dial-up connection does not work - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Hi everybody,
I am trying to setup a simple DUN connection to internet provider in Netherlands
This is a sort of open public network.
My PPC is HTC Touch Pro2
OS: WinMob 6.5 pro
ROM 1.88.404.3 (67102) NLD
I have made the following configuration:
My ISP
Name = KPN DirectInternet
Modem = Mobile Modem
Telefoonnummer = +31676012321
User name = kpn
Password = is not needed
TCP/IP:
Use server-assigned IP-address = yes
Use SLIP = no
Use soft-compression = yes
Use IP-header compression = yes
SERVERS:
Use server-assigned IP-address = yes
The PPC starts to make connection, but after several seconds I get an error message:
“Due to unknown reason cannot make connection. If this problem remains, you have to reset your mobile apparatus to factory default …”
I have made the hard reset, but the problem remains.
I have called technical support of HTC.
They tried to setup the same connection on their Pro2 and got exactly the same error.
So, it was it least clear that this is not a specific problem of my telephone.
Finally HTC told that they have little knowledge about dial-up connections and cannot help me.
They also told that Mobile Windows does not create a modem log files.
So it is not possible to trace what exactly the problem is.
Can anyone help, please?
Is any way there to create a modem log file ?
Has anyone the same problem?
Thank you very much in advance !

8525 WM6 MMS solution

If after upgrading your 8525 to a cooked version of Windows Mobile 6, you discover that you cannot send or receive any MMS' (even after hunting down the WAP & MMS setting for cingular/AT&T) Run this cab on your device. (install to Main memory)

NOTE: I notice that it changed the appearance of several setting's screens in regards to the Connections tab.
It worked for me. It might also work for other providers, Let me know...
Please include in your response:
-Manufacture and type
-Model No.
-Rom Version
Example:
Cingular 8525
HERM100

Running a Cingular 8525/Herm100 on Black 2.0. On all WM6 ROM's I have been able to send and receive, it just gives me an 'error synchronizing' message whenever I try and do it manually. Everything eventually goes where it is supposed to though.
Was hoping this would fix that, but still works the same.
using wm6 black 2 on telstra australia with latest radio. worked on all accounts including lvsms.
so no "problem" here (once i got the settings and manually entered them, tweaked around and learned the hard way with hours of work).
My 8525 also works perfect sending and recieving MMS I have entered the Server settings so many times now i know them by heart sometimes i do have to play with the settings either changinf the port number from 80 to 8080 and changing it to use the internet or My ISP to send them.
I too suffered from the Sync Error message and could not get MMS to work. But I ran the CAB posted at the top of this thread and it now works. I tried everything and every setting that was mentioned, I tried every cab file and every fix I could find. (I know the settings by heart) Now for the big new, once I ran the cab the only thing that I could see that it changed was the last setting of kb's. Before the cab and what everyone said to set it at was 300 but after the cab it is now set at 600. I don't know if this is the change that fixed everything or not but I can tell you that now my MMS does work on my Cingular 8525 running the latest LVSW/26.
can someone please help with 3 Australia MMS settings.
Ive entered them all in, changed the user agent for arcsoft MMS software in the registry and i still cant get them to send or recieve with success & i get the error sync message too.
can anyone help me find the missing link???

Black 2.0
FWIW, I discovered I was having a problem with sending MMS today. I upgraded to Black 2.0 a couple of weeks ago, but I don't typically use MMS, and so I never discovered this problem before. I found this thread thru Google, and dowloaded the cabfile noted at the top. But I didn't install it. Instead, I took some hints from the name.
On my phone, I had already set up two non-proxied ISP accounts on my 8525 ... wap.cingular and isp.cingular. Of course, I also have the MediaNet Account that uses the proxy. I typically have my phone parked on the ISP account, and that's where I was having this problem.
Looking at the name of this cabfile, I decided to try the MediaNet (proxy) Account next. That wouldn't work either, failing continuously. So then I set my phone to use the wap.cingular (no proxy) account, and bingo, it worked.
As Owycx has noted in the second post (above), I DID get the "Error Synchronizing" message, but this message quickly disappeared and the MMS Message was sent out pronto.
So to those (Cingular) users who might be having this problem, you might be able to fix it without installing the cab ... just make sure you're using the following "Connections" settings:
Code:
Name: [whatever you like]
Modem: [B][U]Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)[/U][/B]

Also what i have found that helps is go to settings> connetions> connections> advanced> select networks> make sure that the bottom matches the top setting that way it wont be switching networks for different things.
My MMS server is as follows.
Server name:
Cingular MMS
Gateway:
wireless.cingular.com
Port number:
8080
Server Address:
mmsc.cingular.com
Connect via:
My Isp(or what ever you set the name as in your connections)
Sending Size limite:
300K
Wap version:
WAP 2.0
these settings ALWAYS work for me. I never use the proxy settings that come with the cab for cingular for media net. even though i guess i loose some size of the message i can send from 600K to 300K its no biggy to me.

