TMobile 6.5 - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

I am trying to uninstall programs that TMobile added to there new update. I tried TMS Uninstaller but it only recognized the cabs i loaded just like my remove programs.

Unfortunately, programs that are built into a stock rom like that have to be removed manually (without an uninstaller). There's two basic steps to this:
1) Delete all files related to the program from /program files, /application data, and /windows/start menu
2) Delete all keys (references) to the program from the registry, you'll need to search to be sure you find them all.

I'm not much help, but you may want to change the name of your thread to something like "Uninstall preloaded programs" or something like that to get more attention.

You are talking about MRU list, when you run program it places own icon into MRU list, if you don't want to wait, run 3-5 different programs and they pull out your "dead" icon.
Why can't I "Remove Programs"?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am using a S621 (aka S620, aka Excalibur, aka Dash) running WM6 and when I select Remove Programs (Start>Settings>More>Remove Programs) there are no programs on the list at all.
Ideas?
What is it that you want to remove? What 3rd party apps have you installed?
Any app that is part of the installed ROM won't show up in the remove programs.
If you install 50 or more apps to your device the remove program list will be blank when accessing it from settings. You will have to use activesync from your PC to remove programs.

Really? That is strange. That was probably the problem.
Anyways I had been meaning to change from the Russian ROM to the HTC Official one for a while anyways, so I just did that last night. So it doesn't matter anymore (as upgrading removed all my programs, of course), but that is good to know for the future. Thanks.

Need help REMoviNG application please?
I downloaded some applications that i decided that i didnt need (Yahoo Go, Streaming Media Player, Etc)
When i delete them out of my Folders, i still have the icon in the Start menu...is there anyway to remove the icon?
Thanks
Go to settings, page 2, click on remove programs, then choose which ones you want to remove.
If you have total commander you can take em off easily. just open total commaner, go to windows-start menu. Go to icon you want to remove and hit file softkey and delete. Takes off start menu.
Never Do That Unless Everything Else Isn't Possible
You should always go to remove programs like stated above. It's in Settings then more then remove programs. Always, do that instead of just deleting the folders. It removes everything.
Removing programs that come with rom
Hey was wondering if anyone knows how to uninstall programs such as Office mobile, command processor, orneta calculator, resco explorer, cele task just to name a few. I am running ricky's v23 and they were built into rom. I know i can flash to vanilla rom but I like the fact omap clock thats built in keeps setting on what you choose with no further need to set it again. Also like alot of his built in features so dont really wanna flash if i dont have to but wanna free up space and get rid of stuff i don't want. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!
As far as I know, you can't but there is a way but i think it is complicated. I don't quite remember what you are supposed to do but i think you'd have to basically re-cook the ROM to your personal preference. The best person to ask this would be rickywatt himself. Get in touch with him and he'll guide you in the right direction. hope everything works out the way you want it !
If you look in Rickys thread, previous ROMS, he has a "vanilla" version.
Thats the one you are looking for.

I think he just doesnt want to flash the phone, thats the reason why he was trying to find out on how to do it. it kinda takes some time to get the phone the way you like it after you flash it, I would like to know how to get rid of those programs as well with out having to flash the phone.
Remove Programs Problem
Hello,
I am trying to remove some programs I have installed, however when I go into settings > remove programs, the list is blank. I have let it sit for up to 10 minutes hoping that it would populate but no luck. I am able to remove programs with active sync. I have used the remove programs feature with no trouble in the past. Have any of you ever had this problem or know what could be preventing programs from showing up in the list?
How many programs did you have installed? I remember there used to be a problem with WM6.0 where, if you had over a certain number of programs installed, the list wouldn't display.

And ppl says the Windows is complicated??
Thanks, seriously it's helpful.
after flashing, all the registry and "links" that the programs is building during the installation, are gone. that's why all you have to do is to delete the files and folders.
after reinstalling the programs the recommended way is to use "uninstall".
you can also get rid of a program that can not be uninstalled by deleting its files and manually deleting all his registry and shortcuts.

Deleting from the Program list

I have used Settings>System>Remove Programs to remove a game but it did not totally remove everything and the program name still exists in the program list displayed in the Remove Programs app. Can I access the list and manually delete it?
Think you need to navigate to WINDOWS->START MENU->PROGRAMS there should be a bunch on .lnk files those lnk files drive the program list
nope, that doesn't do it
The .lnk files seem to be shortcuts to the main programs. The program I'm trying to delete from the Program list that appears in the Remove Programs app doesn't even have a shortcut there. Meaning that this Program list must be located somewhere else. Does anyone know where?
What happens when you try to uninstall it again?
I get a message that reads "...was not completely removed. Do you wish to remove it from the list of installed programs?" If I say "Yes", it still does not remove it.
you may want to give the program a try:
Tms Uninstaller: Will allow you to delete programs that don't show up in the normal remove programs. Direct download in link. (freeware) ~ Thanks Senax
I stumbled across that the other day while trolling for apps n tweaks...you can find the info and cab file here in the 1st post of " Software worth installing on the TP2 *Continuously Updated, links in thread* [Nov 25] " Thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550973
I havent used the program...i just remembered seeing it and thought mabe it could help ya...
Peace...
Thanks
Thanks. That program did it. Nice little app for removing programs. It said it had to delete something from the Registry. Maybe the Program list is there somehow??
No. It's back!
Spoke too soon. That app seemed to remove the program from the list but it's reappeared! Can anyone help?
lmao...that sucks...attempt to reinstall it then delete it...
You've got company
I too am dealing w/this issue. I've even resorted to deleting everything related in the registry to no avail! Now I cannot find the cab for DHR CommMgrPro. I was going to try to installing & uninstalling again. POOP!!

