Hi everyone,
I recently received a new HTC TyTN II phone, everything is fine, however when i attempt to record a video, or make a video call, the output video displays just a green image. (Audio in video is fine) I am also able to capture still images from both front and rear camera's and this is also fine. this seems to be a video rendering issue. this seems to be a software issue? Rom issue? Video rendering issue? driver issue?
I have tried a hard reset numerous times with no luck, have contacted HTC who have reffered me to the origanal co-brander of my phone who is Orange in Europe. Orange then reffered me to my local service provider. but unfortunetly. i have imported this phone from Europe and according to HTC by my Serial number and IMEI number this is the only HTC TyTN II registered in Australia.
Any assistance in this issue would be GREATLY appreciated. i am a instrument technician by trade and tend to use video calls when doing field services. so would be a great advantage to have my video camera's working.
If you are able to offer assistance, please reply to thread, or if you would like a video of what i actually mean, i can be video called on Skype username: michael.j.mckinlay
Please see attached an image of my issue. picture taken when attempting to play a recorded video. Like i said. camera still take normal pictures. just not able to render video.
Cheers
Mike.

But yes, there is a Video driver issue but most of it is dependant on who's the chef of the ROM

Hi There, I have an XDA Executive and have recently upgraded to the 1.30.107 WWE ROM. After the upgrade, the 3G video calling function disappeared. I read some instructions on the Internet and found out how to get it back using a CAB located in the extended ROM. This brought the function back. However when I place or receive a video call, I can see the other person and myself on my phone but they can't see me on theirs. Any idea what could be wrong?
Regards
Ashley
maybe you also had to run a cab file from the extented rom which was a driver for the cam
is by best bet
Don't think its that as the camera is actually functioning when I place or receive a 3g call I can see myself and the other party. Its just they cant see me.
Regards
Ashley

which Hebrew do you use?
Video call
i've tried any options in the video call setting - including the
"turn of camera" and "flip the 2nd camera". did not help. I'm using eyron hebrew for wm6. last edition. I do not think its the cause, as i tried the video call before installing Hebrew - and didn't help. As you can see here -- http://www.pocketpcfreak.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=Himalaya;action=display;num=1187527263 -- it's a problem that many have. Maybe someone knows of an application for the front camera? I could use that to see if the problem is with the camera itself.
Can anyone use video call in LA area with ATT/cingular service? If so, any setting need to be set? I always have probelm to start the video call.
Video call
Anyone? Help? please. Thanks.
used video call on my tytn in france. worked fine with wm6... i was using custel 1.3 at the time.
?
Anyone? Any idea?
Got the same problem myself.
Not able to get video camera on front working.
Same here in Hong Kong. No video call function since day 1 of upgrade to WM6, from cooked roms to official.
HTc help
approached HTc for help. This was their answer -
"

Hi,
Does anyone have the same problem as I do where it is not possible to do video calls? The option (as stated in the manual) can not be seen anywhere on my phone. Just wondering if it is something that is disabled in the ROM, and how to fix this issue?
ROM Version - 1.12.531.2 (49169) WWE
Radio - 3.44.25.17
Protocal Version - 61.24t.25.17U
Have you checked the toggle located at the bottom left of the dialer when you open the phone app?
When I press the button you mentioned, it would bring up call history page rather than toggle into video call mode. Forgot to mention though, my TP2 has T-Mobile logo all over it so it may not be generic?
Thanks for the reply!

I believe u don't have the front facing camera? If that's the case, then u won't have that function (cuz most of the companies remove the second camera and I don't remember whether T-mobile is one of them or not)