Windows Mobile 6 and Linux Tethering

Short and simple... is there a way to use the Internet Sharing program on WM6 to share my Cingular 3g connection with my Linux OS (Ubuntu 7.04)? preciate it!
i'm going to follow this thread..
btw, the ubuntu forums are amazing, someone on there might know! http://ubuntuforums.org/
i use ubuntu on my main general use laptop.. few other distros around the house.

Technically speaking, short and simple - yes. But in reality that depends on how friendly you are with Linux.
RNDIS is supported on Linux these days. Here is an interesting alternative approach if compiling kernels is above your head - install VMware and tether with "host only" networking. Good luck.
Are they (WM6 and Linux) able to syncronise yet?
I could never get SynCE working, nor find instructions on how to get it working either. Even tried a VMWare Windows client, but because Linux wouldn't recognise the WM5/6 at the USB driver level, then the VMWare session couldn't either.
That was about 12 mths ago though ... does/can it work now?
Not to Hi-Jack the thread but I would also like to do this on OS X.
Unix/Linux- Gotta be a Script out there?
I had a great Modem Script that shared my HSDPA connection over WM5 and OS X but it dosent work with XDA Live 2.0 WM6...

On OSX make sure your device has the "Network Access Point" bluetooth profile and tether by using bluetooth PAN. You'll need to use the internet sharing app in the phone before it will work.
I'm not sure how to get it working over USB, but bluetooth is faster the the edge connection I get with the phone so I never tried.
Thanks for your reply. I will give it a go tomorrow!

I am using VMWare 6.0 Beta with WinXP Pro as guest in Fedora Core 6 host. I can use ActiveSync to synchronize my Hermes and Outlook with no problems at all. Strange that yours doesn't work. :-o
@roostar
I typed up a long guide on how to do this, but the somehow lost it(I love testing betas, but there are reasons they are beta[my browser I'm talking about])
Basically, You need a new modem script which I have uploaded for you here
There are many guides on how to do this, here is one:
Here are the steps I followed to tether my 8525 to my PowerBook G4. Should work for any Mac w/ Bluetooth.
Download the HTC TyTN modem script from: http://www.box.net/public/zxjp6ummyz
Drag the “HTC TyTN” script to your Hard Drive’s “Library/Modem Scripts”
On your 8525, click “Start/Settings/Connection/Bluetooth.” Check both “Turn on Bluetooth” and “Make this device discoverable to other devices.”
Use your Mac to establish a new Bluetooth connection with the 8525. If the Bluetooth Icon is in your top right toolbar, scroll down to “Set Up Bluetooth Device…”
Check “Any Device” (My Mac did not recognize my 8525 as a Mobile phone and calls it “Pocket PC”).
Check “Pocket PC” and “Continue.”
Follow the instructions for entering the Passkey on the 8525 and hit “next”. In Bluetooth Setup, make sure to select your device for use to connect to the internet.
Now fill in the Bluetooth settings on the Mac:
Sevice Provider: Any name you want, i.e “Cingular”
Account Name: [email protected] (ALL CAPS)
Password: CINGULAR1 (ALL CAPS)
Telephone: *99#
Check PPP Options and make sure “Use TCP header compression” is NOT checked.
Click the blue “Bluetooth Modem” bar and for the Modem’s drop down menu and check “HTC TyTN.”
On the 8525 go to Start/Programs/Wireless Modem.” Change the “Connection Type” from USB to Bluetooth. On the right soft key, hit “Menu/Start.”
Now you are ready to connect. Open “Internet Connect” go to “Bluetooth” and click “Connect.”
Everytime you want to tether the 8525 to the Mac, you will have to go to “Wireless Modem” first and turn it on before connecting with “Internet Connect.”

