Uninstalling programs from internal memory - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV ROM Development

Hi, Ive just hard reset my device (due to flashing unsigned HardSPL).
I have som apps installed on my internal memory that I would like to uninstall.
Theese apps dont show up in the program list and they arent found when I enter the "remove program"-menu.
How should I uninstall them?

That's it ??? Tha "apple" way?
And ppl says the Windows is complicated??
Thanks, seriously it's helpful.

after flashing, all the registry and "links" that the programs is building during the installation, are gone. that's why all you have to do is to delete the files and folders.
after reinstalling the programs the recommended way is to use "uninstall".
you can also get rid of a program that can not be uninstalled by deleting its files and manually deleting all his registry and shortcuts.

you can find them in the ROM, you need to extract them.
Hi!
I want get also some files from the rom. How I can access it? It found via Mobile Registry Editor an MSFlash entry with the flag "MountHidden" = 1 but I can't change this value (access denied).

correct me if i'm wrong, there should be something identical to ext-rom in Diamond, if not how can u even do a hard reset? meaning, all the cab files should be stored somewhere.. i've been looking high and low for this storage space but still in vain.. any expert out there who found this additional storage space, dun mind sharing it with us..

wrong, and wrong.
These devices no longer use ext-roms, when you hard reset the device, it only clears the PIM database and restores defaults. The SPL and the application that hard resets the device knows what to delete and what not to.
haha.. i see.. guess i haven't been updating myself for quite sometime .. thanks for your reply though ..
The .cab files loads from de windows directory, how kan I delete .cab files. The windows directory kan not be saved or delete.
I won't install only the cab file from Opera with a reboot

is there an app that totally clean all the files that remove program left behind?

as we know on Windows PC, ADD/REMOVE programs tends to leave some registry files or some small junk files behind in the System, and we had to clean those up using some 3rd party software ( example: Your Uninstaller! 2008 )
ok so is there any software that works like that for WM? or for X1?
or is the Remove Program that comes from WM default pretty much un-install all the registry or junk files along without leaving it behind, so it's like never been installed.., because i hate to have some un-associated left overs files on my Phone even if it's just 1kb
thanks.
With the sktools you can 'really remove' apps installed on the X1. I only use this method and it feels really better than before
how does it work? it removes all the associated files along till a very "clean" uninstall?
When you click that you want to uninstall a program, the application shows you every reg-string and file that is connected to the programm. Then you can choose to delete those.
sounds like a kick ass app
thanks!
hmm, ok i need a bit of a help here
so there are a list of the types here..
which one do i install...
WM 2003(SE), WM5/WM6 Classic and Professional, (W)QVGA and (W)VGA zipped PC Install
WM 2003(SE) (W)VGA zipped CAB file unzipped CAB
WM 2003(SE) (W)QVGA zipped CAB file unzipped CAB
WM5/WM6 (W)VGA zipped CAB file unzipped CAB
WM5/WM6 (W)QVGA zipped CAB file unzipped CAB
also they have standard, lite..
what are their differences?
the only freeware is the SK Lite..

de wolfe... I have the SKTools and I have no idea what is the difference between standard uninstall and uninstall. What is the difference?
Standard uninstall is what it sais, the same thing windows does. The uninstall SKtools provides does the more thorough job.
You'll need "WM5/WM6 (W)VGA zipped CAB file unzipped CAB" TweFoju.
ok thanks
and another thing
it's on trial and total of 6 entries only
do you know how to make it full version?
some sort of a serial number to activate it or something?
that would be so awesome
Come on, dude. The app costs around 10€. Good investment!

Yes, buy it! You may not ask for cracks, keygens or other illegal software here.
For your info, if you go to the SKKV site, they are currently offering 50% off their products including SKTOOLS.

I have no affliation, other than loving a bargain
alright, i decided to purchase it
so far so good
i only have a couple of newb questions left ( sorry, im not very advanced with these kind of stuffs )
all i want to know is, which of the category is safe to perform? at least for a beginner user like me that will not know what to do if something gone wrong
i mean like, there is a "Advanced Clean" that im not sure what it will delete
so far, i only used "Invalid Registry Entries", "Temporary and Junk Files", "Temporary amd Cache Folders" and of course the "Clean!"
i kinda wanna use the "Invalid Registry Values" and "Advanced Clean", but i dont know what will they delete..
i fear those 2 might delete some of the important files because the list that came out was like the Panel stuffs and all
and also i wanted to check the "Bad/Old Uninstall Info" part
but not sure what will it delete..
oh yeah and 1 more thing.. when on the "Installed Programs"
i saw some of the software that are pre-installed by SE have some 1 to 3 missing registry that is written in a red text.. is that some problem or it' just like that from the factory settings?
or is it better for me to re-install those particular software that are missing some files / registry ?
thanks again.. sorry if these are all silly questions
all i want to know is, which of the category is safe to perform? at least for a beginner user like me that will not know what to do if something gone wrong
Class I Unsafe:
Invalid Registry Entries
Invalid Registry Values
Notifications Queue
[These are dangerous because on some Xperia's they will probably delete the registry settings for Panel Manager ... they always delete my panel manager registry settings and make my panel manager not work]
[Notifications Queue ... I am not sure how unsafe it is to mess with it, but I think messing with it will make scheduled programs not work]
Class II Unsafe:
Registry Explorer
[it's not dangerous if you follow directions from pros or know exactly what you are doing]
Class III Unsafe:
Processes
Services
[if you terminate a process when it is doing something, you might cause data corruption...i terminated my media panel and it totally destroyed my library and prevented from updating the MP3, Pics, and Videos]
[services can be reverted back to original settings, unlike deleting invalid registries]
i mean like, there is a "Advanced Clean" that im not sure what it will delete
Advanced clean is absolutely safe
so far, i only used "Invalid Registry Entries", "Temporary and Junk Files", "Temporary amd Cache Folders" and of course the "Clean!"
When you deleting invalid registry entries, make sure you know deleting that entry actually is the right thing to do. If you have no idea what it does then don't delete it....
You can undo it right now by tapping on SKTools Backup
i kinda wanna use the "Invalid Registry Values" and "Advanced Clean", but i dont know what will they delete..
Advance clean is totally safe, and invalid registry values are not at all
and also i wanted to check the "Bad/Old Uninstall Info" part
Safe
i saw some of the software that are pre-installed by SE have some 1 to 3 missing registry that is written in a red text.. is that some problem or it' just like that from the factory settings?
It's missing values and you wouldn't know why, just ignore it if you're program works. I have alot of these and I have no problem
thanks for that man!! but how do we know if the registry is the panel one? i found the registrybackup folder on "My Documents"
well so far, the registry cleaner only delete 14 registry files... and i have no idea what registry file it belongs to
if only i could rep, i would
Well I try to look up for the date in which I deleted the registry.
um? sorry i dont get your meaning
what does the deletion date has anything to do ?
what i meant is that, i deleted some registry
but how do i know if which registry belong to which app?
because they are just all written in some numbers like {AIU123456} so on and on

