Please help with dialer!!!!! - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Hello all! I"m hoping someone can help me out here. Recently, I was given a free upgrade from the Sprint TP (Raphael) to the TP2 (Rhodium). While reloading my new phone with my previous roms, emus and cabs... I destroyed my dialer. KDialer skins is obviously not compatible with the TP2 and now my dialer is cut off... and not alligned (I have to hit 123 for 456 for example). I found Juggalo's TP2 skin and loaded that, but now I am missing the talk/end buttons, and slider for incoming calls (can still see my start page where that is supposed to be). How can I fix this with out doing a hard reset?

move the slider over to settings, then select all settings. Select system and then in there select "Clear Storage". This will erase the phone and take it back to the OS you got with the phone.
It' may not be the only way but it's probably the best way to get your phone dialer and all controls back.

Thanks, but after searching for a couple hours I found the resource file names for the dialar .bpm's and deleted them. Installed a Rhodium Black Dialar and I'm all set.... (BTW, the point of me posting this question was to do this W/O a hard reset, thanks for trying... )

I can't find * THE ONE * complete replacement PHONE app!

I got my PDA2K two weeks ago. The internal phone application is
a joke, not much human engineering in it.
I'm already spent hours and hours in the search for the ONE program
that will replace this miserable internal phone application that comes
with the PDA2K.
It seems they are all far from perfect, although combining them
would probably make up for a complete good solution.
I also have Pocket Informant.
The replaceemnt either do not log the stuff in pocket informant as well.
The PDA2K also contains the internal Photo Contacts application
that some 3rd parties are replacing with a worse one.
Then you have the PocketZenPhone which is good in itself.
It seems you need like 10 different phone softwares to work
right with the PDA2K.
so far I tried PhonePlus from mesoftware.biz, the interllidialer (with no
success) and the interllipad (which showed a new keyboard like
input method but cliking on it didn't do much). I also need it in English.
Any help would be MORE than appreciated.. And I 'm also going to
Donate for this site which is HEAVEN!
The Intellidialer shouuld be a good sulution, if you run SE
Maybe you forgot to reset after installing it?
At least it gives you better access to your contacts.
well i was able to install the intellidialer (it's the intellipad that was installed with no change). anyway, the intellidialer is better than the internal app but a far cry from being called good. the finding of the contacts is too small to operate by one hand. If you try the PhonePlus2 you will know what I mean, the buttons on the later app for the quick lookup of names are much bigger and placed better suited for one hand operation.
What you need is fingerclix
http://www.imaginet-software.com/index.aspx?p=fingerclix_en
you could try potala telly
some nice features
very fancy interface
a bit slow at time though
Am I missing something here? What's wrong with hitting the contacts hardware button, press and hold down on the D pad until the first letter of the contact name appears, select the contact, select the number and you're done? It takes about five seconds to dial any number in my contacts list with just one hand.
I assume there must be more to your question but I don't see what?
I have over 1000 contacts and thats just not practical
Have you tried using CONTACTBREEZE to dial with? SBSH have added features for those of us with Pocket PC Phones.

contacts in SMS

somehow in Schaps 4.22 I have problems with SMS
when I enter a name in the To: area. I cannot get a list of contacts showing up.
IE. I type "da" , when in Black Satin, I got the contacts for "david", "daniel" etc. showing and I could choose the contact for the SMS. (similar to smartdialling"
Now in Schaps 4.22 (same in 4.01 and 4.2) I have to press To. and then enter in the contacts screen to get the same effect as earlier.
searched throughout the Wiki but, can't find anything, but, it is difficult to explain the problem.
wonder if there is something I need to set?
strange 69 views and appears no-one has the same problem.
wierd
any solution would be really appreciated
Hard reset? Reflash?
I had this in some previous roms, before official comes.
Maybe it's some 3th party application?
@klabton
finally solved this one, it was the TOUCH KEYBOARD that was giving the problems.
Did a HR, then one-by-one put back, contacts, etc. checking SMS at everystage,
After installing the Touch Keyboard Cab, it went wrong, removed the cab, back to normal.
Will revert to PCMKeyboard

