems don't panic, it's most likely fixable)
best for you is that someone else made all ..
