is it possible to either remove the deep sleep option or remap keys with android as my power button is broken meaning when deep sleep acivates i have no way of exiting it, it would be great if i could either remove deep sleep completely or remap the keys so i can have the home button on the home button.
dont worry, even with a working power button you sometimes wouldnt be able to wake the device up due to random issues...

sorry dude its just i've posted in there before on another issue and never seemed to get a response
I realize you never got a response on other matter, but did you try reposting it? This query should still have been posted in Q&A
If everyone takes this attitude this forum will become full of threads with people asking questions about every little thing. This is not what we want

I used to have an XDAII (the very first) where the unit could be woken up by pressing any button. There was a setting in the control panel that allowed you to set it to only recongnize the power button or have the other buttons wake it up. Naturally I set it to the power button, but after a while, that button got worn down and stopped "working" so I naturally set it to recognize any other button.
This experience has taught me the hard way, that its a good choice to have (or maybe even a necessity in some cases) that other buttons to wake the unit up in case of situations like this.
I've just bought an Atom life and unfortunately it ONLY recognizes the power button to wake the unit up. Is there any hack or software out there that could enable the other buttons (or better yet, allow selection of which buttons can turn the unit on)?
I'd like to use the large middle button on the front if possible, since that button seems more "sturdy" than the power button. I may be able to save that poor power button from years of wear and tear.
just realized i posted in the wrong section. Moderators, feel free to move it to the parent Atom section, and my sincerest apologies
Hi, nargalzius
I have been search for decade, but i still cannot find the way to assign other button for waking up da device......
same problem here...
anybody out there figured this one out already?
bump
did anybody find a hack for this?
I have just the opposite problem. I use the headphones that come
with the Atom Life - the button on it not only turns on the device.. if
you bang the mouth piece on something (without hitting
the button), it turns it on too!! I'd love a solution to that
I use O2 Flame and got the same setting, no other hard key than the power button can wake up the device from sleep. Anyone knows the tricks or registry hacks, please share. Thank you very much.
Atom Life Wakeup Button
Hi guys, there doesn't seem to be an answer on here and I assume the reason is as follows - Atom Life also wakes up by pressing the "end" key... (I think this is a general hardware setup)
I was also a bit weary of the power button being worn out, so I did some experimentation and found that the end button works a treat if you have the same concern "end - s2u"... swweeet!
Hope this helps.

You mean when the phone is in standby mode and you press the END key, the phone will come out of standby? Beats the whole purpose of standby then
I do echo the same "problem" of not being able to change the mapping of the power button to the front button.. ( as I was able to do with my XDA II)
I 'm confused about the "end" key solution..
Anyone finding a solution ?
Thank you all
Nearest program might be MORT saver? it allows you to specify the button that put the device in to MORT stand by and therefore the same button that will awake the device. Not exactly the power button option that you talk of wanting but at least MORT also stops the device from waking up when any of the buttons around the action button are pressed.
Hey there,
when turning touch flo off, locking the phone is like a game for babies, but how do I lock the phone with touchflo? And what is the difference between locking and pressing the powerbutton shortly and turning the screen off?
Bye,
Christopher
Chris, you are going to get flamed a lot with RTFM comments and people telling you to use search when you ask these types of questions with a new thread.
Most people set the long-press end key to lock the device. Others use various apps to do so.
If you lock the phone, you can't interact with the device unless you unlock it. If you put the phone on standby (by pressing and releasing the power button), you may still interact with the device once it's brought out of standby (via incoming call, pressing the power button, etc).
So with that said, going forward, please do read your user manual, the various wiki's, and use search before starting a new thread.
Would it be possible to configure our Rhodiums to wake from sleep mode upon a quick double tap on the screen? If possible it could be set that only a double tap (one tap followed by another no longer than half a second later for example) would wake the device to ensure accidental knocks in our pocket wouldn't wake it.
Any ideas?
Thanks
anyone any ideas?
I'm going to go out on a limb and say this isn't possible without seriously jeapordizing battery life, so it wouldn't be something plausible.
Consider that what you're asking means your device will always have to monitor the screen and thus never enter standby mode.
Perhaps you should look into applying the registry fix that will wake your device on any key press (not just the power button). Maybe that will work for you as well, while still letting your device go into standby.
What is wrong with the built-in power button again?
I would like that also (different button to turn on). With the diamond the centre round button would be a better button to turn on the pda than the current power button (which is a little too far recessed for my liking) The centre button is larger but recessed also which would stop accidently turning in on in your pocket.

yeah thats a fair point, ddn't think too much about the implications of it having to perhaps always be awake!

Nothing wrong with the power button, just thought itd be a cool feature to be able to do that, but ill stick with whats best!
I think HTC's placement of the power button is perfect. I've been using smartphones and PDAs for a while and that's just the natural spot I EXPECT a power button to be. In fact with my breif stay with a Blackjack II I kept hitting the power button to dim the screen, which on that phone would actually turn it off, like off off.
And as stated above, when your phone goes into standby, the screen turns off, it can't detect anything. In order to keep the sensor on, you would be draining power when your phone really shouldn't.
I'll throw my coin in the hat of "silly idea"
My first Tilt 2, which had a dud microphone, the power button was fine.. It was recessed but easily pressed. My current Tilt 2 I have to press holding the phone longwise.. if I'm holding the phone on the sides I can't press the power button... I'm thinking the screen moves slightly more or the button is more recessed. It's kind of annoying.
Personally I'd also like not have to use the power button all the time myself, although I wouldn't want to tap to do it.. One of the four hardware buttons would be just fine.
Yes, I know sliding and removing the stlyus turn it on too, neither thing I do often.
Hello im looking for simple app if anyone cancreate this will be awesome.
There already have many free litle apps that Turn your Screen OFF but.. they only Turn the screen backlight off and your device is not really into sleep mode.
My sugesstion is if someone can create a simple light Sleep Model Togler we can install it and assing some of the softkeys to SLEEP and when you press it just the device go into sleep mode.
So this will be good because you dont need anymore to press all the time the power button if you want your device to sleep, and after long time of using this power button often get broken.. so when we can turn into sleep model by pressing the assigned softkey will be perfect and easy to use with One HAND no need to press the power button anymore.
Im talking about the Blackstone but this app will be usefull for all others too...
P.S Sorry i didn`t know that the app Is Already Avalible and Thanks to virgilp to pointing this out

Now how would you plan on turning on the phone with no power button???
Look at this thread for a possible fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2479834

I partially solve it. It's only disabled when the OS is booted up, so when the phone is off, I can still use the power button. The file I edited is Generic or something in System/usr/keylayout
But another problem is that long press (10+ sec) reboot is still not disabled so sticking power button issue was still annoying me.
However, I kind of got the power button fixed now after keep hitting the power button a lot hard. But I have a feeling it's gonna be back again soon..
Oh btw, CM12 has screen on with volume button feature and double tap notification bar for screen off. So No problem there.

And Cm12 has home button to wake. Only problem can be it wakes up in your pocket sometimes. If your problem is solved, please add "[SOLVED]" to the beginning of the thread title.
