where to put file? - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

hi everyone ,can some one tell me how to make a custom notification tone ?i use the mp3 trimer to make my reg ringtone.but i can only use it in phone ring tones.it don't show up under notification/alarm tone, just ring tones!i have sounds on my sd card.but i don't know were to move them to or how to. so i can use them i figure file manger can move them or threw active sink on my computer.well thankyou for all your help !

after trimming your MP3 media, place it here
My Device > Application Data > Sounds
You can also place them on the Storage Card, but if the phone is in USB Drive mode, you'll lose the use of these files and the phone resets to default media and ringtones if and when the phone wants to use it and can't find it.

sweet ,thankyou very much. have a good new year!!!!!!

texttone
thanks for the info i now have custom text tones. my question is.. is there a way to set the tone that rings for a specific contact to sound when they text?

mp3 patch

can anyone give me the link to download the mp3 patch that allows my 9090 to use mp3 as ringtone.
bye
Depending on what ROM you are using you can do it anyway! Just copy/paste the mp3 file in the Windows\Rings folder ;-).
i've just copied the mp3 into the ring folder, but it doesn't work.
I remember that exist a patch to do it.
I will help you...
Here it is...
That's it!
Thank you
bye

I have similar problem - Wavs rings cut off
Sorry I can't help you, I have a similar problem with WAVs,
My problem is, I use 16bit 11khz WAVs for ringtones and they cut out just as they begin, I've missed so many calls I had to get another phone, i'm a bit of a music producer & NORMALISED the samples so they are LOUD as possible OR I wont hear them in the busy city, they are about 3 second loops. I think I'm just tearing out the battery or CPU or both, but it is 98% charged! Could it be the LENGTH of the sample? My old Sony J5 used to do this same problem. If I reduce the volume I won't hear it and still cuts out, sometimes I have to Soft-Reset in order to get it to play at all :/ same with bluetooth headset. So I must try Mp3s but sounds like same thing happens from the previouse post. What are best Bitrates and Lengths for MP3s?
Just found the mp3 patch will try that as well.
I think my battery is running out faster as I just changed to 1.13 radio ROM, check my sig if your a major techie. HELLPPP!!
XDA jack of all trades master of none!..
Knightmare please help!
I don't believe my BAD LUCK! I applied the Unidirectional Patch and the MP3 rings patch , because I get ran them both and reset, Now the Screen is all messed up, the OWNER INFO SCREEN is all fragged up, and wont refresh to to propper display, tried soft reset, what can I do??
ANSWER: HARD RESET, MAKE SURE REGIONAL SETINGS ARE CORRECT. RESTORE FROM BACKUP. DON'T USE MP3 As Rings Patch OR Uniderectional Patch. I have just emailed [email protected] about this, but there firmware is so old and bad i dont hold much hope,
SOLUTION: had to buy a new phone that WORKS!
Can I use mp3's for notification with new textmessage???
or just wav files?
To use another file where do I have to put it??

It's a Software conflict
 Yeah ... i think i know ur problem ... ther must be a software that u installed that is causing a conflict.
my BA wouldn't inform me if i recieved an sms and i found out that the program Effy-CJ with fonts 3.1 was the culprit ... :x
i uninstall it and all is well.
try going thru ur software installations to check which one is causing your MP3 ringtone not to play.
one thing though, even if i can set an Mp3 as my ringtone, how cum i cannot set Mp3 to notify me of sms or mms ???

I installed the cab file but I cannot see my mp3 files at any list. Can anyone explain how to select an mp3 file as a ringtone? Thanx.
find them in File explore,
bring up the drop down menu for the file,
Option, 'Set as ringtone' should there select it,
the mp3 will be copied to your '/windows/ring' folder
and set as ring tone.
thanxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I installed the englishmp3ringtone cab file and i was able to find the mp3 in explorer and under the sub menu I chose "set as ringtone" and even after a restart it's not set as the tone. Is there anything else I need to do?
I found out that after installing PocketMind Pocket Music the mp3asringtone cab was disabled. after removing the program the problem disappeared.
Quick question guys, does this patch and MP3 ring thing only work for wn2k3 or can it be equaly used on wm2k5?

