Is there any way to make the stock 6.5 ROM (RUU_Rhodium_S_HTC_Europe_1.86.401.0_Radio_Rhodium_4.49.25.17_Signed_Ship.exe) display 4 columns instead of 3 on the "honeycomb" start menu, the same way most of the custom 6.5.3 ROMS do?
I tried a couple .CAB's that were supposed to do this, but none of them had any effect. Does anyone know of a way to do this that has been confirmed to work on the above mentioned ROM? Thanks!

I am playing around with some of the ROMs available from different developers on this forum and was wondering, when you flash a new ROM is there a config/settings file that sets up the different parameters on the PPC?
I would love to be able to customise a ROM that automatically installed the CABs I want plus set up the environment variables such as ringtone+vibrate, today screen items, theme etc..

"Black Shadow Video Dial CONFIGURATION
For those of you who want Video Dial Capabilities on your Black Shadows you need to install the following:
BACKUP FIRST!!!!!
1. Install Part1.CAB then Soft Reset
2. Install Part2.CAB DONT Soft Reset (press cancel after it is installed --> then go to the next step)
3. Install Part3.CAB then Soft Reset
YOU MUST FOLLOW THE ABOVE EXACTLY TO THE LETTER OTHERWISE IT WONT WORK.

Once the above procedure is completed, it takes around 2mb of storage space.
This video dialer is the one found on Black Dymond 3.5 and the benefit is that I have made it compatable with

(Note: uninstalling the zombie skins may cause your video button to dissapear therefore to change your zombie skin, just reinstall another)
Once you have successfuly installed the 3g Video DIaler, the "3G Video Dialer" functionality
in Pimp my Black v0.2 works, hence you can enable and disable the 3g Video Dialer (but the non-video dialer
is the basic WM6 one)
Apologies for taking long on this, I was actually trying to port a dialer that matches the current NON-VIDEO one in the Shadow.
This was unsuccessful due to complication with incompatable DLL's for video telephony etc.
NOTE: Once you have completed this procedure you will permanently lose (well until you HR) the DEFAULT SHADOW big-button dialer in your PPC.

thanks guys, i thought there was something wrong with my comp, it did say on the link last night that new software was needed n i jus assumed is was needed by me. anyway it works now.
also to ronfin44 thanks for the links and install instructions, i didnt realize it got rid of the big button dialer, do you think there is any way to just add a another button to the dialer and shrink the font size of the number output?

Seriously guy, you need to start reading more before trying stuff like this.
Why can't you not install the files? What error are you getting?
Secondly, and you may not know this but those *.cabs you are installing do change a number of items in your registry. You could try to just let it be, but you could have some unseen problems.
So, if you ran them and got half-way then you might want to finish the installation properly. However if you do not want to do that and want to go back to the way you were before, then you will have to do a Hard Reset.
ADDED EDIT: So to answer your question, no, deleting the *.cabs will change nothing.

i have successfully installed the 3g dialer. i did say i just realized i have no use for the app thats why i was asking how, if possible would i be able to uninstall it. no problem if i cant coz i know ill be HR anyways when i try out another rom. thanks for the reply.

Xperia is my first Windows mobile and therefore kinda novice to some terms used in this area. My colleague helped me in installing new ROM HTC touch it. It now looks like an HTC phone with cool graphics.
I know mine is tf3d but how can i verify. Also I keep listening to terms like manila, jailbreak, brick etc can someone explain me what these terms relate to. Need little overview of all these terms used.
I tried to install new themes and therefore installed tf3d config tool but it doesnt work on my X1 gives me an error.Is there any other way of installing these themes. Mine is the default black theme.

you can check your version under the Settings tab in your TouchFlo at the point "Info".
Also, if you can switch your home clock back and forth i can assure you its TF3D .
By Manila is meant the same as with TF3D(TouchFlo 3D). Jailbreak is usually used to be a name for an iPhone hack, but in our case you can categorize it as something connected with HardSPL. It's a tool that patches your phones rom manager and allows you to flash it with custom roms(like the one you got from your friend - means that your phone is already equipped with it).
I'm not sure about compatibility with the config tool since i've never used it, but i can tell you that the easiest way of applying themes is the usage of cabs.
You can find different theme-cabs in this section (themes and applications).
If you have any other questions I'd suggest you just to ask in here.
Thanks mate for clarifying, do you have a simple procedure on how to flash rom and install new custom roms. As for theme cab file is it possible for you to provide me with one theme cab file i just wanna test it out before downloading others. I assume i can revert back to my original black theme incase i dont like the new one.

The link you provided is about hardspl whats the next thing to do after hardspl? How to install custom roms available in this forums? Is there a procedure for doing this.
Actually there's always an .exe file with the rom package.
you simply start the .exe and follow the steps described.
The only thing to care about is a stable activesync/dev centre connection and a battery life of above 50%

I've searched Google and this forum so apologies if this has been answered, but I have a strange problem.
I presently have 25 out of the available 30 slots on my start menu (Touchflo) occupied. However, when I try to add programs to any of the last free 5 slots, I can select from the programs list, but when it goes back to the Touchflo start menu, the newly added program isn't there and I still have 5 free slots.
No matter which programs I try to add, or how many times I reboot, it doesn't work.
Interestingly, if I delete any of the previous 25 and try to add to one of those free slots, it works fine.
I have no idea why this is happening or how to fix it, and I'm hoping someone can give me some advice please.

Are you using a cooked ROM? I recall having this problem when I tried out the Energy Genesis ROM. According to users from that thread, it was a known bug.
I fixed the problem experienced with the Genesis ROM by installing this cab http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4096922&postcount=1 it might help. You could check the slots are not set to readonly as well (see reg keys in linked post)

The Sprint ROM doesn't seem to allow you to add icons the homescreen at all; the ones that are there at default are the only ones you can add. You can take a few away, but that's the only amount of customization available.

You just need the kitchen of the rom and edit them yourself .... there are a lot of other customizations that you can do with kitchen

Are you stuck in the align screen loop?
I had the same problem the other day and after a bit of searching found a little fix that worked.
When you get to the align screen screen, just turn your diamond so it's in landscape. Tap on all the crosses and it should work! Worked for me anyway!
yup, you can try Benko's 6.5.x roms or Makeveral's BsB rom.