are you located in the United states or in europe?
Thanks for all your replies. I was deeply worried at first fearing that I may not have the second camera. It was a big relief to have finally found the second camera alive and working, which is making me thinking the ROM had the video call function disabled. Does any one know if T-Mobile in the US supports video call?
For all who are interested, I got mine from Asia and had asked for a English version rather than a Chinese version. What I got was a non-branded TP2 with what appeared to be a fully customised T-Mobile USA ROM. (Perhaps confirming that it will be available in the US?) The ROM version appeared to be quite old compared to others that are out there though.
I can not wait for the Hard SPL to flash mine to see if I can get the video call going, and perhaps getting rid of all the T-Mobile settings on the phone as I am in Australia.
Crikey so you're in Australia with an Asian TP2 running an American ROM?
Sounds like a recipe for disaster! Looks like your stuck til someone breaks the HSPL barrier.
same here
I got my TP2 in Taiwan (as I live in Taipei ) and they put the english Tmobile ROM in. Phone has both cameras (front/rear) but no option so I'm looking as well how to get it working.
I also got a problem with MMS (did all the phone company Chunghwa settings) but I can only receive MMS and I cannot send (it tries but stays in outbox).
Trying to figure out if there's a registry to fix these things.
Has anyone in the US been able to utilize the front facing video camera on the unlocked TP2, i.e. AT&T video share calling, picture taking, etc. I ask because I'm worried when the at&t TP2 is released it won't have this camera and it would be nice to have it as an additional feature much like the xperia x1a has.
BTW, I was told by a Sony store rep that the FFC on the xperia x1 was for use with video calling on skype but as far as I know Skype does not yet support video calling for its mobile application. So is this true?
Thanks
I only know that the front camera works on mine for taking pictures. I haven't tried video calling because I heard my network (tmobile) doesn't support video calling. I never used Skype so I don't know the answer to that either.
I have a kaiser with a front camera and I use it with pictures only. I use palringo IM client so I can take front camera pics to send through the network. I have not tried any kind of video calling.
Hi!
I have a question if its possible to record incoming and outgoing calls on the Desire.
+1 !!!!
2-way phone recording need very much!
Dear All:
001.
Anybody has any positive experience with Ultimate Voice Recorder running on the HTC Desire (in the field of calls recording)?
002.
UVR on N1 seems to have problems with recording of the second party's voice, but on the US market this can actually be an "intentional" configuration/setup of the device.
003.
If same issues are present on the Desire how likely it is to get "fix" like the 2WayRecording? I have successfully used it on my TYTN2 together with Resco Audio Recorder to alleviate second party's voice recording issues.
+1 !!!!

any solution?
Desire and Ultimate Voice Recorder 2.3.4
Hi,
an "In Call Recording function" would be nice to have. I partially was succesful with the Ultimate Voice Recorder 2.3.4 which was able to record the remote person very silent, but still recognizable.
Same problems as I had with Windows Mobile 6: I used to have a T-Mobile Ameo (HTC Advantage x7501, Code name Athena) which would only record the other side's person in speaker mode.
More or less bad luck until now, as I expected Android-devices being superiour in this matter!
Greetings.
shame this, my c905 did it out of the box flawlessly
Hy guys, I just installed on my Desire (Android 2.1) something from the market called vRecoreder.
Used it once running in the background and it recorded my conversation (the recorded volume is kind low, but you understand).
Give it a try.
ps: had to uninstall all my call voice recorders that run in the background.

Update: it records .3gpp (hence the bad quality i think) and aparently records only incoming calls. Must test more though.
Two ways call recording is depending upon hardware construction same like wm and symbian. For example if wm, Asus and Samsung can but HTC cannot, whereas if in symbian case, Nokia can but Samsung cannot. This conclusion comes from my long experience with the aforementioned mobile phones. Have not tested with Garmin Asus android yet as it is not available in my market but believe this one can.

I'm sorry, but I have an exception on that theory right here.
My Touch Diamond wouldn't do a two way recording whatever I tried. Until I switched to a custom (WM6.5.1) ROM, there it worked fine. So no hardware issue, it was a ROM issue.

I second this, as in a few Win Mobile threads discussed (no link at hand, sorry) there are registry values to be manipulated for successful two-way-voice recording. As far as I remember Microsoft and HTC stated that being NOT possible to record 2-way (without speaker mode), were hardware (design!) related facts and decisions made - until someone figured it out otherwise, by accident! (As a prior Win Mobile user: praise him!)
Not being able to record calls in Android phones is really sad.
The Palm system was able to do it from day one.
In fact the largest selling single piece of software for a smart phone ever is
Qmobilsoft's "Callrec" for palm.
So what does that say for a needed feature.
P.S. The Palm OS is now over 15 years old.

It worked on my Touch Pro2 as well, but seems as though the stock rom was on there for around 10 mins i dont know if it worked out of the box or not.
AirVoice claims to be able to do this. Unfortunately in my experience it just doesn't
Hi falks!
The situation is easyer, then you think.
The hardware and the software are ready to record 2way the phone conversations. We have only one problem: we doesn't have any software, which would do it for us.
At this time is the only solution the Ultimate Voice Recorder, which records the outgoing voice perfect, and the incoming voice very quiet.
Total Recall is the other software, which could be able to do this feature, unfortunatelly it does it only under 1.6, so on our phone - HTC Desire - doesn't works.
For the moment... maybe turn the speakerphone on... and record the whole conversation with another phone! Hahaa... lmao!
is there apps for 2 way rec
or only wish centar

Agreed but I had HTC Touch Cruise too and did adjust the registry value up to 5 in the Sound Categories using Memmaid software. The incoming call recording improve but very slightly indeed and is too far to compare with the clear quality from my Samsung i780 using Vito audio note in non speaker phone for both. Finally sold the HTC out and bought Asus P552w and very happy with the unit. Suggest to know and choose the right hardware from the start otherwise one has to learn how to play with registry or cooked rom and run the risk of losing warranty if does not know how to flash back the official rom.

No one here can confirm that Desire can do this yet. Samsung Spica and Galaxy S are reported to fail to record incoming call
