Ok, here is my problem... And I will try to get pics tomorrow. But, I have a cracked screen, sort of... Definite crack... Touch Screen works perfectly... LCD is not damaged... What part of the phone is cracked? And can I get this replaced without paying the $100 deductible?
it is your digitizer and depends on the carrier..if you have tMo go luck...all others you can buy the digitizer but installation is a whole other ball of wax. you best know what you are doing to swap it. you can buy the digitizer on fleabay for about 35 bucks
how can it be the digitizer???? his touch screen works! I have no idea what is cracked if both the display and touch screen works
Rick
post up some pics?

Hey guys, i read through a couple of threads about cacked screens but im still a little confused. i droped my phone and the bottom half of the screen cracked, i can still use the phone without any problems. so do i need a digitizer or new lcd??
digitizer is the glass part that you touch, lcd is the screen itself. If you can see a full picture, then the lcd is fine.

Ok thanks, my phone is still in perfect working condition. just the glass is all cacked up, so now i need to find a cheap digitizer..
Ebay

My friend found one off amazon for like $13-15 I can't remember. I looked it up too and it was about the same. He didn't have any issues replacing the glass either. If you have the insurance you might try a sprint store, or a authorized sprint store. I bought a Epic fro ma coworker and it had a cracked screen, took it to the repair place and they did it for free. (after making the phone my wifes main phone)
I need an advice, my phone just fell out of my palm and it's screen is completely shattered. The touch screen is fully functional but the screen shows orange-ish dots. Is the the LCD or the broken glass just presses it?
Screen repair here costs ~500 bucks, which I ofcourse refuse to pay.
TL;DR:
What should I order to fix it myself , and is it worth it?
(LCD + touch screen? )
Also, if I order the OEM one.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-OE...872?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f1ae6a558
will it be the original LCD2 the HOX has?

ยท 110% Brand New (In the ebay advert)! THAT MADE ME CHUCKLE !!
I would ask the ebayer, not us about the LCD2 screen
And if I was you, I wouldn't even bother going anywhere near repairing it yourself, unless you have experience. They are so complex its unreal.
Good luck !
Another question, when my iPod touch cracked I tried to replace the glass... it didn't turn out well. I only ordered the digitizer , at the end it was attached to the LCD.
Anyone knows if it's the same with the HOX? Really can't afford a 500$ repair now.

yeah they are attached normally, hox, the glass is attached to the screen.
my dhd when smashed, was declared beyond economical repair.
its only really if the screen isn't smashed too badly that you might be able to warm it up enough to loosen the glue, but you'll probably damage the lcd itself in the process. and then you'll probably bugger up re attaching the new glass. even htc buggered it up with the yellow spots etc on lots of the early models
you're better off getting the whole screen with glass. it will be fiddly, but there are a few teardown guides for hox, and if you research this enough, and make sure you have the right tools for the job, it should be fine.
if i was in your situation, i would try it .. but i would make a million % sure that the screen i was buying was a genuine screen.

Hey guys, this is my first post and unfortunately it's a somber one.I am not sure where to put this so I put it in Q&A.
I had my phone less than 12 hours and the screen shattered the first time it touch the ground. I have insurance through AT&T, but the deductible is 200.
I have noticed that ebay sells the screen by itself for like 35 bucks, but I'm not sure if it's JUST the screen that is broken. What's the difference between a broken screen, lcd and/or digitizer?
Would I be able to get away with replacing just the screen? Do I need to replace the digitizer as well? Would I be better off going through insurance and paying 200, ugh?
I'm so bummed and I'm not sure what to do.

If ur glass is broken u can still see your screen... if glass plus digitizer is broken screen will not work I'm pretty sure... It goes glass, adhesive, digitizer, adhesive and then frame if I'm correct.

I am presuming I'm hosed, and replacing the glass will not get me going, given that not only is the screen cracked, but no response to touch.
Is that the case?

The glass covering the LCD is the digitizer. If it doesn't respond to touch, the digitizer or the internal digitizer connection to the mobo could be damaged.
Can you see any images? If not, you would need to replace the LCD as well.
Replacing the LCD and digitzer is not guaranteed to get the phone going because there could be internal damage.

The display unit has three layers bonded together. The LCD, a digitizer and the exterior glass. If you can see a normal picture, but there is no response to touch it sounds like your digitizer is broken as well as the exterior glass. just replacing the exterior glass will not fix the touch problem. You're probably looking at about $100 in labour either way, plus parts. The glass is cheap, $5 or $10 on Ebay or Amazon. But the digitizer is another $50 - $150, so it may be cost prohibitive to repair your phone unless you are doing the repair yourself.
If you are really lucky, it could just be a loose connection, but I'll bet that your digitizer needs to be replaced. Another possible option worth exploring is to phone Samsung and ask if they have a flat rate for out of warranty repairs. They do in some areas and that may turn out to be your best option. If you end up doing that, note that you'll actually get a replacement i.e. refurbished phone, not your original phone returned to you after being repaired.
.
Thanks. I suspect you are right. I'm going to go the insurance route then.
I have had a bad luck and my phone fell out of my pocket and got cracks on the screen, i think its digitizer because the picture is all perfect inside the screen otherwise the liquid would have defiantly came out of the LCD!!!
I have tried pressing on the cracked class and see if liquid comes out or it forms a black spot or anything but nothing happened!!!
The combo of LCD & Digitizer costs 2500-4000 Indian Rupees while only 800Rs for Digitizer so i am thinking of only buying figitizer from ebay but i dont know any way to separate the LCD & Digitizer
Anyone have any idea on doing that and how can i put the digitizer back on LCD?
Thanks!
P.S. The touch is working perfectly even when cracked heavily!
