Anyone having issues with internet connection with rhodium? Certain websites are not for WAP, but some how the phone seems to connect automatically using WAP.
The same webpage (wap.getmsl.com) cannot open on rhodium but can be opened in tytn 2 using the same sim card. Tytn 2 is using WM 6.1 and rhodium is using EnergyROM_21885_RHODIUM_31.Dec.2009_Standard. Am asking this because the developer of a stock trading software has asked me to try opening the webpage, if it opens then ISP is not blocking the IP.
The stock trading software cannot seem to connect to the internet. I am currently based in Shanghai, China. Using the China Mobile sim card inside touch pro2 cannot seem to connect to the internet. But using a Malaysia (Celcom3G) sim card in the touch pro 2 it can connect.
Is there anything that is blocking this internet connection on the touch pro 2?

Hi,
picked up a shiny new MDA III yesterday afternoon having switched providers - number transfer in progress - so I'm new to both the handset and the provider.
Managed to get the unit hooked up to my home WiFi network pertty simply etc and got the Active Sync sorted etc.... other than the fact the GRPS isn't configured out of the box, I've got a single major bugbear to sort.
That is that I don't seem to be able to get MSN Messenger to connect.
It's exhibiting exactly the same symptoms suggested here.... http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;832515
... but obviously the refers to a previous OS version ?
So, either I have something to fix or unlock in the set-up, the port is blocked on the handset (works fine on my laptop on the same WiFi through the same firewall) ?
Had a search through the forums, but to no avail. Can anyone help me on this ?
Are there any recommended patches/fixes I should have installed straight from the off ?
Thanks in advance !
Matt
OK, just so you you don't think I'm totally clueless, from what I've just been reading in the T-Mobile online manual, I have to have the GPRS connection open to connect to Messenger.
Is this right ? Surely if I have a active WiFi connection is should be able to connect using that, right ? Will it connect via GPRS and then pass it over to WiFi ?
I'll have to check it when I get home to see if I can resolve it in that way.
Any other tips gratefully received !
Matt
I'm using Messenger with a CSD (GSM) connection because it's part of my allowance. Sorry but I haven't tried WiFi yet.
I'm having the same problem.
MSN Messenger works fine using GPRS but fails to login using my Wifi connection.
What's even weirder is that it works ok when docked (ActiveSync)!!!
I'm using MDA III on T-Mobile (UK)
Anyone got any ideas?
I've tried replicating this issue, but on my XDA IIs over WiFi, it connects to messenger no problem... it doesn't even try to initiate a GPRS connection first. I can only assume that the MDA III is configured slightly differently out of the box.
As a thought, you might want to double-check Connection Manager and see which type of connection is set for programs that automatically connect to the internet
Ok, home and finished doing the set-up.
I've found no way of using MSN by any other protocol than GPRS. If you are WiFi atached and attempt to use MSN, then it will drop the WiFi connection and instead pick up GPRS. And obviously you're on for .075p per kb... which might be the real answer in why T-Mobile have set-up the device in this way.
The 'programs that automatically connect to the internet' doesn't seem to allow you to select WiFi as the default connection, only the range of GSM/GPRS options and the 'My Work' one.
Should I use the 'My Work' VPN option and set that up to use WiFi ?
If anyonebody has got any tips on how to set or hack this... seems there are a few of us that might benefit !
Just out of curiosity: if you go into your WiFi manager, have you specifically told the device that the WiFi card in your MDA III connects you to "The Internet"?
I can't recall whether that was the default setting before I set up my wireless network connection on my IIs... it seems like such a no-brainer, but it could assume that your WiFi connection is to a work network etc.
I'm at work and it 's at home.... but I'm adamant that that it knows that the WiFi connection connects to the Intanet. As you say, I think that it is the default setting
However, I will check !
Any other MDA III owners shed any light on this ?
Apologies if this has been asked before but I couldn't find an answer.
Background:
I originally bought a MDA Compact III (HTC P3300) from T-mobile. Downloaded, installed and registered Pocket MSN and am able to log into MSN messenger and retrieve Hotmail mail.
Got fed up with GPRS and decided to buy a P3600 (from HTC) mainly cos of 3G and WiFi. I have an unlimited data plan.
Problem:
I inserted my SIM card into the P3600 (downloaded and installled Pocket MSN - not registered as i have paid for it already) and now I'm unable to log into Pocket MSN.
I get the following error when trying to log into MSN Messenger or do a send/recieve from my Hotmail account.
"Temporary conditions currently prevent connecting to the Pocket MSN service"
and then get the following message:
"Logon to MSN Messenger Service failed because the service is not responding. Please try later."
But when I put the SIM card back into the MDA Compact III it all works fine.
Spoke to t-mobile and they say it must be a setting on the phone thats preventing me from logging in, and suggest that I speak to HTC.
Spoke to HTC and they say it must be a problem with my service provider
I'm inclined to believe t-mobile as it does work on the MDA Compact III.
I've tried other apps such as IM+ and recieve similiar connection error messages. But connecting over Wifi it all works fine
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
How are you logging in to pocket MSN? The only way I could log on to it was connecting to my laptop through activesync and using my cable internet connected to it.
are you connecting through GPRS/EDGE
you mention that you can connect through wifi but not directly (Iassume by GPRS/Edge/3g
if you've bought the handset sim free then you will need to add these settings into the handset. T-Mob would be able to supply you with these details to add in your connection settings and that should resolve the problem.