There are many, many, many guides on how to do this. If what I have given you is not enough, then do some googling. Google is your friend. It may take a minute or two to find exactly what you want, but if someone else has even had the same problem as you, you will find it. Here is another guide for you.
These are all for Cingular, excuse me At&T... but if you have another carrier, you can find the settings here at Ross Barkman's homepage. he maintains a list of u/p for various carriers(international) and has done more for one's ability to connect to the internet using bluetooth through your phone's nternet connection. It is a great resource.
Everything I have given you should at least get well on your way, if not all the way there. It works well(better when I use it where they have 3g, in my area[sw. florida] it will be installed later this year ).
Hope this helps.

About to bump a really old thread:
As of today, I have USB tethering working with Internet Sharing and WM6. You have to use the usb-rndis-lite driver from the synce project and apply a patch to it to get it to recognize the hermes in Internet sharing mode. For me I prefer USB tether since I don't run my battery dead as quickly without BT on. In any case, if anyone's interested in the patch I'd ask on the linux-usb-devel mailing list or check the archives there. Hopefully it'll be in the kernel sometime... if it ever makes it all you'll have to do to get your hermes to work is plug it in.
Ok...found the magic bullet for anyone that is still looking to do this. I took this from pdaphonehome LINK
I now have my 8925 tilt working as a cellular modem for my laptop running Ubuntu 7.10. This solution actually works really well...if anyone has trouble hit me up I can get you through it.
----Quoted----
After many hours of tinkering, I got USB tethering with wvdial.
First, start the Wmodem program on the Tilt and select USB. Then click Menu-->Start
On the command line type: /sbin/modprobe ipaq vendor=0x0bb4 product=0x00cf
Now plug in your USB cable
If you type dmesg you should see that ttyUSB0 is now initialized
Create a /etc/wvdial.conf with the following:
[Dialer Defaults]
Modem = /dev/ttyUSB0
ISDN = off
Modem Type = Analog Modem
Baud = 460800
Init = ATZ
Init2 = ATZ+CGDCONT=1,"IP","ISP.CINGULAR"
Init3 =
Init4 =
Init5 =
Init6 =
Init7 =
Init8 =
Init9 =
Phone = *99#
Phone1 =
Phone2 =
Phone3 =
Phone4 =
Dial Prefix =
Dial Attempts = 1
Dial Command = ATDT
#Ask Password = on
Password = CINGULAR1
Username = [email protected]
Auto Reconnect = off
Abort on Busy = off
Carrier Check = on
Check Def Route = on
Abort on No Dialtone = on
Stupid Mode = on
Idle Seconds = 0
Auto DNS = on
Lastly create a file called /etc/ppp/peers/wvdial containing the 2 lines:
lcp-echo-failure 0
lcp-echo-interval 0
Now at a command prompt type wvdial
You should see it connect and get an IP address
You can put the modprobe statement in /etc/rc.local
Hope this helps... it works for me (I am posting this via the USB tether right now)
Also, can an admin change this thread name and add a SOLVED to it?
Regards,
SC
You can accomplish this relatively easy by using a bluetooth dongle. I think this would work with MAC too. With Bluetooth its using standard bluetooth internet sharing/networking technology, whereas Activesync is a bit more Microsoft-centric.
Google around the ubuntu forums for some tips. There are some threads out there with this topic. I was successful at it, but unfortunatley I don't remember the exact steps. I"ll poke around my laptop later and see if I can't dig up the script i created.
Plugging the bluetooth dongle in every time became a PITA and a drain on my phone's battery so i just switch over to my windows partition if I really need some 3G action.
I also made it work with a Windows VM running under Virtual BOX in Ubuntu. Again, not as elegant, but it worked.
Good luck.
Two Way Street?
Is there any way of reversing this? For instance, using the Ubuntu box's internet to pass through on to the WM device (Internet-->Ubuntu-->WM). I currently have an IP address via rndis (169.254.2.2) on my Ubuntu for my WM device, but am uncertain how to get the packets to "jump" to my eth1 device. Any help would be appreciated.
I can't get it to phone home. I get the following error when I... "wvdial".