[HOWTO] Install Latest WaveSecure in ROM

I found that [email protected]'s ROM had a good idea of adding WaveSecure to the system partition (preventing listing in the My Downloads part of market, and preventing uninstallation through normal means), but his version is slightly out of date now (latest version is 3.0.0.43)
As a result, I set about finding a means to install WaveSecure to ROM myself. Here are my findings for anyone interested in doing the same.
Install the latest version from the market (3.0.0.43 at this time). Now use adb pull to get it off the device onto your pc
Code:
adb pull /data/app/com.wsandroid.apk D:\com.wsandroid.apk
Now open Market back up from the menu, go to My Downloads, and choose Wavesecure Mobile Security Beta and uninstall it for just now (to get it off the data/A2SD location that normal apps are stored in) - thanks, my-space!
Then push the saved apk to the system partition after a remount (to make it read/write)
Code:
adb remount
Code:
adb push D:\com.wsandroid.apk /system/app/com.wsandroid.apk
Then set it all up as usual (will appear in apps list immediately)
and remount system as read only again
Code:
adb remount
And that seems to be it so far. Remember to change the D:\com.wsandroid.apk path to whatever you actually used.
Let me know if anyone finds any problems with this, but I've done it and, fingers crossed, it's worked OK for me.
Obviously, this is only for root users, and there are no guarantees for this.
Couple of questions that might need looked into -
- Do settings carry across after a wipe (as Paul claims Modaco's version does. I've never tried it so can't confirm)
- Is there any disadvantage to using this method? (I guess this is all Modaco's update.zip does, but I don't know)

Oops! Knew I'd forget something, as I always seem prone to do. Well spotted, and OP corrected.
Thanks
No worries I got a bit confused when i pushed it back onto the phone and was still in my downloads...
I've rooted my phone already but whenever i try to use the command adb remount I get "remount failed: operation not permitted". Suggestions?
I see more and more often, redundant threads.
What How-to will you post next time? How to change backlight settings?
You're pointlessly spamming the board.
I can't say i agree with the 'pointlessly spamming the board' comment, but i would have thought this would at least be better in the applications and themes subforum rather than in development.
Don't forget that an awful lot of android users (and more recently all HTC devices) are more and more 'newbs' and need stuff like this.
While this is good and provides info that people like that need (and myself cos i'm crap at adb and stuff like that so wouldn't have had a clue how to do this previously), maybe the development forum is not the best place for it....
I'm guessing one won't be notified via Market if there's an update available if you push an app to /system/app/, right?

You won't be notified, correct
If anybody doesn't already know, WaveSecure have started hosting update.zip files. This means it's now easy to update your "baked-in" version of WaveSecure without much messing around.
https://www.wavesecure.com/installations/update.zip
Download the file, save it to your SD card, reboot into the recovery console and choose the option to apply an update.zip file.
Voila! Your version of WaveSecure will be updated to the very latest version

That's really awesome! Thanks for the tip!
Just a question of curiosity: If I push an app to /system/app/ and then issue the rm-command to remove its apk, won't there be lying a bunch of files associated with the program and with absolutely no function, since the app itself is removed? How do I know the name of these files and where they are located for removal?
I'm a bit confused by that question. My understanding (which may be incorrect but from what I've seen of the "guts of a ROM" appears to be the case) is that the applications reside in the apk files, they are not extracted. If you list the content of any of the app folders (/system/app, /data/app or /data/app-private) then all you get is a bunch of apk files (and some odex files). So when you 'push' an apk to the phone, that application is then "installed", when you rm/remove an application, you do so by removing the apk.
if you remove the apk you have left something in /data/dalvik-cache. wiping the dalvik-cache every now and then helps reclaiming that space, though it is not much.
the app settings and data are stored in /data/data, you could delete the files manually by checking their names (no idea if/what convention the names follow), imho not worth the trouble as it is only a few kb.
odex files aren't created if you don't do in a PITA process manually. don't worry about them, don't touch them, then you're good. odex files are only for system apps.
I bought a used phone and it had WaveSecure already installed. I couldn't find it in the applications list to uninstall, so I did a factory reset on the phone. The application was still there and it still didn't show up in the applications list.
I have the Superuser Permissions application, so someone must have rooted it.
Is there any way to uninstall this?

I just noticed that WaveSecure now points to this post for instructions to install as system application, and I am not sure that the update.zip maintained with them is up-to-date.
However, you can now select to download the .apk directly to your PC thus eliminating the first Market step in this guide.

I believe it is kept up to date, as VillainROM kitchen uses it as a source for the WaveSecure app (fetched each night to keep it up-to-date).
I've certainly never had any problems with it.
Excellent guide Pulser,... I should really reinstall Wavesecure now Im not using a MoDacO Custom ROM. Nice one bruv.
Found this to be helpful.

I just did a search in the Market fro 'wavesecure' and two things popped up WaveSecure and WaveSecure UninstallProtection Add-on which needs to be uninstalled before WaveSecure and if the add-on is uninstalled it is supposed to lock the phone. (all this is in the description I have yet to try)

How do you Uninstall apps that won't go away?

I am trying to re-install mskip's program to record both sides of a phone conversation in order to reset the relevant registry entries after a device hard reset. A message states that the old version of the program will be removed first. The next message says that the program was not fully removed and that the new installation failed. I can neither remove the remnants of it nor install a fresh version. I have tried manually deleting all references to the program with Resco Explorer and also tried to Uninstall with TMS Uninstaller but without success. Can you help?
Try removing it with SKTools.
I have this prg called clear temp on my old tilt and it works on my tilt 2 as well. has an opt to clean bad uninstalls. u can try it.
