When I sync my dash with my Vista Desktop, I see the following errors at times
Notification - Cannot execute Tskschedule.exe
- Cannot execute repllog.exe
- Cannot execute connmgr.exe
- Cannot execute calnote.exe
Anyone seen these errors. I downgraded to Windows Mobile Device Center 6.0 on Vista, but I still see the error. I did not see them in brightpoint ROM.
If I disconnect & reconnect to the usb, it works, but I do get these errors every other time..
Thanks in advance
what are you using to sync? activesync doesn't work with vista.
I am using Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1
I reverted back to the old ROM (Brightpoint) and now I dont see those errors.
Anyone here using win 6.1 ROM and has synced with their VISTA desktop successfully ?
-Thanks

First of all I hate VISTA...
Second no problem in WindowsXP with my WM6.1 ROM
Third Tskschedule.exe is only added from WM6.1,so maybe vista haven't get ready to support WM6.1
Kavana .. I could not agree more. I have it working on XP. But it has been frustrating on VISTA
btw, Thanks a ton for the ROM..
-sunjay
has there been any progress with this... as my vista laptop will not see my dash anymore
I got the same problem as Sunjay. Now only can connect with Vista/WMDC6.1 by luck. I got 2 Excaliburs, the one with Original WM5 never has problems connecting with Vista/WMDC6.1.
I am still researching.. Have not made much headway yet.
From what I understood from reading other forums on similar issues. There my be duplicate Notifications which may be causing this.. However, I did try using SKTools (demo version), and went thru notification events to check for duplicates, There were a couple of entries for the same program, but they seem to occur for different conditions.
I have also posted in the Micro$oft forums, hoping to get some clue
-Thanks
very odd....
On whim, I re-installed WMDC 6.1 (x64) downloaded directly from the MS download center... and all of a sudden no more problems/ The only thing, is the WMDC recognizes the phone as a dopod 720w. But it works a treat...
I hope that helps (the x86 wdmc 6.1 is also available... but you probably new this)
I will give it a shot and see if it help. In the meantime, Please post if it works or fails after your prolonged use..
-Thanks

will continue to monitor and update as is necessary
I did get this error and i was using WinXP Activesync v 4.5 . but i only got it once. and only once. i just thought it was a glitch , but now it seems this may be some sort of issue, just that it doesn't happen often enough for me to downgrade back to WM 6.0 ... if it starts to happen again i will re-post
Update: I guess i spoke to soon. It happened again, but something that i was doing on my PC both times it happened was i had windows media player opened on my PC and i was playing a video stream at the same time on media player. Coincedence?

very interesting:
two questions: what OS are you using (xp or vista) and what edition of WMDC center are you using (6.1)?

I did look, and the aforementioned is what had me confused... as the OP was regarding VISTA. I was trying to simply ascertain if the problem was not "OS-centric" and was occurring on multiple OS'
Which I guess it is...
Sorry for the confusion... as the solution that I happened along to was vista only.

