Has anyone in the US been able to utilize the front facing video camera on the unlocked TP2, i.e. AT&T video share calling, picture taking, etc. I ask because I'm worried when the at&t TP2 is released it won't have this camera and it would be nice to have it as an additional feature much like the xperia x1a has.
BTW, I was told by a Sony store rep that the FFC on the xperia x1 was for use with video calling on skype but as far as I know Skype does not yet support video calling for its mobile application. So is this true?
Thanks
I only know that the front camera works on mine for taking pictures. I haven't tried video calling because I heard my network (tmobile) doesn't support video calling. I never used Skype so I don't know the answer to that either.
I have a kaiser with a front camera and I use it with pictures only. I use palringo IM client so I can take front camera pics to send through the network. I have not tried any kind of video calling.

Does anyone know is there anyway I can use the videocam or the 3G camera to do MSN live camera with wifi? I can only use the 3G camera for phone calls.. it would be nice if that's possible... even if not MSN..or any software that we can use...
I think this has been tried many times, and unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a solution (pls correct me if i'm wrong)
that said, you can always try Microsoft Portrait if you like. I haven't tried it on WM6, but if it does work, let us know.
Hi everyone,
I recently received a new HTC TyTN II phone, everything is fine, however when i attempt to record a video, or make a video call, the output video displays just a green image. (Audio in video is fine) I am also able to capture still images from both front and rear camera's and this is also fine. this seems to be a video rendering issue. this seems to be a software issue? Rom issue? Video rendering issue? driver issue?
I have tried a hard reset numerous times with no luck, have contacted HTC who have reffered me to the origanal co-brander of my phone who is Orange in Europe. Orange then reffered me to my local service provider. but unfortunetly. i have imported this phone from Europe and according to HTC by my Serial number and IMEI number this is the only HTC TyTN II registered in Australia.
Any assistance in this issue would be GREATLY appreciated. i am a instrument technician by trade and tend to use video calls when doing field services. so would be a great advantage to have my video camera's working.
If you are able to offer assistance, please reply to thread, or if you would like a video of what i actually mean, i can be video called on Skype username: michael.j.mckinlay
Please see attached an image of my issue. picture taken when attempting to play a recorded video. Like i said. camera still take normal pictures. just not able to render video.
Cheers
Mike.
Wrong section mate, supposed to go to here http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=378
But yes, there is a Video driver issue but most of it is dependant on who's the chef of the ROM
I have been searching (maybe not hard enough) for apps to make video calls on the desire.
It seems that without the front facing camera, thus there is no function to make a video call, only the ability to receive one.
Are there apps that can allow me to make video calls on the Desire? I think the phone is fantastic, it just lacks the video call function i need.
Samsung galaxy S is too big for me. Any idea?
If you "need" to make video calls, you bought the wrong phone. No front facing camera makes that fairly obvious!
The latest Fring beta supports video calls over Skype I believe.
Regards,
Dave
yes i tried the fring video call and it works very nice...the only problem is that it uses only skype
to clarify, i can make video calls to mobile phones using skype out?
bring a small mirror with you and put it behind your desire,
and there you go... you just need the software

No - it can make a Skype-to-Skype video call, but not a "standard" GSM video call.

I'm almost shocked that my brand new nexus doesn't have the option to do video calling. My Sgs2 makes and receives video calls fine but on the nexus i can't even receive one from another device. Is there something I'm not aware of? Or is the nexus unable to make video calls for some reason?

Standard 3G video calls? Don't think its supported.
Its not supported. Crazy i know.
Damn why didn't i know about this earlier? But I'm sure Google plans to add support for 3G video calling soon right? It's really stupid for a flagship device to not have such a simple feature while the others had it from day one.

i`m agree with all of you guys...
i have desire s, it`s have front camera, but it can`t use to make video call. when i want to make video call, i should use third party application. it`s really not usable, and commonly gadget now can use video call without use 3rd application.
i hope google soonly develop video call for android user...
Why does the HD video call not work across carriers??? I don't understand this at all.. there's no need for Google Duo if they can just make the devices talk amongst carriers.. anybody know the specifics behind this?
I.e. I can't use the built in video call to call my gf ATT N7 from my Verizon N7

Well google duo is a google thing and the built in video chat in the dialer is a samsung thing. Even if they were to work across carriers, both phones would have to be newer samsungs. Google duo is for people with any phone manufacturer who want to video chat between each other.