GPS / Battery status / Selecting text or messages

Hello,
This is actually my first post on XDA; in the past I only downloaded the great roms for my older HTC Touch and never posted something. Now I'm the proud owner of the TP2 and have some questions to ask
It's a great phone, but there are a few things I can't get working properly. I'd like to excuse myself for the awful English I'm writing, but that's because I'm a "Dutch guy" (I also have a default Dutch rom btw)
The Questions
[1] GPS, I've applied all of the tweaks I've found on the Rhodium forum for a better GPS response, I've also installed TomTom 7 - v7.910.9185 with Western Europe 1GB 815.2024. When I try to navigate I don't get an GPS fix, the gps on my TP2 has never worked before. I also tried 'quick gps' for getting some gps settings, but that also didn't work.
[2] On my old HTC touch I could press the battery-icon on top of the taskbar to quickly see the remaining battery-power. Now you get the 'notification screen'. The notification screen is quite good, but I'd like to see my battery-power in just one or two presses.
[3] I'm using Opera browser and when I go to any kind of websites, which have thumbnails of images on it, I have to press several times before the phone opens the link 'behind' the thumbnail image. I also can't select any text on a webpage. How do I fix this?
[4] On my sms inbox I want to select multiple messages with just a sweep on the touch screen. I've read somewhere on the forum that you can change this with a simple registry tweak, but I can't find it anymore.
[5] the TP2 has I nice Facebook future, here in the Netherlands Facebook isn't that popular, Hyves is the rulling social network over now, does anyone now if HTC is going to release a Hyves plugin instead of facebook?
[6] the TP2 stores contact pictures in a larger format than outlook, but because I've imported some photo's to my contacts via outlook, they all have a resolution of 72x72px, which looks quite blurry at my touch pro.. is there any option to increase the resolution of the outlook contact pictures? I've searched on the net, but no luck so far..
[7] I've installed the .cab which gave me the option to delete the first 4 icons on the start menu, but I accidently removed the 'settings' icon, and can't set it back anymore..
[8] My last question, where did the 'audio manager' go? On the tabs you've something like audio manager, but it's always running on the background, right? I want to start it at my own.
In the past; on my HTC touch, I've mapped the camera hardware button to launch 'audio manager', but on the TP2 it isn't even listed anymore at the program list.
Thank you for reading and helping me out!
Brent
EDIT: [9]whoops, another question came up in my mind.. Is it possible to activate the light sensor all the time? When I'm calling someone the screen turns off when you hold the phone next to your ear.. this would also be an nice option for putting your mobile in your pocket or something.
[1] solved: I did a hard reset and then it worked
[2] solved: I installed a customized notificationscreen
[7] solved: After the hard reset the icon was back

