I tried installing Max manila on my TP2, but I must have used the wrong version. When the phone boots, it gets stuck at the "Touch here to launch HTC Sense" prompt.
I can get into the programs menu, but not into Settings. How can I uninstall this CAB if I can't get into Settings?
Tried looking at the original thread, but at 96 pages, the signal-to-noise ratio is just too low, and you can't find anything! Hence this new thread.
I really don't want to have to do a hard-reset!
if it is getting stuck at starting manilla you should still be able to click on the windows start button where you can get into the settings/home sections. From here untick sense and restart the device so it starts properly without starting sense. Remove manmanilla from remove programs option and then reinstall the working version.
Alternatively reflash your rom.

In WM6.5, there is no settings entry on the start menu. There must be a series of steps for deleting files and changing registry sessions that could be done manually if only one knew how.
There is a settings shortcut in WM 6.5, however in some roms the chefs have this shortcut pointing to the manila settings tab instead of WM settings dir. Obviously if manila won't load then this shortcut won't work for you anyway. Unfortunately I have no idea how to get that settings shortcut back on the start menu and working for you :/ You could use Total Commander to manually delete all of the files altered by MaxManila and then soft reset - your phone will then restore the rom's original files. There are a lot of files in MaxManila though, so it might take a while to hunt them all down. Use aiCabExplorer to open MaxManila's cab file and get the names of all the files to delete.

I tried renaming all the files and registry keys obviously associated with MaxManila, with no luck. I don't know how the files in the CAB get installed, but I searched for half a dozen of them and they were nowhere to be found.

TC for the registry, Resco for the files, but I have it set to show all types.
Well I've just checked - I can see and delete all of the MaxManila files in my windows dir except the homeservice.dll using TC. Don't know what else to suggest; there must be a way to get back the settings shortcut (?)
To get settings, change registry as shown:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo]
"HideSettings"=dword:00000000

There are alot of "guides" to getting Touchflo on your Hermes. All of them not too easy to follow. problems / bugfixes are hard to find info on i.e. solve.
Please can someone put together a comprehensive easy to follow guide?
Ta...
download this cab and install.
go to file explorer and the go to my device page.
now open program files.
now open FTouchFlo file.
Cut FTouchFlo (NOT FTouchFlo Config File).
Back up to dir my device and open windows dir.
now open startup file.
now paste FTouchFlo File here.
Now copy FtouchFlo File and go back to the file you cut FTouchFlo from
and paste a shortcut there.
once this is done open config file and adjust the delay like you want to.
once this is done soft reset and enjoy touch flo scrolling only.
cube i am still working on but no luck at this time.
I followed your instructions to the letter on my Tytn Hermes200, and on start up after a SR I get a error. It says...
FTouchFlo Error
Can't read configuration
You said this...
Now copy FtouchFlo File and go back to the file you cut FTouchFlo from
and paste a shortcut there.
I tried placing a Shortcut in the programs FTouch folder AND I also have a COPY of the file in there now, and I get the same error !
You said this...
once this is done open config file and adjust the delay like you want to.
I think this has something to do with it, right? I do not know the setting to change or what value to make it work in the note file. Can you please tell me?

when you edited the config file you probibly saved it as a word file instead of keeping it intact, which would result in that erro
reinstall it and when you go to save the file dont save it as a word file, keep it intact.
Awesome work. Very easy to do and works well. I no longer have to use Pocket CM!
Hi, i tried to use Slither's Cube Launcher with Schaps RC 4.0 Version. This Cube launcher uses FTouchFlo too.
Didn't work, because the Path to AdobeFlashLite doesn't exist in Schaps ROM (But it's inside the ROM)
Reason: No File exists
DownUpApp: /Program Files/Adobe/FlashLite/saplaywm.exe
So I installed Adobe Flash Lite 2.1 as a cab and then it does work, but it only opens the "Cube" which has no function. Buttons do not work and doesn't rotate.
Has somebody tried to use Slither's Cube with Hermes? Does anybody have a working Config file?
I like the app, because i lost my stylus and FTouchFlo is working well, but Cube as addon would be great.
This is a timely thread. I too have tried to install touchflo and got nowhere fast.
So someone coming along and offering simple, bullet proof instructions is a godsend. Thank you sir!
I will try this later; just trying to decide whether to move roms to schaps 4.0 or not. Decisions, decisions...

The only file I saw that was able to be edited was mentioned in the instructions here....
Cut FTouchFlo (NOT FTouchFlo Config File).
So i DID NOT EDIT or move THE CONFIG FILE. I only looked in it after I got the first error as the instructions seem to mention changing the delay responce time.
Am I missing something else here? I am sorry if it is obvious but I am just not seeing it.
Thanks

The movement of the .exe file to the startup folder is obviously so it starts automatically everytime you reset.
This can also be achieved by using MemMaid (add a startup link it's straightforwards in the software) or by creating a shortcut in Resco Explorer. This way you dont need to move the original file yet still get the automatic start.
I like to TouchFlo cab, but it seems to make my HTC Camera Album not function 100%. Am I the only one? So I've kept iContact, as it dosent mess with Camera Almun and I love the way it scrolls.
If I could get TouchFlo to work and not mess with any of my other apps I'd love to keep it.

