Hey everyone,
I'm not new to flashing my Hermes. I'm just having an issue I've never ran into and can't figure out. I would appreciate some assistance.
The strangest thing is happening to me while attempting to flash from my storage card. I put the phone in bootloader mode and it takes (IPL-1.04 / SPL-2.10.olipro). Then on the bottom Serial shows and it never goes to the next step and ask me do I want to flash the new image.
I put the att original on the 2gb storage card over and over and over and renamed it HERMIMG.nbh over and over and over and just am flabbergasted. The phone is not bricked, it just refuses to flash again.
Does anyone here have any solutions or suggestions?
PS - I have formatted the card to fat32 and I have checked it for errors. The HERMIMG.nbh file is on the root of the storage card.

I've recently ran into a problem where i cannot access my memory card on my dash.
I was playing around with my friends phone and wanted to see if i could send him some mp3's but bluetooth didn't work, so i decided to take out my microsd card out of my dash and put it in his phone.
I couldn't find the storage space on his phone so i asked him to look for it. He found it and the phone couldn't read the card so it prompted him to format and before i could say no, he clicked yes.
I put the card back into my dash and tried to boot up but failed, got stuck on the startup screen. Im guessing its because i have so many startup programs stored on my storage card. So i performed a hard reset and it no longer got stuck at the startup screen.
Now the problem is that when i go to my file explorer, it won't detect my microsd card. Is this caused by the hard reset or perhaps because my friend decided to format my memory card on his phone?
Any help would be appreciated as to how to save my memory card. Maybe i just need to go buy a new card, just thought I would ask on the forum before i did that.
So if it doesnt detect it, no option to format it, right?
I would but it in a pc and see if it detects it. If it does, format it to Fat or Fat32 and put it back in your phone and see what happens.
I've got a Tilt 2 with hard spl and can flash from my desktop no problem. I'd like to get the flashing via SD card going, but it's hanging.
I've got the nbh file copied to the root of my SD card, get the phone into bootloader, but I see a message flash up about no image. It's very quick though and then the phone hangs in the bootloader. A soft reset fixes it and the phone boots up.
I'm clearly missing something and can't figure out for the life of me what it is.
The image file is named correctly. It was copied to the phone through WMDC to the SD card. Should I put the phone into disk mode a copy the image over?
The SD card is formated in Fat 32.
Any thoughts/Advise?
Thanks.
maybe..
i had this issue before - check your .nbh file with total commander, or put it in your pc and check it. if you name it .nbh with the wm file explorer, it actually ends up RHODIMG.nbh.nbh - solution is just to remove one .nbh!
:::Whimper:::
I'm having this exact same problem!
My RHODIMG file is named correctly and in the root directory (there is nothing else on the SD card either), but I get that same EXTREMELY BRIEF message about no IMG file and then it hangs at the bootloader screen with 'Serial' in the white box on the bottom.
I've even tried using Mobile Flasher, but nothing is working. I
What am I missing??? I've tried it many times already, formatted my card a few times and loaded the RHODIMG file again, but nothing! My Rhodium will NOT connect via USB anymore, so I need to flash via SD card.
Help!
Debbie
I actually don't even rename the file, it's already got that name from the rom. It's e2 manilla 2.5 rom.
I'll try and transfer the file to the card when the phone in disk mode and see if that makes a difference...
O-M-G(!), this is *so* freakin' wacky!!!
I just switched SD cards to one that was larger (8GB rather than the 2GB), that had tons of stuff on it, then copied the RHODIMG file in the root, and then ran 'enablerapinew.cab' again, just for the hell of it...
Damned device found the RHODIMG file there from the bootloader and the update ran as expected, but not on the 2GB card with nothing else on it! WTH?!
Device says that the update is complete, so I'm booting up now and will do a few resets and then perform the tedious task of setting up my Tilt 2, etc.
Don't know whether the cab (thought I only had to run this once when Hard SPLing?) or the different card was what caused it to work, but I hope this helps someone else with the same problem. Whew!

...Who's back in business!
SOLVED!
I don't know what caused the magic, but I was able to flash from SD card... FINALLY!
Here's what I did: Flashing Via SD Card Assistance
Hope this helps others!