Settings don't stick

I keep having to reset my phone preferences (such as my ring- I only want it to ring once) but it keeps resetting the settings to the default for the phone.
Is anyone else having this happen on their Sprint TP2?
***bump***
are you changing your ring settings through the touch flo 3d shell (settings>sound) or going through the traditional windows mobile settings (settings>sounds & notifications)?
My ring settings stick for both methods (or my phone says). I don't get calls enough for me to notice if settings stick.
maybe your ringtone is very long, so it sounds like it's ringing more then once?
I do experience a setting that I want to stick but doesn't. when you open phone, you choose menu > view. Default is "calls and contacts" but I only want "all calls". I can choose it and it'll filter, but when I close phone and reopen, it'll reset to "calls and contacts". =/
Thanks, Tone.
The ring is not long- it's an old fashioned phone ringer. The actual setting changes fron "Ring once" to "Ring."
I am setting it under the options on the dialer screen. I haave also gone through "Settings"; makes no difference.
So I recently hard reset my phone due to some other issues, but I tested if your problem again, and the settings are still fine on my end.
Out of curiosity, do you know what Manila version you have (along with what phone version)?
Mine is Sprint, Manila version 2.1.38416.1.
You can find the manila version with Reg Edit and go to "
HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila"
String Value "Version" tells you the Manila version.
If you don't have reg edit, or don't know how to do it, that's ok, just phone version should be enough. I've been discovering from customizing my phone and researching on XDA, that Manila may have different bugs depending on what Manila version you have (and most likely a different Manila version is attached with different carriers).
Same Manila version.
Has been hard reset twice, but the problem persists...
oh boo, that sucks. if you have a phone replacement/repair plan with sprint, I say go to them and tell them the issue. I always ***** at sprint with whatever problem that can't be solved. it's a defect in the software/hardware and if you have the replacement/repair plan, they won't charge anything for repairs. and if they can't repair it themselves, they'll send out a request for a 'new' phone replacement. sometimes its brand new, sometimes its refurbished. depends what they have in stock.
I can not get my phone to filter contacts by just device contacts it always defaults back to all contacts making me have dupes. Anyone else have this or know how to make the setting stick?

Click to collapse
this is what I do (if you have contacts on your sim).
enter phone app (call button).
press "contacts" (left soft key) to open contacts (manila shell).
press "menu" (right soft key).
choose "view".
listed is "all", "contacts" and "sim". choose "contacts" to list only device stored contacts.
settings stick for me. but I don't have contacts on my sim card to verify. however, the setting itself doesn't change back.
if you go to contacts (windows app version), I believe you can't do this, because there is no option for it.
this is one reason why I think manila is kind of retarded. it just covers up windows mobile, but there are still multiple front ends / GUI for the same things.
no real help, but i set my phone to ring and vibrate, and every now and then it reverts to just ring!!!
I was having the same problem until I noticed
the Single Volume control. It is above the Phone
controls on the settings panel. I turned it off
and now the phone ring settings stay the way I
set them.
it's a known issue for Sprint TP2's. it will be fixed with ROM update to WM6.5. in the meantime, check out this thread http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=83378&highlight=jfrancisny&page=4. Post #36 fixed it for me.

[Q] Spell Check woes

Hi, I have got a UK Touch Pro 2 branded Vodafone but it has the latest standard HTC WM 6.5 ROM installed (after Hard SPL).
I have installed TomTom and fixed the BTTrayCE error that created and also patched the clock which annoyingly wants to always show a time 1 hour and 2 mins behind, before flipping down like a 70s alarm clock to the correct time. I’m sure the programmer thought this was fantastic, but it’s just annoying and pointless! (/rant).
My problem is that I can’t find the spell checker. On my older XDA phones and my Touch Pro 1, in text messaging after typing a message, I just did Menu --> Spell check. It even allowed me to add words which it stored in the custom.dic file which I have been carrying from device to device as I upgraded phones.
However, even using the ‘proper’ text messing in Messages-->All Messages --> new message, when I click on the menu button all I get is “Add Recipient, Insert >, Quick Text, Save as Draft and Discard”. There is no spell check option!
The Vodaphone ROM which was slow and full of bloatware and incorrect settings for my network did have a spell check under menu – as did all the previous versions of WM.
I have tried enabling the XT9 feature and it does the XT9 thing of suggesting words and selecting them when you press space. This is quite rubbish for two reasons, it doesn’t auto correct i to I and you have to watch each word carefully, because if you type “hell” it might autocorrect it to “he’ll” depending on what you last chose. This results in having to go back and change about 5 - 10% of words, which is really annoying.
I have fiddled with the XT9 settings under Start/settings/all settings/personal/input/options and the only selectable input method is “Touch Input” although the hardware keyboard works and the options don’t seem to make much of a difference.
I have been searching for 4 hours now and hope that you might be able to help, please!!
Does anyone have a similar problem? Does anyone know if the standard HTC ROM should have a spell checker or not?