Try using HTC Network wizard
Using a o2 xda iis and it connects to GPRS but when i try to browse it says locating then the page cannot be found check the name and try again. Is this because I have 1 or 2 bars as signal? I have Windows Mobile 6.5 and the latest radio.

Hi. I was wondering if anyone could help me out with my connection problems. I have a touch pro 2 with Winmo 6.5 running the energy rom. I don't have a data plan so in connections I changed the preferred networks for programs to "my work network." The problem is that when I connect to my home network through wifi, neither of the installed browsers work. I have opera 10 and skyfire and they both can't connect. Am I missing something? Thanks for any help.
It's been a while since I used Tilt 2, but I think you need to change proxy setting in Setting and connection. I could be off, but I seem to remember that being an issue.
I have two phones - HTC Touch Pro 2 with native Sprint service and grandfathered plan of 450 anytime and unlimited internet and the other is a Samsung Galaxy Note II using MVNO (Ringplus) service with unlimited talk and text but only 400 MB data. I have an app on HTC Touch Pro 2 called xda-wifi-sharing which when enabled uses Sprint's 3G network and forms a peer network with WEP protection key and I use it sometimes to connect my laptop for internet browsing with an OK connection speed. My laptop can recognize the peer network and easily connect to it thereby satisfying my need of wireless internet connectivity. So for saving on the data on my Samsung Galaxy Note II's data usage, I tried to connect it to the xda-wifi peer network created by the HTC Touch Pro II but that particular SSID does not even appear in my Samsung G N II's wifi networks. I'm running CWM M9 build on a rooted Samsung G N II with CWM 6.4.0.3 recovery. Can somebody please suggest if
1. The AOSP ROMs can idenity and/or connect to peer networks ?
2. If yes to question1, then what procedure should I follow to connect to such peer networks ?
Basically, I'm looking forward to using my native Sprint service through HTC Touch Pro 2 with the XDA-Wifi-Sharing app that creates a peer Wifi network, that my Samsung Galaxy Note II can connect to and use for internet browsing rather than using the limited 400 MB bandwidth allocated throught the MVNO i.e RingPlus.
Is your Samsung able to recognize other Wi-Fi networks?

Yes Harsha.. I can successfully connect to other "infrastructure" mode networks on my Samsung GN II without any issues. I can also connect to Sprint's own 4G LTE (provided thru. MVNO Ringplus) without any issues. Its only this peer-peer network that is initiated by the XDA-Wifi-Sharing app residing on my HTC TP 2 that I cannot connect to. Forget about connecting, the Samsung GN II can not even see that network's SSID.
Did you try adding your peer networks SSID manually?
:good:

Yes.. I did.. but no luck. The network is transmitting the SSID and my computer can detect it but my Samsung GN II cannot. So that means the phone just can't detect any peer adhoc networks. Was wondering if there was some other way to do this.