How to use a Trinity, but using TyTN settings for your Service Provider

Hi all
I use a Trinity WM6 (bepe's rom) and I would like to use the WAP Portal of my Service Provider (Orange Switzerland). I can access the portal, but it's only a text based browsing. All WM5 Orange branded phones or Nokia phones can access the portal with picutres, nice colors and watch Live TV.
As my Trinity is not Orange branded (they don't even sell it here in Switzerland) I can't access the colored portal and can't watch TV
I tried changing some registry settings like:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Internet Settings\ 5.0\ User Agent\Default -> Wert: Mozilla/4.0
and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Internet Settings\ 5.0\ User Agent\Post Platform -> PPC; 240x320; SPV M3100; OpVer 12.16.5.111
As you can imagine, Orange ignores these settings and still recognizes, that I use a Trinity and not a SPV M3100 (HTC TyTN).
Does somebody knows, what I could do to "pretend" that I'm surfing on their WAP Portal with a SPV M3100?
Any help and hint is very appreciated!
Cheers
Jarvis
I <think> it is something to do with a special configuration file within the Orange ROMs. Updating the ROM removes this file, so preventing access to OW
There have been a lot of posts here and on Modaco about trying to access Orange World (the 'enhanced' WAP site), but I'm not sure if anyone found the fix.

Hi Neil
I don't know if this might be the reason. All Nokia and SE phones (unbranded) can access the enhanced wap portal. On an older WM5 version you could do the registry change and that worked out to access OW.
I've had better luck in
HKLM\Security\Internet Explorer\User Agent
The key to change is Custom
Try using some values from other similar devices on your network

