Call Filter/Forwarder TP2 - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

I am looking for a program similar to one I used to own on my Linux based ROKR E6. The program would automatically filter blocked calls and forward them to a selected number of my choice. It worked on rules and the ones for winmo don't seem to have the same functionality.
I have tried call firewall, winmo call block, call filter, a couple others I cant name off the top of my head.
I have not tried isecretary yet, but this and some other options that allow the call to be picked up and a select mp3 to play don't seem to be viable either. Im assuming that when the phone is near me at work and is picked up the program has to be smart enough to mute the mic which only this one "says" that it does. Plus I'd prefer to spend the minutes on the call forward anyway so that if I'm on a call that the messages still get forwarded appropriately rather than going to voicemail again.
any options or programs I am overlooking?
Id even be willing to pay for it to do all of this since it seems rather specific

Answer Machine Software

Hi
Quite a while ago i had software on my Symbian OS Nokia that worked as an answer machine. It was great. I have had no luck finding one for the Pocket PC. Has anyone seen one about.
Some key advantages included:
No cost for reteiving messages from the network
Quick access to messages
Multiple answer recording depending on caller and situation ie friend calls answer 'hi man in a meeting leave a message' vs business caller 'Sorry i am in a meeting at moment...'
I have found a couple that uses sms to reply but none that actually record the voice.
Any ideas?

Im sorry, I might not have explained my self. I'm after software that will do voicemail. I want to take a voice recorded message from the caller rather than have it diverted to my network voicemail.
I like the sms idea though and I'm sure the 2 applications could be integrated etc.
Hi
I have been doing a lot of investigation into this subject as i think its a neat idea. I know it has been asked many many many times before in this forum as i have dredged deep into the archives so I'm just wanting to share some info as to what i have found and find out if there have been any new developments since the last relivant posts a few months ago.
I have found this software i used to use called smartanswer for a symbian nokia
http://www.symbianware.com/product.php?id=sanswer60&pl=n6600
So i know it is possible on a similar system but different OS. I haven't managed to found any real reason for it not being able to be done on a pocket pc yet although I'm sure there is a reason or else it would have been created several times over already.
Anyway its just my small blabber wasting time in my lunch break.
phatbloke:
I've been asked about this numerous times, and you say that you've found no good reason why it's not happened yet:
Basically, as I understand it, and I know next to nothing about this area, but basically, the Phone PocketPC is just a pocketpc with an entirely seperate piece of hardware for the phone. The two are independant.
Inorder to control the "phone", the pocketpc comunicates with it through a COM port, sending commands to start calls, data connections etc. However, as I understand it, we have no direct means to access the audio/in out. So, although this is bog standard on many intelligent phones, the pocketpc was never designed around phone hardware, but merely slapped on piggyback.
Being able to record the calls is obviously essential to the answering machine. Some of the clever boys on this site have said that this is impossible or unlikely until we reverse engineer the drivers, and this hasn't happened yet AFAIK. Again, if this is all ball-ocks then someone please correct.
I can monitor missed calls, hangup incoming calls, log all that and so on, but spooling audio in and playing something down the line evades us for now.
Look here towards the end for discussion and futile ideas I had:

PS if you follow the first thread, someone mentioned that Resco Sound recorder can record both in and outgoing audio on calls. Can you try that software? If that works, it might be possible. But I've seen no verification and don't have the opportunity to check it myself.
Hi all,
I am understanding; Microsoft don't publish some "sensitive" APIs like recording audio from downlink, etc. ..... I am Symbian Software Engineer; That is everyday life for me.
So, while using Symbian, you have the possibility to make requests to Symbian or Nokia for getting access to their internal API. We do that several times... perhaps for muting microphone, GSM trace information, etc. Exists there a business case to get access to Microsofts internal API?
A contact will be very helpfully!
Thanks a lot!

[REQ] YouMail WM client

Since YouMail have released their API with documentation, I was hoping someone would be able to whip up a nice Windows Mobile client for this service. I can't be the only one who uses YouMail and would love to have it on his phone without going through Opera. Anyone interested?
I use youmail too, but I never really felt the need for a separate app. My wife has an Iphone, and I've seen the app on hers but wasn't impressed. I just set it up on the favorites panel. And I get emailed with a link to the message anyway, so I dont even launch it that way very often.
I'm not trying to discourage you, just giving my point of view.
I actually have an iphone with the youmail app on it and I find it invaluable. It's a far better solution for me than having to open up safari to go to the mobile site. The program sends a push notification rather than clogging up my email inbox with useless junk, and it's just all around a much more pleasant experience. Considering they felt the need to make clients for iPhone, Android, and Blackberry, obviously a lot of people agree with that sentiment. But to each his own I guess. I'm still hoping someone with some programming talent will be willing and able to whip something up.
I use and love you mail. I'm starting a project for a WM client. Dont wait up because I wont have much time to work on it. Once it progresses enough I might ask someone here to do some graphics for me. It will work by intercepting you mail sms messages. When it catches a message from youmail it will sync with the online acct. It will also feature a chome plugin to replace the existing missed call and VM plugins.
If possible I will also suppress the system missed call notification and show my own. Currently it annoys me that i get a text from youmail for notification of missed calls and I still get the built in missed call notification. I would like to disable the built in one. One advantage of youmail is that if someone calls you and your phone has no signal or is off, you mail still sends you a missed call notification. On the other hand if someone calls and hangs up before it goes to voicemail the system will show a notification but youmail is never aware of the call. Therefore I will suppress the system notification and show my own notifications if the system gets a missed call or if youmail gets a missed call (and each time I will need to check to see if they are notifying of the same call or if a different one occured). Better get coding.
I hope you get some time soon to work on it. Sounds great! I did a mockup of how I envisioned such a program and made some rudimentary graphics. Feel free to PM me if you are interested in them.
I'm interested too!