I know you're looking for a vista fix. just know that are also issues similar when using win XP too . Although they may not be directly linked together , nor will the fix for both OS's neccessarily be the same. these might end up being the same problem, but different ways to create the problem, thus different fixes for the problem, depending on your OS
Lastly, this may have something to to with what i call "interoperability with 3rd party programs on a new OS" issues. Sometimes certain "combinations of programs" installed on a phone can create these issues.
This happened for me using XP as well, I don't really know what the issue is, because it synced properly before.
It works now !!
I got it to work now Thanks to Poser's suggestion in the earlier post. This is what I did
- De-install everything from VISTA which is windows mobile related (WMDC 6.1 & it had an entry for some mobile driver update)
- Rebooted the desktop
- Downloaded the WMDC 6.1 from download.microsoft.com. The filename is drvupdate-x86.exe for WMDC 6.1
- Installed the above software & rebooted.
- Has synced everytime since without errors.
I will post back if I see any errors..
Thanks
@Pudge - gotcha. Yeah sometimes to many "cooks" can spoil the soup...
I hope that you can find a fix.... have you considered upgrading to XP sp3 (I think you can dig up torrents and/or reg hacks to allow you to see it via Windows update). Also a re-install of active sync could be in order
@Sunjay... sweet dude, let me know if it continues to remain stable.
I noticed particular that running hard SPL on Win 7 was ok. I was just wondering if flashing on Win 7 was ok too?
The reason I ask is that I remember when Vista first came out flashing was troublesome on it and really not recommended because of the plumbing changes in the OS. Is all that not an issue now that we are many years into Vista and Win 7 being very close in plumbing?
Thanks.
I personally flash the NRG roms on windows 7 and had no problem up to now
No problem here!
And I'm one of those crazies that flashes every few days!
No Problems here !! Just to be on the safe side though I click the properties of the file and run it in XP mode Service pack 2. That's just me though.
Ok, thanks guys. I keep a copy of XP running just for flashing out of paranoia. I guess those issues have been worked out then..what ever they were.
I always flash from SD card - it's safer!
Hi all... I was flashing an NRG ROM and new radio to an ATT Tilt 2 I had just received and couldn't get the CustomRUU to run on my PC at all. When I double-clicked the file, nothing would happen -- even if I tried to run it in Adminstrator mode.
The PC is running Windows 7 and AVG Free, and the Tilt 2 was connected through Windows Mobile Device Centre.
In the NRG thread, they mentioned that the thought was that this was due to AVG seeing the CustomRUU as having a trojan and not letting it run. I'm not so sure, since I've been able to run CustomRUU's from other threads (Kaiser, Raphael and Topaz) with no problem on this same machine. I even tried turning off AVG and no luck.
What worked for me was to copy a CustomRUU from NRG's ROMs from the Raphael thread into the folder with the Rhodium ROM, then run that version. Everything worked fine. (I did notice that the Raphael CustomRUU is a different size from the one NRG included in his Rhodium ROM).
My suspicion is that something within the Rhodium CustomRUU is not playing nicely with Windows 7 -- not anything to do with the anti-virus.
Anyway, just in case anyone else is having problems...
have you tried other custom ruu besides NRG's? i flash with windows 7 all the time with this one and have never had a problem, give it a try and see if it works for you.

Yes, I tried it with the CustomRUU that came with NRG's and with a radio from the Radio thread -- same problem.
Funny, it seems to work fine on my laptop running Windows Vista 32 bit, but won't run on my PC running Win7 64 bit.
Anyway... just in case someone else has a problem...

did you try it with the one i posted? reason i am asking is that i flashed nrg's dual boot rom and had the same problem with the custom ruu that came with the rom. i changed it with this one and it worked.

Not yet.. but I will when I get home to the 'renegade' PC ... The reason I don't think it's NRG's is because I had the same problem with the CustomRUU attached to the 4.49.25.17 radio in the Radio thread.
But I'll give yours a try. Thanks.
I've been running Windows 7 64 bit all along and have flashed about a dozen ROMs, all but one NRG's, plus 4 radio ROMs. I use Rhodium_CustomRUU_v1.1. It doesn't seem to be a Win7 thing.
I also have Windows 7 64-Bit and I had a similar problem. I tried many different things and nothing worked. Now I just flash from the SD card and I actually think it's more convenient because you dont have to take out the SIM and you can do it without using a computer. And if you ever encounter a problem while away from your computer, just make sure you always keep the nbh file on the SD card and reflash on the go.
I guess I'll add my relevant experience too:
I'm running W7 64bit on my desktop PC and W7 32bit on my laptop, and I've successfully flashed ROMs (OS and radio) from both units to my TP2 using customRUU.
Which customRUU? Well, its Description is "Rhodium CustomRUU", its version is 1.1.0.0, and it's 924KB in size. Is there more than one version?
Windows 7 and custom RUU
I also had the same issue, I have McAfee suite.
Tried disabling the entire suite with no luck.
Tried the above UK Ruu and no luck.
Tried a Raphael Ruu and it work fine.
The size of the Raphael Ruu is 759KB
The size of the Rhodium is 924KB.
Just my observation.
Morning,
I have tried countless times to upgrade my ROM, Custom RUU, task29, etc.... Everything ends exactly the same; Screen on the phone shows the multi color background with "USB" at the bottom of the page, then both my laptop and the phone show a status bar that never moves off of 0%. I let it sit for a while, then I get some form or another of a communication error. It wants me to perform a "Recovery" but that never works either. I always have the same results.
When I try to use the HardSPL file, I get an error that states "Windows cannot access the specefic device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access them." It does not matter how I try it or "Run as Administrator" it still does not work.
When I connect my phone to the laptop, Activesync kicks in and establishes a connection, when the screen goes multi color with "USB" at the bottom, I hear the laptop ding as it does when a USB device is disconnected. I don't hear any dings as if it were reconnecting. I have tried this on 2 different Win7 machines and get the same results.
I would love to flash the ROM on this thing as it is over bloated with apps that I don't want/need/care to have! I know this phone has the potential to be very a very cool phone, so I am begging for help on this one.
I have succefully flashed the ROM on my old HTC Fuze phone with no issue at all. I have to wonder when I see the threads for doing this is over 2 years old if that has anything to do with it.
If anyone could please assist me in getting this sorted so I can open my phone up to new and different possibilities, that would be great!
Thanks
Joe