Can use custom Notification Sound, but not Ringtone

I copied a group of .wav files that I use for custom rings and txt message sounds and such to my SD card. The files show up as options when I set the "notification" sound, but do not show up when I try to set the phone ringtone. Am I missing something here? Is there a special place I have to copy the files in order to use them as "phone" ringtones?
Just find the file in the music app, open the file you want, hit menu and select "set as ringtone"
Thanks! It's weird that you have to do that in such a roundabout way.
how are you setting them for text message tones?
try Rings Extended app
lets u choose any audio file on your card to set for a ringer or anything else
havent used ring extender, but ringdroid lets you take clips out of your music as well and then save them as whatever type of notification you want.

[Q] Desire won't retain custom ringtone

I've got a number of MP3 ringtones saved in the media/ringtone folder on my SD card.
Once upon a time, I could assign one of these as a primary ringtone and that's what I'd get when someone called. For the past few months, however when I assign an MP3 in Settings/Sounds/Phone Ringtone it reverts to a stock ringtone--''Windchime" I think it's called. Not unpleasant, but not what I want to hear.
I don't have the same problem with notifications or alarms, although I use the same MP3 files for those--can anyone help me sort it?
Make a folder on your sd card and name it Ringtones and all tones you put inside your phone will recognize as ringtones from settings.
Do the same for alarms and ringtones.

Thanks nlooooo, but I've done that and my MP3 files reside in just such a folder on the SD card. When I set a custom ringtone, either in Sounds or by long pressing music and designating the ringtone I want, the selected ringtone will work once, maybe twice, but a couple hours later is back to the Windchime.

[Q] Add my own Notification sound without root

How can I add my own Notification sounds without root?
I noticed when changing your ring tone there is an ADD button. But there isn't one for notifications. I would like to change the sounds based on the app, different sound for email and another for texts and facebook and so on. Except I want my own sound I've created on my PC. I reied with Root Explorer but it says I'm not rooted so I can't ad to the notification folder.
I did a search and I've noticed the link below but I'm not sure how that helps. The notifications are deep in the folders in the storage not on the sd card.

You can download this app
http://apps.audiko.net no root needed just need to have open source. It let's you search for ring tones or notification sounds. If they don't have the sound you're looking for you can go to that Site on your computer upload the sound clip and it will turn it into the format you need for your phone, then click download on your computer, plug in your phone to your computer, open your phones folder, find the notification folder, drag and drop that sound file, close and check your notification sounds on your phone and its should be there.
This worked for me when I was taking a sound from my I phone and putting it on this phone. If the sound says, .caf just rename it to mp3 snd upload it to that site.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda premium
1) Encode the sounds to the ogg format
2) connect your phone to your PC and open the phone (not sdcard) folder
3) If it doesn't already exist, create a folder called "Notifications"
4) Drop your new .ogg format sounds in that Notifications folder.
That's it - Assuming they are valid files, they'll now be available for selection when using the system's media picker for notification sounds.

why is my ringtone reverting to the default?

This is a strange one.
I have uploaded some songs onto my phone's memory (not SD card) and set one of them to be my ringtone for all contacts.
It works OK for a while, and then suddenly when someone calls me, I hear the default ringtone of the device (instead of the one I set)...
Then, when I go to the device's Sound & Notifications settings, I see that the ringtone that's displayed as the selected one is still the one I manually selected, but when i try to play it, it plays the default phone ringtone instead.
I can only get the real song to play after i remove it from the list and re-add it.
Any ideas?
I already turned the Ringtone ID setting off, and I have no SD card installed on the device.

It happened both when saved contacts and unsaved numbers called me.
Thing is that when I go to the Sound & Notifications settings, my selected ringtone now plays the default ringtone instead of the correct song. -:0
My selected ringtone is called "Stone the Crow".
When I go to the Sound & Notifications settings I see that this song is still selected, but when I click to play it, it plays the default device ringtone instead of Stone the Crow...

The songs are standard mp3 format, but I'll give it a shot and notify -
Ok, so I think the issue is solved, following your suggestion.
There are several possible reasons, in case any one else ever has the same issue.
My original files' extensions were in caps (MP3) and were transferred to the phone via Airdroid to the Music folder.
My fix was that i converted my MP3 to a FLAC file and saved it without caps. I also saved the file in the download folder instead of the music folder.
For now it has been over 24 hours without the ringtone being reset, so I'm guessing it was either the MP3 format, the extension or the music folder...
Thanks! -