No, this did not work for me. I tried installing the cab again, but no luck, just passes on by saying no image.
Delete image off sd card, reformat FAT32 and copy image back on... I have had this problem myself, it seems that when the .nbh file copies it doesn't register on the card properly or something. Either deleting the file then re-copying seems to work but I still like to reformat too..... DON'T just copy over the top of the image file... THIS DOESN'T WORK... leads to a lot of hair pulling frustration...
Cheers...
So I tried a reformat of the card, just a quick one, not full. Still didn't work. I downloaded another image to try out, the lastest Energy rom, to flash on a completely blank card. That didn't work.
So, I went and got an older card, 8 gig, that is currently being used in a camera. The one I use now is a 16 gig card. This one worked fine.
Conclusions being perhaps a 16 gig card won't work for flashing?
brands
i have heard of certain brands having sizes that didn't work for flashing, for whatever reason. It was a long time ago on my kaiser, so i don't remember which it was, but kingston 2gb comes to mind. like i said, don't know if that is accurate, but there definitely were some that just wouldn't work. perhaps a different brand 16gb?
Well, I used the other memory stick, a Scandisk and this worked fine. Must be something with the 16 gig Kingston disk as it just will not work.
Alright, I've been following a guide to root my G1 (won't let me post the link because I'm a new user...), and I didn't back up the files that were on the SD card. the guide says to format the microSD card to FAT-32, which it already was, so I decided to skip that step and I left the files that were already there on the card. next I downloaded the dreaimg.nbh file and immediately copied it to the microSD card. what I didn't realize was that the file wasn't finished downloading when I copied it to the microSD card, so that's probably what is ****ing up my phone right now. I tried to flash the image and that obviously failed, so I did what the guide told me to and re-formatted the card and re-downloaded the dreaimg.nbh file (completely this time).
Now whenever I try to flash the image from the microSD card the phone says it cannot find an image and goes back to the home screen. I can't boot up the phone normally now, and I've tried restoring the phone to factory settings with no luck. how do I fix this and root the phone properly? thanks in advance.
to be more specific, it's stuck on the bootloader screen
can nobody help...?
I can't access the recovery anymore, can't connect it for disk drive. ROM MGR can't open the card either. I have Clockwork Recovery & I don't know what to do to get the card back to normal. Suggestions please? How will I access my Root if it's stored on this card? Don't know what to do......
Thanks in Advance...
Sometimes a file on my sd card will become corrupt, causing it to mount read only. I'm wondering if you meant to say your card was read only? If so, try plugging your card into a computer and copying the contents to the PC. If an error pops up about a file, delete that file from the card and you should be good to go. If no error happens, make a backup of the card, then reformat the card on your PC, pop it into your phone and format it again under settings->sdcard. Then just copy the contents from your PC back onto it.
Since this my first post I can't provide a link. This is a copy and paste from a different forum. Worked for me and I didn't have to reformat:
"I approached it without reformatting. I took the SD card out and loaded it into a card reader and looked at the file system on the card. One of my subdirs in my Music directory was corrupted and I wasn't able to delete the folder.
So I right clicked on the removable drive and went to properties.
From there I clicked on the TOOLS tab and then on the CHECK NOW button for error checking.
I ran this a few times until I was finally able to kill the remaining files in that subdir.
I then reloaded the card and everything seems ok, except I need to reload my music."

Thanks. Both of these I have noted & will try. I appreciate You Guys taking time to help.... GOD Bless!
I was wondering if another Desire user could help me out. I had a bit of a problem with my phone and had to switch it off and remove my micro sd card, but when I plugged it into my computer with an adapter there was no useful information on it for me to get back. This either means that this is standard and the micro sd card can only be read properly when the sd card is in the Desire and then plugged in. Or that my sd card has an error.
Could someone please help with this and let me know what files they can see when they put their micro sd card into their computer directly.
The picture is what I see.
Run Checkdisk (chkdsk) then file restoring software, to recover your files.
Then Re-format the card. Happened to me once, everything got meesed up. Re-format helped.

Checkdisk isnt a recovery software, but I ran it already, and I tried the recovery program but I cant seem to be recovering anything but more useless information, I dont know if the data is lost or if its still on the card but only readable through the desire itself.
Can someone please do what I said in my original post and let me know what they can see with just the micro sd card in the computer
Thanks
CHKDSK is scans for harddrive damage and it DOES recover the files, but with the .chk extension.
These are the files on my SD:
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
If thats the case then thanks for letting me know.
I ran chkdsk like this.
Plugged in the micro sd card in the computer, went to my computer and right clicked the SD card, clicked properties, went to tools and then error checking.
Selected both the check for system errors and scan for bad sectors. Started it and 2 seconds later it closes and doesnt actually do anything taht I can see. I go back to the sd card and still nothing has changed.
Where should it be putting the recovered .chk files?
Cant wond scan via windows, so i did it by cmd. Said it couldnt convert threads as there is no room. So I'm guessing I have to format it first. I hope this doesnt get rid of my files permanently, I didnt have any other copies of my contacts or anything, and phone is completely broken.