i hope you get some a chance to work on this i would be interested in testing this it would be nice to have a more functional youmail app it would be nice if this could work with google voice also as far as the notifcations system
this is a quick little app i whipped up like a week or two ago its nothing special but it works for your basic youmail needs. this is a quick easy solution to my needs so im sharing it with you all.

full Google Voice on WP7

I have always been an android fan since the G1, but REALLLY interested in WP7, thinking of buying the htc arrive on sprint but theirs ONE thing holding me back. And thats Google Voice.
I use GV for my main number for texitng AND calling.
I know they have some GV apps but can never seem to get a clear answer. I need to be able to receive and make calls along with texting and receiving. any WP7 GV app for that?
There are a couple of GV apps but I still use the actual website because I think it works better.
If you download zune I believe you can download the WP7 Marketplace still if you wanted to look for yourself.
well I use zune and looked. but wasnt sure if I can call on those. Like of course android GV app will be better. but say someone calls my GV number I want my WP7 to ring just like normal
i use google voice on android and it rocks
well I know its awesome on android thats what I use. I just want the baic features to work if im gonna get a WP7 device like texting and making and receiving calls to my GV number
It works on wp7. Its not quite as fully integrated as there is no official app, and there is no socket API as of yet. This means the 3rd party apps have to send you notifications directly from their own servers for true notifications, otherwise it will load when you open the app and check for new messages.
I use the GoVoice application on wp7 and it notifies me (through 3rd party) of sms messages ect, and gives me my google voice mails/translations/playback just fine. It works, you can make calls, receive calls, texts, get transcripts/playback just like on android, its just a little bit more limited than the Android version. When the sockets api comes out for dev's this will quickly be addressed with true notifications and be more similar to what you are used to.

hmm thanks. I think im gonna try the HTC Arrive on sprint. I looove android, but sometimes just want a phone thats very quick. simple and looks great. plus I love Zune Pass. The only thing holding me back was using GV. but GoVoice seems great

Yah I'm pretty heavily tied in to Google Voice. Use it for work and all my voicemails. GoVoice gets the job done good enough till a full fledged one can be written when Sockets API is released. But when that happens I will definitely be looking for one as great as what Android had

I'm curious how you expect a Socket API to make the notifications better.

The reason you don't see any [functioning] Instant messenger apps, and why GoVoice needs this 'workaround' is there is no way for the dev's to bind to a port or IP address on a host, giving way for the notifications you would normally be used to. Until MS gives these API's out, only bandaid workarounds will be available.
Or am I missing something?
If there is a way to make/recieve phone calls using GoVoice, then I must be too stupid to figure it out. When I attempted to make calls, it would somehow remotely call from my other on contract phone, while also causing my on contract phone to ring until I answered it. Really confusing to describe, but it was equally confusing watching it happen.

I don't think what they are doing is a workaround, I'm not too sure how they'd do it otherwise. One of the major reasons for push notifications is to be used when the application isn't running. Having a Socket API isn't going to help at all if the application isn't running, right?

hmm...thats true...so I would assume (hopefully) that sockets support comes with the multitasking update? Are programs going to be able to periodically check for information while not running in the foreground? You will need this for 'in app' notifications instead of the workaround; I call it that because it is. Well, a workaround the lack of what is necessary to do these like on other systems (BB, palm, Symbian, iOS, Android ect). GoVoice uses a secondary user account on Gmax. Gmax has to watch your account for changes and then send you notifications to the phone, as opposed to doing this inside the app.
I'm no programmer, so I'm not sure exactly all what is needed. But shouldn't these programs be able to bind to certain ports, and when messages come in, they are pushed to your device? Does the program need to be running all the time? or will the notification being sent from a specific host/port 'awaken' the application with a notification? Maybe somebody can clarify this for me. How do the other systems do this? You should be able to get a notification while doing other things, since you can obviously already do this with the MS applications.
To me, this type of functionality is pretty necessary to many applications people will need on their phones.
In iOS4, Apple added the ability for VOIP applications to run in the background. That in combination with a Socket API (which is necessary for VOIP anyway) is probably what you're after.

GoVoice dials directly using the same method that Android's Voice application uses. There's no call-back when connecting the call. It simply calls an intermediary Google number, which dials out to whomever you're calling.