VPA c GPS with Vodafone live! browser.dll Probs

Hello trinity-users!
I've tried to get my "VPA compact GPS" with WM6 working for "Vodafone live!" a lot of times.
I used differnet User-Agent-Strings like:
Vodafone/1.0./HTC_MERCURY/2.04.162.1/Mozilla/4.0
Vodafone/1.0/HTC_v1510/1.23.163.2/Mozilla/4.0
and I tried a modiefied browser.dll from a Vodafone branded Palm 750v and the browser.dlls from this Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=305008
Only with the edited browser.dll for palm 750v I get into the Vodafone live! portal, but It won't load correctly and there are no HSDPA-contents shown! The User-Agent-Strings don't really change something...
I want to get this $h*t running on my trinity. I hope someone can help me...
Greets Brianius
My Device:
VPA compact GPS (Trinity of Vodafone Germany)
bepes WM6 ROM GER 0.79 light VC
Hi Brianius,
You were not clear on which browser.dll file you are using. Did you simply download one of the attached files in the mentioned thread, or did you extract the file from your rom, make the adjustments, and then overwrite the file on your phone?
It would be useful if browsed to http://www.useragentstring.com/ on your trinity and pasted the value for "Your User Agent String:" in this thread...
Hi jamesbest, thanks for your answer!
I used an edited one from a german board. They used one of ZAKv3 Image and changed the User Agent String to the Palm 750v.
If I take this browser.dll : Palm750/v000 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile %d.%d)
Today I deleted the UAS from the dll and now I can change it in the registry.
But always only black letters without pictures on Vodafone live!
Maybe I should use bepes 0.79 browser.dll, but I don't know to extract it from the Windows.nb file.
My current UAS: Vodafone/1.0./HTC_MERCURY/2.04.162.1/Mozilla/4.0
edit: I tried other edited browser.dlls from schaps and AKUs ROMs
I think there are two problems from your response. 1) you may be using an incompatible browser.dll file. 2) the user agent string is not being recognised by vodafone's site.
1)
So if I have understood correctly, you are using a browser.dll file you downloaded from a website - and this file may not correspond to the one that originally came with your rom? I would recommend, downloading the rom you have currently installed on your phone and editing that browser.dll file. I dont know if there is a new easier way to get at the file, but I do the following:
download nbhextract: here
download imgfs_tools_182: here
download the rom you currently have flashed to your phone
locate the file RUU_signed.nbh (or similarly named - its the biggest file)
"nbhextract RUU_signed.nbh" - creates an OS.nb file (might be named slightly differently)
"nbsplit -hermes OS.nb" - creates OS.nb.extra and OS.nbh.payload. Since this is the trinity forum I have used the -hermes option. I am not sure which flag to use for Palm750v. An appropriate search of the Palm section might help here...
"ImgFsFromNb OS.nb.payload imgfs.bin" - creates imgfs.bin
"ImgfsToDump imgfs.bin" - extracts rom files to dump directory
Within the dump directory should be another directory called "browser.dll". In this directory will be the browser.dll file.
Then you can modify the browser.dll file as described here, and copy it back to your phone. I find the easiest way to copy the file over is to make a CAB installer that will copy and overwrite the file to your \Windows directory (using wince cab manager or a similar program). I dont think you can simply copy the file using activesync.
2)
Once you have a working browser.dll file, you may want to try different user-agent strings. It is best to change the UA string to a simulate a phone model that can definitely access vodafone life (see vodafone's website for a list of supported phones). On my trinity I use the Nokia 6233 UA string. I have made a cab of this file and attached it to this thread. To test each UA string is correct, go to http://www.useragentstring.com/ and double-check the string appears as it should.
THX!!!
Thanks a lot jamesbest!
I will try it today and give response if it works!
My solution
Hello brianius and all other users.
I had the same problem for a long time, esp. with WM6.
So here is my solution:
You need a regeditor.
Go to :
HKLM/Security/Internet Explorer/User Agent
there you have to delete everything, instead of the entry CustomBase.
The Data for it have to be: Vodafone/1.0/HTC_MERCURY/2.04.162.1
With these settings almost everything is working fine for me.
Working stuff:
- Live! Portal, coulored, with pictures
- Live Streams aka LiveTV
Not working
- Downloading music, esp. ringtones
So for further questions, please ask me.
I try to help you.
If you will find a better User Agent string, esp. one with ringtone support. Please post it here
Hey, I had a lot of things to do, but today I have handled to get the browser.dll from bepes ROM.
So I overwrote the User Agent String apart from the "%s" of the dll by 00s and now I can change the UAS in the registry "HKLM/Security/Internet Explorer/User Agent/Custom".
With the "Vodafone/1.0./HTC_MERCURY/2.04.162.1/Mozilla/4.0"String Vodafone live doesn't work.
I want to have Vodafone live with HSDPA-content like "broadband Mobile TV".
Does anybody know a UAS (by Vodafone!!!) of a HSDPA enabled phone?
"Vodafone/1.0./<Phone>/<Version>/Mozilla/4.0"
I wonder why the original String by Vodafone of the Trinity, doesn't work with my WM6 ROM! How they can distinguish between the ROMS?
The original UAS: "Vodafone/1.0/HTC_v1510/1.23.163.2" -> I get only black letters with WM6 by bepe!
Does anybody have an idea?
Thanks a lot!
PS: Sorry posted this first in the wrong Thread... =)
edit: I'm trying with pieplus, now... -> Doesn't change the UAS!
edit2: Interesting site: http://www.seehowitruns.org/pages/javascript_properties.php?choice=604&prop=2
WORKS!!!
YEEEHAAAA!!!
This String: "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 6.8) Vodafone/1.0/HTC_v1510/1.23.164.7" WORKS!!!
I've putted it into the Registry (HKLM/Securitiy/InternetExplorer/User Agent/Custom) and Vodafone live is coloured!!!
But there is still no HSDPA content. Only normal UMTS mobiletv! Maybe I'll find a better String....
@arndti: Ringtones are working,too!
Now I have only to fix my Stremplayer, which gives an errormessage "The file "rtsp://195.179.[...]" cannot be opened. Maybe because of an security certificate or one of its components couldn't be started...try to reinstall" ~translated from ger
BIG Thanks to jamesbest and arndti!!!
This string works almost fine for me.
I don't know what the HSDPA-content should be, i even never heared of it.
For me mobile tv is working, after I have changend the conection of the streaming player to Vodafone Live!.
But still I could not download any ringtones.
The VPA compact V is HSDPA enabled by Vodafone, so I will try this String later:
"Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.6) Vodafone/1.0/HTC_Kaiser/1.56.165.5" -> works!

Yes, my problem was that TCPMP has changed the file associations and i deinstalled tcpmp. So there was a error message.
Now I changed to Stream Player and if I klick on a MobileTV link the Streamingplayer starts, but nothing happens... If I try to connect manually, the message: "Verbindung fehlgeschlagen" (~connection error) apperas!
edit: The Straming Player works now, but it stops buffering at 94%...
edit2: I've done all told in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1904190
...but still the Streaming Player stops at: 94-97%!
Okay now I played a bit in the registry strings: "HKLM/Software/HTC/Stream/..." and got it loading 100% now , but no video appears and after 1 sec Streaming Player crashes.
Can somebody help me?
I have checked the following things:
---------------------------------------
- installed the cab of this thread.
- overwritten StreamingPlayer-files in "/windows" with that from bepes 0.79 ROM (full)
- searched for missing dlls -> I already had all dlls.
- changed the User Agent String in "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings\5.0\User Agent\" to the same like IE has. *
- tryed Streamingplayer.exe from this therad
- ...
---------------------------------------
*my String: "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 6.8) Vodafone/1.0/HTC_v1510/1.23.164.7"
I'm still trying to get it working by changing registry strings of StreamingPlayer...
Hope somebody has an idea...
--------------> OKAY: Fixed the Streaming Player (old Theme but works!) =)
Big Thanks for all your help!!!