1. So your only problem is that you can't hardspl. Then why do you say that nothing from this site works?
2. Ask hardspl questions in the hardspl thread.
3. Try entering bootloader and then plugin your usb and perform a hardspl.
For further help, you should really ask in the hardspl thread

Yeah, the OP is really only having problems with HardSPL, and nothing else (not being able to run Task29 or a flash a custom ROM is due to not being HardSPLed). Why flame the entire website, and the thousands of ROMs, CABs, and other stuff that people dedicate their time and hard work to accomplish?
If you are using Windows 7, you should not be using Active Sync, you should be using Windows Mobile Device Center.

This may be the problem. But HardSPL on Windows 7 is a known issue if you read the HardSPL thread. It works for some W7 user, and not for others. If this continues to be the case, your best bet is to find a XP machine and HardSPL from there. Other things, like flashing a custom ROM should work fine on your W7 machine (using WMDC).
Hi
recently, i decided it was time to wipe my computer clean and do a fresh install (you know, its like flashing roms, sometimes fresh is better) so i reinstall win 7 ultimate x64 and for the life of me, i cannot get adb to recognize my g2 with cm7 rc1... ive searched through several threads on installing the proper drivers, installed the most recent version of htc sync, latest android sdk, and nothing... its not such a big deal, but i would like to flash to the final of cm 7, but i dont like a lot of the fluff in cm7 (adw, etc) and find it easier to remove and change things around through adb.
thanks in advance
Did you use the installer to install the android sdk? I had issues as well with that one. Removed it and just extracted the .zip package, after that it worked fine.
This REALLY is a tricky one. In the past I've had luck installing both the HTC sync software, and PDANet. Between those two all the drivers seem to work for me in Win 7 64bit.
Why not just use a file manager like 7zip to remove/add the things you want prior to flashing. Or do you just like doing things the hard way?

Unless it's specifically a problem with Ultimate, there's no reason it won't work. I run Win 7 Home Premium x64 at home and the steps I said work for me.
I run 7 ultimate 64bit and adb works fine for me.
I used the pdanet drivers.
Flash with rom manager and then install zip from card..the adwmod zip that is..take it out for you

I have to agree with everyone else on this. I'm running Windoze 7 X64 and adb works just fine. I also have Ubuntu 10.10 64bit and Sabayon 64bit on my HDD (yay multiboot!) and neither of them have issues either.

i use winrar to change files around before i flash it, but lately ive been having problems with the edited rom (i.e. install fails, boot looping even after a data/cache wipe, etc) i just wanted to try a different route this go around
You could try another usb cord, and make sure everything is installed under admin, and the way I got my drivers I edit the driver file and added the info for G2 (saw it in tmobile forum) and also I have no problem with win 7 x64 aswell... and I agree I don't like all the extra puff and bluff oin cm7
well, i havent been able to get a wired adb to connect, but i have gotten it to work with wirelessadb and i am now rockin a modified cm 7 final