I have no such a problem, even though I did not even put a HTC Camera Album to be ignored by the fTouchFlo. You can try to edit the fTouchFlo config by adding HTC Camera to the ignored apps list. Let us know the result...
UPDATE!!! Directions = WORKS a TREAT:-D

But this wont be permanent will it? - i.e. I never want any listed at all.
When WM don't see any shortcuts in above folder, then it wont create recent programs list
Disabling recent programs in Start Menu
Does anyone have a registry fix for this. I don't want to loose everything from the Start Menu|Programs folder. I just want to permanently stop recently used programs showing in the start menu.

You will not loose anything if you create a folder (e.g. /Windows/Start Menu/Main) and move all your shortcuts inside 'Main'...

The result of this is that I have unused 'Recent Programs' and 'Programs' items on my Start menu and everytime I install a new program I have to manually move it to the 'Main' folder in order to disable recently used programs showing in the Start Menu.
There must be a more elegant registry solution to this.

Since today, I haven't heard for another way to manage it.
Hope that someone knows for a better solution.
Problem solved. Delete registry key (and all sub keys):HKCU-software- Microsoft - Shell - TaskSwitch.
Then soft reset device immediately, don't even close registry editor before resetting.
Viola!
Doh!
Ok, this only clears the recently used items list. It will repopulate.
Back to the drawing board.
I bit the bullet and purchased ($9.99) WisBar Advance 3. This does the job and has a number of other nice Start Menu related features. Works well with Dutty's Xtreme 2.3 ROM.

I installed the cab of tsowentaskbar6v2 in my HD (original ROM) and now i can't happen to uninstall it. it keeps giving me an error. and even if i try to install any other taskbar over it, there are still some "side effects" left from it. how do i uninstall it completely??? PLS HELP!!
Taskbar cab contain some protected system files, once you installed one of them you should not install others over it.
Solution
Give me the direct link to the cab which you already installed it and now couldn’t remove it, I will extract files and give them back to you then you should manually (using Resco explorer for total commander) move them to windows directory and over write them, after that you can uninstall the cab.
This is the direct link to download the cab file:

Yes you are right.
Uninstall any other cab which modifies task bar
Copy dll files to windows directory
Do soft reset
Uninstall tsowentaskbar6v2.1
I tried doing that.... but no luck. when i try to uninstall 'tsowen taskbar' it just gives me an error: "tsowen taskbar was not completely removed. Do you want to remove it from the list of installed programs?" And even if i press yes, its still there. its just not uninstalling....!!!
I really wanna remove it now. it has also changed the icons for today, programs and settings in the start menu. any more ideas PLS!!!
Does no one knows how to uninstall this taskbar???
tsowen, why don't you only help me with this!!
Pls..!!
Sorry mate you've got 2 options, one do a "Hard Reset" the other install trail version of Sktools from here: http://www.s-k-tools.com/index.html?sktools/m_feat.html this excellent utillity has a better programs uninstaller then the standard window programs remover! this tool has got me out of similar situation in the past without having to resort to hard reset
I tried the Sktools, but it doesn't even show me the taskbar in the installed programs.
but in the default windows remove programs, its there. i even tried reinstalling the same cab again, but the installation fails.
Isn't there a way where i can just delete and replace the dlls in windows folder with original HTC ones. i mean we know the dlls that this cab replaced, now we just replace the same onces with original ones and delete any unnecessary files that came with this...!!!???

Hi, my name is kostas and I recently become owner of a Blackstone!
After searching the forum about themes and how to create them, I decided to try and create one. That's when my problems started!
First I copied the windows folder from my device to my pc, then with manila editor I extracted the icons that I wanted to change and edit them in photoshop. After that, I replaced them to the manila files with manila editor.
When I tried to copy the new manila files to my device I got a message which says that I cannot copy them to the windows folder.
Then I used QuickCab to install the files from my phone but after the installation I started the TF3D and the old icons were shown.
What should I do to make this work?

If you used File Explorer to replace the files, most times it does not allow you to return them. The safest is probably to first disable TF3D (Settings\Today) and then use something like to Total Commander or Resco to replace the files in Windows. Soft reset and re-enable TF3D.
thanks for the advice. I'll try it and see what happens

Pleasure bro, hope it works for you. You can also look at HD Wall which allows you to create your own slider with your icons and then creates a cab for you to install.

Alternatively you can use Sashimi to copy the files to your Windows directory! But Total Commander should work just fine...
how do you create folders in the start menu to store items...that way you don't have to scroll down forever. Ive seen this used in some ROMS...i dont really want to flash a rom so is there any way to do this?

If you are using the Stock Rom, it may be worth it to maybe get a different file explorer than the stock winmo.
I use Resco File Explorer, the demo version is free and all features work for 14 days I think, then after that, most of teh normal features still work, very useful and far mo finger friendly than the stock file explorer or even total commander that some custom roms come with.
if you go into HKLM\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start you'll see keys corresponding to your folder names. Add an "Icon" string value there having the location of a png image if you want to make a custom folder icon. I've not found a way other than restarting to activate the new folder icon (yet)...
I'm in the stock ROM (really like the quality of this vs. the stock Fuze rom) and in Windows 7 trying to reorganize the start menu icons.
For some reason, windows is telling me I don't have permissions to make these changes. Anyone have an idea why?
Thanks!