Telstra WM6.1 Rom?

Hey Folks,
Can Anyone who can cook up a rom please make a Telstra Branded one? one that already has modded registry so we can view foxtel, The Proxy Manager software and all the stuff the other telstra roms have? I think us Aussie Telstra Users would highly appreciate it!
Thanks!
you can set all those things up yourself you know!
And i doubt we should expect a 6.1 telstra/imate rom again considering they dropped the phone before christmas.
ok .. then why dont you post all the reg settings / mods etc?
well mine works cause i hunted down the solutions myself and got them, like you should do instead of expecting someone else to do it for you!
its really not that hard! the vid stuff i got from whirlpool.
Search and ye shall find
Attached is a zip file containing the entire telstra ext-rom, this should contain any of the cabs you need.

Some rom's do support telstra, eg crc's 6.1.
You can "add" the telstra 3g bands manually however to any rom i believe, as I do, eg on tnt's rom I needed to add.
You then need to use the telstra proxy to access the sites etc(my place and such), BUT depending on what you want to do you may need to switch it on/off, very easy to do anyway.
Search for telstra 3g and you will find all info, otherwise use this: Telstra settings for 3g

Hi all, been down the same road with 3g Telstra.
There is a fix to set up all settings etc fairly easy when flashing with wm6.
1. do your flash...
2. need to edit the bands to allow our phone to use Telstra's frequencys
(see below)
3. run Telstra's own setup cab that they use in the original imate ext_rom
4. just go into settings/phone/band...select "auto" on network type
select "GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(850)"
thats about it
Works for me everytime I've flashed, get wap when its out of range for 3g and get telstra internet 3g every other time
E=Edge average, 3g=Umts=H on connections
notes:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Telstra "odd" bands (must do some reg exports for next time, and to share), use a reg editor like resco's etc
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
(taken from XDA site) if anyone else needs them, This Registry patch works for the Hermes.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\PhoneSetting\BandT ype]
"ItemCount"=dword:00000006
"ItemName1"="Auto"
"ItemName2"="GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(2100)"
"ItemName3"="GSM(1900+850)+UMTS(1900+850)"
"ItemName4"="UMTS(2100+800)"
"ItemName5"="GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(2100+850)"
"ItemName6"="GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(850)"
"ItemValue1"=dword:00000000
"ItemValue2"=dword:00000001
"ItemValue3"=dword:00000002
"ItemValue4"=dword:00000003
"ItemValue5"=dword:00000004
"ItemValue6"=dword:00000005
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\UMTS\BandSelection]
"Band"=dword:00000005
You really just need to add ItemName5 and 6, and ItemValue5 and 6, and change the ItemCount from 4 to 6 (as you added two options) using your favorite Registry Editor.
Do a soft reboot of the phone. Now you can select the NextG option GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(850)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. copy the telstra cab onto your phone then run, this sets up the Telstra Wap and Teletra Internet connection, as well as the proxy manager.
It does load some other junk onto the system like telstra bussiness etc , but this is easy to delete or move to another start menu group.
sometimes when setting up email accounts and such you may have to fiddle with the programmes "connect with " network setting and point it to :telstra internet or as in my case use "work" connection.
hope this helps

you only need the reg fix (if not already enabled) then choose the band then load in the gprs/3g modem settings and the proxy.
that telstra cab loads a tsk and sets the home page to the old wap site, the proxy manager is kind of cute if you are too lazy to load the proxy back in although the only thing you need the proxy for is to use whereis and some of the other crap telstra services.
The proxy will just slow down msn and general internet use.

RE:
hey guys, sorry I haven't replied until now, I've been fairly busy with work and the family.
OK Lets say I wanted to cook up a rom myself. Where can I find a clean wm6.1 rom and a kitchen to cook it in? I would have already probably cooked up a rom myself by now but it's hard to find a nice clean ROM and kitchen to use.

What directory in the phone do you copy it to? Is it supposed to recognise it straight away or do you have to execute the file in the phone once you've copied it over??