Did you use Google Voice web page on your desktop PC to make a call and remembered that setting? It is possible that GoVoice gets affected by your Google Voice web page settings.
BTW, on Android Phones, Google Voice is fully integrated with the phone dial pad as well so that you don't need to pull up the Google Voice app in order to make a call. You set up rules about when you want to make GV calls (all calls or only international calls) and just dial your number or contacts in regular Android phone dialer pad.

Google voice preventing me from making Bluetooth calls...

So I just bought a new car, and while hooking my dinc up via Bluetooth I noticed that I cant call out from my phone because I have it set to ask every time I make a call if I want to use Google voice...it gets stuck on that screen and fails to make the call.
Is there a way to prevent the Google voice app from asking when calling out via Bluetooth?
Anyone? I could have sworn it worked Thursday when I picked the car up, that's the weird thing...
I'm not sure exactly where it is but there is an option in the settings somewhere that dictates how Google voice handles calls. It can be set to use Google voice, not use it, or ask.

I think that's for international calls. But, you phone might be dialing an international prefix before the number. That normally wouldn't matter, but Gvoice will take notice of it. I set mine to never ask because I never call internationally.
Ah yeah, I think loonatik is right. So if you do have 1+ before the number, GV will probably pick that up and that might be what's giving you troubles. Maybe?
No, I have it set to always ask...but I was hoping there was some way to override it if the call is made via Bluetooth. I could have sworn I had it working Thursday, but now it just fails because it gets stuck on the Google voice screen ...
Anyone know of any way to override the setting if making a call thru Bluetooth?
Or, an alternative would be for me to turn it off (or on) for all calls and have an easy way to bypass it...
Possible solutions...
Free, but a pain in the butt:
Drop the Google Voice Settings widget on one of your home screens. The third button (the one that looks like a handset inside of a settings button) toggles call modes for GV:
-Use for all calls
-Do not use
-Use for international
-Ask every time
Free, but I have never tried the app so I can't personally comment:
http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/communication/google-voice-callback-free_fpin.html
Looks like you could set this up to perhaps side-step the GV behavior of manually answering every time
I was about to write out how to do it with Tasker and the Locale Google Voice Settings plug-in. But I just realized that it doesn't have the all/none/ask choice as a plug-in setting: only the online stuff like forwarding phones, etc. Bummer - but maybe you could contact the dev about future integration
Google Voice always ask and bluetooth
Did you ever find a good work-around or solution for this?
I just got an S4 today, and I was hoping that the Google Voice app on the Android would be similar to the iPhone one. It's not.
I use google voice to call/text my friends (I ported my original # over to Google) and the main number for work. But when I tried making a call over bluetooth in the car, got the same problem as you, it got stuck on the "Always Ask" prompt. The problem with making it never ask, is there is no dialer to just go to like there is on an iPhone when you do want to make a call using Google Voice. So you have to keep switching the option on that widget before every call. So annoying.
Suggestions?

HELP-NEED A DEV- Bluetooth Voice Commands/Dock Audio Out

PLEASE, help me. I've looked around and only found a couple of post within threads that specifically target these two issues. Most people are concerned about voice dialing over bluetooth which is answered by several apps, Voice Command included. But, I'm pretty sure a lot of people have been frustrated by or are curious about this:
It seems REALLY dumb of Samsung to disable or remove the ability for bluetooth voice input in stock apps. I know there's Voice Command, but I have 2 problems with that - 1. it just kinda totally sucks, IMHO; 2. If you launch something like Google Navigation, but it or you get the address wrong, you cannot use voice commands to input the new address within the application, you have to back out an try again. If I tell it to navigate to "Alewife Station" and Navigation comes back with a list of wrong guesses, I have to back out. Also, no voice-to-text once you are in your messaging app. It's fine for the initial message out, but not your reply if the app is open. No 3rd party voice assistant apps. No Google search outside of Voice Command. Essentially, no bluetooth voice input outside of their precious little app that is not as all inclusive as they'd like to make it seem.
My second gripe is using the audio out for only media/notifications, but not phone calls. The audio quality is markedly better when using the audio out on the car dock verses an FM transmitter, especially in the city where it's hard to find an open frequency. But if I receive a phone call while docked the audio switches to the phone's speakerphone. And even with a bluetooth paired it takes the input from the phone (the mic is blocked by the dock) WTF?! So I have to dismount my phone (which is illegal in some states) or fumble through the menus to turn off the audio out setting, then switch my radio to FM and hope I'm in a clear area, just to take/make a call? So much for 'eyes on the road'.
These two decisions seem counter intuitive and odd oversights for a flagship smartphone.
ANY suggestions or solutions are welcome. If you'd like to build an app to address one or both of these issues, I'll test it all day on my phone (that's why I pay $8/month for insurance) and support your development time. I'm sure many, many people would be happy to have this function.
Sorry about the rant, but the fact that this is not a standard function irks me.
I agree. I hate the voice command bull. It never calls the correct person. I say call Ted and it calls pat. I hate that program. And as far as I could tell the only way to get rid of it is if you rename another app and push it to the System folder.
I just want Google voice search over Bluetooth.
No ideas? Please? Anyone?