{AIU123456} means that the registry key is called {AIU123456}. I could be wrong. Try opening \my documents\registrybkup and copy a .rgb file into the PC and see if you can view it as a notepad.

Deleting from the Program list

I have used Settings>System>Remove Programs to remove a game but it did not totally remove everything and the program name still exists in the program list displayed in the Remove Programs app. Can I access the list and manually delete it?
Think you need to navigate to WINDOWS->START MENU->PROGRAMS there should be a bunch on .lnk files those lnk files drive the program list
nope, that doesn't do it
The .lnk files seem to be shortcuts to the main programs. The program I'm trying to delete from the Program list that appears in the Remove Programs app doesn't even have a shortcut there. Meaning that this Program list must be located somewhere else. Does anyone know where?
What happens when you try to uninstall it again?
I get a message that reads "...was not completely removed. Do you wish to remove it from the list of installed programs?" If I say "Yes", it still does not remove it.
you may want to give the program a try:
Tms Uninstaller: Will allow you to delete programs that don't show up in the normal remove programs. Direct download in link. (freeware) ~ Thanks Senax
I stumbled across that the other day while trolling for apps n tweaks...you can find the info and cab file here in the 1st post of " Software worth installing on the TP2 *Continuously Updated, links in thread* [Nov 25] " Thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550973
I havent used the program...i just remembered seeing it and thought mabe it could help ya...
Peace...
Thanks
Thanks. That program did it. Nice little app for removing programs. It said it had to delete something from the Registry. Maybe the Program list is there somehow??
No. It's back!
Spoke too soon. That app seemed to remove the program from the list but it's reappeared! Can anyone help?
lmao...that sucks...attempt to reinstall it then delete it...
You've got company
I too am dealing w/this issue. I've even resorted to deleting everything related in the registry to no avail! Now I cannot find the cab for DHR CommMgrPro. I was going to try to installing & uninstalling again. POOP!!

TMobile 6.5

I am trying to uninstall programs that TMobile added to there new update. I tried TMS Uninstaller but it only recognized the cabs i loaded just like my remove programs.
Does Anyone have a different uninstaller?

Unfortunately, programs that are built into a stock rom like that have to be removed manually (without an uninstaller). There's two basic steps to this:
1) Delete all files related to the program from /program files, /application data, and /windows/start menu
2) Delete all keys (references) to the program from the registry, you'll need to search to be sure you find them all.

I'm not much help, but you may want to change the name of your thread to something like "Uninstall preloaded programs" or something like that to get more attention.

How to determine where programs are installed?

Ok this might seem like a total noob question, but please bare with me for a quick sec...
I have a stock 6.5/2.1 TP2 and I somehow ran completely out of internal memory! I couldn't even receive texts. I know I have lots and lots of text messages, about 1000 contacts, and a few emails on my phone, but I have NO media whatsoever stored on the phone. In fact, I only have a couple visible files on the phone that are larger than 1MB. I did delete a bunch of visual voicemails and that got me about 10MB back. I ran a level 3 Clean Ram, message purge, soft reset, all that jazz but I still have less than 11MB left. Where is all my storage space going?!
Anyhoo I did install some programs to my internal memory, but can someone tell me if there's a way to tell which programs are installed to your phone memory and which are installed to your external storage??? That was really my question
U can use "Installed programs" option in SK Tools.
You can check the "\storage card\program files\" folder, and see what's in there; that's the location where programs end up, if they are installed to the storage card.

Thanks guys. I appreciate it!
when installing a program, it should ask you where you would want to install a program, on the device or on your memory card. Install on yoour memory card in order to leave your internal memory available.
dont forget to clear out cache in opera or IE because that takes chunks of internal memory out

Not allways, some programs bz default installs at internal memory, and some programs are recommanded to install at internal memory......

Good idea. I didn't even think of that. I do it all the time for my desktop browser but it never occurred to me to do it on my phone. I cleared my Opera cache and got about 30MB back!
That should hold me over for awhile, at least until I flash my next rom I use my internal memory mostly just for PIM and important apps like Opera.
I remember awhile back, a guy wrote a program that automatically deleted bloatware from stock AT&T rom's. I searched and to my knowledge no one has done the same for T-Mobile or other rom's. Does anyone know of such a program or a method of deleting apps that won't show up in uninstall menus?

There are advanced settings in Opera that allow one to set the cache to the storage card. Do a search.
