I'm running the stock ROM (with a few cabs installed) and just got my internet working the way I like it. The issue I have is that when I launch the internet browser from the TF3D internet icon it will always default to att.net, even after changing the homepage within IE. Is there a way to change the default page for this?
Thanks in advance!
Anyone have an suggestions/comments on this?
Re: Internet link/icon/homepage
Sounds like something in the registry that defaults it all the time. If you have Total Commander or PHMEdit (or any other registry editor), you might have some luck in locating the persistent URL.
(steps on Soapbox) I'll never understand why the Death Star company insists on both bloatware and total domination of your phone settings...(steps off)

My TP2 is from Sprint, and it comes stock with IE mobile, of course, but when launching internet through TF3D, it's actually launching Opera Mobile. Don't know if it's the same in your case, but if it is, you'd have to change your homepage in Opera settings. Hope this helps.
This has been described previously. You need to edit an XML file.
1. Use Resco Explorer or Total Commander on your phone and navigate to Application Data/Manila/InternetPortal-en-US.XML
2.Copy the XML file to your Storage Card
3. Transfer file to your computer
4. Hold down right mouse key and click on properties and un-tick the attribute read only,
5. Use notepad to open the XML file and change the entry NavigateURL=att.net to whatever you want.
6. Save the file and change attribute back to read only
7. Put back in your Storage Card and then move to Application Data/Manila on your phone.
8. Reset your phone.

Upon install some third party applications, two icons for a program will install in the programs menu instead of just one (not talking Start Menu). These are not two separate installs, but two shortcuts to the same program. Under Remove Programs there is only one program instance.
On a related note, I had switched phones and had installed Beta player on my SD card..it was still there, of course, but now an icon does not appear in the Programs folder.
1. Where do I go to remove or add shortcuts into the Programs Menu?
2. How do I do so? (if it is too long to type out, where can I read about doing so?)
Thanks,
First a real file explorer then find the links here....
Get a real file explorer first. The Windows standard one is terrible and you can not see many files that savy users need to see (such as the shortcuts I mention below). RESCO is a good and popular one. Then you can find the program shortcuts in Windows\Start Menu\Programs. These are just links to the actual executables and if you get the file properties you can see where they link to.
Alt file explorers
Ah...I figured it was something simple like that. I will download some file explorers and try them out.
Thanks ;-)
Resco Fixed it
Once I could see and read everything on the pda, everything was a breeze. Thanks again.
Hey is there a way to show the programs as a list when you go through the menu or does it have to show the full icons?
I have the 6.5 rom by nfsfan. Is there a way i can change the registry or settings somewhere so that when i go to the music tab it launches S2P instead of WMP?
The link that is launched is hard coded into manilla. The only way around that is to change the link that is opened. You can use something like vjbrisk to change any actual link - for instance, you can use it to replace the actual wmp.exe (or whatever it is called) in windows so that anything that tries to open that link will instead open S2P. This is problematic, though, if you wanted to continue using WMP for other things in the future. Erasing vjbrisk from the windows folder restores the original link that was replaced automatically, so you don't have to worry about messing stuff up. Use something like total commander or resco explorer to overwrite files in the windows directory.
thanks for the reply!
Hi -
I'm trying to change the default browser from IE to Opera in the TF3d Internet Tab (search bar and "Launch Browser" button). I edited the InternetPortal-en-us.xml file in \Application Data\Manila\ to this:
<BrowserExe>\Windows\Opera9.exe</BrowserExe>
I made sure to make the file read only. However, Internet Explorer is still launching when I put in a search query and also pressing the Launch Browser button. Anyone know how to make this work?
my cab will fix all of your problems

it is actually OperaL.exe instead of Opera9.exe for your curiosity
Skyfire
What if I wanted to make skyfire my default?
I have a problem with my Push Pages. Whenever i try to access a pushpage, my opera browser opens and gives me this error: You tried to access the address file://localhost/obnc/Program%20files/pushinternet/temp/3b9a.tmp,http.www.blabla.com ( bla bla is any page)
i dont know how to fix this..is there a registry entry or a way to fix this in opera.... i tried installing a new version of Opera..but it didnt work....ultimately i would like to open my push pages in IE instead of Opera...I have made some registry changes and while my Internet browser opens with IE, the push pages open with Opera.
I am using a cooked rom so I can't uninstall Opera. I also followed these directions:

You are looking for an .xml file called: InternetPortal-en-us.xml
I copied it to my desktop, then edited it using Notepad. Always keep a copy of the stock page before starting any edits!
Replace the line showing the path to IE with this:
<BrowserExe>\Program Files\Skyfire\Skyfire.exe</BrowserExe>
but i dont have the Manila folder although my rom uses Manila 2.5
I am dying here....anyone that has any suggestions, I would definetly appreciate it
I tried installing Max manila on my TP2, but I must have used the wrong version. When the phone boots, it gets stuck at the "Touch here to launch HTC Sense" prompt.
I can get into the programs menu, but not into Settings. How can I uninstall this CAB if I can't get into Settings?
Tried looking at the original thread, but at 96 pages, the signal-to-noise ratio is just too low, and you can't find anything! Hence this new thread.
I really don't want to have to do a hard-reset!
if it is getting stuck at starting manilla you should still be able to click on the windows start button where you can get into the settings/home sections. From here untick sense and restart the device so it starts properly without starting sense. Remove manmanilla from remove programs option and then reinstall the working version.
Alternatively reflash your rom.

In WM6.5, there is no settings entry on the start menu. There must be a series of steps for deleting files and changing registry sessions that could be done manually if only one knew how.
There is a settings shortcut in WM 6.5, however in some roms the chefs have this shortcut pointing to the manila settings tab instead of WM settings dir. Obviously if manila won't load then this shortcut won't work for you anyway. Unfortunately I have no idea how to get that settings shortcut back on the start menu and working for you :/ You could use Total Commander to manually delete all of the files altered by MaxManila and then soft reset - your phone will then restore the rom's original files. There are a lot of files in MaxManila though, so it might take a while to hunt them all down. Use aiCabExplorer to open MaxManila's cab file and get the names of all the files to delete.

I tried renaming all the files and registry keys obviously associated with MaxManila, with no luck. I don't know how the files in the CAB get installed, but I searched for half a dozen of them and they were nowhere to be found.

Did you use Total Commander? File explorer isn't powerful enough to edit system files

TC for the registry, Resco for the files, but I have it set to show all types.
Well I've just checked - I can see and delete all of the MaxManila files in my windows dir except the homeservice.dll using TC. Don't know what else to suggest; there must be a way to get back the settings shortcut (?)
To get settings, change registry as shown:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo]
"HideSettings"=dword:00000000
